The Pitch Tavern is a fantastic place to chill, watch sporting events and enjoy happy hour cocktails. Shabba, Dave and Chef Rashad are doing a great job with running the place as well as cranking out an assortment of delicious food! Their cheeseburger by far is the best hand made burger in town. The Pitch Tavern is doing it right in Petworth!

The Pitch has a super modern, clean feel and is a solid place to come and watch a variety of sports while having a drink. They’ve got several tvs set up throughout the bars two levels and seem pretty amicable to putting on everything from the NFL playoffs to obscure soccer matches. If you’re looking for that homey, dark wood dive bar sort of thing, you won’t find it here. Everything is bright, lots of metallic fixtures, and a younger/more urbane crowd compared to your average, local hole in the wall. The atmosphere is a little too generic sportsplex feeling for me to be a regular here, but given the high level of service I’m sure I’ll be back for the occasional game and drink. It was deserted when we went in last Sunday, perhaps because of the dreary weather, so we nearly had the place to ourselves. There were a couple quality local/craft beers available on draft, as well as the run of the mill stuff in cans/bottles. Bar staff was incredibly friendly and treated us very well even though we were only in for a single drink and a quick catch up on the football game. It was too cold to enjoy their patio, but that could be a real bonus draw come warmer weather.

Food was amazing. I had chicken and waffles. Other items at our table that received great reviews: shrimp and grits, breakfast tacos, and crab latke. Bottomless mimosas…

Went here to watch the Redskins and Eagles game. Small but a comfy place with an impressive selection of spirits including my favorite the Macallan. Food menu may be small for a bar but everything on the menu is delicious .

This place is a hidden gem for watching sports. They have tons of TVs, including a big projection screen on the second floor, delish(delish!) burgers and other bar food, and decent prices for drinks. I recommend the pitch punch.

I am so impressed with this neighborhood gem. I’ve been here several times for happy hour and a few parties — all have been amazing. Today, I came for brunch, and it was amazing. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the brunch burger. Both were delectable. The mimosas were overflowing, and the service was outstanding! I’m so proud of this black-owned establishment. Thank you for blessing all the Uptowners. Chef Reshad, you’re the best! Thank you!

Nice neighborhood bar. They’ve done a good job with the space they have. I’m going to a private event on the top floor. I’d definitely come back to watch a game or two. HD televisions, situated just right. They use glassware… not sure why this stood out to me. Many local bars use plastic cups or mismatched ass cups… and I go to a lot of places. Friendly atmosphere… I guess I would judge a place if their clientele were snotty hahahaha. My drink is strong. I also got the mango habanero wings off the strength of another Unilocaler. I only got 6. If I ordered a dozen I would have been able to try another flavor. Next time.

First timer — saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to give these guys a try! Extremely surprised by the great service, good food, and so many TV’s that you’ll never miss a game. My Mom and I sat upstairs and ordered the jerk chicken wings. The wings were hot and tender, the margarita(although made with Rose’s Lime) was surprisingly delicious, Monique was our server! Even though the place was packed she still took care of us! Mom said this is her new Sunday football joint. I said. So glad I can still make you happy!!!

I’m writing this review as I sit at their bar. I came in for the Sunday night game. The waitress gave us a food menu when we came in. Five minutes later, she informed is that the only thing we could order were wings and fries… okay. The wings were decent, hence one star. The bartender was friendly enough but asked strange things like«Do you want Coke or Sprite in your Long Island?» and«Do you want ginger ale or ginger beer in your Jim Beam?» But her pours were decent so… fine…another star. However, I will never return for the following reason: We came here because it was described as a sports bar. Despite that designation, last call was announced halfway through the third quarter and the bartender left at the beginning of the fourth. The manager on duty has turned off all of the televisions, with the exception of the one we’re watching, and has done everything possible to let us know he is ready for us to leave. Now I get it, we’re the only customers here. But we are PAYING customers who came to your establishment to watch the entire game. It would be great to be able to do so without feeling like we are inconveniencing someone. I’ll be happy to take my business elsewhere in the future. **Update** As we left, the manager did not utter a single word of thanks or appreciation for our patronage. I’m relatively certain that any positive reviews of this place are fabricated and planted by friends of the owner/employees.

The Pitch has slowly but surely become my Cheers. I have never had a time where I have come and not felt like I was being welcomed by family. Great drinks and great food. What could be better than that? Let me tell you. An addition of a brunch menu! I went Sunday and was over the top pleased. The shrimp and grits are phenomenal and my bottomless mimosa stayed filled to the brim. I have visions of many a Sunday filled with bottomless mimosas and hours of football. Can’t wait!

This place is great — VERY different from the other petworth hot spots(looking glass, citizen) but in a good way. I have been here twice now, and both times the food was delicious — turkey burger and then Turkey club. My boyfriends food was also perfect both times. The service is relaxed, so to some may seem slow, but they are the nicest people. The ambiance is not what you expect looking from the outside, but this is also awesome. It’s modern, clean and cool with a rooftop. Plus sports. What’s not to love? Can’t wait to visit on a weekday after work to post up at the bar.

