Yeah! We went here last night and it was wonderful. The service was great(waitress) and the meat came around very quickly. The salad Bar was good, I always love the cheeses. The drinks we very good! Finally, the meat was very good! Our fav was the garlic sirloin, but they were pretty much all good. Everything was also offered how we preferred it cooked, which is sometimes more difficult to find at Brazilian places. I’d definitely recommend it. The restaurant is beautiful too! And they have a military/veteran discount!

The Fairfax location is definitely better, and in comparison to Fogo or Chima I’d put this at the low end. It’s kind of a combination of the meat not being seasoned as well, and also I was fairly disappointed in the service we received during my recent visit. Granted, we were a large group. I think the server was a bit overwhelmed. I ordered my drink twice and never received it. I will say the manager seemed to be pretty on top of it and when he realized that there were some issues at the table. He came over and started to smooth things out, but I would say if you are looking to hit a Brazilian Steakhouse in DC, you want to hit Fogo de Chao.

So I’m hanging out at a bridal shower, and I casually ask the bride’s sister what the plans are next weekend for the bachelorette party. I get hit back with ‘I’m having trouble finding a place in the city for the big dinner Saturday night, waiting to hear back from a couple spots.’ Girrrl, we in danger! Saturday night group dinners in DC are quite possibly the most expensive and annoying activities to plan and execute. But I have a reputation to maintain, being the Elite Unilocaler and all, so I stepped up. With a week to go, 17 girls, mixed diet restrictions, I immediately thought Texas de Brazil! High End Atmosphere: Check Location can handle a stretch limo dropping us off in front(yes that’s how we roll): Check Fixed/General Expected Cost: Check Will tolerate loud/large groups: Check But would they be available? Am I that blessed? Yes. I called them right then and the woman who answered, no exaggeration, set me up in under 5 minutes. I’m talking no sass, no frustration, NODEPOSIT. The morning of I got a confirmation call. But at night we were running a little late. I called and with no hesitation the hostess said it would be fine if we were 30 minutes late. When we arrived everyone seemed genuinely excited to see our group, and welcome our Bride. We were seated(as I requested) towards the end by the wall so we could have privacy and be as loud as we wanted. Our server was so accommodating. He set us all up with separate checks and didn’t seem bothered when our group took a while to settle whenever he needed our attention. As for the food — they know what they’re doing. The meat selection is wonderful, the salad bar was more than enough for some of the ladies, and the drinks did the trick. I cannot recommend Texas de Brazil enough for a group dinner. It was one of the easiest events I’ve ever planned! Do it!

I went to Texas De Brazil on 3÷27÷16 for lunch with some friends. Before I begin, Texas De Brazil at the Fair Oaks Mall several times is one of my favorite restaurants. I try to find an excuse to go at least once a year. The DC location of Texas De Brazil is very similar. It felt like the dining room space might be a little larger. I thought at 1st the salad bar(my favorite part of a Brazilian steak house experience) was smaller than the salad bar at their Fair Oaks location. I came to realize it only felt smaller. The DC location salad bar portion is much more spread-out than their location at the Fair Oaks Mall. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. However, I would have like the waiter to tell us that dessert was free(lunch was the same price as dinner prices due to Easter). I might have partaken in had I know that. I also felt the like servers with the skewers of red meat were a little less than what I was used to. In a nutshell, Texas De Brazil is always a nice meal due to the plentiful options it offers but I think I enjoyed the service more at Fair Oaks Mall location.

I am so happy they opened a location in DC! Great staff, fantastic meats, and I am a huge fan of the coconut caipirinhas. We wasted little time/room on the salad bar. Gorged on the cheese balls and really pigged out on all different meat offerings. The high lights were the lamb, pork shank, and the house beef. All cooked excellently, seasoned well, and damn tasty. Not for the faint of heart or stomach. Come hungry and with a full wallet! Everyone is very friendly here so expect to come back!

