MAC Cosmetics

I had been wanting to pick up a bottle of M.A.C. face and body. I just needed to get a match for my skin tone. I went in to the Union Station location and went to the register asking for assistance. I was told to someone out be right with me. I waited for about five minutes. Then, I overheard the woman who had told me that someone would help me, tell her coworker, «she can wait, I’m going on break» and waved over at me. This is not only poor customer service, it’s blatant rudeness. What should have been a easy sale turned into me leaving highly offended and looking somewhere else for a similar product.

Worst location ever. Walked in on my way out of town, tried to pick up the CC cream. Was told MAC didn’t offer a CC cream. Well what the heck was I color matched with at the Friendship Hts. location?! Just say, «We don’t carry that product at this location». Don’t look at me like I’m crazy. Sales reps should know the whole product line, not just what’s in «their» store. The sales woman also acted like I was bothering her. Never had a good experience in this location. Won’t be back.

Before a big event, I made an appointment to get my makeup done here. Alexandria did not disappoint. She did a stellar job. I told her I was going to be on stage and wanted a dramatic look, and she totally understood and delivered. She’s creative and cool and fun, and I ended up with loads of compliments. Major ups to Alexandria!
The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is because I think it’s chintzy for MAC not to give even a 5 or 10 percent discount on purchases when you’re paying to get your makeup done there. But the staff here was great, and I got some terrific tips from Alexandria I plan to use in future … with the makeup I already have. I totally would have bought new makeup if I’d gotten some kind of tiny discount, MAC.

I’ve been here exactly one time when they were overstaffed. Every other time I have to wait for a free associate to dig out whichever product I’m trying to buy. God forbid you didn’t know what you wanted or were waiting for advice, you might be there all day!

I walked in and was greeted immediately by the hostess. She even preceded to help me with finding a good lipstick and blush to match my skin tone. She helped me all the way up to the checkout process. I didn’t quite catch her name but she was awesome and friendly and even gave me great tips! Looking at some of these other reviews maybe I just got lucky, but if she is in the store and I happen to be wondering around union station then I will be back!

They have all the product I need but customer service is TERRIBLE! (from the employees to the manager) I went in to buy a foundation but the rep suggested I try on a lipstick. I did but when I told him I wouldn’t be buying the lipstick he caught an attitude at the register, walked away and the manager had to ring me up. She didn’t apologize for his actions and had an attitude herself. I understand how retail can be but I’m not spending my hard earned money on foolery service. If I didn’t need the foundation on the spot I would have went to the other locations. They really need new employees

Where are the adults?!
I’ve been trying to get some ideas for a new look. Nothing drastic, but a break from my daily make-​up routine. Something that better highlights and accentuates my most fabulous features. I’m in a different phase of my life, and my career, now and I want my makeup to reflect the executive that I’m on track to becoming. That said, I thought I would stop in a get a little «professional» advice.
What did I get instead? The turn-​up crew, in all of their rachet splendor! Blasting «trap» music and dancing around the store. It was like I was at a party… and not in a good way.
I told the girl who was supposed to be helping me what I was looking for, and what colors/​products I was trying to avoid. This girl brought me every single thing that I said I didn’t like/didn’t want. Plus, her recommendations were horrible and I could barely keep her attention for more than 5 minutes. At one point, she disappeared completely without saying anything. Did anyone else step in and try to help me? Nope. One associate was standing outside in front of the Nine West store FaceTiming with someone. The rest of them were either hanging out in the back or chatting amongst themselves and touching up their own makeup.
I should have been wary from the beginning. The girl who was supposed to be helping me, even with all that light in the store, was obviously oblivious to the fact that her super-​thick foundation (oh, her poor pores!) was about 2 shades too light for her face. And her matte lipstick was caked on and dry. Not a look I wanted to emulate at all.
Finally, I gave up and started trying out products and colors on my own. I finally found a few things that I liked, only to find out that they were out of what I wanted. I asked when they would be back in stock and they very dryly told me «Oh, in a few weeks or so.»
They did have one of my items in stock, but it took 15 minutes just to ring up ONE item. I had three sales associates look me in the face while I was standing at the counter waiting to check out. One of them went right to the back to go on his break while the others just stood there trying to avoid eye-​contact. Mind you… I’m the only person in line. Finally I asked if one of them could ring me up so I could get out of there. I had already missed two of my trains waiting on the sales associate who called herself helping me and was about to miss a the last one while these two were standing around doing nothing. I don’t care whose client, whose sale, or whose commission is whose… get your customers taken care of so they can be on their way. The longer I have to wait, the more likely I am to put my items back and either buy from another retailer, or from another MAC store, if I really have my heart set on a particular product.
This store is the worst. The kids who work in here are not helpful at all. They have a lot to learn about professionalism… and about makeup.

I walked in a little hurried in between a train from NYC and my anniversary dinner with my husband. Having forgotten my toiletry bag on the trip I was looking a little disheveled. Astra gave me a quickie makeover, sold me some awesome tinted moisturizer, and said «I’m just happy that I made your night!»

I have been in this store 3 times in the last year. I have yet to have anyone bother to help me with my purchases. Each time I have stopped a clerk to ask for advice and they’ve all promised faithfully that someone else would help in «just a minute». As I mentioned that help has never materialized even after waiting 20 minutes. Considering that this store is in a busy train station where the majority of customers will be on their way to catch a scheduled train, the lack of service is incomprehensible and breathtaking.

