They have a gorgeous patio(although it’s always packed). Brunch is AMAZING. I had eggs benedict w/duck and my date had the french toast and we both felt it was the best of that type of dish we had ever had. Plus $ 10 unlimited mimosas is a good deal in DC! 4 stars because service could be better(both at brunch and at night) — not the servers fault, though. They seem perpetually understaffed.

How could anyone not enjoy 2 for 1 drinks for happy hour and at four hours it is much longer than the average DC happy hour. No matter what you order, you get a second drink of equal or less value. This might not be the best for the less responsible but for any reasonable mind this is a deal that cannot be beat. Inside is two levels but isn’t very big but the huge outdoor patio more than make-up for the smaller inside. Bathrooms are single person and were clean during my visit. I didn’t get to spend much time outside but sat at the main bar on the first level. Bar is nice with two TVs above the bar for viewing, Also several tables in the main bar area if your group is larger. Service was good, bartender was friendly and always kept his eye out for when the glass was getting low and a refill was needed. Table runners and wait staff were also quick and efficient. Food was decent, I had a pork belly sandwich and fries, pork belly was cooked well and nice flavor with a decent amount of fat and salt mixture. Fries were decent, nice flavor but not to the standard I usually enjoy. The 2 for 1 only is enough to keep me coming back but the service and decent food items are the icing on the cake.

DC Reynolds is a fantastic happy hour spot. It also has an incredible patio. They have a descent beer selection and even have a few cocktails on tap. All these things put together make it a great place to grab an after work beer. Customer service here however is not a priority. During out last brunch visit here, our group of ~7 all ordered at the same time, yet received beverages in four rounds over 10 minutes. Despite having an exceptionally limited brunch menu(served exclusively) they refused to make any modifications to menu items… Including adding chicken to a salad, or even providing our table with a side of chicken. I respect the chef wishing to Maintain the integrity of his dishes however when all of you non-vegetarian items contain red meat or pork, you have to be willing to budge…

Ate brunch here for Mother’s Day, and while it may not be the most traditional venue, it worked for our quirky household. We waited outside with assorted hipsters and their dogs, putting the pet back into Petworth! The doors opened at 11 am and we were lead to the very pleasant patio. I liked the non splintery sturdy plastic tables, and the bar and umbrellas gave things an almost seaside air. My first glimpse at the menu was not promising as everything seemed very heavily egg based(and I am not a huge egg fan). I decided to go with the breakfast sandwich, which included ham with cherry jam. I was a bit dubious but they completely won me over! The pork was better than average Canadian bacon though it served the same firm function. The eggs were not as I like them(there was white showing) but the combination of flavors made up for that and the whole thing was delicious. I am also not crazy about cottage fries, but these were really good(they tasted a little like they had been fried in oil that had also been used for fish, but I didn’t mind that, it even kind of enhanced them in a weird way.) I also ordered a side of bacon in case the sandwich was disappointing, and it was perfectly cooked. The colonel had the salmon BLT and was extremely happy. Larkus had the eggs Benedict with I think pulled pork and was quite happy. The Sprossling had most of my cottage fries, and a giant serving of fried French toast, which he could only eat half of, and the next day took the remainder to school. He declared it delicious and seemed to like it even better the next day. Larkus goes to DC Reynolds often for dinner on his way home from the airport. This was a great reminder for brunching!

Tried to give the place another chance for a late(after 8pm) drink to wind down after a long day. We sat outside near the back and after 10mins we ended up going to the bar to order because the outside waitress would come out to all the other tables, check on meals, ask if they needed anything but would never engage with us. We weren’t offered menus, weren’t asked if we wanted to order — we just sat there watching her service all the other tables outside but ours. Not sure what is going on with the wait staff but they need serious lessons on customer service.

Only one visit so far… but a successful one! You truly can’t beat 2-for-1 drinks until 9!!! The space is a little small, but the décor is charming and the bartenders are fast, friendly and attentive.