The hostess is extremely rude and should not be the first representation of this establishment. She is both cold and curt. It appeared to be such a bother for her to 1) look up our reservation 2) inform us when our table was ready and 3) wait to present us with our menus. Her attitude needs a serious adjustment ASAP. Additionally, when she called our name to inform us our table was ready, she disappeared behind the bar and we stood there waiting, looking lost. The service here sucks. Our waitress took quite a bit of time coming to our table to greet us and explain the buffet, get drinks, etc… If you want a plate for your meat, be sure to grab one from the salad bar. You will sit with dirty plate on your table for a while before someone takes it away. Your drink will come long after you finish your salad course. Refills on water are difficult to come by and if you ask for anything additional, you will be told they will bring it right away and then it will never appear. The food was delicious. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. We had a taste of just about everything. The more expensive cuts of meat(filet) did not circulate around the room with as much frequency as other cuts(Flank steak, chicken). The salad bar left a lot to be desire. The food on the salad bar was all tasty, the selection was limited. There are many places to get good food. When you pay a certain price, you expect good service as well. We will not be back. Old country buffet and Golden Corral have better service. One last thing, the valet was no where to be found(behind the restaurant), we parked in a lot just next to the restaurant so not a big deal.

Honestly, this is my new favorite place to eat. My only suggestion for TDB is that they start serving the rack of lamb pieces. The food is sooooo amazing, the wait staff are funny & very personable. I have been here twice since January & we try to think of excuses to go back lol.

Texas de Brazil has fantastic food and salad bar with a menu right on par with Fogo de Chao. For those unfamiliar with the Churrascaria experience — you pay a flat fee for all you can eat, and are given a circle that you lay on the table with green meaning more food or red if you need a break. Servers walk around with slabs of meat(sirloin, bbq ribs, pork, steak, filet mignon, bacon wrapped chicken, parmesan chicken, etc, etc, etc,), and place them on your plate when you have green showing. The servers were very attentive, and were constantly circulating and checking to make sure people were getting the food that thy wanted. The manager visited each table to check-in and our waiter was also very on point checking in to make sure we were satisfied. The atmosphere was a bit more casual than Fogo, which we were perfectly fine with. They had a great cocktail and wine list. Inside was very open, which may have contributed to the more casual feel. They have an outdoor area as well, which we are looking forward to taking advantage of this spring. Overall, a great experience at a slightly cheaper price than Fogo($ 55 for Fogo, vs. $ 47 for TDB).

I’ve been here a couple times, and I have to say that the food is absolutely delicious. I have no complaints about the food. All of my issues with this place are with the service. The hostess, whomever she is, needs to be replaced immediately. She’s unfriendly and brusque regardless of what time of the day it is or how many people are in there. Getting your waiter to come over when you sit down may take some time. It’s easier to flag them over to ask for drinks and then help yourself to salad. If you sit and wait, like we did the first time, you’ll be sitting and waiting for a while. Also, after salad, it’s better if you go and grab your own new plate and make it obvious that you’re finished your salad so someone will come get it. If you leave the salad plate there and sit expectantly, it’ll be a while before they come get it. The gauchos are pretty responsive as far as coming around to you, but make sure you have the green cards prominently displayed otherwise they may skip by you. Overall I like the place, but the wait staff should be a little bit more tuned in to switching people from salad to main courses, bringing the side dishes, and getting drinks in a timely manner. And the hostess needs to go.

