Been here a few times with my colleagues from work for lunch and I consistently get good service. The portions are decently sized but the food itself is okay. I’ve had both a burger and pasta here and I was pretty indifferent to them both but with the great service there isn’t much I can complain about.

After a long(and overindulgent) happy hour, we swung into Chophouse on a whim. Excellent choice! Decent wine list, but a wonderful pinot noir(Stoller), and the complimentary cornbread was so tasty! We ordered way too much food and ended up taking half of it home(still delicious the next day). I ordered the lamb, and he got the«Diane”-prepped filet mignon(pepper seared with cognac cream). Everything was very good — much better than I anticipated. Robert, our server, was absolutely wonderful. He alone deserves 5 stars, but I have to give Chophouse a 4.5 because of their crazy bathroom setup — you have to take an old elevator to the basement. It seems quaint and charming at first(I think the building used to be a bank many years ago), but the charm fades after the first(long) trip.

The filet mignon is so delicious. I savored every bite. I also had the lump crab appetizer. It looks like a small serving when it arrives but it is just enough. The crab is fresh and the aioli it is served with really adds that extra kick. I didn’t try any beer but the lemon drops were strong and sweet. I highly recommend this restaurant !

I absolutely loved this restaurant. We started with two beers — Amber Ale for me, and the special IPA for him. Both delicious and unique. We split the calamari appetizer, which was fantastic. The sauce was great, and the breading was light and flavorful. The complimentary cornbread was also delicious. For entrees, I had the seafood cobb salad — TONS of shrimp and lobster, with a great dressing. He had the strip steak, and I almost wished that I had ordered it after trying a bite. We ended with the chocolate mousse cake, which was unreal. We were full but not stuffed, and very satisfied. I would definitely go back next time we’re in DC.

Very nice upscale steakhouse in the Penn Quarter district of Washington, D.C. With all the restaurants closing in the city, hopefully this one will stick around. The portions were great for the prices paid, and the food was really good too. I ate here for lunch during the week to beat the crowds and it definitely has a Clyde’s feel to it. But with a suggestion and recommendation from friends, I got their lunch special meatloaf. Came with mashed potatoes with I substituted with a baked potato. All meals come with their specially made cornbread, which is fantastic. Served on a skillet, it is sweet, but moist, and very well made. It starts out a bit messy when you get it because its hot, but as it cools down, it gets better. A lot better. When the entrees arrived, I was pleased to see that the meatloaf was a nice size, and not just a small square you’re accustomed to seeing at cafeterias. It even had nice texture and great sauce over it, with mushrooms too. The baked potato though was just okay. I only got through half before I called it quits. The meatloaf though I managed to finish and was so happy with it that if I came here next time, it would definitely be something I would get again. I recommend this place for lunch, and the staff was really great too.

Despite the location so nearby the Verizon Center(cue quite a few Caps Jerseys when a game is on!), District Chophouse has a vaguely classy, old school flair to it that both my my mother and I enjoyed. We came here for dinner when she as in town over a weekend and she loved it so much(and she’s hard to please!) that she asked if we return for lunch a day later. It doubles as both a great spot to grab a(delicious!) burger or light meal at the bar with a beer or a full on filet mignon or other cut with all the fixings for a reasonable price(cornbread and a side included). I can’t speak for vegetarian options, but given how on point all four of our meals were, I am sure they excel in those areas as well. The waitstaff was very friendly and patient, and offered some great recommendations when it came to their(short, but solid) wine list. Despite the weirdness of having to take an elevator to access the restroom(!!!), I will definitely be back soon — though I’ll check the Caps schedule in advance if I plan on a more intimate, romantic evening.

Just visiting DC but stopped here on the advice of my niece. Stellar food, outstanding service. Special shout out to Bartender/Wait person Brenna who was friendly, knowledgeable, smart, cute, great personality and knew her Jameson Whiskey. If you get a chance the place was great, if you get Brenna its a total bonus. I hope her management sees this review. I’m still sending a hand written note Vance

Great steakhouse ambiance from start to finish. Our server was friendly and prompt. My cousin loved her dirty martini and they had lots of wines to choose from, so I was very happy. We started with some yummy calamari and they had delicious complimentary corn bread as a starter. We each ordered a very nice sized Ribeye steak, which was cooked perfectly. We were too full for dessert, but I look forward to coming back to try it.

A friend took me here for my birthday last month and the filet mignon was by far one of the best steaks I have ever had. I pretty much wanted to try almost everything on the menu but I told my friend I wanted steak, and I’m glad this was our choice. They have a full bar and were able to make any drink I asked for. I was sure to save room for dessert because the cake options were just amazing especially being a chocolate fan. Make a reservation and check them out. The employees are super nice and fun. I was very happy with the entire experience.

