3 stars is the average based on a «poor» rating for the food and«excellent» for the service. Hostess and bartender were outstanding! They deserve a big raise staying so positive when the food really sucks. Sitting at the bar allowed me to peak in the kitchen while meals were prepared. No comment, no chef on board. Stick with the drinks and conversation and you will have a good time. Cute location with many other dining options within walking distance.

Visited after 10 years and it was just like I remembered it. Nice bar and a deep menu! Next time, flourless chocolate cake for sure!

I had to review this place as it appears I’m the only person who really enjoyed my food here. I had a center cut sirloin; it was locally farmed and done to a nice medium rare. It was also fairly priced at 20 dollars for the quality and texture of the steak. They had a beautiful patio. Although my party decided to eat in, I would have liked to have a few drafts of Fresh VT beers on the deck. I was here for Vermont Brewers Festival weekend. Prohibition Pig was packed but Arvad had a great beer selection this weekend. SOS, Focal Banger, Heady were either in cans or on Tap on the day that I went. The service was excellent; we had a great server who had an easygoing style. The vibe was like the tap list, friendly and local. It was not packed but had enough friendly faces around that I felt comfortable going here. I would recommend this to anyone going to Waterbury to check out the scene.

Again confounded by the inability to rate half stars. The staff here was great and they were able to seat our lunch group of 17(yes 17) quickly using three different tables. We broke up the group and started to order. The beer list was very good, which is largely the expectation in this area of Vermont. My issue was the pulled pork sandwich. It wasn’t pulled. I’m not sure it was even stretched. It was basically a pork chop on a bun. To go along with that, there was barely any sauce, and none on the table or served on the side. The fries it came with were fine and the rest of the group seemed to think their food was pretty good. Mostly burgers for the young men, daughter went with a Reuben which she liked. Went with four stars for the hospitality and the fact that I would return, just wouldn’t order the pulled pork. My «real feel» score would be more of a 3.5 star.

Great place, walked in with my wife around 6PM2÷6÷16. Great burgers, fries. I got the sweet potato fries, excellent! Very attentive waitress, understood my drink request, many don’t. Interesting atmosphere, check out the huge wall mural. When I return to VT, I will go here again.

I do NOT recommend the steak sandwich. It was very chewy and fatty. Almost inedible. The Reuben my wife had was great and the beer menu is pretty good too, so go with the beers and simple menu items if you go here.

Really small menu. Friendly staff. I got the Mac and Cheese with Chicken. It as pretty good but was over powered with pepper. I wouldn’t have been able to handle it if I didn’t like pepper but it was still to much. Wait for our food wasn’t to bad. My fiancé enjoyed his pulled pork with mashed potatoes. He said the mashed potatoes were really good. They have crayons on the table and a runner that you can draw on which is awesome at any age.

Came here for lunch yesterday before going to the Ben and Jerry’s factory. Not a bad place for eats but there are a few things they can do to make the experience better. We started with the polenta and mushrooms which was very good but needed more sauce as there was barely enough for 1 polenta and we wanted to make sure we had some sauce with each bite. My wife had the burger which was cooked perfectly and served with shoestring fries which were crunchy but could be just a little more crunchy. Her brother had the mac and cheese which was a little on the dry side and could have used more cheese sauce. I chose the steak sandwich and although they got the temperature right what made it hard to eat was the tendon in it. With my first bite I had to pull the steak from my mouth to keep it all from falling out. A simple trim of the fat portion and tendon out of the steak would make eating it in a sandwich that much more easy and less of a struggle. I think if they made these changes our meal would have been much better. The restaurant itself has a very nice atmosphere and they have many beers on tap. Our waiter was also funny and a pleasure to have keeping them from getting lower stars.

We were passing through town and were desperate for a bite to eat. We had steak with garlic mashed potatoes, onion soup and caesar salad. The service was slow and their food was pretty basic. The caesar was good. The husband didn’t care for the steak. It was pretty fatty and lacking in flavor. The onion soup was ok but was lacking that unctuousness that you normally get with a really good onion soup.

My husband and I came here for lunch while visiting the town of Waterbury. The beer selection is great(my husband got a flight of 5oz samples of 4 beers– only $ 9 and he got to try a few he had his eye on). I got a local Oktoberfest– and 23oz of it!!! Our waiter was so friendly and chatted with us throughout the meal about local beers and breweries. All the staff I encountered were pleasant and smiling! My husband got the build your own burger(with bison, which he said was outstanding in flavor) while I had the pasta daily special. Special it truly was. Playing with the fall season we spent our honeymoon enjoying, the dish was a butternut squash ravioli with an applejack brandy cream sauce and topped with candied walnuts and apple slices. I also want to add that we came to this town for the prohibition pig which is a block over. Online it says they are open for lunch but apparently not on Tuesday-Thursday. What started off as a disappointment ended up and an exceptional meal. Price, flavor and service were on point!

