People are nice and a clean enough atmosphere, but my lunch order is ALWAYS wrong and slapped into a styrofoam container so its always a disorganized mess by the time you open it, and its not like I’m doing some sort of custom order. I now tend to resist going there unless a coworker insists.

Great breakfast sandwiches that are easy to grab before work! In the past, I’ve loved grabbing one of the pre-boxed greek salads they keep in the refrigerated shelves, but recently they’ve seemed less and less fresh. The veggies are a bit soggy like they were prepared and tossed in dressing days ago. Lastly, the manager tends to call me «love» and«sweetheart,» which some may find friendly, but I find it very off-putting.

The food is decent, but the lunch specials are way over priced. After taxes lunch comes to $ 12.09, but when you try to pay with a credit card the lady behind the counter gives you attitude and ask that you pay in cash. I used to relucantly agree, but then got tired of carrying 81 cents in change. Now I just say I don’t have any cash on me and she snidely swipes my card. They also constantly complain about the food trucks across the street, so I assume they are not making as much money as they did in the past. Still no excuse to be unprofessional and rude to loyal customers.

While in DC for a conference, I did the touristy thing and went on a White House tour(ok, I planned the tour months in advance via my congressional representative but that’s neither here nor there). Afterwards, my husband, a coworker and I were hungry. While walking back in the direction of our hotel/the convention center, I saw a sign flashing«BREAKFAST.» Now, I am not a traditional breakfast eater; I usually have some string cheese. I can’t stand eggs. But, I was with two hangry men. I ordered the sausage biscuit, which was a disappointment; the biscuit was worse than McDonalds. But the guys were happy with their omelets. Oddly, the only other patrons were a sales guy pitching some product to a skeptical customer. I was thinking, really? You’re trying to close a sale and this is the place you choose? Also, the ladies’ room was unlocked but the men’s room required a key. If you’re in the area around lunchtime, there were food truck a plenty jockeying for spots. We would have been better off just waiting for one of them …

Aside from the Greek fare(I’ve mainly had the salads and they were good), I feel compelled to point out that most mornings they have phenomenal oatmeal.

Greek salad was good but would have been better — had too much iceburg lettuce.

Crispy feta, fresh spinach, chunks of tomatoes… YUM. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like Greek food. I do know of a great Greek place now. And this place has an over six-inches long spanokopita that will spank your taste buds if you know what I mean. This crispy deliciousness has a generous amount of both spinach and feta inside. I can’t wait for my next trip. Background: walked in on a late Monday afternoon for my late lunch, was greeted immediately by the owner, ordered my spanokopita and was asked if I wanted a salad as a side. Let’s see chunks of tomatoes and more cheese… hmm glad I said yes. As an Armenian, and as a baklava-addict, I am completely satisfied for seizing the day.

OK, I just went in for my first time today like the last reviewer, and I couldn’t agree more. This place is great. The greek menu is limited but very appetizing. I had the stuffed chicken breast and side salad and it was delicious. They also have a breakfast and a full assortment of hot and cold sandwiches made to order. The best thing about this place is that everyone there is so friendly without being overbearing. I felt like the only person that the man at the register did not know personally. I intend to become a «regular». Great food, friendly service and reasonable prices. What’s not to like

Have eaten here about 5 times. Every time, meals were cooked to order, hot and food fresh. Here’s the bonus, the owner works the cash register and greets everyone that comes in the door with a smile and soft greetings. These guys not only have great food but good marketing. The 21streeter(Turkey Reuben) is no doubt one of the best in DC. Can’t wait to go back.

My boss suggested we use this business to cater our holiday party. The online menu didn’t list any prices(annoying) — so I called to inquire and Frankie was friendly and answered my questions. Through a series of e-mails we set everything up. The price was right. However, when Frankie sent me an e-mail to inquire about where to deliver the food, and I asked him to contact someone else who knew better, apparently Frankie never did(and I didn’t think to double check, assuming it would be done). Thus, when he delivered the food, he couldn’t get into the proper area of the building and left without delivering the food. I was somewhat shocked that a caterer would not call to ask for the details needed for delivery until he had them. However, I was willing to forgive that as a simple mistake, and remembered that I had messed up in not giving him my cell phone number. What pissed me off, was that when I called to rectify the situation, Frankie blamed me(fine, I should have followed up and I should have given him my cell number) but then hung up on me. This is the only behavior that I find absolutely unacceptable from a professional. There is no excuse to ever hang up on a client. I wasn’t yelling, I just wanted the food delivered and was trying to give him the proper directions. When I called back Frankie agreed to deliver the food. Luckily he still had it, and he delivered it fairly quickly. The food its self was meh. Not bad, but I wouldn’t say good. The rice was pretty bland, as were the chicken kabobs. I might consider trying this place again to see if other food is more flavorful(as my boss insists the food is amazing), but the overall customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Love — Love — Love this place! I have had the pleasure of tasting a few menu items here, being that our office has had catering from here on a couple of occasions, and I must say that I’m glad that I was introduced to this place. Both the traditional gyro and the Greek style chicken sandwiches have left lasting impressions of being great tasting, high-quality Greek options in the downtown DC area. And their Greek salad was slammin’… I eat salad, BUT I’m not one to over do it on the salad, and this salad was so good that I could have just kept eating… Additionally, the staff is always very accommodating which only adds to making it a great downtown DC go-to spot!

Place is ok. Food has a litte taste to it. I believe amount served and service should be worked on. Its on par with subways in some respect.

This is a great lunch spot near my office and offers some different lunch special entrees that offer a change from sandwiches. My favorite is the moussaka on Fridays– its a generous portion of the delicious Greek casserole with a side salad and bread, if you would like. Also, the staff are friendly and the service is pretty quick. There is usually some seating available and they have outdoor seating too.

