Cosmo Nail Bar

When I go, I always ask if they have time for whatever service I want, and they always say yes. However, the wait time always varies.
Last time (and my last time I will ever go there) I was told to pick out a polish and sit down to wait. After five minutes I was taken to a pedi chair. The water was lukewarm, bordering on cold. I waited 45 minutes before I finally asked for a towel and left. When the other technician brought the towel, the owner/​manager told me that someone was «almost finished» and could attend me then. «Almost finished»? Not even, she’s coming right now? It’s like asking me to wait just a bit longer. As I left I saw many women who showed up after me. What a waste of time. If the owner initially told me that they couldn’t take walk ins b/​c they were too busy and to come back in an hour or on another day, I would have done that. Now I will not go there again.

Consistently have a good experience at this salon. Always do a great job, good prices and the staff is so sweet and patient, not to mention know what they’re doing! Yoyo is FANTASTIC and did a great job on my gel manicure (and its lasted almost one month with no peeling or chipping) Just moved out of the city and will miss this place like crazy!

Went to Cosmos yesterday for a much needed manicure/​pedicure. Upon arrival I was greeted by YoYo who nice and attentive. My appointment was at 2:30. She wasn’t quite ready. So I soaked and waited about 10 min. Needless to say I loved my nail tech. She was very meticulous and thorough. I will be going back!!!

We walked in to this place without an appointment and asked for 2 pedicures. We were told to pick a color and sign in, which we did. We waited for 30 minutes, no time update, before being taken to our chairs. No offer for water/​drink at all. We sat in chairs for 20 more minutes with no one giving us a update on time. It’s perfectly understandable and appropriate to honor those with reservations first, but be courteous to customers and give them a realistic picture of their ability to be served
After 1 hour of waiting (with no time update, drink) we left, unable to give more time to this salon. We walked past multiple groups of new patrons who had come in after we had, all receiving salon services. Please be more honest and communicative to your patrons. Unfortunately we won’t return

Cosmo has absolutely become my go-​to nail salon; the best in the area! The place is well decorated and very clean. The staff is friendly and spend a LOT of time with you. They do a thorough job with cuticles and callouses and have a great selection of colors. I’ve tried a lot of places in DC and I keep coming back here because of their quality. Plus, the price is very reasonable, especially if you go early in the week. A top quality pedicure for $ 26 can’t be beat!

I’ve been to Cosmo Nail Bar about 8 times. It’s my go-​to place. Tori and Molly are wonderful. I always get compliments on nails and they have so so many colors to choose from. I suggest making an appointment if you go after work. There’s an early bird special if you go before 2pm Mon-​Friday.

I’ve been searching for a high quality and luxury salon for a while. Either I find one that’s high quality but it’s not luxurious or vice versus. Everyone here was nice and friendly. I walked in one evening after work and was seated less than five minutes. I think the quality of work really depends on your manicurist.
While mine was nice, she didn’t do a good job. My cuticles weren’t cut properly and three of my nails chipped two days after getting them done. I went back a week later to get them fixed and Tori helped me. She was so sweet and did a great job. I wish I went to her first!

Immediately you notice that this place is nicer than most nail salons. The staff were friendly as I first walked in. The set up is nice, clean and new. The technician I had used rubbing alcohol as she trimmed for added hygiene while she works which I thought was great. Not quite sure why some in DC wear gloves and some don’t, but anyway out of all the places in DC this one is at the top end. The price was good. All around I would recommend coming here over other places, especially over Patsy’s Nail Bar which I can’t understand why it has a good rating on Unilocal.
I like places that don’t try to do little insignificant things like offer me some drink. Cosmo seems to be focused more on doing a good job with the service you came for and not about the little silly things like offering mimosas and silly snacks.

This place was fabulous! I went in for a gel manicure my nails are he best they’ve ever looked. Melanie was my manicurist and I 100% recommend her. My gel mani te was $ 27.00 and included an hour long, Meticulous manicure with paraffin wax. $ 27.00 is a special M-​W and is cash only. You can pay with credit card but it it $ 1 more. They also put gloves on your hands to protect from the UV. I did notice that they use basin inserts in their pedicure tubs to keep a sanitary basin. I definitely recommend this place!

