This place is great. The refrigerated section is a gold mine; they usually carry fresh noodles, bao, kimchi, etc. It’s a little more expensive than the big Asian grocery stores, sure, but it’s really well curated, and they sell a lot of pantry staples made in-house(e.g. shichimi togarashi). For such a tiny shop, the product range is pretty broad; they don’t have 20 different kinds of soy sauce, but I’ve found bottled yuzu, Chinkiang vinegar, and lots of other impulse-purchase goodies. I can’t help stopping in whenever I’m in Union Market and grabbing at least a bag of spicy shrimp snacks.

Credit for selling some legit noodles that I can use at home to make dan dan mian and. Much more convenient than driving to H-Mart in NoVa.

Sometimes I feel like my friends are suckers. They are constantly posting on Instagram about the green tea kit kat gifts they get from people who have traveled overseas yet I’m here drowning in green tea kit kat wealth thanks to the folks at Honeycomb Grocer. This small Asian grocery store is all in thanks part to the Toki Underground team. Here they offer an array of homemade sauces and produce as well as an array of locally made goodies. I purchased a bag of Vigilante espresso here once and Chef Erik personally went to the back of the store to find a fresher bag since he knew I was giving it as a special gift to someone. I’ve also purchase ramen kits(my weekend project — — call ahead to order) and have seen some cool, out-of-the-ordinary items like black garlic here. It’s very small and a bit more expensive than what you find in the burbs but I love making a stop here whenever I am at Union Market. Also a cool thing to note — — they hand paint and hand write their logo on every bag and jar. It’s all about the details!
