Hitched

This was a wonderful experience. The gowns are pricey $ 2800 and up, but the customer service makes it well worth the price. I found several gowns that I like and am looking forward to coming back with my mother. The lady who helped me (Molly) was wonderful, helpful, patient, and took the time to really listen to what I was looking for. In all honestly, I came in not really knowing what kind of dress I wanted but through her patient guidance, I now know the style and material that I want for my gown.
I highly recommend this store for any girls (especially busty girls!)

For starters — this boutique is pricey; if you’re bargain-​hunting (like I am), you’re better off looking elsewhere. However, we wanted to try on dresses in at least one upscale store just for fun.
As a curvier bride-​to-​be, I nearly cringed at the elegant displays and the preppy-​looking girls who worked there. Surely, this was one of those «size 0» designer stores you see in the movie Mean Girls or Pretty Woman. But we met our assistant, Jacklyn, and this girl was sunshine incarnate. In fact, having my first dress appointment at Hitched was the best decision I could have ever made. Jacklyn’s sweetness, exuberance and tireless support honestly transformed a nerve-​racking experience into such a special one.
Contrary to what I had feared, their gowns came in a larger size (14 – 16); and it made a world of difference being able to try on so many beautiful dresses that fit. Always offering up a sincere compliment, Jacklyn helped me try on at least fifteen different gowns, and I felt gorgeous in every one. (Let’s be honest, the $ 3,000-$ 9,000 designs probably helped .)
I’ve been to six or seven stores since and really haven’t had anything that came close to the elegance and kindness of my appointment with you at Hitched. Even though my budget will have me buying elsewhere, I was grateful I went here first.

The people here are nice, but there is a VERY limited selection of dresses and I thought the visit was a complete waste of time. I must not be the demographic they’re trying to cater to because I thought all of the dresses were pretty awful and boring. There was not much that you could call «modern.» Tip: The store only carries 8 brands, so I recommend finding out whether you like them before making an appointment. And then save your time and go to Kleinfeld instead.

I was the trifecta Hitched girl — wedding dress, bridesmaid dress and invitations. They were fantastic throughout the whole process!
First off with dresses, I went to several shops in the area before going to Hitched. Their dress selection was by far the most unique, intricate and special. I had my dress hemmed by them as well, they made it perfection — I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
The service ordering invitations and bridesmaid dresses was great too. Everything arrived on time, and everyone I worked with was polite and knowledgeable. I received a TON of compliments on my invitations.
I would recommend them in a heartbeat to any bride in the area!

Really great customer service. The staff are very patient and flexible.
Even though it was obvious I wasn’t in love with everything they didn’t hesitate to let me try on anything I wanted even if I was just curious to see what it looked like on me.
Not pushy at all to get me to buy on the spot. The one hour appointment was managed really well and I didn’t feel squeezed for time

I had a wonderful experience at Hitched. I had gone wedding dress shopping at a few places in New York before shifting my search closer to home. I felt that the dresses at Hitched were in good shape (some of the ones I’d tried in NYC you could tell had been tried on MANY times and were a bit dingy). I found and tried on a number of dresses that I really liked but finally narrowed it down to two dresses. Of course, just to make things as complicated as possible, I wanted the sleeves removed from the one I liked the most.
Amber took my request completely seriously and looked into whether removing the sleeves would be possible. She was super patient with all my questions and with scheduling my mom to come down to see the dress before we purchased it. The alternations process was seamless– they really made me feel as comfortable as one could be when completely altering the structure of her wedding dress. Jasmine, Hitched’s seamstress, did an amazing job making the changes to it. Amber was incredibly attentive throughout the whole process. Another great thing was that with the flat fee for alterations, it didn’t cost me any more to make such drastic changes.
When the dress got a little wrinkled en route to the wedding (a 6+ hour drive), I shot Amber an email the day before and she immediately got back to me with instructions for fixing it. Overall, the whole process had the potential to be a high stress situation and it simply wasn’t something I had to worry about at all. I highly recommend Hitched to anyone looking for a dress in Georgetown!