I came in to exchange a lipstick, not to mention being 3 days pass my receipt time frame & Alicia was kind enough to accommodate me. Kudos to Alana/​Akasha (sorry) for exuding great customer service over the phone before I made my trip down.
Even with the busy flow of customers and make up applications, Alicia was kind enough to to answer my questions, even though I only wear lipstick & lip glosses.
Let the artistic of Make Up 101 begin! Not only did she answer my basic cover up question, Alicia showed me so many natural & basics products that was not heavy & easy to apply.
After a few «may I try this» my face was transformed with a fresh & light look… my «lipstick only mantra» has evolved. My face looks like I got a facial & full make over. Geesh, her skills are straight bananas & with the quickness of her tutorial & brush mode:-) She was very personable & wasn’t all about making a sale.
She wrote down the products she used & gave me her business card for any more questions or needs… after great customer service like that, I wouldn’t shop at another location.
Alicia has that international spirit & business savvy rapport to the «T». I look forward to my M.A.C. evolution one lipstick & or application at a time LOL.

This location has the worst customer service and has brought the representation of the brand to an unbelievable low. I have been to this particular location multiple times, as it is closest store to my home. The majority of my experiences here have been horrific. Today I entered the store knowing exactly what I wanted but waited 30 minutes before I was acknowledged or helped. I spent nearly an hour in the store to purchase 4 items, 3 of which they had in stock. Speaking of which, this location is poorly stocked and rarely have the classic MAC favorites or the new releases.
The professionalism of the staff was alarming. I will never buy a single item from this location again. I will gladly shop on line and return items I don’t like or travel to metro center or Georgetown. Corporate should be embarrassed to have such a dysfunction store (on so many levels) represent their company. They need to clean house and get better leadership or management at the Union Station location.
I would give negative stars not only for my experience today but for the multiple times I’ve visited this store and I wasn’t treated, they did have multiple items I was shopping for and the poor customer service (even when the store is practically empty)

I frequently shop MAC stores so I don’t expect much when I go into a crowded store however I was extremely disappointed when I went against my better judgement and gave this store another try. I live close by and really needed my usual staples and something special. I waited patiently after picking out the products I normally buy.
Several clerks passed me without bothering to acknowledge me. One did however he was busy with a customer and said he’d help me shortly. A clerk exited the back room and asked if I needed help and I said I needed help with holiday eye shadow looks. She proceeds to tell me that the sets were going to be cheaper and heads toward some. When I told her I already had similar colors and asked about her combination, she seemed to get annoyed as though I was keeping her from something. Now I’m Black and she was Black so race is not the issue. She simply had a funky disposition for someone in customer service.
She was more interested in looking at herself in the mirror than doing her job. By the way, if the clerks in that store (male and female) put as much effort into customer service as they do their own makeup application, the experience there would be stellar.
If you’re looking for more than picking out your own products, avoid this store.
To add insult to injury, she put someone else’s frost lipstick in my bag and did not give me my Studio Fix NW50 that I picked out on my own.

After my horrible MAC experience at the PG Plaza mall, I headed to the Union Station MAC store hopeful, but with expectations not really set that high. I should have given them more credit. The staff was awesome.
I strolled in looking for a gift set for a friend’s birthday and was greeted immediately upon entering the store. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, an associate was never very far away and was ready and willing to assist me. I showed her the gift set that I was looking to purchase and she let me know that they had sold out of it weeks ago. Bummer… but she went the extra mile to call around to other MAC stores in the area to see if they had any in stock. Of course, they were sold out too but the associate then offered to create the gift bag’s content for me (since they had everything in stock except the gift bag itself).
I was highly impressed with such awesome customer service. Anytime I need to purchase my MAC goods, I’ll definitely be heading to this location.

I’ve only been here once but had a stellar experience.
I was greeted with a genuine smile and hello when I walked in. I was poking around at the foundation table when a rep came over.
I have crazy skin and was looking for a wheat-​free foundation or powder. She knew right off the top of her head which products had wheat, and what function it served.
Everyone here was really lovely, and their makeup was on point. They all looked utterly fabulous– I’d totally trust them to help me pick products and that’s saying something. I’ll definitely be back!

I wish I could give it zero stars…
In the decade or so that I’ve been buying MAC products, I know I’ve patronized well over 25 stores/​kiosks. My experiences haven’t always been stellar but I can honestly say I’ve never had a «bad» experience… until yesterday. I walked into this store around 8 with the intent of purchasing a new lip combo. There were no other customers but there were three employees in the store; two talking behind the counter and one sweeping up. Like most MAC stores, the store layout is open so I know each of them saw me, and yet not one of them opened their mouths to say «Hello», «Good Evening», «Can I help you with something?». After about two minutes of nothing, I left the store because I refuse to spend a dime any place that can’t take 2 seconds to acknowledge my presence. But as I got a few feet away, I stopped, turned around and decided to voice my displeasure. After all, everyone has an off night and it may have just been an understanding.
I again walked into the store. The same scene greeted me – 2 chatting and 1 sweeping. I walked within ten feet of the sweeping employee (an Asian male) and still had to say «Excuse me» in order for him to look up and acknowledge me. When he finally did, I relayed to him that I’d just been in the store and that no one bothered to greet me or offer a hand. At this point, given my past experiences with MAC, I expected an apology and maybe even an offer of assistance (I still needed that lip combo). Instead, he looked me dead in my eye and said «Oh, ok.» No apology and certainly no attempt to assist me.
I will never in my life buy anything from this store (especially since there’s a Blue Mercury with Bobbi Brown AND a friendly staff right next door). MAC may want to give the staff here a crash course in customer service and not depend on the fact they’re located in Union Station.

So I must be having a bad day with retail stores, or maybe because it’s Monday. I walk into Mac looking for pink Friday. The sales associate said it was limited addition so I asked her could she help me pick another color out., she told me that there weren’t any light colors like pink Friday … I was expecting to buy some lipstick regardless but she never went on to show me anything… So I left, obviously this was a sign not to buy anything.
