The worse customer service in Georgetown, this place close 8 pm but at 7pm the cashier decided didn’t serve, she told me that if we want the dessert we have to eat outside, while the other people cleaned the tables, I will never return here.

Nice breakfast. A bit too expensive and place gets very crowded at noon. You must arrive early on Sunday

Stopped by here on a Thursday afternoon during an off hour to get a quick lunch. We ordered and split the Tuscan sandwich(prosciutto, mozz, arugula, and pesto mayo) which they toasted for us and brought upstairs for us to eat inside. They added a small side salad too which was nice. The sandwich was delicious and the perfect size to split between two small people, and the upstairs dining area had a nice feel to it. Looking forward to trying their yummy looking pastries next time!

French bakery in DC. Real good for DC. Of course not as good as the ones in France but love their croissants!

I recently went back to Paul for lunch and breakfast multiple times because I am busy and want to get back to office soon(one block away). If you have choice, don’t go there on Saturday morning. The cashier is a very rude, unpleasant person. definitely not customer friendly. Also, if you order decaf, they don’t make it. They just add some water into the coffee cup to the top. I saw it. Then I said that if I knew it was going to be like that, I would like to ask room for milk. She dumped some of the watery coffee out and gave it to me with a long face: You did not ask room for milk! Well, I did not know they make coffee like that. I think that I will go buy some ground Illy coffee from store and make coffee in my office since we have the coffee maker. Why give money to a long face like this! Besides, they probably don’t use Italian coffee for decaf. I heard something about adding water to Americano espresso. Anyway, from now, I go somewhere else for breakfast and lunch. I get tired of their sandwiches and salads after awhile.

I’ve been to Paul several times and have never had a bad experience. The breads, pastries, quiche, and bread pudding have been a home run every time!

The place is quaint. The food is good overall, but whoever is in the kitchen seems like they aren’t familiar with French food. My husband got the onion soup, which a French restaurant should have down but it arrived cold and with just a very small smattering of cold grated cheese sprinkled on top. Not quite what he was after! Sent it back and they warmed it a bit but didn’t add more cheese and the cheese itself was not melted. The breads were good but the croissants and some pastries were quite pricey and very small.

I usually really enjoy Paul’s baked goods but today the almond croissant was the flattest, stalest I’ve tasted so far and when I wanted to go upstairs to have my coffee and croissant the waiter was really rude and told me it was only allowed for customers who were gonna dine. I argued that I wouldn’t have bought my food if I had known that and eventually they let me upstairs after a long argument. Turns out there was another woman there who also only had coffee, so I don’t know what the whole issue was about. Further on, the AC was so intense that I needs two extra layers(it was nice outside) and the waiter was very brusque when I asked about the wifi«we don’t have any». Won’t ever come back here!

Nice atmosphere and the food and coffee was good but not great. Main gripe is that they had one guy taking orders, serving food, seating customers and handling the register. Would it kill them to hire one more person to cut the wait times in half?

The worst. Don’t be fooled by the sleek exterior. You will be served week old bread sandwiches stuffed with tasteless ingredients. All the while being handled by the rudest staff. The individual working the foods station didn’t seem to speak english and tried giving the same sandwich to all 3 of us, when everyone actually wanted something else. The cashier looked at me like i had 2 heads when i had the audacity to ask for a glass of water. Don’t even get me started on her reaction when my friend wanted her sandwich toasted. Long story short, I am no longer friends with the individual that recommended this crap hole.

Paul’s gets my five stars. We stumbled in here after a 5K held on Georgia University’s Campus and needed some coffee and grub. We did not know that the downstairs was for to-go and upstairs was to dine-in but we were told that as we got up to the counter. That aside, we went upstairs and had the most phenomenal waiter I’ve had in a long time. We were seated right away in a booth in the corner. We were also seated next to two young women who were not only rude to the waiter but just obnoxious. He handled it with the utmost courtesy. We all ordered different food items. My friend got the eggs benedict with salmon without bread(gluten free friend), my other friend got the breakfast platter and I went with the egg white omelette with mushrooms, ham and swiss cheese. We also all ordered a round of coffee and waters. The food here is fantastic. The portions are quite large so beware of that, but the actual food is just top notch. I also really enjoyed the black coffee I had. If I lived in this city I’d be here on the regular. The actual location is very quaint. The upstairs(the dine-in section) was an old looking loft with historical items situated around it. It is a small location so I’d understand coming early if needed. I cannot commend our waiter more though. After how he handled those two young women… Great food, great location, great coffee. I will be back when I come back to visit!