I’m hesitant to write reviews of places that seem too good to share, but I want this place to stay in business! I went here twice for lunch. THEREISNOPLACEBETTERTOGOFORBRUNCH. $ 25 for an amazing salad bar and all you can eat mouth watering meats. It’s borderline stealing. Salad bar highlights — manchego cheese, lobster bisque, wafer thin grilled pineapple. Meats — Lamb was off the chain, Sirloin, bacon wrapped chicken. Make sure you get the chimichuri sauce up at the salad bar. The gauchos(men who serve the meat) speak little to no English, although everyone is very nice. Don’t bring your fanciest clothes because they are cutting meat just over your shoulder…

We visited for restaurant week. We had never been to theme restaurant prior to restaurant week but heard it was pretty good. We have a reservation for 5:45p. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were seated within a couple minutes. The amount of food we received for the amount we paid was ridiculous. We started with a bottle of Syrah which was delicious. We then checked out the salad bar. There were soups, salads, sides, cheeses, and seafood. I enjoyed the shrimp and the grilled Parmesan. Then came the MEATS! There was beef, lamb, and chicken. The meats were served similar to other Brazilian spots, they bring the meat out on long skewers. They give you these little cards, flip green for meat and red for no meat when you want to take a break. My favorites were the lamb chops, bacon wrapped chicken, and flank steak. They also gave us sweet bananas as a pallet cleanser and garlic mashed potatoes on the table as a side. One your meal is over the being over the desert tray. Everything looks so decadent, though I thought the desserts were just decent. My only issue is we made reservations for 2, and called to add a couple more to our party but were told they were booked before they even asked us how many we wanted to add. When we got there and asked why we could add 2 more people to our table of 4(with 2 empty chairs) no one could give us an answer. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would definitely return.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Texas de Brazil last night as part of Restaurant Week. As an avid fan of Fogo de Chao, it was hard not to compare my experience here with that restaurant. In general the food was good, but the quality of the meat, the quality and selection of the salad bar, and the sides were just not as good as Fogo. In addition, I definitely agree with others about the wait staff at Texas. We spent a LOT of time waiting. Just waiting. Waiting for our water glasses to be refilled, waiting for a second drink(that never appeared), waiting for our sides, waiting for people to come. At one point, we looked around and realized that there was one server carving meat in the whole dining room. It may have just been bad timing, but it did not add for the good experience. It also took our waiter 20 minutes to give us our check and run the credit card. Phew! Though we knowingly paid less for RW, I would think the service would stay the same. The full price is only a margin less than Fogo, so I think if given the choice, we’d return to Fogo much sooner than this place.

For all the meat lovers that want endless meat with a variety of salads, and plenty of potatoes and rice then Texas De Brazil is a place for you. The concept is just like Fogo de Chao however the décor is a beautiful red with big accent pieces and fixtures. The restaurant is spacious and great for large parties or an outing with groups of friends. There is a separate private dining area perfect for special occasions. The staff was very friendly, attentive to our needs and accomodating to our request for different meat temperatures. Texas De Brazil is walking distance to Gallery Place and great from dinner before or after an evening of fun in the city. #formeatloversonly #aboutlastnight #wednesdaydatenightwiththemr #dcrestaurantweek2016 #texasdebrazil #fallynsfoodieexcursions

Great food, service and atmosphere. Good for small and big groups! I came here with my boyfriend for New Year’s Eve dinner. As soon as we flipped the card to the green side, the meat crew came and attack us with different kinds of meat. The meat was nicely cooked. The only one that I didn’t enjoy much was the filet mignon wrapped with bacon. It was too well done and dry. However, the chicken wrapped with bacon was really good, cooked just perfectly! The cocktails are yummy too! We got the traditional, strawberry, and coconut caipirinhas. They’re all very limey but the coconut one didn’t have much coconut flavor. For dessert, we got the papaya cream. It was quite refreshing after a heavy meal.