I have been in a long search for a quality nail shop in DC. I have even driven out to deep parts of Virginia because I didn’t think there was no luck in DC. Then one day I stumbled on Cosmo and I have been hooked since.
They are polite, efficient, and do a great job. I came in one day with an hour before I had to be at a meeting and they had two people working on me to get me out on time. I even had to come in because I mistakenly put on sneakers too fast in a rush to get a workout and messed up my toes. They took care of me without any hesitation.
Come during the day or weekdays if you are looking for a discount on pricing, teachers get a discount every other Tuesday as well I believe. Just a great establishment altogether.

This had been my new go to place for nail treatment but I am happy to say I am now a regular. They have such affordable prices and they have great deals going on alllll the time. The fact that they serve their clients Champagne, Wine, Sangria, Tea, and Coffee is a plus, they also have cookies. The ladies there do their every best to make the customer feel comfortable and relaxed, I love them! I always leave very happy and can’t wait to come back again! Please check them out if you haven’t!

I loved this place… until I got an infection after my last visit here. Yes, I got a disgusting toe infection after getting a pedicure here. I ended up having to go to the doctor and getting antibiotics. I saw them use a fresh pack of supplies, so that leads me to believe that they do not clean the foot baths properly and/​or thoroughly.

But I only went when I wanted to treat m self! This place is awesome! affordable and the people are nice! Yoyo took care of me I wish I could put a picture of my nails but im Using my PC! Anyways! They look great!!! She helped me choose between colors and spoke to me like we have known each other for years! LOVE THIS PLACE!!! So nice and pretty inside too: D

May i start by saying I love how clean is this place!
I went in for a pedi with YOYO and I looooved it!!!
She was so detailed to everything from cuticle trimming to getting my ingrowns out. She was polite and friendly the entire time kept conversation with Me and advice me different ways and products to take care of my dead skin. I loved her work it’s top quality and so is MOLLY’s you can’t go wrong by going here and having one of them take care of your nails or wax service.
They’re defenately better than enchanted or joy spa up the street and much cleaner. They offer to choose from about 5 different organic scrubs and on top of that you get FREE callus remover with your pedi can’t get better than that if you ask me and best of all they give you your file and buffer if you want to take it home with u how great and sanitary is that!
Value your money and put it to good use at cosmo! you won’t regret it! And of you’re into fun nail art YOYO won’t disappoint you!

So I get off in time from work to make it to what I think is the happy hour at the Cosmo Nail shop in Adams Morgan. I’ve been to this place before and had a great experience. I have a story for you this second time.
I am headed to the nail shop and I look online before I get there and see that you can get a Gel Manicure & Pedicure for $ 50. I want you all to read that statement one more time for me and tell me what you guys read.
So anyway they are really nice throughout the process and now it’s time to pay. They say oh, the pedicure is $ 45 and the manicure is $ 26. I say, oh no it’s not. The website says it’s a Gel Manicure and Pedicure for $ 50. Instead of them giving great customer service, the manager argues me down. I tell her all I’m willing to pay is $ 50 because that is what is on the website. Next, is what took me over the edge. She threatens to call the police and you know what I tell her, please do!
She calls and I listen in to what she’s saying. I don’t have time for lies and I’m also still in shock that me as a paying customer showed the website and she says oh that’s for a regular pedicure. Not on any line of the website does it say with that combo is a regular manicure.
I sit and wait for about 20 minutes for the police to get there. She then goes and finds some paper, not the website and shows the prices I was never shown nor never read. I kind of go back and forth with her and then I tell the police officer to please look at the website.
He looks at the site and see’s what I see. He talks to the manager privately and during this time ANOTHER officer shows up. I’m furious but I’m also keeping my composure. These situations require a black woman to keep her composure because things could have went left quickly. I was beyond angry.
The manager keeps going on and on about how it doesn’t say «and gel manicure» but did it say «and regular manicure»? No it did not!
The other cop hears the story and the cops both side with me after about 45 minutes. They say she saw $ 50 so she can pay that. Once I pay for it the manager is still being rude to me. I said we all could have been done with this an hour ago. I pay and leave.
I just want to say I have never been to an establishment that does not make a customer happy. This shop is new and in Adams Morgan where a lot of Caucasians live. I guess the Asians thought because I’m black that I don’t know my rights and that I don’t know what I saw. I felt really insulted and I hope that anyone that is black does not support this business in any way. This is not how you treat your customers.

