Drybar – Georgetown

I keep coming back because Corey does an amazing job every time. He’s also very pleasant to have conversation with during the process. If you have thick, curly hair do yourself a favor and come see Corey!

I would not recommend this drybar if you don’t want to wait at least an hour past your appointment time. I had to do my hair myself they were so late. Usually they are about 15 minutes late. Tonight it was over an hour and the worst part is they did not explain or communicate. I asked for a glass of water and never got it. Last time they were out of all drinks and ice. This time they never brought it. They did not explain or apologize while we waited or apologize when I left after they saw me doing my own hair. I saw people who came when I did still waiting when I left. I am shocked at their lack of professionalism. I would not recommend using this salon.

This Drybar is awesome! I typically go once a week and have rarely been disappointed. I usually get my hair done by Londyn who is absolutely amazing! Go during the week, it’s less hectic!

I cannot believe this place. You schedule appointments here often because you have an event that evening. I showed up on time for my appointment, an hour before a nearby event, only to be told that they are running behind by seven people waiting, with only three people working. No one called me to let me know, and they said; we don’t have phones.” My hair is completely undone, and they won’t even let me use a curling iron to fix it, given that their nearly hour delay would make me inexcusably late to my event. Do not come here. Inexcusable.

This place has experienced a gradual decline since my initial review and today is the last straw. I have had some less than satisfactory experiences before but it was generally due to them not being able to style it the way I asked. That in and of itself is hilarious considering how you choose the style from the menu in the salon but whatever. I just go home and fix it. No big deal. Today, there is no salvaging this. My hair is not straight, it was not dry, it is FULL of product so going home to touch it up myself it not an option. I have a work conference that I am going out of town for tomorrow and to say I am pissed is an understatement.
It started with the weird shampoo experience. I received a temple and nape massage but she never actually touched the center of my head. She just seemed to shampoo the ends and called it a day. But it gets worse,. Whenever I book an appointment I clearly state that I am black American with thick curly textured hair. If you do not know how to blow out textured hair, just say so. Do not waste my time and my money and I will happily go home. All you have to do is say that you are not up to the task. I won’t judge you for it. I am not up to it, that is why I pay someone else to do it.
And I hate to have to say this but this girl was black and I feel like she shouldn’t have known better. I have had several white stylists at Drybar do my hair and have done a superb job. So I know it is not just the difficulties of dealing with natural African American hair.
So she decides to blow dry my hair and like with the subpar shampoo where I barely felt water on my scalp, this time I barely felt the heat of the blow dryer on my scalp. I kept thinking to myself «what is she doing?»
With hair as thick as mine, you actually have to make sure that the roots are dry before you try to curl it. Oh and the curling part. This is where it gets downright funny. She kept trying to use the brush and the blow-​dryer to spiral my hair and as a result just kept getting it tangled in my hair. I have walked out of Drybar many, many times with silky feathery, shiny, flowing locks that I couldn’t get enough selfies of. This is usually because a flat iron was used at some point, but not today. Brush and curling iron only. As a result, I have a puffy, frizzy, yaki texture thing happening that I could have done at home and saved myself $ 45 and an hour in Georgetown traffic. And the hairspray… Oh God, the hairspray! She used half the can of the firm hold stuff and on top of my hair being frizzy, puffy and yaki, it is also sticky and stiff. It looks like I am wearing a wig. A cheap one! I am so mad right now, I don’t know what to do with myself. I would put old girl on blast but I can’t because she never gave me her name but she did tell me that she is new at the END of my appointment. Which brings me to my next concern. Maybe I am not there often enough but I am thinking that the turnover at Drybar must be above average making every appointment a crap shoot. You never know how it is going to turn out.
I am thinking it is time to let go of the $ 40 blowouts, oh wait, it is $ 45 now…-_– and find a full service salon to do my blowouts. Getting my hair done should be a pleasant experience and I don’t think I can handle this level of disappointment again.

I came here to get my hair curled. I would say that you need to allot at least 45 minutes to get your blowout from start to finish. For 45 bucks I think this is a very legit spot to get a blow out. I love their service and their décor.
They validate parking here so park in the garage behind their building. This is a major plus plus plus being that this is in Georgetown. Yes, the Georgetown also known as the place where parking always magically never seems to be present when you need it, but always seems to be abundant when you are not driving.
On a totally different note, this location gave me a complimentary bright yellow umbrella because it started to rain. It is a super cute umbrella. I have been using this super cute umbrella for my rainy day needs. I have been using this umbrella like a mad woman especially with all the rain we have been having this week… I mean that alone deserves a 5 star rating.

