Unique wedding, event, and portrait photography is our specialty. Our style is photojournalistic, yet whimsical. We love to capture the unexpected, exciting, and beautiful moments that make your big day yours.

We’ve photographed — and attended — tons of events and weddings, including military, secular and non-​secular, multi-​day celebrations, LGBT, elopements, surprise proposals, and much more. One of the many things that we have learned: not only do you need to love your photographer’s pictures, but you also need to love the photographer. History

Established in 2005.

Hi, I’m Sara!

I founded Photos from the Harty in 2005, after graduating with a B.A. in Art and Education. Inspired by this career path, I soon began working on my MFA in Photography and Digital Imaging.

The name Harty was born from a riff on my maiden name and it stuck. At first, I was totally against it, but it’s grown on me over time (hey, at least it’s better than the elementary school version of Frankenstein, which followed me until boys stopped pushing girls down on the playground). I’ve since gotten married, but the nickname has proven to have staying power.

I photograph all types of events and weddings — gay, straight, lesbian, transgendered, secular, non-​traditional, even underwater — you name it, I’ll be apart of it — and love every minute of it!

Hi, I’m Sara!

I founded Photos from the Harty after graduating with a B.A. in Art and Education. Inspired by this career path, I began working on my MFA in Photography and Digital Imaging soon after.

Some things you should know about me:

–I grew up in the country; I love living in the city

–My favorite moments are the ones when I find myself smiling in silence

–My brother gave me a popcorn maker for my birthday; it might be the best thing I’ve ever received

–I grow herbs on our fire escape. The birds try to nest in them, confusing them for trees

–I shot stills for a horror movie. I tried to watch it; it scared me

–I believe love is love

–Snow will never lose its luster

–I read multiple books at one time because I get attached to characters

–My favorite color is red

–I am crazy about being on time. If I am 5 mins late, I’m pretty sure the world will end

–I love to capture real, natural, unbridled love

–I burn pretty much everything in the toaster

–I am VERY easily excited