Let’s get something straight first before I go into my glowing review of this amazing shop… When you decide to purchase a wedding gown, note that you won’t be spending just your one day finding the gown with them. Unless you decide to find your own seamstress, you will be spending at least 4 – 5 visits with said shop, so you know you want to pick a good one!
I purchased my wedding gown and our invitations from here and couldn’t be happier. My original visit was spent trying on gowns from the Amsale trunk show, and I actually picked the first gown I tried… These ladies know their stuff. While I remain 100% happy with the dress I picked, I almost hated looking at the dresses each time I arrived for a fitting, as they are ALL so beautiful!!! They truly have an excellent, comprehensive selection.
Then, one of the owners (Julie, I beleive) was involved for most of the remainder of my visits – she made sure my measurements were perfect and that my first visit with their seamstress went smoothly so that all of my concerns re: the fit of the dress were met. This proved for a very quick & easy final two fittings. Our invitations were gorgeous, as well; we received quite the compliments, and I still bring an extra copy out every now and then just to admire it!
I will absolutely recommend this shop to all of my friends. Every gal we encountered in the shop was so personable and welcoming. They also provide you with detailed instructions during each phase of the fittings re: the handling and care of your gown, which I found extremely helpful. My only regret is that I didn’t also go with Hitched for my bridesmaids’ dresses!!!

Wow, where do I even start? I guess all the way from the beginning… My engagement was 22 months long and I spent almost 12 of those months on the dress search. After I got engaged in May 2013, I didn’t even know what to tackle first with the wedding planning process. I was never one of those girls who created a Pinterest board titled «When that day comes» or «My future wedding.» All I knew was that I didn’t want to get my dress at David’s Bridal which I had to put up with as a bridesmaid before and I was willing to pay a little more for quality service and a dress that was preferably not made in China to be sold at an American chain.
All of my bridesmaids live out of town. When one of them came to visit a couple months after the engagement, she insisted we start the dress-​shopping process. And thank God for that because, as I had already mentioned, the entire process took almost a year!
I originally thought I wanted a ball gown and Hitched was our second stop (our first stop was Rizik’s). I liked that Chelsea, the sales person at Hitched, pulled some different styles and fabrics for me to try on while Rizik’s did not take that extra step. I quickly learned that I didn’t want a ball gown after all because they made me look like a cupcake, and I got really hot after merely standing in a ballgown with layers of tulle. I also had my heart set on chiffon and tulle with some bead work, but after Chelsea suggested I try on other fabrics, I fell in love with an A-​line dress made with silk organza (and zero beading). Due to the price tag of the dresses, I left empty-​handed to continue my search. (All of the dresses I tried on at Hitched were $ 2,000+.)
Months later, 20 dress shops later, and about 100 dresses later, I thought I had found my dress at a charity event. I bought it and took it to an alterations place that told me the cost of alterations will amount to… well, basically the price of a new dress. I immediately went back to the silk organza dress I tried on at Hitched all those months ago. It was designed and made by Modern Trousseau whose showroom in Manhattan I had also visited.
When I decided on the Modern Trousseau dress, the showroom offered me a discount which Hitched promised to match. Since Hitched was more convenient for me and DC sales tax on garments is lower than New York’s, I decided to get it at Hitched. However, right after I had signed the agreement and paid my deposit, the showroom called me again with an additional $ 200 off. When I asked Hitched if they would be willing to match it, one of the owners practically yelled at me over the phone about how they were already giving me a very generous discount. I understood that I had already signed the agreement so I wasn’t expecting them to give in, but I thought the owner’s huffy reaction was unnecessary. Because of the exchange with the owner, I experienced buyer’s remorse that lasted several months until I went back for my fitting. Thus, minus one star.
The rest of my experience with Hitched (from the fittings all the way to the pickup) was fantastic. By the time my dress arrived at the store, I was working with Amber who was super sweet. Hitched offers a flat fee for alterations ($ 650) and it was comparable to quotes from two alterations shops in DC. As one of the shops told me, «Your dress is more complex then basic, has layers and volume.» Well, Jasmine, Hitched’s in-​house seamstress, tackled the complexity without breaking a sweat and she did an AMAZING job. Jasmine and Amber did a fantastic job making sure I was happy with the final product.
In the end, I LOVED my dress and do not regret the splurge at all. It was similar enough to a ball gown without the heaviness. I could not wait to put it on on my wedding day. I continue to get a lot of compliments from our wedding guests and friends who see the photos on Facebook.
Other tips:
1) Hitched only has three areas for appointments so they can be hard to come by, especially for evenings and weekends. I recommend going around lunch time if you’re not far from Georgetown. I did all of my fittings during my lunch hour since I work across the bridge in Rosslyn.
2) If you’re petite, like me, I highly recommend Modern Trousseau whose dresses fit petite shapes very well.

