Small little shop that you’d miss if you weren’t looking for it.
Solid selection inside, but I’m writing this review purely based on the customer service experience. Jason at the desk went above and beyond in assisting my locate a specific watch for my step-​dad. He checked his inventory, checked a sister stores stock, but when both turned out negative, he then called a competitive store 10 minutes away and verified if they had it in stock. They did. He gave me their info and wished me luck.
The man got nothing out of the deal but still went above and beyond to assist me. That’s the kind of customer service that shows a passion for helping people, and I believe they’d do the same when it comes to helping folks select the right piece of training gear at their shop.

I was very disappointed in my visit to this store. I went on a Saturday morning at 11 a.m. And there was one salesperson who couldn’t be less helpful. Many bells and whistles – gait mat, treadmill with video and computer etc.– but without attention to customers, all worthless. If I want a shoe salesman to just keep throwing shoes at me, I could go to DSW! Won’t be going back.

She had lots of ankle and knee issues last track season. In no time Russell had identified the problem with the treadmill and camera. We purchased a pair of shoes at a very affordable price.

Pleasant dog-​friendly store. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have tiny feet and the store didn’t stock my shoe size (I wear a 5) but Russell called around to their Chevy Chase location to ask them if they had any size 5 Mizuno running shoes there. I thought it was a really thoughtful gesture. Their customer service is clearly awesome!

I walked into this store on one of the coldest days of the season, and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. The store is clean and well organized. The employees, David and Russel, are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and were able to assist me with inserts I was looking for in no time. These guys know what they are doing, and I am sure would be able to help with any of your running and walking needs. Good job, will be back!

My favorite running store in DC. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They didn’t have the shoes I wanted in my size at their DC store so they called their Chevy Chase store (which had it in stock) and had delivered it to my apartment.

Unbelievable customer service (literally the best I’ve seen at any retail store)! Can’t say enough good things about this place. The prices are as good as you’d find on Amazon and anywhere else, and returns are super easy. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful and seem to genuinely want to help you enjoy your running experience. I was looking for a particular shoe that is no longer made and they ordered it for me from a store in NY and had it for me within a few days. I won’t buy shoes anywhere else.

Not a great shop for beginner runners.
I’m very new to running. I came into GRC two weeks ago for a gait analysis and recommendation for a proper pair of running shoes. After trying on several pairs of shoes, I left with a new pair and was happy with my purchase and the customer service. Unfortunately, after a few runs in my new kicks I started experiencing terrible ankle pain, and since nothing else (route, distance, speed) had changed, I thought it might be the shoes. So I returned today for some advice. They were happy to return my previous pair, and fitted me with a pair that offers more stability and feels much better on my feet.
So why the 2-​star rating? The manager, Wilson, laughed when I told him and his associate how far and how frequently I was running. I guess the idea of a beginner runner is hilarious and mock-​worthy to him. (Not only is this rude, it’s bad business sense: by encouraging a new runner, he could easily have procured a lifetime of business.) I felt horribly embarrassed and won’t give this place another cent of my money.

This store is typically forgotten about. Its small, and the sales staff are a mix of elite, almost elite, to regular people. Every time I enter this store I feel comfortable with knowledge base by the sales team and overall environment.

Went here for the first time with my BF to check out some running shoes after reading a few reviews. We both recently started running and working out and have been using our good old pair of kicks. I noticed that my feet have been hurting during my runs and wanted to look into a new pair of shoes. Not just what’s on sale, not just the hot new item or the prettiest pair — I wanted a pair of shoes that works best with my feet and how I run. Essentially, shoes somewhat tailored to suit my needs.
Went in around 6pm and greeted by an associate. I told him what my issues were and he had me run on the treadmill and examined my feet and existing shoes. He then brought out a couple pairs and gave me his thoughts. I bought them and ran home in my new pair, immediately noticing a huge difference.
What he did with my BF however was amazing. After examining him on the treadmill, the associate immediately recognized that he had previously undergone knee surgery, causing a discrepancy in his legs. My BF has complained of shin splints for years but after he bought his recommended pair he went home and ran 3 miles without issue. Awesome experience here! Thanks guys!

I LOVE Georgetown Running Company! Andrew Palmer helped me buy a new pair of Nike’s and when I say he was cute, he was CUTE. His smile actually was like WOW. Thinking back on it, I get butterfly’s in my stomach! Definitely going to go back again, and hopefully next time get more than just a pair of shoe’s from sales associate Andrew ;)

Customer service and knowledge made the buying experience outstanding. Usually I just throw some shoes on and run but I never considered the science and style of the shoe on the runner’s feet. I would highly recommend their store. Being able to run on a treadmill and hearing the knowledgeable staffs recommendation really did sell me on a pair of shoes I would have never even of tried on without their help. I won’t be running any marathons (yet) but for someone who is actively training everyday I believe they put me in the perfect shoe.

Won’t buy sneakers anywhere else! Staff is always helpful! Ask them for a gait analysis so they can match shoes that will fit you best!