I’m not sure what the hype is about this place and how it’s so packed. IMO, it’s on par with just about any other sandwich/salad place in downtown DC with a slight greek influence. Based on the obvious name and reviews, I thought it would be more authentic greek food but instead it was your usual run of the mill sandwich and salad selection(including a ‘samurai’ salad that was just chicken on salad with asian dressing — what?). I ordered the greek salad with chicken and i’m sad to say it was extremely disappointing. The bulk of the salad was iceberg lettuce with a couple of olives, a light dusting of feta, and dry and salty pieces of chicken. The salad was about $ 10 and not worth it it.

Clearly, people do not know what to order here. It’s a greek place. The greek salad is AMAZING! All of the lunch specials I’ve ever had were AMAZING. The sandwiches– eh, they are ok. You want a sandwich, go to cosi; you want greek food, eat here! The muscaka is huge and heavy but worth the few bites you can fit in before falling into a food coma. The fish/tilapia special I had was spiced and cooked perfectly. Also, they have the best breakfast in town. FRESHEGGS! Made to order. You want 3 egg whites with one yoke on half rye and half white toasted? THEYMAKEITFORYOUNOPROBLEM. I love this place. I do not have any clue what people are bitching about.

I’m not the biggest fan of this place. It is OK, but I have never been excited for the food here. This place is right next to my work, yet I have only been about 3 times, and the overall experience is mediocre. Positives: The sandwiches are fine — nothing special, but not bad. They have a largeish selection of drinks and the staff is friendly and quite peppy. I wouldn’t say the prices are good but they are comparable to some of the other restaurants nearby. I like the blue and white theme, and I thought it was a nice touch taht they have thank you in greek on one of their trash cans. For some reason, little touches like that really excite me. Lastly, they have a patio with lots of seats and people out there always seem to be enjoying themselves. Negatives: While, as I said, the prices are comparable to nearby restaurants, the food isn’t really worth the price to me. Its about the same price as Cosi and I think Cosi sandwiches are much better. Inside atmosphere: lame. And the last negative: the Mykonos Pizza. Lord Almighty. That was the WORST pizza I have ever had in my life. I like all the ingredients individually, but they just did not go right in this meal. It was basically a thin ring of bread with a little bit of cheese under a giant pile of brown glop and covered with chopped up spinach leaves. Basically it looks like a dog had some massive diarrhea and then buried it under some freshly chopped grass. It fell apart in my hands and tasted absolutely disgusting. The brown glop was supposed to be balsamic viniagrette and onions, but based on the consistency and revolting taste there must have been something else in there. I ended up scooping all the glop into the trash and trying to salvage the bottom bread/cheese part. Still didn’t taste very good. I was angry at myself for spending almost $ 10 on this. So thats it. Kind of blah. Decentish food items for the most part, but fails to impress.

Probably one of the better lunch spots in an area overflowing with sandwich shops. Always delicious, fast, and clean. There lunch specials are delicious and the majority of time you have enough left over from lunch to have for dinner. My faves include the Gyro Platter(Gyro meat, greek salad, and pita bread), Lemon Chicken, Quiche special, and the lemony greek chicken soup(Name???) SOOOGOOOD!!! I’m always impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff are. On a side note, they are great for last minute catering!!! We had a spur of the moment client meeting and this was one of the few places open for lunch at 11:00am. I ran in, ordered 12 sandwiches, drinks, cookies, and chips and they had my order packaged and ready to go in 15 minutes. IMPRESSIVE!

**2.5 stars Another failed attempt to get to the L Street Bulgogi Cart…(I gotta get downtown faster), led me to Port of Piraeus. I have been wanting to try the spanakopita here so I finally did. Have to say… it was kind of disappointing. I opted for the Spanakopita + Greek Salad. The spanakopita itself an individual triangle serving with layers of filo. The filo was crispy and flaky towards the middle but I was a bit dissatisfied with the filling. Plus, it was incredibly salty. Now, I know feta isn’t exactly a non-salty cheese, but I was glad I had a big bottle of water to rehydrate. The salad was okay — feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, iceberg lettuce and some sort of vinaigrette. However, some of my lettuce was brown. I’m not one to complain and return food, so I just picked around it. My meal + bottle of water = $ 12. A little too much for what it was. Sigh, maybe next time I will get to try the spanakopita at the Greek Deli? But you may want to pass on it here.

Note: This is actually a moved review — I just realized that I had earlier reviewed the wrong location. Oops. Must have been because this one wasn’t listed. Anyway, read on. —- I should probably learn to enunciate better. Cases in point: @ JR’s — Somehow«water» turned into«vodka» @ Mama Wok — Somehow«Tea Smoked Duck» turned into«Crispy Duck» Fortunately, things have always worked out in my favor; serendipity at work, I guess. Either that, or I’m just easy. Hmmm… Today I encountered another case of mistranslated food item order here. Somehow, the«pastitsio» I ordered became«spinach and feta stuffed chicken, buttery roasted potatoes, tomato orzo, and rice pilaf.» Don’t ask me how, he just pointed to stuff and asked if I’d like some, and I’d nod in response. Heck, it all looked delicious anyway, and I figured I couldn’t go wrong. And I definitely didn’t go wrong. Even trading half of my giant Styrofoam container of food with a wonderful friend for half of her Greek salad, I had more than enough to fill myself with. We ate across the street from PoP on a bench in Franklin Park on a beautiful, sun-drenched spring afternoon, and I couldn’t have asked for better company, better seating, or better dining. Lunch dining on the quick around McPherson? This place is a total winner in terms of tasty grub. Total bonus if you’re able to take it to go and enjoy it with a good friend outside.