This was an amazing experience. The best dresses and staff. They also keep it pressure free so you can feel special, but not overwhelmed. I was very intimidated at first sight of the store, and thought they were gonna make me say yes to a dress i couldnt afford, but it was not like that at all. Loved it. Best wedding dress shopping experience I will ever have.

This was my second bridal appointment. Even though Amber was friendly, I didn’t find anything I liked at the store, everything was too common and too traditional. Not what I was looking for.

Great salon with really nice and cozy feeling. The sales and management staff was excellent to work with. They were accommodating and listened to the bride’s needs. Showed dresses within the budget and they maintained control of the appointment. Work with a (maybe some) designers exclusively but had a smaller selection of dresses and were in the ‘higher’ price points.
We forgot to take a picture of the favorite dress and called to ask if we could pop back in and were very nice about it. The most important thing about a salon is the people working it them and they were fantastic.

I had THE BEST experience at Hitched this past weekend. Hitched was my first stop in the wedding dress shopping experience and I brought a bit of an entourage with me — my mom, grandma, sister, childhood best friend, and college best friend. My experience was as follows:
I made the reservation over the phone and they sent two follow up emails with parking instructions, directions, and information about their designers and prices. I asked one question in advance, and the responded within an hour via email.
When we arrived 15 minutes early, we were accommodated immediately and brought to a beautiful and private back room where we could enjoy the experience in solitude. Katie, our consultant, was incredibly knowledgable, caring, and friendly. After being seated, she asked me what my wedding would be like and what kind of dress I imagined myself being in. She said she had some great ideas right away and took me with her to pick out about 5 dresses, all of her suggestions were spot on with what I described.
She helped me try them on and gave me ample time to display the dress to my ‘entourage’ never rushing me for a second. The designer of most of the dresses I tried on, Modern Trousseau, was actually in the store and came by to tell us about the dress I was wearing and how she came up with the name for it. It was a really special experience.
After trying on the first dresses, Katie went back to grab more dresses that she thought I might like based on my feedback. There was only one she pulled that I didn’t like and when she saw my face she said, we don’t have to show this one, and we both laughed. The entire experience was just so comfortable.
At the end I was not quite ready to buy (had another appointment later that day) and since I live out of town Katie did my measurements and let me sign the contracts at that time so I wouldn’t have to come back to the store if I decided to buy the dress that I loved — all I would have to do is call and give my credit card. There was never pressure to buy or go over my budget.
As far as alterations, they have a flat rate of $ 600, which I think is very smart. I have a lot of friends that were shocked by the cost of their alterations. Katie also explained that some brides don’t budget enough for alterations and end up with a dress that doesn’t fit them well. Hitched makes sure you know up front what the costs will be and there are no surprises later. And you do not have to do alterations with them if you don’t want — no problems! I thought this was very transparent and a great policy.
All I can say is 5 stars to Katie, 5 stars to the store itself, and 5 stars to the owner. Just a wonderful all around experience. Go Hitched!

