Excellent waxing services! Went for a Brazilian wax today… it was very fast and as painless as possible. Once you go here you won’t go anywhere else.
Been going here for mani/​pedis for a couple years. It’s such a relaxing atmosphere, always the same couple of ladies, feels like dropping in on friends. Great nail polish color selection. Spend a little more for the hot stone massage, it’s worth it!

Joy’s Spa is amazing. It’s a neighborhood spa that is totally unpretentious and offers top-​of-​the-​line services. Tina in particular is incredible — I have gone to her for facials, eyebrows and eyelashes and she is truly an expert who I trust. I have always left Joy’s feeling like a million bucks and really appreciate them squeezing me in last minute here and there. Thank you Tina!

This place is OK. I was the only one in the spa … so that was nice. Quiet, etc. The Tech was very friendly. But I think men get cheated when it comes to mani pedis. They don’t require polish, like women, so they take much less time and they are charged the same price. This tech did my nails in the pedi chair… which was strange. I don’t think you get the same level of service. I would rather have gone to the mainicure table.

Been coming here off and on over the years. They usually can squeeze you in with about 30 minutes notice and I consistently get a great quality mani pedi here. The the massage chair and scrub are great, the paint job is even and most importantly the polish lasts about a week. Not much more to say than that, go to Joy’s for your mani/​pedis!

Best pedicure I’ve had in DC! My feet — which are subject to a walking commute, barefoot tendencies and old shoes — have never felt better.

Joy’s is now my favorite place to get a Brazilian in DC — demonstrably the least painful wax I’ve received (anywhere, and I’m no novice) thus far. Joy was amicable, thorough and very quick. However, you cannot tip with a credit card so make sure to have some cash on hand regardless of your means of payment.

Seriously the best wax I’ve gotten. Quick. As painless as can be. Joy was nice, professional and knew exactly what she was doing.

I am a man who turned to Joy to wax my front and back. I have done this three times now at her location. She is very professional and minimizes the pain by discussing other things. I am never happy to be waxed, but I am always happy when it is done. And she does it better than others that have waxed me. Two thumbs up.

First, I’ll say I don’t usually get mani-​pedis because I hate to pay for getting my nails cut and painted. I can do that on my own. When I came to Joy’s I was thinking it would be just a nice little thing to do. Turns out this is the best place to go if you want to be pampered like a Queen/​King.
I feel like I have brand new feet and hands! Yes, I can paint my toes. I cannot, however, massage, moisturize, sooth, buff, and scrub the way they did here. Everything feels wonderful.
Service was great. Everyone is friendly and efficient. I got the bessstttt foot and hand massage ever. I’ll be back very soon!

Joy’s Spa is the best! I’m so pleased I discovered this hidden gym. If you’re looking for a place to get waxed, look no further. Joy will make you feel very comfortable and relaxed. Have you heard of a hot stone pedicure? Not me… not until I came here. Try it! It’s worth it and a must have with every visit. I appreciate the warmth and friendliness of all employees and look forward to my next visit. White glove service is hard to find. Here you’ll find it! (Extra perk: reasonable prices!)

Fabulous time with my mom that was in town. We made same day appointments for spa pedicures. This is not just a pedicure but a pedicure and foot and leg massage. Amazing! Thank you!

Joy is wonderful! I had my first bikini wax with her and she is quick and talks with you the whole time to make it more relaxed. Definitely going back to her!

I had a very pleasant experience at Joy’s Spa. First off, I was expecting a fancier salon based on the reviews, but it’s not at all. It’s kind of no muss, no fuss. But the staff and the clientele really make this place feel like a «family». The ladies I encountered had been going there for 20 years and it showed. It reminded me a bit of Truvy’s in Steel Magnolias — one of the other customers brought me water. And there was a 92-​year old woman in there with me and they treated her like royalty :) It just felt like a very warm atmosphere to me.
I had a mani/​pedi with Chi which was very relaxing. She does a great job with the massage parts. She didn’t do a lot of heel work, but I didn’t need a lot so maybe that’s why (I will ask for it in the future if necessary.)
Tina did my eyelash extensions and she was fantastic. I’ve worked with chatty lash people and quiet and she’s definitely quiet, concentrating on her work. I dozed off and woke up with beautiful lashes and was very happy.
Joy did my eyebrow waxing — quick, painless and perfect. She is the owner and was clearly very proud of the business she’s built over the last 20+ years.
I plan on making this my salon while I live in this neighborhood.

I’m absolutely delighted that I tried this salon for facials and I couldn’t be happier with Tina who is knowlegable, thorough, and totally professional. The prices are very reasonable, especially compared to the downtown salons and if you pre-​pay for a series of three facials to be booked on Wednesdays, you get a discount. I’ve been having a deep cleaning with microderm and my skin feels and looks super healthy afterward. Just goes to show that you don’t have to go to a fancy salon for great treatments.

