This place is good! Very good! Just not sure about spending nearly $ 9 for an Italian sandwich good though. The sanwiches are flavorful, made with fresh ingredients, properly seasoned, and moist on the inside and not greasy on the exterior(a product of using just the right amount of oils & condiments). Food is ready in a reasonable amount of time. 4 stars because of the high price

Finally found the best cheese steak in DC. The staff was super friendly and food came out fast. I searched all over DC for a good cheese steak can’t believe I didn’t find this place sooner. Will definitely be back.

Saturday, 2:00PM. Quickie: + Sammy quality * Service + Cleanliness * Turnaround time + Layout And then??? Capriotti’s over Subway. ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. The Bobbie + Seasoning in the stuffing enhanced the sandwich, complements the tart cranberry. Constructive comments: *Option to compost *Source ingredients

Meh. Maybe I’m spoiled by the thanksgiving sandwich at nearby jetties, but this one was pretty weak. A pittance of cold, shredded turkey amidst globs of similarly flaccid stuffing. Not the worst sandwich I’ve ever had but why pay $ 9 for a Stuffing sandwich with maybe 2 oz of turkey at best? Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Bub and Pops, no brainer.

Tried it for the first time last week and i loved it. I had the chicken cheese steak and it was so good although it made the bread a little soggy as with philly cheese steak sandwiches, ha. I checked in and it was able to get a small bag of free chips with my meal. The meal is great but customer services can be improved. The cashier had no patient and she was just talking so fast and not taken my order properly, had to keep repeating myself. Other than that, it was good and i will definitely be going back again for lunch

My favorite is the Slaw-b-Joe. But I like this particular location because the people at the register are so welcoming and super friendly. The good is great, but to receive their appreciation for your custom is what sets this sandwich shop above similar shops in the DC area.

I had high expectations for Capriotti’s after reading the Unilocal reviews. I’m a huge fan of making sandwiches with my thanksgiving leftovers so I obviously ordered the Bobbie. The sandwich itself tasted good, but my coworkers and I agreed that serving it hot would have made it much better. The quality of the ingredients wasn’t anything phenomenal. Stuffing tasted like it was out of the box and since the turkey wasn’t hot, it just wasn’t that good. I’m glad that the turkey wasn’t dry though! Cranberry sauce was probably my favorite part of the sandwich. I can’t give Capriotti’s more than 3 stars because their food doesn’t justify their high prices. A 9 in sub is 10 $…really? Potbelly is about 7 $. If Capriotti’s used quality ingredients, like homemade stuffing, then I would give them 4.5 stars. But honestly the sandwich is not worth the money. Maybe I’ll stop by another time and request that they toast my sandwich, if that’s possible. But for now I’m in no hurry to return.

Thanks to management for the response to my review and updating your hours. I’m sorry for what I wrote in hanger, but am glad that all others suffering from hanger will be saved the disappointment of leaving sans sandwich. While I did not redeem my free sandwich(because I don’t want to just be a Unilocal troll) my company ordered sandwiches for a meeting and I was able to snag one to save me from another hanger situation(really need to work on eating regularly…) It was a delicious sandwich and saving the day with such deliciousness makes up for prior disappointments. I’ll be back! :)

I used to go fairly regularly, but I’ll think twice next time. I’d typically get the cheesesteaks(hard to find a good one in this city) and they usually taste decent, but the quality of meat has gone down hill. My wife and I were met with large pieces of inedible gristle in our sandwiches this last trip, gross. Also the bread just seems off for some reason. Remember when Subway got dinged for using azodicarbonamide, the same chemical in yoga mats, in its bread as a conditioner? I have no evidence that Capriotti’s uses anything similar, but the last few times, my bread has been uncharacteristically chewy in a strange way. I’ve scoured the web and cannot find anything on the ingredients used in the bread one way or the other, which really makes me wonder what’s in there. I guess I’ll have to find another spot to satisfy the craving.

GOHERE. ESPECIALLYIFYOU’RE A FATTYVEGETARIANLIKEMEWHOHEARTSCOMFORTFOOD. Their vegetarian cheesesteak and veggie turkey sandwiches are the best! Disclaimer: I would have put 5 stars if their bread tasted good hours later, and if they hadn’t accidentally given me a sausage sandwich… instead of the vegetarian one I always order.

Went with the meatball sub for my first visit and just woke up from my coma to write this review… The meatball sub is fantastic. There were 3 types of cheese and just the right amount of sauce. The bread wasn’t too much and the meat was cooked to near perfection. Hiiiiighly recommend. I ordered without really thinking/reading(it’s my gift) and got the medium. Turns out the medium is a foot long. No way was I going to let a meatball sub beat me so we battled head-to-head. I thought I won. Thought. The food coma was real. And serious. For a work lunch I’d go with the small. Only knock is they don’t have meal combos. Drink and chips are sold separately. Apparently they also have cookies but I’m not a total maniac. Find this place and thank me later!

Arguably the best sub shop in DC. Huge portions and high quality food. Lots of amazing vegetarian options(fake turkey, veggie burger, and cheese). Service is super friendly, but sometimes a little inaccurate with orders. Ordering ahead for take-out is a good idea. Mobile app gives pretty good discounts. Open super late too, which is a plus. Store is nothing special to eat in, but clean and nice.