The District Chophouse is our go to restaurant before Caps games. I’m a fan of the pub burger and different salads they offer, while my dad always goes for the rib eye. The house brewed beer options are fantastic as well. Every time we’ve been here we’ve had fabulous service. The wait staff is attentive and always ready to make recommendations and hold friendly conversation. Can’t wait until the next game!

Ate over 3000 calories, couldn’t stop myself! Our waiter Curtis was excellent, the house brewed Amber Ale was top notch and even enjoyed their house cab! Bone-in Ribeye was the goto for me, 16oz of marbled deliciousness. All the sides we ordered were spot on, baked potatoes, tower of onion rings(huge), and clam bisque. If you’re in need of a decently priced steak, this is a place to visit.

I had a horrible experience here during a dinner before a Caps game. The place was packed but that’s no excuse for pour service. We initially ordered our drinks and appetizers at the same time… our appetizer came first and our drinks came when we were almost done eating our appetizer. As far as my drink I ordered a dirty martini and I just got a vodka martini… When we ordered dinner most of our orders were messed up. My cousin ordered a medium well burger and it was rare… she sent it back and it was still red inside… sent it back again and got a overly well done burger. My nephew got lamb chops medium and they were well done. I ordered a steak and although it came out medium as I ordered it didn’t have much flavor and was very tough for a $ 40 steak. Overall I was highly disappointed… way too expensive for the service and quality…

Ok we were going to Penn social but the customer service from the bar upstairs made us EXIT. We don’t accept ignorance at NO LEVELs! So we headed up the street to Chopt and I must say we really enjoyed ourselves and the service from Amarillo. The crab cake dinner was great. Everything tasted so fresh. My wife’s rib tip and mushroom dinner was good. She enjoyed her French onion soup. It was pretty strong, I think maybe made with beer. Since they are a brewery. We didn’t like the sauce that was on the barbecue shrimp appetizer that definitely had beer stout in it and the shrimp were a tad salty buuuut those big a** shrimp were so fresh. But not worth $ 15 for 4 shrimp. No no lol also you must try the chocolate mousse cake. Soooo delicious. That was on the house. Overall I give them a 4.5. And we will come again :-)

I have high standards for steak restaurants after having eaten at Capital Grille, Bourbon Steak, Ruth’s Chris, Rays the Steaks, Bobby Vans and a few others in the area. I went for a company dinner since the Unilocal reviews always kept me away but since it was sponsored by my company I thought it’s a good time to give it a try. For our appetizer they ordered the chicken satay, and meatballs. The chicken satay wasn’t good, it was dry and bland. The meatball however, was pretty decent. For our entrees we had two salads(Caesar and house), mashed potatoes, green beans, pork loin, flap steak, and chicken picatta. The sales were good, the mashed potatoes were decent but the meat was horrible. The ccicken picatta wasn’t bad but it was soggy. Thr pork loon couldn’t be cut with a steak knife. I think a torch might’ve worked. The flap steak wasn’t bad but the teriyaki sauce was very spicy. I like spicy but wow. The service wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t go back and I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for the meal. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because the dessert was pretty good. Oh by the way, the cornbread was horrendous… I love founding farmers cornbread but their cornbread was inedible… I later learned that this is a sister company of Rock Bottom Brewery and that explained everything…

Came here for a holiday party and I must say that I had a good experience. The waitress/service was very good. She did her best to accommodate a large party. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice but I wasn’t a fan of the seating arrangement for large parties. The spaces were tight and were extremely close to other booths. As for the food, we were served complimentary cornbread(yummy) and I ordered the New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp as my appetizer. The seasoning and flavor of the shrimp was so good! For my entrée, I ordered the Tenderloin Tips and Mushrooms. It was delicious and the portion size was huge so I gladly took a to-go bag home(lol). I would recommend this restaurant.

