OMG… just got home and realized how awesome my service was… brought in several pictures antique was one for glass replacement. .perfect! And the tall handsome line backer African American gentleman… can’t miss him… got my husband his perfect father’s day present. .can’t say enough great things about ALL the staff… keep up the great work

Evelyn and Mark at the paint counter were incredibly rude and not at all helpful. Worst customer service I have ever received at a Hardware store. The employees in the lighting and other departments are SO helpful and nice. Need nicer and more competent people working in the paint section.

Friendly, helpful, fast, and they take time to explain stuff. And there’s free popcorn and a clean bathroom that’s available to the public.

In advance of bad weather they were helpful, well-​stocked, patient, and friendly. Glad to have them as our local hardware store.

If you need something, you should just come directly to the store — calling this store is like calling Comcast, I’ve done it several times and it’s easier to make the 20 minute walk over.
Prices are high compared to Home Depot, but reasonable given that they’re renting a spot on 14^th St in NW DC.
Wide selection of odds and ends city-​dwellers might need for minor work.

Don’t buy the Christmas light from Logan’s they contain lead ! The outside of the package says wash your hands after use! This is crap! How can they sell something that contains lead. And that is known world wide to cause cancer and birth defects. !

These guys are amazing. Every staff member treats every customer like an old friend. All ya gotta do is look like you can’t find something and one of the staff inherently senses it I think, and will show up to help. Also pet friendly.

I live just down the street and I go to Logan at least once a week. Every employee is startlingly kind and helpful. It is almost overwhelming how happy I am when I’m at Logan. I recommend this to anyone who needs anything ever!

When I called and said hello, I was hung up on. I called again and said that I wasn’t happy about being hung up and wanted a question answered to which I was responded to by a very rude women with a horrible tone «ok what». IF this is how their customer service is over the phone, I don’t even want to know what it is like in person and don’t wish for anyone else to find out.

Love this place.
Everyone here is really helpful. Extremely efficient, too. I love that they communicate via headset to let the rest of the staff team know that you’re approaching and what you’re in need of.
And they love my dog.

This place is totally awesome! The staff is so so helpful and friendly, the Customer Service is off the charts. Dave helped me upstairs, really cracked me up. I got keys copied, a plunger, twine, and some good information about a question I had with my outlets.
I just moved to the area so I will definitely be back, probably weekly! :)

The key broke off in my front door. I brought it in and Rashaad was amazing! He helped get the key out of the lock and made some extra copies. I went in expecting to have to just buy a new lock but he repaired it and helped me out a lot.

I’ve been going to Logan Hardware for years but a recent experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth.
I was mugged around a month ago, and in my bag was my set of keys for my house– so I went to Logan to get my roommates set copied. Again, because I did not have my credit and debit cards, I had gone into my bank and took out $ 200, which they gave to me in two separate $ 100 bills.
I went into Logan Hardware and everything seemed fine until I got home and realized the cashier had shorted me $ 20! I tried to give them a call and no one answered. I was home at that point and didn’t want to have to trek back. I had chalked it up to a bad occurrence, and given my circumstances decided to concentrate on normalizing my life after having been mugged.
However, this weekend I went back to pick up an AC filter. No one helped me and I felt super overwhelmed with the options. Very frustrating. Will not be back.

Great, friendly staff. This store has the basics for minor home fixtures. They also have a small plant section. This store carries Benjamin Moore paint… note that you may need to wait to get assistance with paint.

The key cutting department gets a five star review and my undying gratitude. Thanks! They made a copy of a key that had shorn off in a bike lock and the copy works like a dream!

We visited the shop specifically for plants. It’s hard to find a neighborhood store with a decent selection. Logan’s didn’t disappoint! For a small location, I think they make the most of their space.
In particular, the shop had a nice selection of pet-​friendly plants. Most garden plants are toxic to dogs and cats, but flowers like zinnias, begonias, and most all edible herbs, are not. Logan’s offered multiple four-​legged-​friendly options, like lemon grass, catmint, begonias of all sorts, as well as lots of zinnias in a variety of colors, and a large selection of herbs in excellent condition.
You do have to go upstairs to find their plants, and then out onto the deck. There’s an elevator, if needed, but the spaces are small and the corners are tight.
I found the store’s staff was very helpful and cheerful. Since they recently moved to a new location, they’re still building a full stock, but the place will eventually be a well-​rounded store with a large pet section, a full range of household items, including everything from natural cleaning products to kitchen items, like can openers, servings spoons, and mason jars. You name it, and they just might carry it! Snacks and natural sodas? They have those too!
I’ll definitely visit again, even outside of planting season! It’s easy to support a small local business that’s well-​staffed with knowledgeable, friendly people in a clean, well-​stocked environment.

