Wonderful place :-) Especially Hania who is absolutely delightful. I have fallen asleep before as she worked on me :-)

This place was a wretched mess. Going to top level stylist and make up artist in other cities it was always «who messed up your…» Erwin Gomez did. I am not saying this to bash people or out of spite, I am saying this simply as a warming that if you are used to skilled professionals of a world class nature stay far away from this place and the remnants spread throughout the city… and before you ask yes this includes Erwin himself. Do yourselves a favor, lose his number and get new referrals from your friends and associates.

I had the BEST haircut of my life here. I was living in DC for the summer two years ago, and went here to get my hair done. Jean Jekal was my stylist. I got it cut and colored. It wasn’t that the cut was so much different, but the way she layered and my bangs were fabulous! I look at pictures from that time and I want my bangs to look like that again, but no other stylist can seem to do it.
WHY did they close? WHY? Where is Jean? I was just dreaming about the next time I’m in DC, that the first place I go is here to get my hair done!

I have been calling this salon all morning and all I get is an answering machine saying that «someone will be with you in less than one minute…» but no one picked up! This salon must be closed now.

Soooo sad that Erwin has left with most of the staff. THIS USED to be my beauty haven. but unfortunately, circumstances beyond anyones control has forced this family to break up. I know that most of the stylists are in the area still but now I gotta jump around from salon to salon to get what I got under one roof without service like a rockstar!

Erwin is by far, the most amazing eyebrow guru in DC! I’ve been going to him for years and he totally reshaped my eyebrows to compliment my face in a way I’d never thought possible. Just really bummed to call for an appointment today and have the receptionist tell me that he no longer works there (WHAT??). Now, I’m lost without hope. Oh, Erwin — where are you???

I had been looking for someone to cut my Natural Curly African American Hair for a long time and I had taken to word of mouth advertising. I met a woman with wonderfully luscious hair and asked who did her cut. She referred me to Jeremiah at Erwin Gomez Salon. It was simple to make an appointment online and I waited for few minutes before sitting in his chair.
Jeremiah was the first stylist to cut my VERY CURLY hair wet, as I requested. In the past, I have been told that I have to have a blow out first; but since I wear my hair curly 99% of the time, I wanted it cut that way so that I could get a sense of the texture and shape during the cut.
I told Jeremiah about the woman I met and how I wanted my hair similar to hers. He knew exactly what to do. It was a major chop for me, and I was afraid of the change; but I am glad I made the change.
I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. It is easier to manage in the morning and it looks and feels healthy. It is natural, wild, and wonderful. Jeremiah is a pro with african american natural hair. If you need a great cut, see him! The prices here are high, but it was worth it for me, since I have a carefree approach and generally do not spend lots of money on my hair. This style is easy to maintain so the convenience outweighs the cost.

OK — I scheduled another appointment with ErGo to get my haircut that we didn’t have time for with the first appt. I saw Shereen and she did a fantastic job, giving me a great polish. I told her I was really just looking for a trim before the holidays and she disposed of my split ends but helped me keep the length of my hair going strong. I was in and out in a half hour this time, thank goodness. My only thing with ErGo is the price. The color isn’t ridiculously priced but I think the cuts are at $ 90.00. So that’s why 3 and not 5 stars. If I were going to give stars on the stylists only I would give five to both of the ones I’ve seen who were Jeremiah for color and Shereen for cut.

Love Erwin Gomez Salon! I have heard great things about the salon for awhile. I went first to see Kari the day before my wedding for lashes! It was the best bang for my wedding buck! Would recommend to ALL brides. the lashes made me look amazing! Kari is great, she knows right away what you want! I went today for lashes to wear on a weekend trip to Vegas just for a little extra glam. Kari made me look (again) like a living doll. PERFECT! Kari is officially on my beauty team and I’ll be getting lashes for every special occasion I can dream up! :)

Please remember this name and this hair color together! I just moved here from Los Angeles, and had a horrible experience on U street at a salon that made my blonde hair a light brown. Yuck! I was starting to think no one in DC knew how to do «blonde LA». I went to Erwin Gomez Salon for a re-​highlight, and Jacob was amazing!!! He not only fixed the mess, but made the color look better than ever.
A great man, and hair stylist. Jacob is your glam man!

I have been going to Erwin Gomez Salon now for over two years and have always been very pleased with my visits (friendly staff and great atmosphere), but I was so bummed when I recently discovered that my favorite stylist of all time, Gregory Whittington, no longer works at this salon! Greg has always done such an amazing job with both my cut and color, and I am positive that he must have a following of devoted clients, like myself, that are in search of his new location. If you are anything like me, once you find an amazing stylist, it is hard to make a switch to someone new. Well, after a bit of sleuthing, I managed to find him and thought I would pass it along in case anyone out there is in the same predicament. He has moved over to Salon L’eau, which is right across the street from Erwin Gomez on P Street, set back slightly off of Wisconsin Avenue in a quaint little location. Here are his new details!

When your goal is to get some R&R and you have a few hours to kill. Try Adrian for a beautifully relaxing facial and try Jean for a great new sculpting of your frock, not to mention creative coloring. They’re great here and it doesn’t hurt that Erwin himself is always present making his customers feel like every visit there is an auspicious experience.
Two thumbs up, but I must say, you pay for the experience– it isn’t cheap, but you wont leave dissatisfied.

