Courage Performance offers a training program unlike any other. It is designed to help you move better, perform better, function better, and LIVE better. Courage Performance is many things — it is progression: learning to do all movements correctly so that you can lift more, move faster, endure longer, jump higher, live longer, recover faster, and prevent injures. It is TRUE fitness, the way the human body was designed. It is function and fun amongst friends and family.
Courage Performance has over ten years of experience helping people of every background, age, and fitness level learn how to achieve their true potential. We have built a community that reaches across the country that is committed to the best training, the best programming, and the best coaching.
Be part of something fun. Be part of something groundbreaking. Be part of something that will change your life for the better, for the rest of your life. Our community and our program is here, ready to change your life.
History
Established in 2005.
After his professional baseball career ended, Josh Courage worked as a personal trainer in DC. By training different people of many different fitness levels, he developed a framework for how best to help them achieve their goals: teach them how to move better. Courage Performance is the natural product of that simple credo. We welcome the opportunity to work with anyone who wants to improve themselves — from children and adults to high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. The company has grown since it was founded in 2005, and we now have two locations — one in Washington, D.C. and one in San Mateo, CA – but our collective focus remains the same. We want to give people the tools they need to improve their lives through fitness.

Andrew W.
Manager
Coach Whitey is DC born and DC bred. He started training with Courage Performance as a baseball/basketball player at Wilson High School looking to improve his game. He trained with CP throughout high school and college while playing baseball at Princeton University, and upon graduation began working for CP full-time. Coach Whitey has acquired a love for the gym and the barbell that have come to rival his lifelong passion for playing sports. He has a competitive nature and a wide range of interests outside the weight room. More than anything, he relishes the opportunity that Courage Performance has given him to help people improve their lives and accomplish their goals.
