Lake Champlain Chocolates

Cool store with lots of chocolate products and a wonderful café. We had the Old World Hot Chocolate and Old World Mocha, they were superb and we bought a couple tins of Old World hot chocolate beans to bring home with us. We tried a couple of the chocolates and we thought they were average and overpriced. This is a major tourist spot, it is still worth a visit if you are touring around this area.

The chocolate is amazing. I highly recommend the apple Carmel. Also the iced maple latte was a real treat. There are a lot of pluses, but the staff is terribly rude. I wouldn’t recommend due to that alone.

Not only is it a great product, the customer service is above and beyond. I can not say how satisfied I am with their service.

I’m not sure how it is that I’ve never written a review for LLC before when I consider how much time I’ve spent in the shop since 2008. There was a period of time when I would visit this shop every single day it was open. And by «visit» I mean, go in and buy stuff. Some days it was just a piece of chocolate covered toffee. Some days it was a piece or two. Other days it was a piece of chocolate covered toffee and a few truffles. In the fall of 2008 I was probably there every day. Then I took a break and I was an off and on customer. Just this summer I had the chocolate chip ice cream with hot fudge sauce 5 days in a row (just a kiddie scoop, nothing huge, but it’s soooo good).
In actuality, I think the ice cream here is better than much of the chocolate. They used to have more variety of organic truffles, I think, and I liked some of them very much. Nothing is bad here except maybe the fudge. But I don’t like fudge. My friends who do like it here very much.
Definitely one of the best chocolate shops in Vermont. Not for super particular chocolate snobs (like little Belgian truffles that cost $ 10 each), but very very good.
A friend worked in LLC corporate offices and he was always slammed during the holidays. After holidays you can buy boxes of much of their chocolate for discounts (stuff that didn’t sell for Valentine’s day, for example).

I don’t normally write reviews, but this required one. I stop here about once a year on my trip from Connecticut to Vermont. It’s usually in the winter, so I’m usually getting the Aztec hot chocolate, which is really good. As it was unseasonably warm, I decided to get an iced espresso drink. It was the best espresso drink I’ve EVER had!
Mind you, I worked in coffee shops for four years. And I’m a serious foodie. So I know a good espresso drink when I have one. I requested the hazelnut mocha, with almond milk, but iced. The sweet girl behind the counter let me know that they don’t normally do that, but she’d try. I’m sad that I left before trying it. Because if I had tried it in the store, I would’ve told her how amazing it was. I talked about how good it was for hours. Amazing…

It’s a beautiful store! I only eat milk chocolate and their milk chocolate is amazing and I love their packaging. The only thing I did not like is that they call themselves a ‘factory store’ and I assumed that means they are a bit less expensive then the regular store however it’s quite the opposite. Their prices are higher than the Whole Foods back home in Massachusetts.

The dark chocolate (our favorite normally) tasted… I don’t know… gross. Kind of like it was made with a lot of oil and inferior chocolate? The only thing we liked was the free bar of mint crunch we got with our home rental. That I would get but everything else we bought was underwhelming which was seriously disappointing given how much we paid even for factory seconds. Oh and to the staff… smile. It won’t break your face. You’re working with chocolate and ice cream, what’s so wrong to be borderline rude to customers?

I love Lake Champlain Chocolates.
This store has factory ‘seconds’ — they taste great but have some physical imperfections, they say. And they are cheaper.
The Seconds section is by the door when you come in. Be sure to check them out and pick up some of your favorites! Grab a big bag and fill it to the top…
Another great thing about this store is that they always have samples out. I have only ever seen 2 different samples out at a time, but it’s great to try chocolates while browsing. I have purchased the chocolate that I have sampled too! (((So keep putting samples out!!!)
There are also regular priced chocolate items here that are great for gifts (for others or yourself…). The Lake Champlain Hot Chocolate is sold here too. Other things — like cards and tshirts, and another store that is adjoining (that I haven’t really checked out) are here as well. They sell ice cream, milkshakes, hot chocolate, and coffee here — none of which I have tried, but at some point I will because it looks so good!
Lake Champlain fudge is here. It is yummy and you can ask to sample some to help you choose which flavor you will buy!
Behind the glass, there are many chocolates, chocolate clusters of nuts, and truffles which you can buy individually and make into a box.
Mmmmm. This place is great. I travel for hours to come here and stock up for my chocolate stash. Sure it is pricey — money wise and calorie wise — but in my opinion, it is worth it!!!

Chocolates here were OK. The dark chocolates had a slight burnt flavor, as if the cocoa seeds were baked too long. The Milk chocolate was OK and creamy. They are a bit more expensive than your grocery store chocolates.

Nothing special or unique but it is ok if there is something you need. Chocolate, espresso and ice cream. Lot of the hotels and restaurants recommend this place but there is no need to make a special visit

Quick and simple, its a candy store all around. There is some samples to try and there is fudge and gummys and all kinds of pricy but non retail candies here. There is an espresso bar and some ice cream but really you come in here when you have a sweet tooth really.

Shop is big, clean, and nice. Lots of chocolates.

Nice looking interior, 50% off Christmas chocolate too. The bathroom setup is odd because it’s outside and doesn’t match the interior of the place at all. The Bathroom needed to be cleaned.
We bought a sample box and I haven’t tried any yet. I’ll update this review when I taste them.
My wife left with a smile on her face so I’m a happy husband right now.

Don’t pass up the chance to order a cup of hot chocolate. You can choose from milk or dark; and you can get different cacao percentages. The peppermint dark chocolate has 59% cacao and the Tanzanian dark chocolate haas 75%. There’s also a very well made hot chocolate and chai combo drink, a specialty that few chocolate cafés can match for taste.

I didn’t go in this store, only my wife did. But these are some darn good chocolates. Seriously. I wish we had brought home more because they are flat out amazing. All of them. So just go in and stock up. You won’t be disappointed.

Didn’t visit their physical location while we were passing through VT a few weeks ago, however we chanced to pick up some individual ones along our travels.
Some winners– caramel, mint, nut and fruit, hazelnut, and pumpkin.
There were no losers in the mix.

i like chocolate and i guess this just isn’t the kind of chocolate i like. the parking lot was crowded. the staff was friendly. the prices seemed OK but a chocolate bar i saw here was cheaper at the supermarket in town. if you are visiting cabots you may as well just walk over here and try some of the chocolate, you might like it more than i did.

It’s ok. Not a whole hell of a lot to see.

Sophisticated and pricy but well worth it.