Good spot. They have Focal Banger, Heady, and Sip of Sunshine. What else do you need?! As far as the food, it was good. Decent streaks and burgers. But loved the wings. Good sauce and breaded nicely. Service was a little slow but that’s okay. The beer is the reason you come here

For a nice lunch this place is wonderful. Had our choice between 3 in the area and we chose wisely. Not much to look at for décor but I don’t come into a place like this to look at the art collection. Wait staff was attentive and checked back often. Had the Mac and Cheese. It was off the charts good. Very creamy and cheesy and we didn’t spoil it with chicken or shrimp. Simple, straight forward some of the best I have had in quite a while. Got the Vermonter and wife got the turkey club. Both were awesome sandwiches with half inch slice of roasted turkey. Great sandwiches. Fries were okay nothing spectacular. Of course this was after the Mac & cheese. If you are in the area you MUST visit this place. Simply great. Sorry took picture after tasting Mac & cheese. YUMYUM.

This places is way underrated. We ate at a number of highly rated place in Waterbury and Stowe, this places is by far better than most! The steak sandwich was out of this world. The burger was made with local beef and I could not get enough of the fries. My son loved his pork sandwich and would not give us a bite. Given that he is 5 and ate the entire sandwich I am going to assume it was pretty good. On top everything it was the friendliest staff is all of Vermont. Enjoy!!!

As my family was next door at P Pig, I didn’t like the menu and decided to take a walk elsewhere. Stumbled into this place and instantly found something I liked! I ordered a Veggie burger, which seemed mostly lentil based, to go. The bartender taking my order was the absolute nicest, and was super helpful about the menu etc. The burger was a great size for the price and very filling. The fries were slighty too crispy for me but I still ate most of them(There were a lot). Definitely glad I took that walk!

Went to grab a late bite to eat before we stopped for the night in Waterbury. Great food, great service and the waiter(believe his name was Dave) was very helpful in suggesting things for us to do the following day. We’re vegetarian and had several options to eat. I would go back and recommend to others!

Went for a family dinner and everything was amazing! The drinks, the food, the atmosphere all top notch! Must haves: the bottomless fries, garlic aioli and anything with Smuggler’s Notch Vodka. Joe was our server and did a great job with such a big group of people. Will definitely be back anytime were in the area!

Bottomless fries! I ordered the build your own burger. It came with 4 homemade dipping sauces, and they were sure I always had a full plate of crispy hand cut fries. I would have gave them 5 stars but my burger came with mushrooms on it(hate mushrooms) and it took a bit long. The waitress was very busy but still did her job very well.

Grabbed a drink here last night and loved it! The exterior and interior are beautiful. The patio even has heaters. The drink menu was awesome. They have SO many local selections and we loved that! There were so many Vermont native things we had no knowledge about prior to our stop in. I ordered the Vermont maple White Russian and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the maple bourbon. The bartender was friendly as well. Very cute little place!

We’ve eaten here a couple of times. The most recent was a family meal — seven of us – during dinner hour on a ski holiday weekend. They were most accommodating and found us a table despite our not having a reservation. Okay, so it was back by the kitchen entrance, but still, we got a table. The most appealing part about it is that there were quite a few vegi and GF items not he menu, which was perfect for our group. And the huge burgers could be ordered with bison instead of beef, although both claimed to be locally sourced(or something like it). I liked that they emphasized using locally sourced ingredients, even on their beer menu. The service was good. The food was adequate. The menu looked much better than it turned out to be. It was all basically pub food, nothing spectacular. Not bad at all, just nothing spectacular, and perhaps a bit pricey for what you get. A classic wedge salad, which was not very big to begin with, cost $ 10 for a small hunk of iceberg lettuce and a dribble of blue cheese. Meh. The items had little icons to denote Gluten Free and Vegetarian selections, and they listed all of the local Vermont suppliers on the back. There are several other offerings on the same block, so if you don’t like it, cross the street or go down the sidewalk. Also, pointing to another review here… we too had problems with the tip on a charge card. They couldn’t ring up with the tip, had to be charged twice. Huh? I thought it was an anomaly, but to hear that it has happened to others makes me wonder. Will definitely be checking the credit card statement. That said, if you’re in town for a ski weekend, it’s a good little pub/restaurant. Just not a GREAT one.

Looking for lunch on a Wednesday, we were surprised to find out that both Prohibition Pig and The Reservoir were closed. We randomly decided to wander into this place. A simple menu of American food. I went with a burger and fries($ 10). Good value and decent food. And for the beer lovers, the taplist is not as expansive as the other bars/restaurants on the same block, but they had almost 10 beer on draft, including Second Fiddle and Heady Topper cans. Service was great. They also have an interesting mural of Vermont celebrities. You can ask for a lamented guide of who the people on it are.