Dresses. So. Beautiful. Can’t. Form. Complete. Sentences. Gah!
An avid fan of all things Say Yes to the Dress, I came here with my soon-​to-​be-​wed friend to take a gander at the beautiful dresses that Hitched has to offer. I’d heard much about this particular salon already, so getting to actually see it for myself was definitely a treat.
Hitched specializes in higher-​end designer gowns, with a collection of just 12 designers (or was it 9?), including Amsale, Christos, Modern Trousseau, and more. This is definitely not a place to go for budget wedding dress shopping, as these designers average between $ 3000 and $ 5000 per gown. That said, they are beautiful, beautiful dresses and if your wedding budget allots for this sort of thing, I would absolutely recommend going to Hitched.
The salon is very clean, romantic, and well-​maintained. Our stylist (I think her name was Amy?) was super friendly and enthusiastic, and even though we were running a few minutes late, we were never made to feel bad about it, or to feel rushed. I also REALLY appreciated that they allowed us to take pictures of my friend in all her glory, which is not always the case (and, in fact, has been quite rare in my experience!).
My friend tried on all manner of silhouettes and beautiful gowns in front of a large mirror where there was plenty of seating for her entourage (er, us) to comment and fawn and ooh and ahh over her. At the end of the appointment, Amy wrote down the details of the two dresses she liked best, a gorgeous form-​fitting lace-​overlay sheath with a sweetheart neckline, and an increeeeedible ombré (!!) ballgown from Modern Trousseau (which is now totally pinned to my own wedding board on Pinterest, ahahaha.)
All in all, we had a really great experience at Hitched! There were just a few things that kept it shy of that perfect 5* rating:
— It was very warm and humid inside when we first entered, and it took some time to adjust to the non-​air conditioned space.
— We had to ask for water, which I just feel like at a place that has dresses at this price point, it should probably be offered?
— My friend was never asked what her budget was for a gown. And I totally get that in general, if you’re shopping at Hitched your budget is probably a little bigger anyway, but there’s still a difference between spending $ 3500 and $ 5000 on a gown, and I feel like it’s important for all salons not to showcase dresses above your budgeted price point. I mean, what if you fall in love?!
And then, my last qualm, which may or may not matter to you at all depending on what size you wear, is that all of Hitches’ sample gowns that we saw are sizes 8 and 10, which essentially equates to street sizes 4 and 6. Maybe you could say one or two might fit a 8, depending on the brand, but they all seemed to skew very small to me. My friend has an absolutely rockin’ bod and all the dresses fit her basically perfectly without much clipping needed, and a very slender girl who was in the store trying on dresses next to us couldn’t get many of the gowns she tried on zipped up completely. Sooooo obviously, that’s not great news for fuller figured ladies. So while I would love to return to Hitched when my own special day rolls around, it’ll probably only be if I either A) lose 40 pounds, or B) they start carrying a few larger sample sizes.
Either way though, it was still a wonderful experience, with no hard pressure to buy, a lot of beautiful dresses, and good times spent with great friends.

THEY SAVED THE DAY!!!
After my nightmare experience at Kleinfeld’s in NYC, who left me without a dress 6 weeks before my wedding day, Hitched pulled some strings and put me in an even more gorgeous new dress!
I called and explained my situation and they pulled some dresses from the trunk show they were having later that month, brought it into the store, and let me come in that same day to try them on.
It was a seamless process and I L-​O-​V-​E my new dress! I can’t THANK them enough for saving me from any soon to be bride’s worst nightmare!!! Your staff, customer service, and empathy shown is nothing put top-​notch.

DO NOT… I REPEAT… DO NOT GO TO MARIA THERESA CALOYEROPOULOS in Alexandria to be your seamstress. She is the ABSOLUTE WORST!!! For the safety of your dress, please to to another seamstress.

I didn’t buy my wedding dress from Hitched but I was really happy with my experience there. I’m only giving them 4 stars because their selection was very limited.
The consultant was wonderful. Hitched was the first place I went to look at dresses and I brought my mom. The consultant was great, super friendly, asked a ton of questions about me, my style, my fiancé, our wedding, etc. I tried on about a dozen dresses… and absolutely fell in love with one of them but she gave me the best advice anyone could have given me.
«You can fall in love with a dress but not want to wear it to your wedding.» That was the case. I love that she didn’t push me to buy a dress. She knew it was my first time, so she happily wrote down the style numbers for all of the dresses I did like and followed up a few weeks later to ask if I had found a dress or was interested in coming back to try on any of those dresses again.