How lucky am I to finally find the master of eyebrows? I absolutely love the way Erwin grooms my eyebrows. He is the ONLY person, who has been able to succesfully shape my eyebrows EXACTLY the way they are supposed to be shaped.
He’s extremely courteous, professional, and very sweet. I’m so excited that I found him :)

Kari is awesome for brows!
Yes its a little pricey, a lot pricey but when you are freaked out about trusting anyone like me, that is priceless.

I had the same experience as another Unilocaler. I went to the salon for SpaWeek and arranged to receive a massage. I went on a weekday evening. The waiting area is very cramped and some of the staffers were gossiping in front of me which is always kind of awkward.
The massage was pretty good. However, I could hear almost everything that was going on in the salon. I even heard a loud conversation in Spanish.
I guess it depends what you are looking for out of a salon or spa. My goal is relaxation. I know in the future if I want more of a loud or fun vibe I may return there for hairstyling or something different. I don’t think I would recommend a massage or anything else meant to be relaxing there unless you are really good at tunning out noise.

Adrian is awesome… I recently started getting my back waxed and the first girl that I had do it at another place TORE my back up; Adrian was much more proficient and thorough, both in preparation and technique.
Erwin is Erwin… best in the business. Definitely go… warning, it’s not cheap.

I go to Erwin Gomez Salon & Spa typically for facials. Adrian is a super star and he can really make my skin glow. Adrian is so great that he can always tell if I’ve been out drinking the night before or in the sun and alters the facial accordingly to repair the issues immediately (can we say hydration treatment after hangovers). The products he recommends after the facials are items I always end up using them and they make a huge difference.
Fidel up at the front desk, who is usually there on Saturdays, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and has really great taste with a customer service attitude above and beyond. Side bar: He also knows EVERYTHING about where to go out in the city for party and hot new restaurants so it’s always cool getting new scoops from him upon check in.
I go to Mia for the pedicure and the pedicures here ROCK! They don’t use those cheesy spa chairs with bubbles that are hard to clean and pass infections. They use a small bowl with amazing products — Mia uses a lemon and a hodgepodge of other things and my feet come out so soft! She is amazing. They also give you a Mac to surf the web and check email, play games, etc, during your pedi.
I went to Marcus for the first time for hair and he was awesome. I received about 10 compliments the next day. The color was great and I’ve never had a cut this precise. The only thing I didn’t like was the price. But for a senior stylist like Marcus who makes magic happen, I can see how someone would be addicted to spending what he charges for a cut. He is a perfectionist and I’ve never had a haircut done this well. I don’t know that I can make a habit out of going to him because of the price, but it’s nice to spoil yourself once in a while.
The salon over all has a really fun vibe to it. There are always a lot of people around, a patio out back with a bar that sometimes has a bartender serving during parties/​events and lawn chairs to chill at. Everyone is friendly and knows their stuff. I recommend this salon.
The only negative is that you can’t add the tip to your credit card. You have to pay cash.

I went to Erwin Gomez for a massage during spa week, so I only ended up paying $ 50 (instead of the $ 120+ one would normally pay). The massage itself was phenomenal. One of the best I’ve ever had. So why only 3 stars? First, the rooms were loud. I didn’t expect a full day spa or anything, but I could hear all the noise and music from the salon and sirens on Wisconsin Ave. Second, the masseuse, while obviously skilled, was a bit cocky and talked too much. Also, the staff, while nice, was a bit snobby.
I would recommend this place for a massage if you want to get every kink worked out, but not if you want to relax. I’d recommend a day spa like Serenity for something like that.

I went to this spa/​salon for the first time last Saturday, my appointment was with Adrian — who was fabulous and superb. The entire atmosphere was pleasant, delightful and very professional. Erwin was having a meeting and therefore I was unable to meet him personally.
I must say there’s nothing cheap about their service, but it’s so worth it.

Erwin was very sweet and did a fantastic job on my eyebrows! He ushered me in to an earlier appointment when I stopped by while shopping just so that I would not have to return at a later time. The service at the salon is exceptional and I never felt uncomfortable at all. They are all absolutely sweet!
His assistant (carey?) did a fantastic job applying single lashes for a wedding I was going to and they looked natural and fantastic! No one had any idea at all.
Since I had a fantastic experience there so far I went back to get my hair done but it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for the expensive price tag. That would be my only negative if any. However, I am going back to the same girl since she was more than happy to try the color again. The cut itself was fantastic; the color wasn’t worth the 350 dollar price :) I’ll be sure to follow up.

Carey, at Erwin Gomez, is a hair color goddess. She took my messed up hair color (which was ruined by a guy named Joe Awad in Alexandria) and brought me back to my natural color. She was the only colorist who ever noticed that my hair is very fine and would absorb color differently because of that. The aforementioned hair dresser just put dark brown color on my hair assuming he’d give me dark brown hair. He gave me black hair that made me look like the voodoo doll in that Karen Black horror trilogy from the 80’s.
Carey hit it right on and the color was natural and seamless.
UPDATE: I no longer go here. The color was great but it faded LITERALLY after a few days. I was told they were adjusting my color ratio so that wouldn’t happen but it always did. $ 400 later (4 times over 6 months) I just couldn’t afford to pay so much for a day of good color. I have never had this problem with the Davines color line so I’m looking for someone who carries that brand. Until then I am the girl with the hair that looks good from a distance.