Full disclosure: I’m hardly an athlete. So my review is based on the fact that aside from going to Just For Feet as a child to get tennis shoes, I don’t spend a lot of time in sports equipment stores, much less running stores.
But, thanks to Couch25k (seriously, check that shiz out if you want to improve your distance/​stamina but don’t consider yourself a runner/​hate running completely) I was in need of some running shoes that weren’t four years old.
Coincidentally, I bought my last pair from here as well, but in the years since I was last there they’ve had some cool technological updates.
While the store is small, there are plenty of people to give you great one on one service. I’m horrible and don’t remember the name of the awesome guy who helped me, but he was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Coolest part: they film you running on a treadmill in different shoes and can replay the tape side by side with the tape of another pair of shoes you are trying on. Not only did I learn that I run like a flailing weirdo, but it made it really easy to see which shoes corrected and supported my strange gait.
I was shown three pairs of shoes, one in the $ 75 range, and two in the $ 140 range. I did not get the impression at all that the employee who helped me was trying to push me towards the pricier shoes. He was all about what was the most comfortable and supportive.
I also appreciated that he took as much time with someone basically new to running and gave me the same level of service as I saw other employees giving marathon runners.
I will absolutely be back when it’s time for me to get some new shoes!

The employees were helpful and friendly and they had a good stock of shoes. However, my wife was looking to buy some clothes but the dressing room was a back closet with those saloon style swinging doors that wouldn’t lock or stay shut so she couldn’t try anything on.
I would NOT use the
website. My credit card information was stolen after making a purchase from that site.

Georgetown Running Co definitely has the customer in mind, and then some. I’m not an experienced runner, so I really needed help with my purchase (I do light running and lots of weight training). I wanted a sneaker that could double up in both categories. They showed me to the treadmill in-​store and had me run for about 30 seconds while they recorded my feet in a pair of running shoes. This was really cool since I didn’t know anything about how I run. I figured since I am flat-​footed that I’d have all types of issues, but they told me I was a neutral runner, making it easier to find a few choices that fit. They brought out multiple brands and price-​points, colors/​designs, and talked through each style and how they varied. My salesperson was a runner herself, which was really helpful to hear her perspective. I ended up in a great pair of pink Nikes — my first new pair of athletic sneakers in years. I can’t wait to get out and get going in style! I appreciate the consultative sell, and not being rushed at all to get to the close!
Selection is decent, lots of brands to choose from — Nike, Asics, Mizuno, Saucony were just a few of the brands I tried. You could go to a big-​box store and get less attentive service but more selection. I would go back to Georgetown Running Co time and time again for the wonderful service. I also ended up with a pair of North Face running shorts which I’m excited about. All in all a great experience, and a good reminder as to why you should support local business. You will pay full-​price here, but the service is worth it.

I have frequented Georgetown Running quite a bit. I usually go after my training runs with DCRR. Always a great experience. What happened last night went above and beyond any service experience I have ever had:
I bought a pair of shoes from GRC back in January with Wilson. He walked me through around 8 – 10 pairs of shoes until we finally settled on a pair that would work for me. Shortly after, I was injured (through no fault of the shoe… it was because of overrunning). I took around 3 months off and just started again in May, so there was minimal mileage on my shoes (probably less than 50). As I was going to see my personal trainer last night at WSC, I stopped by the GRC booth that was setup for the open house. I got to talking with Dean, the manager, about shoes and showed him the ones I have been using. He checked them out and informed me that my shoes were up for a replacement in the next 75 miles or so. This seemed nuts to me since I did not come anywhere close to the 300 miles a new pair of shoes should be able to sustain. I was somewhat upset, but in no way blamed the store or any person, since these things I guess happen. He felt that Brooks had a defect in the shoe and wanted to help me right away. He sent someone (Max who is also awesome!) from the GRC store to come bring me a new pair of shoes while I had my personal training session. Once I got done, he took my old pair, gave me my new pair and charged me nothing. He was nothing but kind, helpful, understanding and wanted to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Well, I am. It almost brought tears to me eyes since it was the nicest customer service experience I have ever had.

This running store seems alright. I got two pairs of shoes here the other day. The staff, who were present while I was there, seemed to be fairly knowledgeable. Although I didn’t get the feeling that I was getting as good advice as I have at some other running stores that a frequent in my own area. The drawback to this place has a lot to do with space, its a very, very small store on a street with an army of shoppers. So getting help can take awhile or just moving around the store.

I bought a pair of running shoes here years ago, after going through their whole gait-​measurement program. You had to be kind of pushy to get somebody knowledgeable to help you, but once you did, they were quite willing to advise you. They firmly pushed me towards a pair of Brooks Beast running shoes a full size larger than I usually wear. Trusting their expertise, I went with it, but I was dubious. And as time wore on, I was even more dubious. The shoes felt clunky and heavy– a result, I was convinced, of being mis-​sized.
Well years later, I would like to confess error. The shoes are great. They’ve made me realize that my other running shoes were in fact too small, and somehow, even as they’ve started to wear out, they’ve remained quite comfortable. A newer pair of shoes I bought elsewhere are already unusable, but my Beasts are great. I just bought another paid.

I really needed a new pair of running shoes for my first 5K race that’s coming up. I wasn’t even sure where to start as far as what shoe would be right for me so my boyfriend suggested we take a trip over to Georgetown Running Company and do their free gait analysis. I called them up to confirm that they do this and then we headed over.
The sales associate that was helping us in the store was very thorough and knowledgeable about running since he, himself is a long-​distance runner and has run in some prestigious races including the NYC Marathon. He took his time with me and we did the gait analysis on the treadmill with three different running shoes. I decided to go with the Asics running shoe as it gave me the best support and of course, I love the color. It was also kind of funny looking at the video footage of myself running. It sort of gave me insight as to how my running form really looks.
The store itself has a wide selection of shoes and other things for your running needs. Basically, if they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist or they can just get it for you. The prices are on par with other athletic stores, but I do like that they specialize in running gear and it’s also a plus that the people that work here are actually runners. Overall, a good shopping experience. I left with a brand new pair of running shoes (thanks Jim!) and a smile. I’ll be venturing back here for my next pair!