This place was great.
I went in without a budget, just to try on styles. The woman who helped me never rushed me or acted annoyed that I wasn’t planning to buy or that I didn’t have anything specific in mind. She let us take photos (although I’m not sure it’s their store policy) and gave me the names and prices of the dresses I liked best before we left!

Came back to order said dress from previous review and to my surprise the DESIGNER was there! Because the shop is so teeny, Callie Tein was able to dedicate so much time to me, I was floored! She even looked at my bridesmaids’ dress swatches and helped me choose my dress color. I am just in awe of this place. They are so, so wonderful and have made me feel so special.

I bought my beautiful wedding dress here — a lace Modern Trousseau creation. The selection is reasonable, and they have a nice range of styles. I wanted something sleek and modern, not princess-​y, and they have some of everything.
I didn’t have bridesmaids, but it seemed like there was a cute assortment of dresses for those who are going that route.
The seamstress (whose name I am blanking on now) was lovely, and very patiently worked with me through two fittings. She did a very nice job and the bustle in particular was beautiful. She worked out a different way of doing it from the way the salesgirl and I both initially suggested, and her instincts were right on.
Due to being busy at work I had to pay an extra $ 500 fee to have the dress ready in a shorter amount of time (I forget exactly what the normal and shorter time frames are since it’s been a while). All in all it was about a $ 4000 experience. Some of the dresses are less expensive and if you aren’t a procrastinator like me that could also make it less expensive.
All in all, though, highly recommended.

After reading some of the reviews, I have to say that I had nothing but an incredibly positive experience at Hitched and I STRONGLY suggest that DC area brides, at the very least, pay them a visit.
They really do have a dress for every budget (I bought a beautiful sample dress from them at an exceptionally reasonable price, but if your budget permits, they have a beautifully curated collected of new dresses) — and they exceeded my expectations, and made every aspect of my bridal experience very easy.
They actually were so great that I ended up getting my bridesmaids dresses and invitations from them as well.
Additionally, the store is what a bridal store should be. It is warm and inviting — and will make you feel at ease — which is what every bride needs during what can be a stressful time.
I am going to go ahead and say that I have champagne taste with a prosecco budget — but out of all of the bridal salons I visited in DC (some high end and some mid-​range) — Hitched was the absolute best. They are down to earth, very efficient (I had 12 bridesmaids and they made the bridesmaids process super simple), and have a fresh selection that is both elegant and contemporary.
I was just so happy to find a place that finally celebrated the experience I was having as a bride — I really didn’t want to end my time with them!

Love the atmosphere. Love the dresses. Like (but not love) the overall experience.
I visited Hitched as a trusty bridesmaid accompanying a friend on her quest for the perfect dress. I absolutely love the appearance of the shop — it’s bright and cheerful and filled with gorgeous gowns. Really, it’s exactly what I’d want a bridal shop to look like if I was the one searching for the gown. We knew ahead of time that it’s a higher end bridal salon, but it carries gowns from well-​known and respected designers which is exactly what my friend was looking for. However, I think it’s important to note that the consultant didn’t ask my friend about her budget.
I’ve watched countless episodes of Say Yes To The Dress, and if I’ve learned anything from Randy it’s that you never try on a dress outside of your price range. We all know what happens why you try on that ridiculously expensive dress «just for fun»… yea, it becomes «the one.» Well, thankfully, my friend didn’t face this budget-​smashing fate because she didn’t end up finding her dress here, but I can imagine this could be an issue for some people. My advice would be to tell the consultants flat out what your budget is (whether or not they ask you).
Lack of budget establishment aside, the consultant we worked with was very friendly and even allowed me and the other bridesmaid who joined us to provide input on dress selections. This was really fun for us, since the bride-​to-​be pretty much looks like a barbie — aka she looks amazing in even the most obscure dresses. One dress in particular reminded me of art deco architecture… it wasn’t quite working for me in dress form, but it was really cool to see it on an actual person.
Bottom line: Hitched is a beautiful bridal salon worth a shot if shopping in the DC/​NOVA area. Just remember to state your budget up front if you need to adhere to strict monetary guidelines.