This is a lovely new nail salon. I’ve been there 3 times, got a gel manicure and regular pedi each time. Each time the gel manicure lasted for longer than 2 weeks with not a single chip. The experience is great too; sparkling clean environment, lots of colors to choose from (and a lot of perfect matches across gel and regular polish), strong masage chairs. Little touches like a slice of lime in your manicure soak and the free paraffin bath for your hands make the place even more special.
It is a little more expensive than competitors in the area ($ 30 for gel manicure, as opposed to $ 25 all others charge), but I think the quality makes it worthwhile. Also your experience can vary a bit based on the technician you get. Michelle is very diligent!
And these ladies know how to make a mean sangria, which is just icing on the cake!

I was really excited to check this place out! Unfortunately I left disappointed. I went for a pedi and gel mani. Things started off just fine in the pedi chair, but as soon as I started to relax with my drink, the mani lady comes over with her gel machine. How am I suppose to relax while getting my pedi and enjoy my drink when I have a machine on my lap? And worse, the manicurist didn’t go to each side of my chair to do each respective hand; I had to keep crossing my right arm over so she could reach my right hand. …And there was no room for my drink except for in b/​w my legs, that already had a machine on it! …So my white wine was getting warm, fast!
Then there was the actual mani part that had me scratching my head. I had paid for the extra paraffin treatment. When she opened up the paraffin gloves there were two left handed gloves. Instead of opening up a new pack, she spent 5 minutes trying to put a left handed glove on my right hand. She finally gave up and just left the left handed glove on my right hand as is! ‘Unbelievable,’ I thought! And things just went downhill from there.
Now I’ve had gel manis many times, so I know the process! She used the coarsest nail file to file away the top of my nails. …And it hurt at times! I had to tell her several times «That hurts!» Then once she completed my gel mani, she filed my nails! How is my gel mani suppose to last if you file away the color that is covering the tips of my nail?! News flash, it didn’t! It was chipping and coming off in 4 days. Very disappointed!
Finally, the pedi. She burnt the shit out of my feet and legs b/​w the hot paraffin wax treatment and the heated towels. I told her, «Oh my God, that’s burning! That’s way too hot!» And she just looked at me shocked. Fast forward to the painting of my nails and she didn’t use any toe separators! I asked her straight up, «Aren’t you going to use toe separators?» She told me I didn’t need them. «Are you sure? When I lift my foot, the fourth toe nail touches the third toe…» She just continued on without any. The end result of my pedi was a huge let down. I know 12 year olds that can do a better job. There were nail brush marks at the base of each toe nail. And on my right big toe nail, the top coat didn’t make it to the sides of the nail. I had to ask three different people to fix my big toe nail! What a waste of my money and time!!!
Needless to say, I’m never going back there.

Absolutely fantastic nail bar in Adams Morgan, if I could give more than 5 stars I would! i was excited to check out a new neighborhood salon and it is not my favorite shop, I am a regular. Yoyo is absolutely the best and has a great, attentive and talented staff! I’ve had acrylics, spa pedicure, eyebrow waxing, gel manicure and regular manicure done on separate occations — all great experiences and quality jobs!
The complimentary drinks are fantastic (sangria being my favorite)! The salon is absolutely comfortable and adorable, the technicians are never in a rush & take their time and there is great customer service! There is a rea customer oriented, family style vibe here! I’ll be coming back for as long as I’m in DC!

I gave Cosmo another shot and I’m so glad I did. I think they were just working out the kinks since they’re new.
They have great mid-​week deals ($ 26 for a gel mani) and everyone is really friendly and attentive.
Last gel manicure lasted a month! Try it out if you’re in the neighborhood. Much cleaner and nicer than enchanted nails up the street.

Been here 3 times
First time: I was very excited about a new salon having opened. Walked in and was impressed by wide selection of polish (I usually always bring my own to make sure I get exactly what I want) and staff’s eagerness to assist me. I got a pedicure, and was quite satisfied with the experience.
Second time: I came with a friend about one week later. We both came to get pedicures and my friend wanted a fill in. I decided to get a polish change on my hands (why not?) The pedicure was okay, but the polish change was awful. Polish was uneven and sloppy. The guy clearly had no idea what he was doing. I didn’t make a fuss.
I even recommended that another friend of mine check the place out with her mom.
Third time: went back last week for a pedicure and waxing services, but was waiting for a friend to get there. I had been there for less than 10 minutes but the woman (whom I’m assuming is the owner) was quite rude and unhelpful, and made me feel like she didn’t want me to be there, so I left. She’s seen me before and knows I’ve referred my friends, so I was confused by her attitude, but it’s okay.
Also, they have all these «specials» but will add additional fees here and there. Even that I didn’t complain about… until now.
Most of these new businesses coming into this city have egregious customer service, and hardly any worthy services to offer.
