Located in Capitol Hill, The Press is a family owned and operated neighborhood dry cleaner. With over 40 years of experience, we bring our expert knowledge to the cleaning of your garments and strive to go the extra mile in our inspection and cleaning process by doing such things as replacing cracked button and checking collars for collar stays to ensure that you no longer have to worry about the care of your clothes. The Press did a wonderful job with my husband’s God-​For-​Saken full-​length huge Ralph Lauren ugly down coat. It had a very long and jagged rip that seemed impossible to repair and the coat was absolutely filthy, especially on the inside white lining.
Much to our amazement, we couldn’t figure out where the large rip had been when we got the coat back, and it was cleaned to make it look pristine and brand new!
The team at The Press was friendly and professional, and they charged a very reasonable price to the repair and cleaning of the huge down coat. It was also ready on time.

I have nothing but good things to say about The Press. I came here after reading the dreadful reviews about the dry cleaning place nearest my apartment (I almost went there… saved by the Unilocal) and seeing The Press on here. This is my new dry cleaner and I’m never switching, ever!
When you walk in, you may notice a handy little board that has lots of cool community announcements on it from the Capitol Hill area. Super nifty.
They also sell lint combs and related little items, which is great when you don’t want to order some big thing from Amazon. They listen to you when you describe what needs to be cleaned and always do a thorough job. If there is something they don’t think will come out or that they’ll be able to do a great job on, they have the courtesy to let you know in advance so you can decide whether you would like to proceed.
I have my neighborhood dry cleaner for as long as I live in the area. Case closed!

The team at Press is fantastic. Kim and Jade are both great. The fact that I know their names says a lot about the establishment. My clothes consistently come back in excellent condition. Not that I am always asking for a rush job, but when I do, they deliver. The prices are reasonable and I feel comfortable giving them my higher end items, without apprehension. The only bit of constructive criticism I can give, is that I wish they delivered: (

I came here yesterday to drop my boyfriends shirts off. He’s been bringing his clothes here for a year now. The service was pretty quick and the turnaround is even quicker. They do have a new system now so you have to re-​input your information but it only takes a few seconds. Oh! And there’s a 10% discount if you check-​in on Unilocal,or Facebook

Super friendly service, reasonably priced, quick turnaround. They do a nice job and even brought a skirt back to life that I was convinced had been ruined in the laundry! The store is also nice and clean. Definitely recommend.

I will never use there service again. Receive items back with holes in them, items not pressed look like they came out of the washer rather than the dry cleaners. Tried to discuss this with the owner very unprofessional.

I rarely write reviews, but I had to for this place. First, I took a very expensive silk dress in to get a stain removed. I was worried it would not come out, but when I picked it up I was happy and surprised that it looked perfect.
Second, I took some of my clothes somewhere slightly less expensive to get tailored. The person ruined my clothes or so I thought until I took them to Press and had them fixed in a matter of days. I am so happy with Press’ service, friendliness, skill and all around wonderful demeanor. I will be taking everything to Press from now on. The staff is amazing and the service is excellent.

Always solid, my go to dry cleaner on Capitol Hill. We take dress shirts and dresses mostly but we’ve also had corduroys and cashmeres done perfectly well here. This place is good to go.

Although their dry cleaning services are fine, I would NOT use their wash and fold services again.
Pros:
–The staff is very friendly
–Everything came back nicely folded
Cons:
–They said I would get an email when my clothes were ready for pick-​up, which I never received.
–They only wash clothes in cold water, not hot… ew!
–They said they read clothing label directions, but a pair of my pants were ruined when they were put in the dryer. So disappointing!

I went to Press and although it was nice, I brought in a silk sleeveless shirt to get a faint grease-​stain removed. I pointed out the stain and the rep said that it would not be a problem. I got the shirt back ($ 5.15 with a 10% new customer discount) and the stain was still there. To be fair, I am a perfectionist when it comes to my work clothes and the stain is faint, but there was no improvement on the condition of the stain.
As for customer service, at drop off and pick up they were definitely not rude, but were as friendly or attentive. Just passively doing their job.
All and all– service, pricing, and performance, there is nothing special about this cleaners for me. Ill go somewhere else next time.