We visited District Chophouse Brewery yesterday for dinner and were happy with our experience. We had a large group(13) and five kids mixed ages(family). This restaurant is a block away from Verizon stadium and there was a Washington Capitals game on. so needless to say every restaurant was packed. A few of the adults were fortunate enough to snag a bar table for a couple of glasses of wine. I went with two flights of their 9 beers which was perfect, especially since we had such a large group. My favorite was the oatmeal stout. give it a try. :) After a 45min wait we were seated. I compliment the server and restaurant because it is not easy taking care of a large table let alone one with so many young restless kids. We ordered the chophouse sampler, onion rings, calamari, need tips, salads, crab soup. I enjoyed trying all the different foods. My favorite was the Portabello mushroom on the appetizer sampler. It didn’t look very good and it sat on the plate till the end until I gave it a shot. It was tasty. The corn bread they bring out is very good too. Monica thought the spinach side was too salty. I did not care for the spinach dip. Too many crumbs on top and the consistency was too thick not creamy. All in all we had good experience. Server: 4 Stars Food: 3.8 Atmosphere: 4.2

Popped in unexpectedly for a late lunch on Christmas Eve Day for a party of 3, and was very happy with what what found! They brew their own beer(as the name implies) and have a good selection of brews they make to choose from. As with any brewery, they don’t sell outside beer. The lunch portions are HUGE! They proved a complimentary«bread basket» prior which actually was a delightful cornbread served in small skillet. Perfectly sized and warm — fresh from the oven! I ordered the lunch salad, the«chop chop.» Let me just say that at $ 14.99 it could have served all three of us. It was truly that large– so much so that it was a little sad because who the hell can eat that much?! It was full of cubed Gouda cheese, cubed oven-roasted turkey, avocado chunks, garbanzo beans, blueberries and pumpkin seeds. It also was served in a metal bowl a la mixing bowl style– very reminiscent of SweetGreen actually. My other dining companions ordered: the lobster club sandwich– which was FULL of a solid layer of lobster, layer of avocado, and a layer of slaw/lettuce. She had absolutely nothing bad to say about this. Last dining companion ordered: tenderloin tips $ mushrooms. He wasn’t a huge fan of how large the button mushrooms were, but really– it’s a mushroom and tenderloin dish– what did he expect?! It is served with sweet potato fries. At the end we were positively stuffed. Would definitely come back for another meal here! Service was prompt and friendly.

I haven’t been to District Chophouse & Brewery in a country minute, but I remembered they never failed me in the past. For a change, my office planned our Christmas luncheon here and we were all impressed! The restaurant was so festively decorated for the upcoming Christmas holiday season and it was so welcoming. Our server, Jose’ was extremely efficient and friendly. I usually come here to eat a steak or beef tips, but since I wasn’t in a beef mood, I ordered an off-menu special, the blackened Cajun chicken and pasta. Really great dish! It was a huge portion, so much so, I have enough for lunch for the next day. Out of a group of 10, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Someone ordered the spinach dip with pita chips for an appetizer, I had a taste and it was excellent! If I had to make one observation, I would have to say that it’s pretty tight in the restaurant. The tables and chairs are a bit too close for my liking. You can never go wrong with District Chophouse and Clyde’s…classic restaurants, with good eats!

Great customer service, even during a very busy happy hour. All the seats in the downstairs bar were full so we headed upstairs, which alas was also full. On our way back down, a manager standing by the bar area motioned to us and pointed towards a table that was *just* opening up at the front of the bar. We swooped in and got the table, which felt like a great accomplishment in the packed area. The servers were busy, but we only waited a minute or two before we were brought water, our beer questions were answered and we ordered drinks(the stout for me and the barrel-aged stout for hubby; which was not on happy hour due to high ABV but very good and worth a try) along with the veggie flatbread and the sweet potato fries($ 5.50). The server was around for refills etc and another staff member made a round around the bar just as happy hour was about to end to ask we had any last orders, which was very nice. I was impressed that even with a huge crowd and lots of orders, we got great service, our food came out in good time and everything from the beer to the appetizers were really good(and at a great value during HH). I’ll be back for sure.

Great service, great food. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive, and polite. The same could be said for everyone who filled our glasses and brought out food. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a nice meal with quality service, and this was a great place despite being in Chinatown. It’s also much larger than it looks on the outside and isn’t as dark as I thought it would be for dinner(I actually like that I could read my menu without straining my eyes.). I ordered the 8 ounce filet mignon and mashed potatoes. My friend and I split a half order of the colossal onion rings and sauteed spinach and the complimentary cornbread which came in a cast iron skillet. The onion rings were accompanied by ketchup in a gravy boat and a circular container of what I think was hot sauce. It wasn’t that spicy and was nice with the very heavily battered onion rings. I didn’t like the spinach as much but thought the steak was amazing. An 8 ounce cut that was medium, soft, tender, juicy, and delicious. The one down side is it was salty for my palate. I felt that was true for the mashed potatoes but still found it enjoyable. The cornbread was a great neutral break from the saltiness of the food and while dessert looked interesting, I was beyond stuffed and couldn’t even finish the food on my plate, and if you know me, I hate not fulfilling my duties as a member of the clean plate club.
