Molecule Salon

I emailed the salon before I went in because I had been to two salons and the second was for a color correction from the first. I needed an expert and Eugenio did that for me. He knew exactly what I was looking for and went straight to work. He had two assistants help dye my hair, which is super long, so it went by quite quickly. The only downside to that was, my head was in so much pain! The pulling and tugging from every which way was intense. Eugenio kept circling back and saying «bello» and told me to trust him. The shampoo was amazing! The girl also gave me a neck massage which was heaven. Afterwards, Eugenio really took his time to perfect the cut and style. I was really happy with the result. I went from a failed red ombré to a dark auburn. It also helped that he lushed over how beautiful my hair was: D We ended the night with a huge hug. Overall, pretty swell experience. For once, I’m leaving a salon happy!

Followed the wonderful Michael here from Axis. He does the best blow outs! He also does a great job cutting my thick, curly hair. And he’s so funny and personable, too. Just heard Sue from Axis has moved here as well. She is also great with curly hair. Pretty space and nice front desk staff.

Great salon. All the stylists are excellent and Eugenio has just given me the best cut ever.

I tracked down Sue and Richard, both formerly with Axis, to Molecule and was so happy to find them. Sue has been my stylist since 2008 and is a master in the range of services — cut, color, wave, styling. She offers ideas and recommendations, but always listens. She’s also super fun and engaged with her clients. I’ve also had my hair done by Richard, who is also very talented and nice as can be. I believe Molecule, which I had gone to a few times years ago (and stopped), has changed management/​ownership since then, and has a friendly vibe and very nice staff. Love it!

Full disclosure, I never actually had a service here. But that is because they refused to let me use the Living Social voucher I purchased, even though it was not expired or invalid for any other reason. When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist went to ask the manager about it, and when she came back on she told me the manager said they simply decided to not accept them any longer, and that was that — the manager didn’t even get on the phone himself/​herself. The stylists may be wonderful, and the girl who answered the phone was lovely, but I really felt the need to let others know how they run their business and treat prospective clients.

Sue, Richard and George from Axis are all now at Molecule. I saw Sue again for the first time in months and my color has never looked better. She is amazing and never disappoints. She makes my natural highlights come to life and you would never know I have gray roots thanks to her amazing talent. My cut is perfect too and I always get compliments on my hair. If you want to look amazing go to Molecule and see Sue, Richard or George… You will be satisfied and want to keep going back for more… I am blessed to have such a great place and people to see to take care of my hair…

This review is really only for Sebastian as I have not used the other hairstylists here. He is fantastic and really takes his time doing my hair. I’ve tried other stylists over the years and my hair just never turns out the way it does when Sebastian does it. I’ve been following him around for the last 9 years because he’s THAT good!
Everyone else at the salon is really friendly and the girls that wash your hair are fantastic… a massage is always included :).

I bought an Amazon coupon because it was close to my office. I looked up the reviews on here for the gel manicures and they seemed decent so I purchased.
I called this morning and asked if they had any appointments today and they had an appointment available at noon. Score.
I walked in and the receptionist asked me if I would like anything to drink and listed off cappuccinos, lattes, etc. Um, yes, please. I’d love a cappuccino.
Marcela did a great job on my gel manicure and she was also very sweet and talkative throughout the entire session.
This was a great experience. I will be back.

I like this salon a lot. I certainly don’t feel like Im in Washington when I go there. My hair stylist, Richard, moved to Molecule in September so I knew exactly what I was getting when I tracked him down. I will be going back. As always, I’m pleased with my hair. I’m always happy with my hair after seeing Richard.

I highly recommend Molecule Salon and Benoni as a stylist. I’m a longtime client of Benoni and followed him to Molecule, which is what brought my to this location. And I’m happy he did.
While it’s a little hidden, inside an office building almost behind Vapianos, it’s an undiscovered gem. It doesn’t receive as much foot traffic as it should, so if you’re reading this, take the opportunity to check it out. You’re guaranteed to receive wonderful service from all of the staff, including the owners who come to introduce themselves, complimentary refreshments, a killer cut & color and… a great head massage by the shampoo receptionist.
Benoni has always been wonderfully accommodating with my schedule — which is hard when working a 9:00 to 5:00pm in the city. He cares about his clients and easy to talk and joke around with. Since I’ve known him, he’s completely transformed my hair. He asks questions and gives you options for what would be best for your color and style — and texture. My hair used to be very dry. He taught me how to treat my hair better and use products to my advantage (which I NEVER did, I hated when stylists try to sell me on things). He does everything he can to make sure that I leave happy and come back for my next appointment with healthy hair. I highly recommend him for full/​partial highlights and haircuts.
Last night was my second time back in the salon, and I brought along my mom for a nice mother/​daughter night. Benoni and Michael were able to move things around so we could sit together and talk while they made us pretty. My mom went for a color darker than what she was used to, but in the end it really made her eyes pop. It’s a perfect color for fall and she looked fabulous. I opted for my usual partial blonde highlights, but switched it up with a new cut. Benoni added longer bangs, fun layers and «feathered» my hair. It looks and feels great, and I would never in a million years have thought my hair could look feathery. Miracles do come true!
The guys offered us water, tea, cappuccinos, etc., and didn’t rush us out of the salon when we wrapped up towards closing time and wanted to take a picture with our new do’s. In addition to all of that, the place is clean, smells refreshing, and classy in décor. All around, if you’re going to spend time and money to get a haircut — and we all know how long it takes — then I highly recommend going here.

