If you want the best subs in town you need to follow your nose to Jimmy John’s just down the road. Buy a Gargantuan and be in sub heaven ok. Philly would be mortified to see the sandwich that bears their name. The meat could have been ground beef for all I could tell and the bread was flavorless and tough. Philly’s has been an institution for the Northcentral Technical College students for years. Many employees of Wausau’s downtown area drive up to the north-​side to collect subs for their coworkers. Philly’s is just plain good. I ate lunch here three times a week when I had classes at the college across the street.
I haven’t experienced a variety of selections on their menu, so I can’t talk about anything else but, you guessed it, the CHEESE STEAK.
It has tender and juicy shredded steak, gooey cheese and all the fixings. My mouth waters just thinking about a Philly’s cheese steak.
The prices are right and the servers are friendly. It sure beats the «chain» sub places, at least that is what my pallet tells me.
Fresh bread, fresh ingredients and the right price, Philly’s!