My husband and I were in DC for the weekend visiting and this was right across the street from where we were staying. Total dive bar vibe, which we both love. We were the only people sitting inside at the bar as they have a great outdoor patio with a second bar outside and most people were outside enjoying the beautiful weather that day. The food was so great. I ordered the pork belly sandwich and my husband has the brisket sandwich. We both had the intention to give each other the other half of our sandwich but we both loved ours so much we didn’t even end up switching. The fries were really great as well! Not to mention the bar tender was super friendly, and we enjoyed chatting with him. We even happened to catch them on trivia night and had a great time doing that. Also, I hear they do BOGO drinks on Mon-Fri so thats pretty badass!

This is a review of brunch. I’ve never been to DCR at night, so can’t comment on the bar aspect, or the outdoor area. Went with some friends for Sunday brunch. Place was mostly empty, waitress was clearly in a bad mood(brusque, unsmiling). Five people at the table, but took 30 minutes before they brought more than two waters. Had the salmon and eggs scramble, which was so unbelievably salty that if I hadn’t been starving I wouldn’t have eaten it. Everything else was unremarkable. With all the places to go for brunch in DC, mostly in the same price range, I can’t imagine going back here.

There’s a reason why this place is voted DC’s 2nd best happy hour. Had the pleasure of experiencing it this week after a snow day off and went with some friends to enjoy their 2 for 1 special. Yeah as in buy one drink get one free. As in tread lightly if you come here on a weeknight! Split an order of the crispy fried pork belly sandwich — which comes with Berkshire porkbelly, ancho chile aioli and jalepeño slaw. To be honest though, it sounds much better than it tastes. Still good though, just not as savory as I would’ve hoped. In regards to drinks I stuck with the duck rabbit milk stout(get this, just trust me on this one). Have been here on a regular night out before, but I’d only recommend it on warmer nights as the bar in itself is very tiny but have a huge patio to accommodate as well. All in all an excellent happy hour spot. Highly recommend!

I went here a couple of times on the advice of one of my hip friends. The last time I was here was last Spring and it was for a friend’s birthday. It just looks like an ordinary bar from the front, but they do have a nice outdoor backyward. The party of 10 – 15 occupied a good chuck of the space, but the staff were accommodating. I had a good time here although I like boundary stone better.

Awesome happy hour spot. BOGO. Great outdoor area in the summer. Even when it got busy the waitress was still attentive. I haven’t tried the food yet so I will be back!

I sat on the back patio for brunch when it was warmer-obviously with what’s going on outside it’s impossible to utilize it. I got their biscuits and gravy which was great. I’m always left a little unsatisfied with B&G because I always like eggs as part of my complete breakfast and while I’m usually full I’m not quite sated. I feel like DC Reynolds must have a guy like me as their chef because right in the mini cast iron were two eggs. Heaven PLUS a nice savory cheese biscuit with a spiced gravy thick with sausage. In addition the biscuits and fig jam, well the fig jam was good, not to say the biscuits were bad, they were the same as what was in the gravy. I think that might have been the issue, the cheese was pretty strong and didn’t mix well with the fig jam, which was done well-not too sweet but just didn’t vibe together.

One of my favorite places DC has to offer. Best happy hot in the city if I say. Buy one, get one deal offered 5−9pm Monday thru Saturday. Bottomless mimosas for 10 bucks, and awesome patio in the summers, cool«living room» area located when you come inside, & a menu that is constantly changing to keep you guessing! They have an awesome alcoholic root beer float you’ve gotta try if your ever in town too!

Love their huge outdoor patio and their happy hour that’s every night except Sundays. Until 9pm, there’s BOGO drinks on their whole menu, which is a ridiculously good deal. The inside bar always smells a little musty though, so I pretty much only come when it’s nice enough to sit outside. The food is decent to very good. I recently had their pork belly with peach salad and they gave me a huge slab of pork belly that had the fat nicely rendered. I also love their grilled corn — perfectly charred, smoky and buttery. This is a great place to bring your dog or come if you just love dogs like me. The patio is dog friendly but you have to come in through the back fence door. The patio server loves dogs and there’s a water dish out back for them. It definitely gets crowded during happy hour or any nice day outside, so if you want to grab a picnic table with a group larger than 4, try to come before 5:30. People are usually friendly and nice about sharing the picnic tables though if you have a smaller group. Service can be slow because it seems like there’s only one person serving the whole patio! Patience, grasshoppers, and tip your server.