I try a different, highly recommended salon every year for a blow out before the White House Correspondents Dinner. This year I went to Molecule and the search for a great salon is over!
Got a beautiful blow out with natural looking curls that lasted ’til 2a and then some, a flawless mani/​pedi and party-​ready make up — all at very reasonable prices.
I will return to Molecule for sure next year. Great service, friendly staff, good looks!

Vanessa is just as good as everyone says she is. I had the best haircut of my life here. I went home and told my husband she gave me «hot girl hair.» But it is VERY pricey. I keep trying other places, but nothing measures up.

I love the warm and friendly atmosphere of this place! It’s always nice to come back to when visiting from NYC. Everyone here is talented and capable, and I absolutely adore the owners! But Sebastian has been doing my hair for years and he just knows what to do! I LOVE HIS CUTS! I love to find bargains when it comes to my wardrobe, and travel expenses, but there is something about a great cut that is priceless! Remember people, you get what you pay for and if feeling great about a cut is what you want, you have to pay for it!

After going to the same hairdresser for almost 20 years, I decided it was time for something new and was thrilled to discover Vanessa at Molecule. She is a great stylist and skilled with highlights and color. She is awesome!

I’ve been going to Mercedes at Molecule for 3+ years now, and I can say without a doubt that the haircuts I’ve gotten from her are the best I’ve had. I have pretty thick, slightly coarse, sporadically wavy hair, and she is able to cut long layers into it that actually allow me to let it air dry and look good.
Before I started going to Mercedes, wearing my straightening iron out was pretty much the only way I could wear my hair down without feeling hideous. No more! I’m also irrationally finicky about getting my hair cut (can’t seem to get rid of the Rapunzel phase I’ve been going through recently…), and she always handles my neuroticism with grace and put me at ease. I’ve also gotten some great color gloss treatments from her over the years and if they weren’t so pricey, I would definitely get them more often than I can currently afford.
All in all, Molecule is a great (albeit kind of pricey) salon where even the assistants who wash your hair don’t skimp on the star treatment. I highly recommend Molecule salon and even more highly recommend scheduling your appointment there with Mercedes.

Obsessed with Vlady. Followed him from his previous days at the Watergate Salon to here… wouldn’t see anyone else as long as I’m in the area. He does wonders with my hair color and styling!

After bouncing around from salon to salon with each haircut, I was happy to finally land on this place. I had my hair cut every 3 – 4 weeks here exclusively with Franck. They spend 30 – 45 mins with each client, which is great. I have fine hair, and it’s difficult to cut. This is the only place that I’ve found where my hair would be cut perfectly each time.

I love coming here not only because the salon is close to a metro and easy to get to, but because Vanessa is a great stylist. I have been coming to her for haircuts and color and she also does great make up (seriously, I looked like a goddess). She is professional, easy to talk to and listens to what you want. The salon is beautiful and all the staff is very nice. The space is very clean (not a lot of equipment cluttering space). I think that makes it much more relaxing.
Appointment management — Vanessa and the salon so far has been extremely good on keeping appointment times and minimizing wait. I think being able to keep appointments timely is a very important especially if I need to juggle an appointment in the middle of a work day.

If there was a review for Celina I would write mine there. I have been following her around to various salons in the city, and thankfully she was made a partner at Molecule so she and her husband are there to stay.
If you are super finicky about your hair like I am (thanks mom for bringing me to high end salons my whole life…), go to Molecule. Yes it’s pricey, but it’s worth it. Celina and her staff all know what they are doing. The cuts and colors come out perfectly every time. No streaks or chunks, no weird colors. The shampooing could be a bit better (ie, massage my head more, please), but being that my hair comes out healthy and shiny and stays that way every time, I’ll overlook it. Booking your appointment is a cinch as well. I have called just 24 hours in advance and booked an appointment with Celina for the time I request no problem.
I am constantly getting compliments on my hair and it’s all thanks to Celina. Go here and get hair like you see in the commercials.

While continuing to explore hair salons in the DC area, I went to Salon Molecule for a complimentary hair consultation. The hair stylist seemed knowledgeable on what worked with my hair. I immediately made an appointment within the next week to have him trim and color my hair.
While I was in the chair, he went on and on about his personal drama, which I did not want to hear. He discussed his age and said that he was supposed to marry a 23-​year-​old the previous weekend, but the wedding was called off. He also mentioned that he didn’t get along with his family and hadn’t talked to them in seven years. I think he talked about other crazy things about himself, but I zoned out by that time. Then he asked me where I lived, but I was vague about the location of my neighborhood, because apparently, he lived near me.
The salon was stylish with all bright-​white décor, but lacked warmth. Although my hair style, hair products and prices were decent, I chose not to return to Molecule just to avoid listening to the hair stylist’s drama.
