Daniel was really good for my massage… He’s really sweet and professional. I got a ½ hour facial after with a lady whose name I didn’t catch… I was freezing and she had no blanket for me, no extractions and my eyes are still burning from whatever she used. All for $ 95… Premier” is not a word I would use for this place.

I got a facial today from Qi spa and the esthetician had no idea what she was doing. Not only did she do extractions with not adding any heat to my face, damaging all of my pores, she continued to do a scrub afterward. Put a hot rag on my face with the scrub on and got scrub into my eye. My eye is scratched inside and I cannot see out of it. I had to make an appointment with an eye doctor to get drops for that. at the end of my facial she proceeded to ask me if I wanted sunscreen. And since she scrubbed my face raw, I said yes please. After she put it on she said that it made her eyes water really bad and she doesn’t use it. I now cannot open my eye because the sunscreen got into my cut. I really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else and I really hope she learns how to give proper facials because I am in so much pain.

Yelena is fantastic — Quite frankly, she is the only reason I go to Qi Spa. The salon itself is nothing special; it is a bit cramped and has poor lighting. While the spa itself is nothing to rave about, I would not go to anyone else other than Yelena for my skin care needs. I first went to Yelena for a Brazilian, and it was by far the best waxing experience I had ever had. Yelena takes the time to analyze your skin type and will use different kinds of wax depending on your skin’s sensitivity. I have also gone to Yelena for facials, and again — it was of the highest quality. Through talking to Yelena during each appointment, I have learned that she used to own her own spa before moving to the U.S., and has decades of experience in aesthetics and cosmetic procedures. Her knowledge and experience is evident in her work. If this review were just for Yelena, it would be 5 stars for sure!

Since moving from Chicago last summer my first order of business was finding a place for facials… I tried a few and then found Yelena she is soooo wonderful and always checks my skin each time to customize for me… after every lovingly tendered facial I come out feeling rejuvenated in mind and body… she has the most relaxing touch… trust me you won’t be disappointed if you ask for Yelena!!!

I’ve been coming to Qi Spa for years, since I used to work next door where Mr. Smith’s used to be. Every now and again (I’m sure like many other ladies) I have taken to Groupon and ventured to other Spas for waxes before, but I always come back here. (Old faithful)
Service has always been satisfactory and the staff has always been pleasant, I even get coupons in my email from them! Today I made an appointment for a Brazilian wax (my usual) and they were able to accommodate
me same day, after I got off work. My esthetician was running a bit behind, they gave me a call a head of time to let me know… which I really appreciated, because it gave me extra time to maneuver through traffic coming from my office and park during rush hour. Today was my first time seeing Yelena and she is amazing! She was very apologetic for being late, but I’m flexible so I didn’t mind at all… and her service was great so it was well worth the wait. She was very kind, thorough with her waxing technique and made fun conversation with me during the process. I really enjoyed her and I will continue to come back and request her. I loved her! :)
*Tip* the receptionist mentioned, if you ever have trouble finding parking on the busy streets of Georgetown, try parking across the street in the residential area… there is normally 2 hour free parking.

I first visited Qi Spa when a friend treated me here for my birthday. Before that I never noticed this tiny day spa which is located upstairs from the street level on the main street of Georgetown. That day I happened to have a facial with Elena and she is a gem! I’ve returned many times since then to have facial treatments and massages with this consummate professional. She is really invested in her clients’s beauty needs and I couldn’t recommend her more. What sets her apart is not only her attention to cleanliness (sterilization of equipment and use of one time beauty supplies) but also her knowledge of the client needs and the latest tools and techniques to achieve the necessary results. I’ll definitely be coming back for more.

I’m new to DC and haven’t found a favorite esthetician for brazilians yet, so I bought a groupon and decided to give Qi Spa a try.
I WOULD NEVER COME BACK HERE, even if it was free. I was greeted kindly by front desk staff and offered cucumber water, which was a nice touch. The niceties ended there…
The esthetician never introduced herself and was unprofessional throughout my service. She made several comments to me about «not being lazy» and coming to get brazilians routinely every 3 weeks. While I had not gotten one in awhile, she didn’t need to make this comment to me more than 5x during my service. Incredibly rude! Strike one. My service was extremely painful, with her going over spots over and over again, leading to some extreme bruising. I have sensitive skin, but I’ve also had this service done countless times and even my first time wasn’t this painful. Some might mistake her continued reapplication a of wax as thoroughness, but it seemed to be more of an issue with her technique and the re-​application of the same used strip of wax in my opinion. I was clearly in a lot of pain, but she did not try to distract me or ask if I was okay at any point in the service. Strike 2. Lastly, after my service, she removed the paper bed liner and started spraying down the plastic covering while I got dressed again. I have NEVER had an esthetician not gracefully excuse themselves after the service to allow me to get dressed in peace. And spraying cleaner while I’m still in the room? That’s just downright unprofessional. Strike 3.
A day later, I notice that the times I thought the wax was hotter than it should have been, I was right. I also have a few small burns from the service.
I can’t say enough how disappointed I was at the lack of customer care and professionalism. Never again!

