Segs in the City

We did the Sunset tour, which is HIGHLY recommended! Jules was an extremely knowledgeable guide and gave us information that only a true native would know. She made the tour so worth it! Matt was a patient instructor for newbies like us. Plus, you gotta love the catchy name!

A great way to see the sites. Friendly staff makes the ride comfortable even for the novice rider. I would recommend this to my friends & family as a must do adventure.

This was our second evening tour with Segs in the City. We highly recommend it! What a great way to see the high points of DC and the monuments at dusk. Matt was informative, fun and can sing! Although I’m sure Skippy knows a lot about how to ride!.

My wife, daughter and I arrived to take our first segway tour. Although we were a bit nervous Chester was very reassuring and patient with us. He took the time to answer any questions we may have had although it was hardly necessary since his tutorial was quite organized and well presented.
In addition to his explanation of the proper and safe usage of the segway we were quite impressed with his historical knowledge as he proceeded to give his verbal tour via radio and headset whilst we casually made our way around the monuments of DC.
We can’t wait to return to take advantage of the «SEGSY LEGS» discount cards we earned!

This is definitely worth the price. Nick did a great job, his knowledge of the city was great he kept are daughter busy. Truly something you should do while you are in DC

The segway tour was so much fun! Got to see so many parts of the city that I wouldn’t have had time to see otherwise. Matt was a great tour guide and knew a lot of facts about each of the monuments we visited. Highly recommended.

Fantastic service, superior rides, VERY fun! But… Chester didn’t laugh at my jokes, I laughed at his, it was not a healthy relationship and unfair.

A life time experience! The best way to see the city and not to get tired at all. Since I knew nothing about DC history, listening to the guided tour wasn’t annoying as I assumed it would be (excuse me but I hate guided tours), but listening to some facts using headphones and asking questions when needed, were really helpful at the end. 10/​10, got my license on a Seg, will sure explore another city the same way.

What a great experience! We did the monuments tour, felt we really got to see a lot of the mall. While we didn’t get to see up close and personal was a great way to avoid the crowds by skimming by. The tour guide was very informative and explained in great detail. Thank you for a great time.

The sunset tour was amazing. I was only in DC for two days and this was by far the best way to see all of the monuments. Chester was a fantastic guide. I hope to bring my family back some day to enjoy the experience.

We had a great time on our tour with Segs in the City. This was our first time riding a segway (I can’t figure out how to spell it) but it was super easy. We arrived about half an hour early for our tour. It was a little bit difficult finding their office – just go through the middle of the Reagan buildings rather than going inside, and you will come to an area with benches for sitting and some escalators. If you go down the escalators you are right there.
The guys running the business were awesome and responsive to our questions ahead of time. To be honest, we were nervous about bad weather so we set this up only a day ahead of time.
The segways were new, clean and cool looking. They go pretty fast for the areas you go on them. I would suggest wearing comfortable shoes and also maybe bringing your own bike helmet if you have one handy. They have all the gear you would want, however, and there is no cost to use their gear.
They set you up with an ear piece radio so you can easily hear the tour guide. It worked very well. In fact, I was pretty impressed by how well it worked and the distance it broadcast. After you are setup with an ear piece, safety helmet, and a safety reflective vest, you receive training on the segway until you feel comfortable. Both me and my wife were putzes at first, but they are very intuitive and easy to use. They were so intuitive that I tried to muscle the thing around, which was totally unnecessary. It reacts to your body’s natural motion – pretty amazing. Within about 30 seconds we felt at one with the machines. Seriously, that’s how it feels.
We ended up being the only ones on the tour, which was cool but I don’t think it changes much with respect to quality because the tour guide was so good. As perks to being the only ones on the tour, we got about three extra fun facts by passing by extra monuments; and we are from DC so we’ve already been to everything numerous times so it was easy to ask for the «special» tour rather than just the big stuff. Despite our being from DC and also nerding out on monuments on our own quite frequently, we learned A LOT! Seriously, the tour guide was cool, funny, fun, and really knowledgeable. He sits around studying history books in between tours and wow, it shows! We have already been impressing our friends and guests with new fun facts on our own tours of the city.
The way the tour works is, once you are comfortable on the segway, you can head out with the guide and he stops you at various points to give information. At certain locations you have 10 minutes to hop off the segway and go look at the monuments. For instance, we walked around Jefferson, FDR, MLK, Korean War, Lincoln, and Vietnam. We basically walked really fast through each monument because 10 minutes goes very quickly, but it was fun… and romantic with the setting sun.
We did the evening tour and I would STRONGLY recommend it to everyone, anyone. DC locals know that night time is the best time to see the Mall. There are less people, the temperatures are better, and the monuments are simply stunning at night. You don’t get anything more in the daytime that could enhance your tour because the things that are closed, such as the gift shops, you don’t have time to visit during the tour anyway. This tour is about monuments and you can really see them all very quickly and efficiently.
Segs in the City was phenomenal and I can’t thank them enough for an awesome time. I would definitely do the tour again, just for the heck of it. It really is that good!

Definitely recommend! Fun ride and awesome tour overall. We went at night and the monuments were beautiful! We do wish we had done this earlier in our trip so we could go back and spend more time at our favorites. Ask for Noah, the tour guide, very knowledgable and entertaining!

Excellent tour. I had tried to get on with another company and their «website» said 13 openings. When I called to get final directions I was told no «sorry SOLD out». Turned out to be a great thing as I soon saw Segs in the City sign and walked in to meet Andrew who turned out to be our guide. Reason I was so pleased to miss out on the other place was that we had individual earphones so we could hear running commentary from our guide. The other place does not and the only way you hear anything is when their guide stops everyone and they gather up to hear him or her
yell out what place they are at. We made stops at the monuments and would get off to go walk at each. Another great thing about this place is the office is located right at the exit from the metro at Federal Triangle station. Super easy to find. Thanks again Andrew I will come see you guys on another trip to D.C.

I was a little nervous about my coordination and a Segway but I had absolutely nothing to fear! Segs in the City are fantastic! Everyone is super friendly. Chester our guide was awesome! He instantly made me feel comfortable and confident on the Segway. After our practice session on the plaza we were good to go! Chester was very knowledgable and kind, giving us a great tour of parts of DC that we certainly had seen before but not from this perspective. He pointed out many things that we have missed on several previous trips. Besides, the Segways were just plain fun! It was great to zip right along and I was super sad when the tour ended. I would definitely do this again on our next trip here, possibly the evening one. I think it would be great to see everything from the perspective of a Segway at night. Segs in the City offers a great experience!

It was my first time on a Segway and it was really fun! Chester, from New Jersey, was our tour guide and a great one at that! We spent the first 15mins going over safety and learning the segways and then we were on our way. It was nice experiencing the memorials in a new light and having a very knowledgeable tour guide. I would definitely recommend doing this with family and friends… I will definitely be back.

Wow. As long as I live, I will never laugh or make fun of a segway tour (I’ve already asked God for forgiveness). I’ve lived in DC for 7 years and people on segweys look so funny, but let me tell you, the joke is on us who chose to walk to see the memorials. This past weekend, my wife, a friend, and I chose to pay the money to go on Segs in the City’s cheapest segwey tour and it was a BLAST!
The segweys are very easy to operate. Once you try it for 1 minute, you are confident and will be doing all sorts of tricks. The National Mall is so big and it’s exhausting seeing all the sites on foot, so why not go on a segwey. It is a BLAST! Yes, we looked like idiots in those helmets, but really, the joke is on the pedestrians.
Segweys are AWESOME!