Great sandwiches for lunchtime or anytime! The cheese steak is the best in DC. The meat, cheese, and bread are quality. Also, they make it fast in an open kitchen. While waiting you can watch the news or sportscenter on their large screen TVs above. As for my cheese steak which I get with Russian dressing, they can put that on a highlight reel!

Overall Capriotti’s has some of the best cheesesteaks south of Philly. I’ve been to their Newark, DE and Chester, MD locations previously. I ordered the regular cheesesteak, pretty simple. It wasn’t nearly as good as the other locations, not as much meat and it didn’t extend to the end of the sub. The condiments were also sparse, which of course is easily fixed. Maybe it was a bad day, the place is mobbed at lunch and they do try to move quickly. I’ll give it another try sometime. I’ll keep this at 3 starts but it really was about 2.5.

I’ve tried the Bobbie and the cheesesteak. Both are tasty but the cheesesteak was more satisfying and probably one of the better ones I’ve had in the area but not as good as Al’s Steakhouse in Alexandria. They should toast the bread on the Bobbie and warm up the stuffing. Also it was kind of disappointing to find out that they don’t serve fries.

Great selection of sandwiches and packaged in cute boxes. When we had this as a Med-Rep lunch in our clinic. The turkey with cranberry sauce was to die for. Right amount of cranberry combined with the delicious bread just made it perfect.

Came across my review for Capriotti’s, and wanted to update it, because I felt my initial one was a little too enthusiastic. Nothing against Cap’s but I think I’ve quickly tired of the sandwiches, which all have started to taste the same to me. I usually get the Cole Turkey or Slaw Be Joe; both are WAY to mayo-y(they come with cole slaw, mayo, AND russian dressing!), so I usually try to lighten that stuff! The chicken cheese steak is the favorite of my co-workers. The sandwiches are decent, but I’m lowering my review to 3 stars. Here’s why: Prices have increased, I believe in the range of 50 cents to a dollar per sandwich for 9 inchers and more for 12″. I no longer consider Cap’s to be such good value. Orders take a surprisingly long time to be prepared, and the space to wait for them is crowded and unpleasant.(Today, they forgot my order until I eventually found someone to talk to. At least the workers are super-friendly!) Ordering online is the way to go. Capriotti’s mobile app is brutal. Hard to use, you can’t use it to pay, and for a free sub, you need to visit 10 times in a 90 day period, which I won’t be able to hit. Hope it improves. Still a decent spot for a sandwich, but I no longer consider it a lunch«go-to» destination.

Finally a sub place in DC that serves normal size sandwiches! I’m from NJ, so 6-inch subs might as well be an appetizer. At Capriotti’s you have small(9″), medium(12″), and large(20″) options. My favorite is their meatball sub & I’ve gone out of my way for that sub a few times. I’ve eaten every size of that sub in one sitting. I tried to save half of the 20″ for lunch, but it was just too good not to finish. I’ve tried their Italian sub as well, but it didn’t match the awesomeness of the meatball. The meats on their Italian aren’t the meats I’d normally get on mine, so I think I just had a different expectation. Still a good sandwich, just not my style. I really want to try the Bobbie because a Thanksgiving sandwich that’s available year round just sounds amazing. I’ll check back if I can get myself not to order a meatball sub next time I go there!

I grew up in Delaware. That being said, I don’t think I had ever had a Capriotti’s sub until last week. Sure, I ate tons of subs back in my day, but they were always from Wawa(#1 in my book). I wanted to try this place since my DE friends were always buzzing about it, and I needed a quick sandwich on my way home from happy hour. I got the Italian, but it really wasn’t anything spectacular. The bread wasn’t really that impressive, which is a big deal to me. Plus, I had to add hot peppers when I got home because there wasn’t enough flavor as is. Next time, I’ll try the Bobbie(Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing sandwich), but until then, I’ll stick with Wawa, Bub and Pop’s, or Taylor Gourmet right down the street.

About the only thing that can get me to brave the post office on M Street is the promise of a sandwich from Capriotti’s on the way back to my office afterwards. The thought of a veggie sub makes waiting in line and getting terrible customer service at the post office almost bearable. Even the simplest cheese sandwich here takes on an almost epic feel. First of all, the subs are gigantic. They’re apparently the same size as at Subway, but their 12 inches is apparently a bit more robust. The bread is fluffy and rich and they pile on all of the cheeses(without even having to ask or pay extra). It’s the kind of submarine sandwich that the cheese breaks out of the side of on every bite. And their sauce is just perfection. However, it’s their fake turkey sandwich that is my go to. More specifically, their Veggie Cole Turkey. It’s layers of soy slices covered in some of the most delicious cole slaw ever. When it falls out of the side, I actually use a fork and treat it as a salad there’s so much. Eating here does incur some premium prices though. Their large sandwich almost tops the $ 10.00 mark. It’s filling to the stomach but certainly a bit too emptying to the wallet to fully appreciate. Also, it does take a while for them to make the subs for some reason I’m not sure of(it’s not like they don’t have the ingredients laid out like any other sandwich shop). But, unlike next door at the post office, the end results here are well worth the wait.