3.5 stars. Am on a quest to find the perfect éclair in D.C. I may have found it. The mocha one at Paul’s was delicious — and infinitely more interesting than the chocolate one. I don’t want to give more stars until I have tried more of the food. It’s a lovely setting: off M Street, on Wisconsin, tucked away, like a sweet Parisian boutique. Will definitely be back.

We noticed this place when walking down Wisconsin to Frye and decided to stop in for macarons. The staff is very pleasant and the display is very beautiful but the coffee and mini macaroons didn’t really pack much flavor. The inside of the shop area is also very small, so people standing in line either block those trying to get out or people inadvertently cut in front of you in line without realizing it.

Box of macarons is a little on the pricey side, but they are pretty good. Not amazing, not terrible, just pretty good. However, they do have a tasty chocolate croissant. Workers could use some pep in their attitudes.

Only in America will you get served a jumbo macaroon. Disappointing. Correct me if I’m wrong but the Paul in France doesn’t have the ginormous ones. First time in and my coffee was surprisingly weak. And my éclair was… just too sweet. I am used to petit fair at French pastries shops. But the ambiance transported me back to Paris. The girl behind the counter was sweet with her French accent. I’ll go back for those yummy looking sandwiches that lay teasingly behind the glass. I’m going for espresso next trip

Review for the mini macarons only. I went all over Georgetown picking up as many different macarons from all over and Paul has the best tasting ones! It has a light crunch exterior and as you finish your bite it’s chewy and soft. I think they were a little too sweet when compared to other macarons in the vicinity but overall very strong flavors that come through. Other places I have been in the area, other well known establishments, their macarons are dry and few started to crumble before coming reaching home. I think I found my favorite place to pick up French macarons.

Came here to rest and have a cup of tea in Georgetown. Only sat in the takeout section which is a little bit cramped but the croissant were good enough. The staff is a little bit surly.

I went there around 3 pm today and it was pretty crowded. Most tables were full of we ended up sitting next to a table that had dirty dishes and was yet to be cleaned. Not exactly a cute first impression. I ordered a small Cappuccino and a Pistachio Macaron. My cappuccino was accidentally given to a gentleman that ordered the same thing after me so I had to wait longer as they made me another. The cappuccino was mediocre and not worth the hefty price tag. The pistachio macaron on the otherhand, was pure perfecton. It was the size of my hand so it was like eating a sandwich. Perfectly baked cookie with a crust that slightly cracks as you bite into it. The cream was smooth and sweet but did not overpower the cookie itself. Perfect 5⁄5. Sometimes bakeries make the filling too frosting-y and it ends up being too sweet – Not at Paul’s. I would come here again for the macarons and may try their delicious looking pastries. After tax you are looking at around $ 6 per macaron.

I really love this place. I was in Georgetown today and needed to get some work done for a few hours. I found Paul and the great seating area upstairs. It offers sandwiches, soups, salads, but also coffee and french pastries, which is what they are known for. I sat in a corner seat upstairs and offered a great view of the intersection of M St and Wisconsin. Love it. I got the coffee and chocolate crossant which were perfect. Highly recommend this café!

This bakery-chain is in the perfect location in Georgetown. I was in town for a wedding and happened to find this bakery/café while walking back to the ferry. The one thing I tried were their macarons. Not the best, but not the worse I have ever had. The middle crème was very hard in my opinion and it is very sweet, comparing to the ones I had from NYC and Philadelphia. Although they have great service and the décor is very quaint and French like. They have a fast pace service downstairs for their take out, which is what we had done since I just wanted some sweets.