Best Happy Hour in DC! I’ve held off on reviewing this place because there isn’t really anything I can say that hasn’t already been said. As others have pointed out, they have a great selection of reasonably priced drinks. This is made all the more amazing by the fact that they offer 2-for-1 on those drinks during happy hour, from 5pm through 9 pm. I still have no idea how they’re able to do that in this city. While other places are scheduling hh to end right after you order your first drink, this place keeps it going well into the night. The interior space is a little cramped, but the back patio area is huge; it’s where you want to sit when the weather is cooperating. And the food is actually pretty good, way better than you might expect when walking into this semi-divey establishment. This must be an awesome place to work because I see the exact same bartenders and server every time I come. It’s like they have zero turnover. Being walking distance from this awesome spot is easily the best part of living in Petworth.

As usual, with most of the Columbia heights bars, I tend to forget about this place, which is truly only to my detriment. Every time I come here I’m impressed with the ambiance, service, deals, food and the whole place to be honest. While I’m not sure what this spot is like when it’s not nice weather, I do know that when it is nice out, there isn’t a better spot in the city for drinks and dinner with friends. The food here is good– down home, southern American classics done well, but not amazing. And the drinks are good and buy one get one free. More than that, the backyard here is beautiful, with a bar, tvs for sports viewing, a private patio for private parties, twinkle lights to make the night even prettier, benches at picnic tables for that laid back, community feel.

BOGO drinks during a reasonably long happy hour, so don’t lose your chit. The building’s super small and heats up quick in warm weather, so the majority of available space is in the outside bar, where ashtrays at most picnic tables welcome more smokers than I prefer to deal with; on the upside you meet some friendly neighborhood dogs. Enough umbrella shade, water to self-pour at the bar, and even a telly. D-Cro Old Fashioned was a little off-balance, but poured potent. Whiskey Way Float was refreshing and not too sweet. Respectable beer list on tap and bottled. We opted for the pheasant on special, which was portioned generously and seasoned perfectly. They nailed the cook on the bird with moist meat and crisped skin, and the dish included a mix of morels and trumpet mushrooms in a conservative Asian-inspired sauce. The bed of pasta was al dente and garnished with chives, though a bit messy to eat with the robust-sized fork. Specials start Wednesdays and are sometimes out by the weekend. Service was piss-poor from one person, but she was new and the other guy was great. Lots of street parking in the area, but it’s only a block and change from the Petworth Metro station. Future hit list: slow roasted pork belly, grilled atlantic scallops, sauteed oyster mushrooms, corned beef sandwich.

Well, when I first walked in, I wasn’t all that impressed, but one step into the back patio area, and I immediately saw why this place is so popular. The outdoor area is lit up with beautiful lights, there is bench style seating, and a large bar. Also, you can’t beat their Happy Hour special — two for one! And the prices are not inflated. Very impressed with the ambiance, food, and drinks. I will definitely be back to try it out again! Word of caution, it does get extremely crowded on Friday’s during happy hour, so be prepared to stand around the bar as seating is limited.

My friend and I headed into DC Reynolds for brunch last Saturday around 1pm. You head into a very dark divey bar, but out back, they have a nice outdoor patio. We were able to seat ourselves at a table right away. Their brunch menu doesn’t have that many options, and I ended up going with the artichoke sandwich, which was served with hash browns. My sandwich was just okay. It had a little bit of flavor provided by the goat cheese, but the filling was lacking, so it wasn’t very substantial. I tried a bite of my friends smoked ham eggs benedict, and that seemed like the way to go. it was a decent place for brunch, but as more people arrived, the service seemed slow. There was only one server for several tables, and it seemed like she could have used some help.

Okay, let’s talk about how gooOod the happy hour is here? I paid $ 8.80 for two ciders since they’re happy hour deal is BOGO. Amaaaazing! Not to mention, this is when Wisconsin beat Kentucky in the Final Four so the night was pretty great. I should say that it’s not a sports bar but more divey. Yet BOGO before 9pm Mondays through Saturdays? Oh hails ya.