This is my go to dry cleaner. I’ve had them do a lot more than just take care of my dirty shirts. They’ve handled holes in all types of garments, hemming pants, and countless other tasks. Whenever I’m not sure if it can be done, I bring it in anyway and they either do it or try and let you know why they can’t.
I can’t say enough good things about them. Give them a try!

I have lived in DC for six years and tried more dry cleaners in the metro area than I care to remember. I invest in nice clothes, but inevitably spill on them while eating at my desk or holding an uncapped pen. At The Press there is no language barrier, so the person you speak with understands what you need and rarely do I have to send something back to be spot treated a second time. They even attach a drawing of to your item to indicate the exact location of the stains (see picture)!
Recently I had mold in my closet and had to dry clean its entire contents. I don’t have a car in DC so I took my clothes in batches, and this morning when I went to pick them up with a granny cart, the manager offered to GIVE ME A LIFT with my clothes and provided door-​to-​door service at no extra cost. Talk about customer service! It me took six years to find a dry cleaner that I leave feeling better than I did when walking in.

Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago, the results weren’t fantastic. Work pants were ironed two different ways and not even along the seams, so they were unwearable until I got around to redoing them myself, and had also apparently shrunk up a bit. Spot on a blouse had faded, but still remained. Not bad, but won’t be my go-​to neighborhood dry cleaner.

Had a fantastic experience with The Press last Friday. When I logged on to Unilocal to write about it and read the previous reviews, I was pleasantly surprised to see that The Press manages to provide almost *every customer* with the same world class service I received! Wow!
Having read other reviews, I’m not sure that mine will add much to the discourse, but here goes: I dropped off a bunch of clothes and went to pick them up on a Friday night right around 7:55. Since parking isn’t easy in Eastern Market, I double parked and called The Press from my mobile phone. My request was simply that they allow me to provide my cc number over the phone so that they could process the payment before I ran in and picked up my clothes. Well, they did me one — I guess two — better. An associate ran out to my car to get the card, and then another person brought the clothes outside and hung them in the back of my car. WHAT!!! Who does that?! Super helpful and accommodating, even right at closing time on a Friday night.
My clothes were in great condition, btw. Cleaned well, pressed well, hung well.
Needless to say, I’ll be returning to The Press soon and very soon.

I can only review the alterations as I’ve never gotten my clothes dry cleaned. It’s efficient without being pretentious. The service has always been done with a smile and the employees have always been very helpful. I will likely continue to walk by the 8 other dry cleaners in my neighborhood to come here.

Update: After a previously poor experience, the owner redeemed himself and his business. I appreciate the phone call and the additional service The Press provided.
After seeing the great reviews on Unilocal,I bought two vouchers on Gilt for The Press. Unfortunately I had a disappointing first experience. When I went to pick up my dry cleaning, I was charged an extra $ 5 than what my receipt indicated. When brought this to the attention of the attendant, she insisted that I owed more than my receipt. I asked to speak with the manager, who I was informed was not on location. The attendant then called the owner who was quite short with me, but nevertheless didn’t make me pay the additional charge. I have to go back if I want to use the full value of my second voucher, but I’m not looking forward to it.

I needed a quick turnaround on a suit and the Press was great with their one day turn. I got 10% off as a new customer, the staff were more than friendly, and my suit looks great. I’ll be back for sure. I’d also mention the store hours are very convenient.

This is hands-​down the nicest, most pleasant dry cleaner I’ve ever been to. I took a suit, a blouse, and a leather purse to be cleaned on a Saturday, and got the suit/​blouse back on Tuesday, even with a hem put on the skirt. All of the pieces look great, including the alteration, and those three things only cost $ 15.50 for the cleaning. The outsource their leather cleaning to someone who comes once a week, so I should hear back about cleaning my purse tomorrow.
The front staff is very friendly, and the interior of the shop is really cute. I left a lipgloss in my suit jacket, and they were nice enough to put it in a little plastic bag attached to my garment bag. It’s nothing like the places you go and can see the hundreds of garments they have and the working bits of the building. I highly recommend it!