First time going to this Spa. My husband surprised me for Valentine’s Day and booked me a visit! I had a great time even tho it was my first time. Everyone was nice and smiling. And offered us drinks and fruit at the end of our sessions. Overall good time.

I received a very disappointing Brazilian wax service at this salon. I’m going to assume this is because I came in using a groupon, based on the sign that was in the room where I was treated which read:
«we offer three kinds of service here, you can pick two: cheap, fast, and good
Fast and good service won’t be cheap
cheap and fast service won’t be good
good and cheap service won’t be fast»
You get what you pay for– I got cheap fast service that wasn’t good. The woman did a very sloppy job and left many hairs behind. Typically waxing technician will go back and use tweezers on hairs that didn’t come out in the waxing. Nope, this technician simply just reapplied the used wax strips to my skin again and again (even when there was one hair left in the section) making the experience painful. And when the hair didn’t come out with the wax strips she just left it.
I’m very happy that I did not buy the three pack because I would not like to return to this salon.

RUDE RUDE RUDE! Even if they are wrong they will not admit it. I called to get an appointment because last time two years ago I had a good experience. The woman REFUSED to give me an appointment. I bought another groupon just in case they changed staff. They must have because they lady swore I missed an appointment on the day I actually redeemed my first groupon and got my first wax there. I tried to tell her maybe they made a mistake. She would not listen and asked me to pay a late fee from the missed appointment in 2013. I checked my Groupon vouchers and confirmed yeah that was my first appointment their and the day i redeemed my groupon, so yeah she was wrong and rude.

Beware the «Russian dessert!!!»

I had Isabella give me a deep tissue massage that was extraordinary. One of the best I had. If you are an athlete, I highly recommend her. The overall facility was typical for an urban environment. Not too new agey, but clean and functional.

This place was BOMB! I loved it. This was my first brazillian wax and everyone was so nice. It was very clean. Yelena talked me through the whole thing and she was wonderful. It wasn’t that painful either. I will be back!

I purchased the Groupon for Qi after reading the Unilocal reviews about Valentina. One of the BEST waxing experiences I have had! I arrived a few minutes early and was seen on time. Entire procedure took 15 minutes AND Valentina was meticulous! #nohairwasleftbehind I will definitely be returning!

I got a Groupon for a Brazilian, and, overall, had a great experience – based solely on the waxer’s skills and personality, it would be five stars, but minus one for some administrative issues.
I arrived on time, even a bit early, for my appointment, and had some difficulty checking in, as the woman at the front desk seemed to have some difficulty with English. A minute later, another woman, who spoke better English, arrived, which sped up the process. This woman offered to go and fetch me a glass of water; however she never did. Instead, she and the first woman stood at the front desk, whispering and giggling in their native language, with the occasional look and giggle in my direction. As much as I wish I spoke more foreign languages, I don’t, and therefore couldn’t understand a word they were saying, so it could just be my own high level of social anxiety that made that experience uncomfortable for me. Nevertheless, even though it is unlikely they were talking about me, it just didn’t seem like super professional behavior to me, especially considering that they had offered to do something for me, and I ended up never getting my glass of water because they were too busy chatting.
Secondly, I had dinner reservations after my appointment (and yes, I had made an appointment well in advance), so I did not appreciate waiting HALF AN HOUR to be seen for what should be a 10 – 15 minute service (timing was estimated by their own receptionist). Apparently, their regular waxer was not in, and they had shoe-​horned in a walk-​in right before I was supposed to be seen. I then had to «wait for my wax to heat up,» when they probably should have had my room being cleaned, and begun heating my wax, while they finished the person before me. I also should have had priority over someone who did not have an appointment.
Fortunately, my issues end there. While this Valentina mentioned in a couple other reviews was not in the day I went, my waxer did an excellent job. She was not only professional, including apologizing profusely for my wait, but very friendly and comfortable joking around, which definitely helped to make a painful (due to literal physical pain from the waxing, not anything else) experience bearable. It was also probably the most thorough and longest-​lasting wax I have ever had. This place is a tad pricey without a groupon, but I would still definitely visit again.

Qi Spa is not recommendable because of the despicable attitude of its front desk management.
The front desk manager is unbearable and not helpful with clients.
That woman has absolutely no notion of customer service. As the owner of the place as well, she is actually the one pushing away her own clients!
I am quite very sick and weak and I had to reschedule an appointment a couple of times, since I could no make it. Not only the front desk manager was not being understanding, she blamed me for her loosing money and disturbing her business. No empathy at all. Not only did she not reschedule my appointment yet, she canceled the other one I had for another service asking me to bring a doctor’s note if I ever wanted to schedule an appointment with them again. Completely unacceptable and revolting. With me gone forever from this Spa, they have just lost a client.
The only asset this Spa has is the best aesthetician I have ever known, Valentina.
I would not ever recommend Qi Spa to anyone but if you have the chance to be treated by Valentina (I have put the only star just for her)
She is worth going through that most disagreeable front desk manager with her utterly preposterous demeanor.
If you cannot book an appointment with Valentina, then Please, for your own sake, stay away from Qi Spa!

the name is ISABELLA. She has magic in her hands. I had headache, constant from two days but she pressed on the right points and it vanished in like 5 mins. I am definitely going for her.

