I really enjoy this place for lunch. Their biryani, in particular, is really good(Lamb is the best, IMO. Chicken is also pretty good, but needs the yogurt sauce else it can get a little dry). The service in particular is very good– they are always very friendly. A great addition to L’Enfant plaza’s lunch scene.

It’s ok to have it for the very first time and for a very spicy experience with rude restaurant’s worker.

This is a great place if you are celiac. I typically take home dinner from this place a couple of times a month and my wife has celiac. She has always fells great afterwards and loves the food. Zameer is the manager and he runs a friendly and organized place. Be sure to check with him to make sure what you are ordering is gluten free — most dishes are. I love the butter chicken with okra and spinach. The fish is very good and the lentils and chickpeas too.

This place is pretty legit. I ordered the chicken biryani(basmati rice + chicken + lots of spices), and was not disappointed. The selection of chutneys they have on the side bar are pretty good. Was going for the hot chutney(which was good), but also accidentally grabbed a splash of the pomegranate chutney, and was pleasantly surprised at how it mixed well with the rest of the dish. Lots of the other stuff behind the glass looked good too, but that’ll have to wait for another visit.

I rarely write reviews on Unilocal unless something is really good. Naan & beyond is by far one of the best lunch spots around L’Enfant Plaza. The butter chicken is amazing(!) and for $ 8.50 they give you a heaping scoop of it along with a veggie option rice and naan. All really good and I have enough for leftovers for the next day. I’ve gone there at least ten times and have always left happy. This place is a hidden gem, it’s tucked away behind California tortilla and church’s chicken so the lines aren’t quite as long as some other places with inferior food(I’m looking at you panda express).

I’ve seen this in the newly remodeled L’Enfant Plaza and told myself I’d give it a try one day. Today was the day, and boy am I mad at myself! I ordered the daily special which was lamb kebab with salad and rice. When they scooped the lamb out of a vat of liquid instead of pulling it off of a grill, my mind said«Run! Fast!» I should have listened. The meat may have been on a grill at some point, as it did have skewer holes in it. I guess they submerged the cooked meat in liquid to retain moisture. If that was the case, it was an epic fail. That was the driest, and most flavorless lamb I have ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth. The rice was flavorless as well. The only saving grace for the meal were the chutneys. They offered different flavors and I chose mint and hot chutney. They provided some flavor and gave a valiant attempt to save this lackluster meal. Service was fast, but the food was not good and to spend $ 14 at lunch time and not be satisfied was as hard to swallow as the dry lamb I was served. I may give them one more try, but no time soon.

Butter chicken was GREAT… garlic naan was just OK, but better than garlic naan I’ve gotten from other places. Definitely will return.

I have been looking forward to this place opening as I love Indian food. Since it opened I have eaten there twice and was disappointed both times. The first time I had the special meat combo with butter chicken. The chicken was lacking flavor, the rice was plain, and the naan was dry. The second time I had the chicken biryani which was also disappointing. Too bad. I think that the owners of this place need to eat at Kohinoor Dhaba in Crystal City to learn what fast food Indian food should taste like.
