Eliza is the best when it comes to Brazilians!!! How she performs her waxing may be a little unorthodox lol, but she will get it all! Regarding one reviewer who complained that she doesn’t wear gloves (she uses hard wax, it’s is awesome), and blows at the applied baby powder… hon, your nether regions are not the best area for anyone to be dealing with. Personally, the woman has done this for decades, and it shows. I am sure at this point, you develop certain «quirks» when you have see more boxes than UPS… js ;). She has a beautiful sense of humor that gets you through the «tough areas. After your first visit, you will be hooked. She makes very comfortable in what is a very uncomfortable situation :))) Love !!

I can only speak for their bikini waxing services with Eliza, but as far as that goes, I can honestly say I got the best brazilian of my life so far here. I had just moved here and desperately needed a new waxing joint. Eliza is FANTASTIC. It’s not your typical bikini wax– she gets up close and personal and uses her bare hands with the hard wax, so there’s no room for modesty here. But I was in and out within 20 minutes, experienced basically no pain and there was not a spare hair or ingrown in sight. Have recommended to so many of my friends already!

Güven is a great stylist! Having tried different stylists in Northern Virginia and getting frustrated in the end, I finally found this salon DC. So glad I did! Guven’s hair cut takes 60 minutes, the right amount for a real professional haircut. He takes time to listen to what you really want and he’s very talented in what he’s doing. He’s very experienced, too. I haven’t tried the other employees, but everyone in the salon seemed pretty attentive to their clients and assuring. Don’t keep searching, just go to this salon!

Have been going here for years now and every time I come in I feel like I am visiting family. All the staff is very accommodating and always smiling. My hair always looks fabulous when I leave and I always get complements on it. They also do the facial threading for eyebrows and Rani is awesome! I go from sasquatch to runway model! Thanks Guven!!!

Alright so Hasan is going to laugh at me for writing a review because we had an in-​depth convo about how none of his long term clients right them so I’m doing this to change his opinion. I recently moved to DC from NYC and of course had to leave my incredible stylist (I even considered doing a trip there every couple months so I wouldn’t have to make the switch). Well, I realized that wasn’t possible so I started my search and was referred here by a friend. I have very thick hair and I’m very tough to please and I recently made the switch from brunette to blonde. Hasan did an incredible job on my color blending the roots just right with what I had already and giving me nice shape from what was dried out from my previous cut. I now have a nice flowy bob.
On top of all this I was in desperate need of a brazilian so while I was having my color processed with foils in Eliza was a champ and I now have a new obsession with both of them. She doesn’t use a sugar wax but it is incredibly similar (she told me she imports it from Canada) and she made the process as quick and painless as possible. She also gave me some tips on taking care of my skin.
Definitely recommend both of them!

Guven is the BEST! He looked, he listened, made his own assessment & recommendations and then the magic began. New in town, I had turned to Unilocal to find a hair salon in my neighborhood. Based on Unilocal reviews, I chose Guven to color and cut my hair. The rave reviews are well-​deserved! Beyond the great color & cut, the modern, all-​white salon is immaculately clean & the staff is pleasant
(I was offered water, coffee, tea).

If you’re looking for a new place to get your hair done — then go here! I live in Chicago but was in DC (Georgetown area) for the weekend prior to a work meeting. I didn’t have time to go to my stylist back home prior to getting on the road, so I had to frantically try to find someone to get me in the same day. After reviewing Unilocal and comparing websites, I narrowed it down and as luck would have it — after calling four salons, Guven was the only place to get me in. I needed touch ups on my highlights and a cut. I can tell you that my cut was great and my highlights even better! This is not a fancy-​schmancy salon but I felt like I definitely got my money’s worth! If I’m in the DC area again, I would not hesitate to go see Guven!

Rose gave me a very nice haircut with long layers. She took her good time accurately trimming the split ends, she wasnt rushing or anything, which I really liked. My hair felt very fresh and light and it grew fast after.

I have been going to Eliza for 12 years for a Brazilian bikini wax and she is by far the best in the DC area. I have recommended many friends to see her and everyone has shared my sentiments about her. Even though she uses her bare hands and authentic wax from Brazil warmed in a crockpot, she is very thorough and attentive to detail. Eliza is one of a kind and a hidden gem — if you are not interested in traditional waxing and would prefer rubber gloves and a wooden stick applicator, you should try a different salon that will charge you twice as much for half as good of a job.

Was very uncomfortable and unhappy with my Brazilian wax. The women stuck her bare hands into the hard wax and applied with bare hands, and tried to blow hairs off with her mouth, unsanitary.

I went for my second hair cut today with Guven and it was just as fabulous as my first. I have been bemoaning the loss of my hair dresser in NYC since my move to DC 5 years ago. I have had some very skilled cuts at various salons but haven’t found anyone who gave me a hair cut I just loved from start to finish. I made my first appointment about 3 months ago and asked for a recommendation for someone who did balayage. The receptionist suggested Guven. He did a fantastic job on the color and gave me a super flattering and sexy haircut. I just went in today for another haircut. The color still looks fabulous and my second hair cut is fantastic. Guven totally listened to what I liked and took his time giving me a fantastic cut. I have finally found a hairdresser I will keep going to.