Update: Allison from Drybar Client services reached out to me and made things right. I’m very pleased with this great customer service and will certainly be giving drybar another try!
I have only been to this location once but I would have to agree with most of the other reviewers about the wait time. I was pretty disappointed because I had a headshot scheduled and I was not seen until 15 – 20 minutes after my appointment.
The stylist was nice but did not seem to understand the style that I wanted. I picked out the Cosmo and though the end result was fine, it looked absolutely NOTHINg like what I wanted.
Plus the stylist insisted on selling me some tiny little product that would «preserve my style) without telling me the price. It ended up being $ 15 and I’ve never used it. After the price plus tip and the upsell, it wasn’t really worth it. I will try the Tyson’s location to use the remainder of my 3 pack.

I loved my experience at Georgetown Drybar. From start to finish it was such a treat. I got to watch Pretty Woman while getting pampered, and I absolutely adore the finished result of my Cosmo curls. My stylist wasn’t overly chatty, but that’s my preference anyway. They even gave me a free umbrella because it was pouring out and I didn’t have one.
My only wish is that they could serve wine! I’ll definitely be back.

Yet again another wonderful drybar experience. Brittany was awesome I always leave looking and feeling great! !! Can’t wait until my next visit

This place was amazing. They were accommodating with a walk in and the receptionist was very nice. My stylist gave me the best scalp massage I’ve had. The shampoo was one of the most through one I’ve had. They made sure I had a fresh drink. Also the customer service was top notch, first class all the way. They keep me in the loop while I waited and did it with a genuine smile on their faces. If you need to charge your phone while your there just bring your USB cable, they have USB charging ports at the stations. Chairs were comfortable as well. Out of all the blow dry chains out there, so far they are the best. I just wish there was one closer to where I live so I could enjoy this treat more often. I hope they open more locations to share this with more people.

So i love getting my hair done so I have tried a few different places. I do not recommend the dry bar in tysons corner yet. they are new and don’t really know what they are doing. But if you want the best looking hair that lasts long do the the dry bar in Georgetown. The best person would be Ebone specially for black hair. She is sweet and knows what she is doing!!!

I have been to this location three times within the last four months and each experience gets worse. This last experience was the one that set me off. I arrived for my 6:30pm appointment on time and checked in. The waiting area was full of other customers waiting. Typically, I have to wait 20 minutes past my appointment time before I get taken back. Knowing this I always book appointment times earlier then I need.
Seeing how many people were waiting, I knew they were running behind– little did I know how far behind they were. The receptionist never brought my coffee– that would have been nice while I waited.
Forty five minutes later I was finally taken back to get my hair washed. FORTY FIVE MINUTES!!! What is the reason for even making an appointment time if you can’t commit to it?
Blowouts are great but the lack of respect for my time makes it not worth it.

I’ve had a very tough time since moving from LA to DC over the past six years with finding someone that can do my hair right and without trying to pressure me to perm/​relax it to make it easier on them. HA. But after tonight, I’ve finally found a new home!
All good things from start to finish. I made a last minute appt this morning and they fit me in after work at 530. She only used a bit of product and then she blow dried my hair with care and perfection and went over it with a flatiron to get my sleek Manhattan.
I have NEVER been so pleased with my hair!!! Too bad I couldn’t get my ends trimmed too ;)

I feel like I need to update my review as I have consistently had positive experiences since my one very negative one (which they did comp me for). However, I will only book with one person (the good image was her work). She is fantastic and makes my hair look amazing every single time. Additionally, she is nice enough to stay later to make sure I can get an appointment with her. She is pregnant though and my hair is scared for who it will see when she is on maternity leave!

The first time I came here, I had an awesome experience and I mistakenly thought it would happen twice without getting the same stylist. This time, my scalp was burned repeatedly as my hair was being blown dry. Secondly, I wanted it curly and while it was eventually curled and pinned up, there was so much heat used — first with the dryer on super high and then passing the flat iron over my hair MULTIPLE times — that now my hair is dry and didn’t last ¼ of the time that my last blowout lasted. Not sure if I can commit to coming back to Drybar because if my experiences are so varied, it’s always a crapshoot and I’m not sure if I’m willing to take that risk. Especially at the risk of forsaking my healthy hair.