If I could give zero stars I would. I Unilocal’d this place and saw raving reviews so I decided to give it a chance since it was my bday and I was DYING for a foot massage. I called and scheduled my appointment for SUNDAY MARCH 1^st at 12:30… The day of my birthday. I was out of town that weekend and was a little late getting there because of an ice storm. I go in around 1 and wasn’t greeted for a while. It was 2 employees and 2 customers which both looked to be wrapping up. The lady who greeted me knew my name as I said my spill about being late and having a 12:30 appointment TODAY … SUNDAY. My birthday. She argued me down sayin I made the appointment for SATURDAY — the day I was out of town (something I planned months ago) we went back and forth for a couple of minutes about me scheduling go Saturday. When she finally said… Well I have a 2:30 can u come back. By this time I was annoyed and declined the offer. I left feeling embarrassed and ashamed with how I was presented to other listening customers as we went back and forth about a scheduling error which was clearly her fault. DC’s number one or not … I won’t be returning.

Just had my first visit with Chi for waxing today. She was fantastic! I have lived in the area for years and just never tried this salon before. I have very difficult eyebrows– not as symmetrical as I would like, too thin, etc. She fixed it. Like magic. I will only go to Joy’s Spa from now on! I highly recommend her for waxing.

Joy’s Spa is the only place in DC I trust with my nails, waxing and facial needs! I have been going to Joy’s for five plus years now and couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. Ta gives the best mani/​pedi ever and has incredible skill with special designs. Boui is equally amazing with mani/​pedis!
Chi/​Joy is quick and meticulous all at the same time with eyebrow and back waxing.
Last, but certainly not least, Tina is phenomenal at facials! I have never felt so relaxed and rejuvenated after getting a facial. The normal facial is wonderful, but if you have the time, I recommend the microdermabrasion followed by the oxygen facial. One of the most incredible treatments I’ve ever had!

I must admit up front that I’ve been coming to Joy’s Spa for over 15 years. There are many reasons for that, including excellent service, reasonable prices, and always knowing that when you come you’ll be greeted and treated like family.
My favorite treatment at Joy’s Spa are the facials. They are relaxing, thorough, and make your skin look great. Recently, I was traveling and came into contact with something that left me with an allergic reaction. My face became all blotchy and irritated. After trying every cream I could think of, I put myself in the hands of the Joy’s Spa esthetician, whose excellent care calmed my skin down and got it back to looking great again.
If you want to find an excellent beauty care spa, you need look no further than Joy’s Spa.

It makes me sad to leave this review, but I’m very disappointed with the facial.
I came in for my appointment and rudely greeted by a nail tech that gestured «Have a seat» 15 minutes later, I realize my esthetician was in the process of a pedicure…
I had a facial with oxygen treatment and microderm… They Bill was close to $ 200
I’m given it a 2 star instead of 0 because it was a very relaxing procedure, and the esthetician did a much needed shoulder massage while my face was being steamed.
I’m all for a good treatment, if it’s worth it… But the oxygen treatment lasted what felt like about 5 minutes, and so did the very light microderm… The facial was overall extremely ineffective and pointless, for close to $ 200 I expect a wonderful revitalizing facial… I get a better affect after an at home exfoliation and moisturizing so I true felt this was a lot money down the drain unfortunately.
But it seems as though this is a rare review…

My friend was leaving for a trip and she needed to get a Brazilian before she left, and I wanted to get my nails done and my eyebrows waxed. I had made an appointment at another business for Wednesday, the day before she left. They had, however, thought I’d said Thursday and the lady who does the nails was not even at the store when we got there. I freaked out because she was leaving that Thursday and had to get it done that day… worse, it was 4:00. I immediately tried another place I’d heard of on Unilocal,Joy’s Spa. The lady on the phone was very pleasant and said they could take us immediately. When we got there, the lady I’d called greeted us pleasantly, obviously expecting us, and took my friend to get her waxing immediately. My friend stated the Brazilian was quick and painless for such a thorough jobs and there was not a single hair left.
While she was getting her wax, I was taken to get a manicure. It was done by a lady named TA. The first thing she did when I sat down was offer me a drink. They had hot green tea so I happily accepted, it was delicious! She then proceeded to do an amazing job cleaning up my nails, taking the time to shape them properly. When she finished cleaning my nails, I got my brows waxed. The lady who waxed them did an awesome job, keeping them thick at the front and thinning them out into a nice shape. It fit my brow type and the woman who did it was very pleasant, asking me about my schooling and just pleasantly chatting with me. When I sat back down again with TA she gave my arms a massage with lotion that smelt amazing. It was a mix of mango and cocoa butter. It was a nice massage, and was good for relaxing my muscles. She then painted my nails layer by layer, meticulously and precisely. I had her do a chick design on each nail for an easter theme. It took her a while to get them on because they were a difficult to paint, but you can see the picture in the photos posted!
If you’re in a hurry, I don’t know if this is the type of place you can just pop in to get your nails done, but they do an amazing job and it is very relaxing. They are also really good at fitting you in which is handy if you need a last minute appointment, or someone cancels on you! I will defiantly be going back to TA to get my nails done, and to get my eyebrows waxed!
I would recommend this salon for anyone who wants beautiful nails and a relaxing day.