Finding a good salon in DC with reasonable prices is difficult so I’m incredibly excited to have found Guven Salon. Been going here for about a year now since my move from Chicago and am loving it. The first few cuts I ended up getting at other salons in the area had me flying back to Chicago for a cut, until I found Guven and now I can save my flight $$ for actual vacations! I’ve mostly worked with Gunc and he works magic!.. colors and cuts. He takes the time to talk to you, will let you know if what you want is a bad idea or not, and work with you to achieve the look you’re going for.
Update: Got an amazing red/​purple balayage treatment by Genc and I’m absolutely in love with it! After waiting for months for the perfect color, it really was worth the wait. Im so glad Genc feels invested in only using quality products and does an amazing job with them.

Guven is a great spot! Rose is the absolute best! Not only does she give the best haircuts and styling, she’s a gem to talk to. Couldn’t recommend her more!

I visited the salon for the first time back in October of 2013. I had read good things about Yusuf, and the salon is a quick walk from my apartment in Glover Park. I was in desperate need of new partial highlights – my highlights from the summer were too blonde, and not great to begin with, and I wasn’t sure he’d be able to get my hair closer to its natural color without going too dark or just coloring it completely – and I’ve never fully colored my hair! I also didn’t want highlights so drastic or different than my natural color that there would be an obvious line when my hair grew out. Yusuf was amazing. He listened closely to what I wanted, and he put in a mix of colors that somehow covered the brighter old highlights, yet complimented my natural hair shade. Not only was his coloring PERFECT, he cut my hair beautifully, and even took the time to give me tips on how to blow dry it and style it different ways depending on how I wanted to wear it. I’m 26, so don’t want something that would age me, but also tend to stick to classic cuts that are easy to care for (and my hair is wavy, with cowlicks on my hair line, so not always easy to work with), and this cut was amazing. I’m in grad school so don’t have the time or the budget to get my haircut every 6 weeks, but my highlights are only just NOW looking like they need an update, which is impressive.
The prices aren’t cheap, but they also aren’t exorbitant at all, in fact, I’d say they are pretty middle of the road for DC prices, and WELL worth it given the time and attention that you get at Guven Salon. If you do plan on getting your hair highlighted, even partially, and have hair on the longer side, give yourself a pretty wide window of time, since it’s not a quick process, depending on how intense and drastic the coloring is.
I’ve booked an appointment for this week, and while I normally don’t look at getting my haircut as a chore (albeit a nice one), I can honestly say I can’t wait to have my hair done by Yusuf again!

I’ve been going to see Rani for a couple of years now. She does an absolutely amazing job with eyebrow threading, and even though I now live 30 + minutes away, I still make the trek to see her every 3 weeks.
I have thicker eyebrows and I had many a traumatic experience (before finding Rani) in which eyebrow waxers would take WAY too much off, leaving me looking pretty ridiculous. Rani takes the time to listen to you and to think about what shape would work best for your face. She’s also great about preserving a natural look.
If you have hard to manage eyebrows, and are looking for someone you can trust, I highly recommend you go to Rani!

I finally found a great salon DC. I got a great color job and then the finishing style was perfect. The stylist was very attentive and kind. I will be back with I need another hair cut!

Wow! This place is amazing. I have been going here for almost a year now and have never left disappointed. I have only worked with Yash but I don’t think I would ever change. If you want a great cut and color and blow dry he is your guy! I have seen him three times now and each time I leave I am even more pleased with the result! He is a perfectionist and pays attention to detail I trust him with anything he wants to do with my hair. Just recently I did an ombré with special highlight and it came out great! I have gotten many compliments since! I recommend going when you have a plan for that night because you walk out of there feeling special.
The best cut and color I have ever gotten. I won’t be looking anywhere else. Guven is a clean and modern looking spa and the employees are very nice. Also I have never once had to wait for an appointment. You have an appointment at 4pm and ⁹⁄₁₀ it will start right on time. Very well organized. I couldn’t say enough about this hair salon!

Some background:
I’ve been a loyal customer for over five years; first at Elite for Hair and now at Guven Salon. Heck, I was the «first to review» Given Salon. I’ve seen Rose for threading and have been highly pleased, taking a Car2Go or the bus to get there. I’ve tried other salons/​threading locations much closer to where I live or work (the opposite side of town) that are often cheaper, and have not been as pleased. So I’ve continued to stick with Rose.
I’ve suggested to many friends, some of whom have traveled from MD, to see her not just for threading but also for hair cuts. I appreciated the service provided by Rose and was a large tipper.
The past three appointments have made me feel like the past five years of business and referrals meant nothing.
(1) I had an appointment; upon arriving Rose asked if I would see Rani because she took a walk-​in for a hair cut. Had to wait to see Rani but I was fine with it and didn’t think anything of it.
(2) I try to make an appointment with Rose and the front desk staff informed me that they want me to see Rani and not Rose. I explain to them that I’ve seen Rose for over five years and the response I get was that Rose was too busy for threading. Ok, one time thing as Rose typically has wide availability. I see Rani.
(3) This past time I made an appointment for Rose. Rose tells me that she gave her clients over to Rani and that she told me to see Rani before. This was not the case. She told me that she didn’t want to lose me as a customer and that I should come for haircuts. Rose has been trying to convert me into getting hair cuts from her for the past five years; I wasn’t interested as I already had a stylist I was pleased with.
I’m mystified. If you don’t want to lose me as a customer, then don’t lose me as a customer.