I had a very good experience at Dry Bar– Georgetown, today. I waited for about 15 – 20 mins for my appointment but once I got in the chair I was not disappointed.
Tamia was fantastic! She washed my hair multiple times thoroughly and spent time finger detangling my (African American) textured hair, then quickly moved through blow drying and flat ironing with care. I was a little nervous about putting so much heat on my natural hair but I don’t think the technique caused any severe heat damage.
I also appreciated the ambiance of the salon. They offered me a beverage upon arrival and also had cookies out. The staff was friendly, the presentation of the salon was clean and posh. The salon played an assortment of different music genres from pop, soulful music ever and light hip hop.
I would definitely recommend the salon and highly recommend Tamia.

I went to the Georgetown location about 2 weeks ago for a blow out for a friends wedding. It was literally one of the most humid days I had experienced in years.
I am giving three stars for two reasons: the front desk was chaotic at both check in and out and the volume of the music. It was so loud I was literally shouting at the receptionist, I realize this is a hub for Gtown and GW students but we are not all one of them and would like a semi calming experience. There was a large order of pizza being delivered in the middle of the tiny waiting room which caused everyone to dance around the delivery guy to make way.
That said once I was handed over to my stylist Cashmere I was very happy. I would like to note to the manager of this store that Cashmere deserves 5 stars. She was expeditious without being rushed, respected my time to relax and read with forcing idyll awkward chat on me and very knowledgable about hair in general. I realize that some people like to gossip with their stylists and Cashmere seemed to recognize that I was not one of them. However that is not to say she was cold or unfriendly because she was neither.
Since I was going through a flat hair period due to the weather I explained I wanted BIG hair because I knew that it would inevitably fall a little due to the 98% humidity outside. She accommodated without making me look like Dolly Parton. One patron stopped me on the way out because she liked the style and recognized we had similar hair types. I really wish they did have a downtown DC or Old Town location geared to more professionals. While I did appreciate the endless magazines and movies driving to Gtown is a giant pain in the ass and again… The music.
Here is where my review will get a little weird: (one caveat, I am a commercial construction project manager so therefore basically crazy), the store was well put together. The Millwork and flooring was quality however I would advise that they have someone come look at their stone tops bc the constant dry heat is causing hairline cracks and seaming issues. I have also installed the same Maharam wall covering in about four DC lobbying offices so well done with blending with the City. (Everyone should ignore this part of the review. Contractors can be obsessive about these things.)
The last thing I will say is that they have parking. Real honest to goodness parking. Whoever choose this location, albeit inconvenient for those of us who don’t attend one of the surrounding Universities, deserves a freaking high five and two snaps up in a row for picking a store front with abundant parking in the back.
So in summary, Cashmere was wonderful and please for the love of all blow outs, please turn the music down. WOW, I sound old…

In a desperate need of a shampoo and blow out while in dc u was glad to see that there was a dry bar location in town. I go to the dry bar in Beverly Hills and really like their services.
A few of the ladies were friendly especially the girl who checked me in but a lot of the ladies didn’t appear too friendly, no smiles or pleasantries. Different than the staff in Beverly Hills. Overall, my gal did an awesome cosmo blow out. However, I was a little grossed out at the amount of hair leftover in the shampoo bowl from the previous client when I sat down. It didn’t ruin the experience but it caught me off guard. The gal who styled my hair had to wrangle with my long and thick mane but the style turned out wonderful.

My first Drybar experience was great! It was my birthday AND I had a formal event to go to that night, so I figured it’d be a good time for my first blowout. I have medium-​length, straight, VERY thick hair, and blunt cut bangs (like Zooey Deschanel’s, but obviously way less well-​coiffed).
I wasn’t sure what style would look best on my hair because none of the models on the website had bangs like mine, so I strategized with Secely, my stylist, about what I should try. Ultimately, we settled on the Cosmopolitan (lots of curls) because they’d relax over the next few hours into the wavy look I wanted.
Drybar is an ingenious invention for people who just don’t have hair skillz like myself. Secely (in a mere 45 minutes) washed, dried, and curled my hair like a total pro! I got tons of compliments and cannot wait to go back once my hair is longer (I want to try a couple of other styles that would look better with longer hair).

I used to love going to this Drybar, now it’s becoming my less favorite. I end up leaving so upset and even more discouraged. The lack of technique is gone. My hair never gets completely clean. And then the last time I went, I got the hair shot. And the next day, I noticed that my scalp is burn! I will update with photos later but I just couldn’t believe it.
It can be a hit or miss now. Before, every stylist I went to I was impressed. Now, I don’t know what I will get. Super disappointed customer.
Oh and let’s not even talk about the wait time! I went one day and had to wait for over 25 mins and I had a scheduled appointment.
I did send a complaint, and the lady I am dealing with has been nice and followed up with how my scalp is doing. My scalp hasn’t been the same since. Just want to cry!
