Speed of Light Towing & Recovery

Battery died on me once, figured call them since they’re known around town. Guy got there in less than 10minutes, took him 2minutes and my truck was running. Guy was friendly & fast. Couple weeks later my friends car went down into a ditch, it was pouring like crazy, it was also like 30 degrees and it was night time, not to mention there was hardly any signal & a very scary road too. He called me, I thought about speed of light since the previous time I was pleased with their service. Sure enough some guy named Rocky showed up in like 15 minutes, he did what he had to do. Pulled out the car, took it to his yard & even offered my friend a ride back. My friend was glad I called them and not Rossi’s towing! Thank you speed of light for your awesome service & great prices!

My car broke down in the middle of the highway at about 8:30 pm. I called them and a really nice lady answered and made sure I was in a safe spot and told me the tow truck would be there in about 15 mins. About 5 minutes later a guy named Rocky showed up. They got my car on the truck in a matter of minutes. Overall I had a great experience. I would definitely recommend them.

I live in an apartment complex in Santa Cruz limited parking, one spot per apartment.
someone was parked in my spot for three days so I finally called in a tow before they got there I seen a apartment parking sticker and felt that I should go ask around before towing the car so I called back to cancel, a tow truck still showed up! I explain to him that I canceled and he said there would be a drop fee «even though he hadn’t even touched the car yet» he said for wasted his time… i am a collage student I don’t have $ 100 just to hand over. he was rude, very unprofessional and I would never recommend them to anyone.

I personally think that name calling should not be allowed on Unilocal reviews. It’s slander and the business cannot defend themselves. Everyone who comes in contact with this company has had their car impounded for driving under the influence or parked somewhere they shouldn’t have, because they don’t look at signs posted by the businesses. Therefore they’re not going to post an honest review. I personally have used this business several times and I love them! There’s laws and rules they have to follow so I feel they’ve been fair to me. I love Speed of light!!!

This is a shady company. I parked at a Chevron in Watsonville, in a space that the sign said «CUSTOMER PARKING ONLY». I was a customer. I had just purchased gas, AND items from the food mart. The engine had overheated on the car so we decided to let it cool down and we ran to get some food. We left at 8pm, and the car was towed at 8:15.
The owner of the tow company said the car was «left too long». When I showed them their sign had NO time limits, it only said «Customer Parking Only» he said to take it up with the station manager. When I went into the station, the lady at the front said «they don’t call tow trucks, cars are towed automatically.»…
They not only charged me $ 386 for towing the car 3 miles, but they only had the car an hour and a half. When we went to their office that night, they LOCKED US IN THE LOBBY! and wouldn’t let us leave until we paid their extortion.
The paperwork came back with fraudulent and missing information, and the authorized agent as only «Liz» with no contact info. Watch out for this company, shady operation.

These guys don’t seem to care much about polluting our bay. See pics I just posted. One of their employees lives off of Brewington and parks his truck next to the old hospital almost every night. The truck continues to leak engine oil. They applied some absorbent, but never cleaned it up.

They lied on the paperwork about an unattended vehicle tow they did. The paperwork said it was parked for 2 hours and the vehicle was only parked for 30 min but they rushed down to tow it. 261.00 for less than an hour in storage and a 2 block tow. Seems like a scam to me. I wouldn’t use them to scrape a dead squirrel off my tire.
