Incorporated in 2007, the D.C. Gaels GAA is an amateur sports club whose objective is to promote Irish sport and culture in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Gaels have both Ladies’ and Men’s Gaelic football teams as well as hurling and camogie teams which compete nationally and internationally throughout the summer months, aiming to qualify for the North American Championships.
The Gaels compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the Gaelic Athletic Association’s (GAA) North American County Board (NACB). The GAA, the worldwide ruling body for Gaelic sports, was founded in 1884 in Ireland as a way to maintain the Irish language and culture.

The Gaels were incorporated in 2007, and officially recognized as a 501©3 amateur sports team in 2010.