Been here twice and I’ve had good experiences both times. It’s mostly empty but that’s because there isn’t a niche for such a modern sports bar around the petworth area. Some prefer the divy experience of petworth citizen, DC Reynolds, looking glass, 11th Street areas. Drinks are average priced outside of happy hour so it’s a little more expensive than those previous spots. I’ve had the bbq chicken and their burger. Chicken was very sweet and juicy with a little heat and burger was cooked a little over what I wanted it to be BUT the fries were what took the cake. Well seasoned fries are what I love so I’m a huge fan. Space is really modern for a sports bar with multiple tvs. Couch on the second floor bar areas. Service is a little slow for it being pretty empty but everyone is very nice. Would recommend if you’re around the north side of Georgia Ave.

Watched a women’s World Cup game here and if was packed. The service was pretty good given how crowded they were. I think I remember the food being good. It’s definitely worth trying again!

This review is based on one visit shortly after it opened so I’m sure the restaurant has improved since then. I went with a coworker after work since we work a block away. The patio is lovely and it has a great view of petworth. Our waitress seemed new and didn’t seem to know quite what she was doing. She told us that happy hour was just for domestic beers and some sort of shot, but when we were leaving we found out from the bartender that it’s for cocktails too. Next time I’ll try one of those because they looked awesome. Tip: he makes special ones not on the menu daily so ask for that! Price was decent but not as good as some other happy hours in the area. Nobody was really there but again, the place was super new. We also had the wings with mango habenero sauce which were awesome! They have lots of sauces but that one is a winner. Happy hour also includes a deal on wings. I tried to go back yesterday for happy hour but there was a sign saying that the pitch is temporarily closed, which is unfortunate and kind of sketchy.

Want to enjoy the game in a cool environment? The Pitch is the place to go in Petworth. This spot has two levels. The first is a pretty basic bar area, it has a couple of tables, a decent bar, and a television or two. I’ve only seen it from the outside, as I always make my way to the second level. The second level offers a more upscale experience; televisions everywhere, a variety of seating options, a nicer bar, and entry to the rooftop deck. There really are no bad seats for enjoying whatever game happens to be on. The menu mostly consists of typical sports bar offerings, with a few non-traditional items tossed in. I generally get the wings, which are bigger and more meaty than any others I’ve had in the area. The mambo-flavored are particularly good. The Greek salad and chicken tacos are also decent. The beer selection is lacking; plenty of domestics and name-brand imports, but nothing here that you won’t find at the 7 – 11 across the street. As other commenters have noted, the service is not great. I’m always left with the impression that the server has just started working, they seem to know little about the menu and pricing. For example, the last time I visited I asked if I could split my dozen wings order– 6 mambo/6 jerk. At first he said he didn’t know, then he said I could, but when I got the check I was charged extra. The prices are a little high, but I assume they’re charging for the experience as much as the food itself. And they are among the minority of restaurants that charge for soft-drink refills. Given the insanely high mark-up on soft drinks, and the fact that consumers have been trained to expect free refills, I don’t understand why any restaurant would charge extra for them. What really sets this place apart is the personal touch. The staff is super friendly and super earnest. How upset can you be with someone who’s trying their best to make your experience great. And the owner is really friendly. Is he there every night or just when I show up? Either way, he greets everyone with a smile and a few kind words, and visits every table, making himself available. That really goes a long way. Despite its flaws, which I assume will lessen with time and training, The Pitch is a pretty nice addition to the neighborhood. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is personable, and the food is far superior to most sports bars. I look forward to enjoying the playoffs here in the coming months.

Fish tacos, fries, and wings. They were all very tasty, but the price is a tad high! $ 13 for 12 wings? That’s pretty much $ 8-$ 9 everywhere else I go in DC. The fish tacos were $ 11, which would be a fair price if it came with a side. We sat outside and enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to spending more time here this spring and summer.

Great environment! Good menu! Okay server! Our server had little knowledge on the happy hour menu. On our way out, we found out that there were mixed drinks on happy hour but the server only informed us of the bottled beer and apple something shot. Next time, it seems like we should sit at the bar as the bartender seemed to be knowledgeable and friendlier.

Really cool spot! Has a great upstairs outdoor patio perfect for the springtime. I love that it’s brand new, plays fun music and has a classy while chill vibe. Upstairs has a bunch of TVs, so I’ll come back for March Madness basketball games. Staff was friendly and genuinely seemed to like each other and the place– a good sign for good management and quality service. I look forward to when more people discover it. I had rice and beans, hummus and drinks. Look forward to trying the Buddha-bottle beer and some salads next time. A block or so from Petworth metro!

I went here a few nights ago. I was definitely impressed by the décor across the two levels: slick glass, some modern touches, and brick. The employees I interacted with were extremely welcoming and friendly. Booze wise, although the price of a glass of wine was very right($ 6), the quality was lacking. The cabernet was fairly undrinkable, yet the pinot grigio was fine… I also had the calamari, which was excellent, and the fish tropics tacos, which was something I could have whipped up at home. This is obviously bar food, nothing to be ashamed of though. I’m not a sports nut, but I’ll be back for happy hour. Five stars if they improved the food quality.

Petworth was in dire need of a sports bar, and The Pitch has come to the rescue. We came to watch an NFL division playoff game, and the place is lovely, clean and well-lit without being upscale. The owner was friendly and checked in on customers, and the staff was attentive save for a few opening weekend hiccups that happen everywhere. Plenty of TVs and a pretty good beer selection. Try the mango habanero wings, which are delicious. I want to give it 4 stars but the food and drinks are too expensive. $ 7 for a Bud Light? $ 25 for a pub entrée? A neighborhood sports bar should be cheaper especially considering that the drinking holes closest to this location are just as expensive and The Pitch could likely take some of their business if they lowered the prices.