We had a family dinner here. It was like every other Brazilian steak houses, you help yourself from the buffet and meat will be served as you flip Your card to notify the waiters that you’re ready to be served some meat. I’m giving higher than usual review for this place because this was the first Brazilian steak house which didn’t try to force the cheap meat before letting me eat some good beef. I usually have bad experience in these type of places, but this was a good place maybe it had a lot to do with the fact that they are somewhat new. All Dessert drinks were worth trying!

came here last night for my husband’s birthday and we both left with a serious case of the meat sweats. im personally not a meat fan but decided to come here since i knew my husband would appreciate it, and i actually left satisfied as well! i was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meat. the servers come around introducing the meat and how it’s cooked and if you want a specific meat cooked a certain way(i.e. medium rare) they will bring it to you shortly after, which i thought was a nice service touch. the salad bar was a little underwhelming tbh but i guess you dont go there to eat salad so it might be a moot point lol just mentioning this because i know they have the ‘salad bar only’ option for 24.99 but not sure if it is worth it! the service was great and our waitress was very attentive and nice. overall, i think its an unique dining experience to try at least once whether you’re a meat lover or not! fyi — the dessert is not included in the price so do not be like me and go crazy ordering all the desserts lol woops.

Texas de Brazil is a semi-national chain of Brazilian Steakhouses, which just opened a location in DC a few months ago. Like any new restaurant in DC, there has been considerable hype. Predictably, upon my arrival on a weekend evening, it was packed. The location and the asthetics of the restaurant are definite pluses. Right on the footsteps of Chinatown(all two blocks of it) and mere feet from the highway, it’s an easy place to get to/from. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but valet parking exists. With a little patience, street parking exists within a few blocks radius. The lighting, glass doors, mirrors and chandeliers create a glitzy persona for the restaurant. The service is also very good. Our server was very engaging and accommodating. The gauchos are also polite and make their rounds regularly. Service as a whole tended to be very slow though. They also have a weird process of making customers get up and grab plates from the salad bar so that the table-side meat service can begin. Seems unnecessary, especially when there is waiter service at each table. The food itself was slightly above average. The salad bar looked nice, but was oddly limited. They had interesting options like Lobster Bisque, but were missing basic salad components like cucumbers, mushrooms, shredded cheese, etc. The meat items were definitely plentiful. Chicken, Beef Ribs, Top Sirloin, Lamb Chops, etc. Generally things tasted good. There was a range of different temperature options for the meats and all were well seasoned(there is a salt-less option as well). Some cuts of meat tasted overcooked and dried out. Fortunately, I only experienced that a couple of times. Surprisingly, the restaurant offers several dessert options. Cakes of different types including Chocolate, Key Lime, Cheesecake, etc. I went with the Carrot Cake. Moist and decadent, the best part was the generous layers of frosting. While I personally like my frosting to have enough sweetness to trigger a diabetic coma, this was on the tamer side with a slightly more assertiveness tangy flavor. Nonetheless, decent slice of cake. Sadly, there was something that kept occurring during my meal, which nearly derailed my appetite. Sitting in the window section, I had a clear view of the comings and goings on the street. There was one thing that kept coming and going on the sidewalk along the back of the restaurant/building…a RAT! I don’t know if it was different rats coming or going, or just one that was making round-trip deliveries, but needless to say, I had front row seats to his evening adventures. Now, I’m not saying a rat tap dancing around the restaurant means that the restaurant itself may have rodent issues internally. However, where there’s smoke… there’s…well…you know the rest. It’s doubtful I’d return. Separate from the real life version of Ratatouille playing out in front of me, I’d much rather go to Fogo de Chao, where the meats are little more consistent and the salad bar offers a more diverse selection.

I was telling my lovely date that I wish I had more self control at Brazilian Steakhouses and didn’t eat until I felt like Budda. That’s funny, because the space that is now Texas de Brazil used to be «The Budda Bar». Hmmm, what a coincidence. Lol Quite honestly it makes more sense to eat at these sort of establishments than your normal high end steakhouse because all of your food is included in your upfront price(except for desert) and you get to taste several different types of meat and enjoy an unlimited salad bar. No Ala Carte equals No Brainer, right? But the self control factor comes back into play. Smh I’ve been asked what’s the difference between this Texas de Brazil and Fogo De Chao. TDB is slightly less expensive but it’s so slight that’s it’s hardly noticeable. Fogo is more formal where TDB is definitely more funky. Give me funky! Super modern and who couldn’t use a lil more funk in their lives! All the meats were phenomenal and our server was on point. If we wanted more lamb chops. He would go find the lamb chop dude. Dope! The sangria was BANGIN! Nuff said about that! What I really loved was the entire menu was offered for the restaurant week price where Chima Brazilian Steakhouse left off items for their restaurant week price. they won me over instantly with that! Again, this Texas De Brazil is brand new, so the next time you feel like throwing your diet to the wind, do it in style and come here… You won’t feel nearly as bad! Lol