Love the staff at the Ace Hardware at Logan. I recently came up with a wild idea to build an indoor garden using a wooden wine case. Not only did the Ace staff help me order the lights, timers and pots I needed, but when the products arrived they drilled and cut and nailed everything together for me. Now I have a pretty awesome indoor garden for my tiny, sunless apartment in DC and all thanks to Ace!

They may be great for the neighborhood but they don’t cooperate with the store on 5^th St. I’ve been waiting for them to transfer a simple latch for 5 days and they promise the 5^th street store everyday it is being done and I’m still waiting for the call that it’s arrived. Why so bad btwn stores?

I have been intending to write a (5 star) review of Logan hardware for years and finally got around to it.
First of all, I hate hardware stores. I have bad flashbacks of my dad dragging me to Lowe’s and the place smelling like bug spray. Between the fumes and the boredom, I barely made it out alive. The only reprieve was looking at the paint chips or sitting in the lawn furniture. When I grew up, I found the occasional need to go to a hardware store and ended up at Home Depot. Horrors. There I was, wandering the aisles, completely void of employees (who I am certain actually HIDE so they don’t have to help anyone). Sure, let me just cut this 2×4 myself. That seems like a good idea.
I think the first time I went into Logan, I was looking for nails that could penetrate my brick walls in my Dupont condo. I went to Logan because it was close.
Logan Hardware might have the best customer service I have ever encountered. You walk in, and someone immediately asks you what you’re looking for. Even if you say «one of those thingys that you use to hold up a curtain — not a rod, but one of those… things,» the person will still direct you to the general part of the store where that item can be found. While you’re en route, employee #1 has spoken to the person in the area of the store or the floor where they sent you. Employee #2 will then intercept you and help you find the thingy, give you ideas of a better thingy to buy, tips on how to install the thingy, etc. If the thingy you think you want is more expensive than what you need, they’ll tell you that, too.
And, they manage to do all of this without ever being condescending. Everyone seems to genuinely like working there. Dare I say it is a pleasure to go to hardware store? It’s not a place I would go just for fun as I generally have no interest in building or fixing anything, but when I need to go, I wouldn’t consider anywhere else.
Also, they have Benjamin Moore paint, which is the best. Just like them.

I’m hardly handy, so I could probably count the number of times I’ve had to go to a hardware store potentially on one hand. But my needs were simple: a small stepladder and measuring tape. Surely, I would have little hassle tracking those things down.
I had literally no expectations prior to dropping by, so I was surprised to find two floors, both pretty deep, lined with everything you could need for home improvement. My eyes scattered just about everywhere when I walked in, glancing over about 70% of their inventory that was foreign to me.
Luckily, someone was available to help direct me to the right aisle immediately and even helped me pick out the cheapest step ladder for my needs. She even made sure I was aware that there were more colors to choose from elsewhere. Without her help, I probably would have just bought the first one I saw and be out, so I was really appreciative of her taking her time (and not my money!)
Oh and they have a cooler in the front with bottled root beer. So course I had to buy one.
So that’s that. I walked out with a cold brew, my stepladder and some measuring tape. You know what I did after that?
I did work, son!

Great neighborhood hardware store with excellent customer service and a wide selection. Staff went above and beyond to make sure I found what I needed. Despite the narrow storefront, the store is surprisingly big. Support your local hardware stores!

Logan Hardware has moved. Perhaps the old version of this page for the P Street location can be moved here? There were so many reviews (excellent ones!) of the P Street location, and this is essentially the same thing, just a little north of the old location.
This place is absolutely incredible. Amazing service! It can be a bit busy on weekends, but once you have someone helping you they will walk you through everything and answer any questions you have. The place is spotless and has a spacious upstairs and downstairs. They typically have enough people at the registers so the lines move quickly. This is my go-​to hardware store in DC!

The best neighborhood hardware store in the District, hands down! The new location is stunning!
I went in for the first time today and was blown away by the amount of inventory. Two full floors — it’s five times bigger than the old location. Plus, upstairs in the back they’ve built a large balcony off the building where in the spring/​summer I’m told they’ll have live plants and an expanded greenhouse type area.
Incredibly friendly staff and always so super helpful. Ask for John when you stop in! He’s as friendly and helpful as they come. Highly recommend.
