A nice and eclectic store in Chinatown but no Tai Ji shoes in size 13. Dang! I needed some.

Need a watch battery? This is your ticket. They’ll replace your battery for $ 6, and it only takes about 5 minutes.

Neat. Herbs and weapons folks. For once in DC, Chinatown felt like Chinatown.

I call this place Mr. Miyagi’s, because I can never remember the name. The guy who owns the place is a famous kung fu master(but he doesn’t take new students any more). Aside from the usual trinkets you can find in any tourist trap in china town, this is the only place I know of in DC where you can get martial arts stuff(uniforms, sparring equipment, books/dvds etc). Obviously, you can get anything they offer cheaper online someplace, but it’s nice to have a place(anyplace!) in DC where you can go and check it out in person. As for the tchotckes? Meh. They have the usual jade statues of buddha or general kwan and stuff like bamboo plants or decorative scroll, but althouth 10% of it nice, most of it is tacky. Still, Mr Miyagi is very knowledgable about chinese herbs and stuff, so if you’re looking for some non-western medicines, he can hook you up. As the first reviewer said, NOREFUNDS, NOEXCHANGES! So buyer beware.

Had no one told me about this place, I would’ve missed it. As many times as I’ve walked down that block in Chinatown, I never noticed this little shop. It looks like any little trinket shop — it has meditation figurines, meditation bracelets, inexpensive jewelry, incense, teas, etc. What I was there for was their martial arts sparring gear. They have a decent selection of sparring gear for a decent price. The younger woman who worked there was very friendly. She was willing to help me find what I was looking for and let me take my time. Only thing to be aware about is their policy: NOREFUNDS, NORETURNS. You can exchange(like I had to for one of my items) however.