Well I’d have to say Fogo and Chima beat this place by far. I’m convinced the good reviews for here are from people that don’t regularly visit Brazilian steakhouses let alone real steakhouses. The valet is on I st for $ 10.00 behind the restaurant… which means unless the back door is open you can’t get in, you’re walking around the entire building/block to get to the front! Terrible set up. If you park yourself in the garage it’s $ 9.00. The valet guys were very nice and I used ValPark for the first time, and the valet guys were patient while I figured it out. There are ATMs around to get cash but more importantly they take CC.(ValPark charges an additional fee to use the service and doesn’t allow tipping through the app) Once you get to the back door after the walk from valet there’s a bit of a maze of mirrors, tables, and glass doors to find your way to the hostess stand. The waitstaff here over compensated. The hostesses did not stop smiling, to the point where it was disingenuous. The hostesses walk you to your seat and spread your napkin for you. They hand you the wine menu with an explanation. It was very rehearsed and like I said, disingenuous.(Blame lack of training) Looking around, you can see why people are at first impressed. The new space has very high ceilings and modern decorations, all glass, very minimalistic. The bar looked to be well stocked and had TVs. We arrived on a Tuesday night at 7 there were about 6 full tables out of 50ish! So it could be intimate on a weekday if you want it to be! It is very cold inside FYI, even my warm blooded boyfriend couldn’t get over how chilly it was. The restaurant crowd did not have your typical DC people. There were some sketchy people… Maybe they need a dress code or just raise the price! The price of a meal here is cheaper than Fogo De Chao and Chima. To really put it in perspective here your bill is only 20% of the bill at a real steakhouse(you get what you pay for). I walked around the salad bar once, observing what was there — a random waiter came up beside me and said«Just taking a walk?» Well– no if you insist on asking– I was looking for food and found none. When my boyfriend went to the bathroom a waitress came up to him to ask if he had questions about the menu. Not when he’s on his way to the bathroom? Like I said weird, lack of training in the service category. We were both disappointed and debated leaving. But I insisted we stay and that we wouldn’t return if they didn’t impress us by the end. We are very particular about service to be fair. But there were some clear missteps on their part– when the red card is turned down(to signify you don’t want food at this time) they come with meats, I didn’t even have a card(just doing salad bar) and they still offered me food. And when it came time to pay the check no one was around it was nuts. The salad bar at Tyson’s Corner Chima offers you baked salmon and grilled swordfish options as well as what’s on the salad bar, which is a nice touch for someone enjoying the salad option. Comparatively Texas De Brazil underwhelms. Their salad bar is sorely lacking. Their bacon was not fresh, way too chewy. The salad choices were dismal honestly. There was ice burg lettuce, spinach, then a shrimp salad to give you an idea. There was a cheese. There were tomatoes. I did like their smoked salmon, sautéed mushrooms, and creamed potatoes(but all of these things and more are found at better Brazilian steakhouses). It was just a random selection and sad. Chima and Fogo definitely beat Texas De Brazil salad bar. To top it all off when it came time for the Beef Rib, which never seems to fail as a favorite the waiter didn’t know how to carve meat!!! I can’t make this up. Most Brazilian steakhouses carve the meat with a great knife, horizontally, on a good serving platform, on a strong arm. This guy tried to slice the meat top to bottom, by sawing back and forth(way too close to my boyfriend’s head for comfort). I’m laughing just picturing it again. The plate swayed back and forth on his arm and it was really sad to watch. The slice we got was so pitiful, but we definitely weren’t asking for a bigger piece from him, the meat might just end up all over us. I could go on and on, terrible set up for the restrooms(I foresee many women accidentally going to the men’s room), a waiter asked me if I was done with my plate while I was in the middle of a bite with smoked salmon on the plate… Anyway. We’ll be returning to tried and true Chima in Tyson’s Corner when we need a Brazilian steakhouse fix.

