History

Established in 2014.

After spending close to a decade in the Washington, DC and interstate moving business, Steve and Ben started Grasshopper Movers. Realizing that we had a unique skill-​set that would allow us to help our clients through one of the more difficult transitions in life, we set out to offer something which can be unfortunately rare in this industry; customer service. Our top priority is making our customers happy and it shows.

I spent years of sweaty summers and frigid winters as a mover and I loved every minute of it! I’m passionate about moving; I dream about moving almost every night and I think about moving most of my waking hours. It’s incredibly rewarding and I value making my customers happy more than anything else.

Grasshopper was recommended to me by a friend, and I’m very glad I took her suggestion to call them. I had to move furniture, large photographs, dishes, etc. from the Upper West Side of NYC to DC in addition to moving about six months worth of belongings from another apartment within DC. I knew Steve would be trustworthy and friendly from our first phone conversation, and he did not disappoint. Steve and Ben showed up on time and with smiles on their faces, and took great care of all of my belongings. They were trustworthy and had a great attitude, even after a very long day. They made the process stress– and glitch-​free and I would highly recommend them for anyone’s next move in DC or beyond.

Grasshopper Movers were prompt, friendly, and efficient. The process of moving is among my least favorite things in the world, but these guys reduced the pain considerably! I will call them again whenever I have anything to be moved – would give them 6 stars if I could!

Fantastic movers and even better people to work with! Steve made our storage and moving so fantastic rather than stressful. After working with him I can’t imagine using any other storage facility. They are easy to contact, take good care of our furniture, and the prices are great!

Grasshopper Movers were great for my 1-​bedroom size move. They made the entire process stress free and, dare I say it, fun! The prices were competitive and transparent, the staff was friendly, and they did a great job moving and protecting my stuff — actually wrapping entire pieces of furniture in cloth with tape rather than just draping it on corners. They charge a flat transportation fee and an hourly rate, which is similar to other companies but here they don’t charge extra for stairs (really?!) or have any hidden fees. I will be sure to use this moving company for any other Washington, D.C. moves. In total, my one bedroom move took just under four hours.

I can’t stop bragging about how easy it was to move! Grasshopper is amazing.
If you live in DC you already know what a showstopper snow can be. Our move day fell on the first snow day of the winter. Smack in the middle of rush hour. If I were a mover tasked with carrying heavy stuff I would have been extra cranky and extra slow. The Grasshopper crew didn’t skip a beat. They were friendly, efficient, and a true pleasure! Their positive attitudes took any hint of stress out of the moving process. They even did the job in two hours less than the original estimate.
A dream come true. Hire these guys. I promise that after your move you’ll want to invite them over for dinner.

Grasshopper Movers were extremely friendly and professional. The crew managed to be both efficient AND cautious with my stuff. I will no doubt be calling on them again for the next move, in addition to recommending them to family and friends.
To set up an appointment, I contacted Grasshopper, and Steve called me back to discuss my location and the major items of furniture and art I wanted to transport. There is a one-​hour surcharge for travel, and the rest of the move fee is based per hour.
Their respect for our valuables and time was really appreciated, and not something that can be easily found with most other movers. Thanks so much for making what could have been a stressful day so much easier, Steve!

Steve and the rest of his crew were great – quick, efficient, professional, competitively priced. They’re also really nice, and attuned to the stresses of moving, which is a big plus since moving can really be a drag. This is a group of people who understand that and will make the experience easier and downright pleasant. I highly recommend this moving company.