I purchased a groupon for my first Brazilian wax. Obviously, I was really nervous because my friends told me horror stories (ranging from ‘I was burned’ to ‘my vagina was really badly bruised for a long time’).I had Valentina and she was awesome. She told me a few things to make it hurt less, and would give me a few minutes to breathe if I needed it. She was fast, detailed and it really wasn’t as painful as a lot of people make you think it would be (probably because she was fast and detailed).

I have been waxing since the age of 16. I got waxed in Italy, Spain, France and here in the US in multiple locations. So far I can say Valentina has done the best wax on my whole body and she became my fav. I told her that if I ever move elsewhere, I will have to come back once a month to DC to get waxed by her. She is quick, detailed and I feel no pain when she waxes me. She is very patient and such a pleasant young woman. She knows what she is doing and is very knowledgeable. She is also very good at styling your eyebrows. I can’t imagine waxing without her!

I had an unfortunately dangerous experience with my last waxing appointment. I have usually had very good experiences at Qi with waxing. Having been there several times for Brazilians, I never had a problem. However, I have always been waxed by Valentina. If you want a wax, ask for Valentina.
The last time I went in, there was a new girl who usually works on Fridays. She was very quick and professional and I didn’t notice anything wrong until I got home. I assumed my pain was the usual discomfort of Brazilian waxing but I was wrong. By the time I got home, my skin was red and enflamed and painful for at least two days. After a few days the skin on the lips actually started peeling like a sunburn.
At no point did the technician ask if the wax was too hot nor did she press the skin after the wax to numb the pain. If this was my only experience, I would have left a 1 star, however, I have always had a good experience with Valentina who is very professional and kind to new patients. So I am giving the entire spa a 3 so far.

I purchased a groupon for Qi Spa and made an appointment with ease. I arrived To my appointment about 10 mins early but I was greeted and immediately taken back to the room. The esthetician offered me water to help me relax. Valentina was very quick and professional. I love how sanitary they are with no double dipping in the wax ! That’s a BIG health thing for me! The wax was great and efficient, by the time it was 7 minutes past my appointment I was already up getting dressed again. The wax was very thorough and she removed hair from every where I didn’t want it, I highly recommend this place !

First off, the place is not nice. It’s a tired dark hole in the wall upstairs of another business. Looks dirty.
Bought a groupon for a Brazilian wax and called to make an appointment. They said the time I requested wasn’t available for vouchers. I told them the groupon didn’t mention that at all, and they agreed to schedule me in that time, which means they lied. Strike one. Second, I called to say I was running late. They said ok, fine. No mention that it would be a problem at all. When I arrived to my 12:00 appointment (15 minutes late), I was told that I had missed my appointment. Ok fine I understand, it was my fault I was late, but why not mention on the phone then? I spent that time paying for parking that I could have saved. They then went on to say that the persons 12:15 appointment had arrived and that’s why they couldn’t take me. Wait what? My appointment was for 12 and they had another at 12:15? I have never had a Brazilian in my life that was less than 30 minutes. They said for new customers it is 15 minutes. How does that make sense? How does a Brazilian take less time simply because you are a new customer? I said fine ok reschedule me and they said ok 1:15. Ok great I’ll be back then. Then they said I can’t bring my dog with me (I had my puppy with my at the time.) I explained to them that she was an emotional support animal and had to be with me. The woman shrugged her shoulders. I told her I had to cancel my groupon then. She said ok, not a care in the world. The whole point of being on groupon is to get exposure and new clients so I am confused by their behavior that makes me want to avoid this place at all costs. Frustrated and annoyed, I called groupon and explained the situation about my dog. They cancelled it for me right then and there, making it very easy. That is customer service.
I wouldn’t waste your time with this place. There are so many salons and spas in Georgetown and Washington, D.C. After I left, I literally walked down the street into a random place I found. They gave me a wonderful Brazilian for the same price as the other places groupon.

It really does not matter if there is a statute prohibiting pets in this particular work environment. You are a private business and allowed to make your own stipulations regardless. As you’ll see in my review, once I was told my dog couldn’t stay I simply said ok I have to cancel my groupon. My issue was not with the rule. My issue was how I was treated throughout the whole experience, which I clearly explained.
As for groupons, fine print or exclusions is to be noted on the groupon and in this case there was no time restraints listed on the groupon at all. If your position is that you can deny certain times anyway even when it is not listed (which I don’t think is true) then that is a bad business practice regardless.
I completely understand you had to move to the next appointment. However I should have been told that on the phone. Instead the person said it was fine no big deal instead of rescheduling me right then and there on the phone.
I will not get into the logistics of a Brazilian wax, but getting Brazilian waxes at hundreds of salons in multiple countries over the past 8 years, I have never had one that lasted shorter than 25 minutes. 10 minutes is either a lie or not a Brazilian and just a bikini, in which case the groupon is misleading again.
