Be very careful in verifying the fee that they charge. I was charged $ 35 for a tourist visa despite their online documentation saying it was only $ 30. When I received by passport back, the visa said I was only charged $ 30. Very suspicious

1÷10÷2013 — Update to include my experience at the Thai-​Cambodian border:
After my experience of entering Cambodian through Poipet, I am glad that I got the visa here in the US. From Thailand, the road to the border was not clearly marked and there are scammers offering to «help» with getting the visa. We couldn’t find our way to the Thai immigration so I went into a nearby bank to ask for direction. Luckily there was a police officer in there so I asked him. Once I cleared the Thai immigration, there is a short walk to get to the Cambodian immigration. If you choose to get the visa upon arrival, it is not in the same building as where they check your passport.
The experience might have not been so confusing if I arrived in Cambodia at an airport, but I highly recommend that you get a visa at the embassy or through e-​visa if you are planning to cross the border. Please note that if you return back to Thailand, you will only be granted a 15-​day stay instead of 30 when arriving at a Thai airport.

To update on the other comment about the embassy, I called embassy and someone answered the phone on my second attempt. Here are some tips to consider when calling an embassy:
1. In addition to the US holidays, they are also closed on their country’s national holidays.
2. Try calling them during their open hours, which I’m pretty sure that they are shorter than the actual working hours. For this embassy, they are open for visa processing from Monday thru Friday 9:00am to noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm EST. Go to their website. There is a specific instruction regarding calling the consulate.
Unlike the previous reviewer who is Unilocaling from Chicago, IL, I live near Washington, DC so I was able to go downtown and drop off my family’s passports and visa applications. I don’t like driving in DC, but the embassy is not easily accessible my Metro. The closest ones are Georgia Ave-​Petworth and Columbia Heights, but both are more than a mile walk. Parking is available on the neighborhood streets nearby. I didn’t have any problem finding a place to park.
Dropping off the paperwork was quick. Since we are traveling with a minor, I incorrectly assumed that since I filled out my son’s information at the bottom of the visa forms for my husband and me, I didn’t have to fill out a separate application for my son. The clerk gave me another form to fill out for my son. The fee at the time of this writing is $ 25 USD per adult and minors under 12 are free. After looking through the applications and collected the fee, I was told to come back on Wednesday or later (I dropped of the passports and the visa applications on Friday) and pick up the visas.
When I went back to pick up the visas, the clerk recognized me and confirmed the number of passports that I dropped off. I checked the passports to make sure that they are all ours. I signed off on the visa log. The clerk wished me a great trip in Cambodia. I thanked him for processing the visas and looking forward to my vacation.
On both days that I was at the embassy, I did not spend more than 15 minutes there.

Hi — this is Mike. Thanks for processing my tourist visa for me. I had a great time in Siem Reap visiting all the temples and experiencing the local culture and cuisine.
I have one suggestion, however. I think it’s time you changed/​updated your phone system and outgoing messages. When I didn’t hear from you for a long period of time regarding my visa application, I called to make sure you received my passport and nothing was wrong.
Your outgoing message instructed me to contact an extension which no one answered and went into a voice mailbox which was full. Another message instructed me to e-​mail an e-​mail address which I have yet to hear back a response from and depending on which source I relied on (voicemail or website), there were two different e-​mail addresses to contact (fyi — I contacted them both and still no answer).
Frustrated, I had to resort to spamming every single number in hopes of reaching a living person. I finally reached one at extension 14 but she appeared to be a cleaning lady and she promptly hung up on me after instructing me to «call back». I called back as ordered and found another person at extension 20 who pushed a few magical buttons and transferred my call to the nice person who eventually told me about my date/​month mix-​up on my visa application and therefore the lag in processing my visa.
In short, I admit the date mix-​up was entirely my fault. I should have known better but it still doesn’t really justify having such a «complex» communication process. Please consider fixing this so people can reach you better. I think you’ll find that I’m not the only one who has made and will make the date/​month mistake and will try to contact you to find out the status of their visas.