I waited till I ate here twice before I reviewed them. They opened on June 10th so as you can imagine, people are expecting a lot. The first time we came it was a weekday evening. The second time we came here it was a Saturday night. Let me break it down for you… no I’m not about to rap or sing(if you really want me to, I may reconsider). Ambiance: beautiful décor. Honestly, they did a great job. Even the bathrooms are super nice with private door stalls(can’t see anyone s feet). Location: near China town, off of the busy busy Mass avenue NW between 5th and 4th. They have valet parking on I street NW right behind the main entrance. If you walk here, then you don’t care about driving issues but when MASS closes(which it does often lately due to construction) then you will care. There is plenty of free parking around the neighborhood. Food: they have decent sushi(one kind). I like that part. Salad bar is limited by the rest of the buffet has options. Rice, beans, potato gratin, mushrooms, lobster bisque, potato salad, full size grilled fresh jalapeños, tabbouleh, shrimp, caprese salad, and more. They bring to your table cheese bread, mashed potatoes and bananas. The meats: if you ask, they have beef ribs! Lamb chops, filet mignon, Parmesan chicken, sirloin and more. My favorite is the picanha(I might have spelled it wrong). Some of the meat is salty but I think that is personal preference. They can make it medium or well or whatever. Dessert: pecan pie is bad. Don’t get it. Bananas foster is great so get it. Papaya cream is decent. Cheesecake is decent. Flan is ok but I don’t like flan in general. Service: here is where it gets tricky. I would turn my card to green and they wouldn’t come. I would turn it to red and they would come offer me? Opposite land! The first time I came here, here was some of the negatives: they would pour water and it spilled everywhere. And no one cleaned it. They wouldn’t pick up the plates when I went up to get more food. The buffet was mislabeled. Second time I came: they improved the water pouring issues and the buffet was properly labeled. The service did not improve. I was pretty upset because it was Saturday night and we were a party of seven. When three different people are waiting for their plates to be taken before they put down their new plate, then you have an issue. The people who work there like to stand around a lot near the bar and talk to each other or the men in the suits. You would think they had too much time on their hands? No, they just were too relaxed. That annoyed me. Here is another important note: when we came the first time, they gave us a card to fill out to give feedback. We filled it out and wrote everything that I just mentioned. So, I gave them ample time and opportunity to fix their issue before I reviewed them. They haven’t even been opened a month and they seem way way too confident with their skills. Hey TDB, step it up. Quickly. People will catch on. Maybe the restaurant thinks that if people are too full, drunk, and comatose from the food, then they won’t notice that the service needs improvement. Would I return: maybe Was it clean: absolutely Does it need improvement: yes What needs improvement: the service Do I recommend you go: yes but on a weekday when you can get $ 25 off two they 7÷31÷15 Are there vegetarian options: TOns but make sure they don’t charge you full price! Are there kosher options: I would not say it’s kosher but you can definitely find lots of NON pork options Are the hours limited: yes! No lunch hours Have I gained weight since I’ve eaten here in twice in one month: that is confidential Have I considered becoming a vegetarian after eating here: it definitely crossed my mind as I sat there comatose from the meat Have I increased your knowledge about this place: you tell me Is this an effective method to review: you tell me! They would have gotten four stars except they lost a star because of the service. Step it up TDB!
