We at GTT specialize in the sale of tobacco and all the accessories which go with it. The store and staff are certified Tobacconists by Tobacconist University. While cigars, pipes, and tobacco are our one true love we also dabble in Venetian Masks, Crystal, Chess, and other gift items that catch our eye.

While we are located in Georgetown we carry a full range of products at all price points; we believe the fine art of smoking should not be limited to any class but enjoyed by those who like the finer things in life.

History

Established in 1964.

In 1964, David Berkebile established Georgetown Tobacco in Washington D.C.‘s historic hub of commerce. Over forty years later, it is still a place to enjoy the comaraderie of those who enjoy the gentle art of smoking and other of life’s pleasures.

Business Owner

David founded GTT in 1964 fresh out of the Navy and with a small loan from his Uncle. The first store on Wisconsin Ave. was small and sparse. But with the help of customers and friends he learned the fine details of the industry and soon out grew the space. Then in ¹⁹⁶⁷⁄₆₈ he moved the store to its current location on M Street.

From that humble beginning he has created a world renowned name in the tobacco retail industry. He even served as President of the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR). Over the years he has served everyone from Kings and Presidents to the Homeless not caring about race, class, or anything else as long as every customer was treated equally.
