Dr.Jahangiri provides a wide range of dental services from basic preventative care to the most advanced cosmetic and sedation procedures. Dr. Jahangiri is certified by the prestigious Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), and offers different levels of conscious sedation to those patients with high levels of anxiety. She is also certified by Invisalign, Align Technology, and Laser Dentistry by the World Clinical Laser Institute. She is also an active member of American Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, and Virginia Dental Association, and DC dental Society. She has been voted as «America’s Top Dentists» by the research council of America.

Dr. Jahangiri (Dr.J) prides herself in providing only the highest quality general, and cosmetic dentistry with a very gentle touch. What she enjoys most is building a personal, and long-​term relationship with all her patients based on trust and mutual respect.

Dr. Jahangiri provides a wide range of dental services from basic preventative care to the most advanced cosmetic and sedation procedures. Very disappointing experience. I was bounced between dentists and told I had 10 cavities when a second opinion revealed only a few. This practice is either very aggressive on treatment or trying to drum up business for itself. Maybe both. Two upsides, though: very gentle cleaning, and an office staff that quickly and easily transferred my records to another practice.

Update: After discussing my issues with Dr. J, I understand why this issue happened and greatly appreciate the efforts of the office to contact me immediately. I was offered a couple of options to rectify the situation. Dr. J was very concerned, friendly, respectful, and understanding. I accepted one of the options that I was given to somewhat compensate me for the mistake.

I love this office! I’ve been a patient for about 6 years now. They are incredibly friendly and warm — from the front desk to the hygienists and the dentists, Dr. J and Dr. Apana. The hygienists are fantastic, friendly, and efficient. I had to have crowns put in and Dr. J herself called to check in on me, which impressed me. The office sends happy birthday emails, which is a nice touch. It’s just a really warm, positive place to receive fabulous dental care.

Cannot say enough nice things about Vicky, the hygienist who worked with me on my first visit to this office today. I’m not nervous at cleanings, but if you are the kind of person who is, I HIGHLY recommend Vicky. She is calm, patient, warm, and explains everything she is about to do before she does it. She anticipates your questions and needs, and does everything she can to make you feel comfortable during your visit. Aside from her incredible bedside manner, her technical skills are out of this world. I didn’t feel a single pinch during her examination and cleaning. Vicky was so, so gentle. She did a very thorough job — she took the time to examine every tooth very carefully from all angles, and she asked for recent history of pain/​sensitivity. I really felt like I was in the hands of a professional who loves her job and cares deeply about her patients. Dr. Jahangiri was also an excellent practitioner. She’s a great communicator, is very direct while still being friendly, and runs a really professional office. She told me that I’d need some work done, and before she had even finished her exam, someone from the front office had printed out a cost estimate and was ready to review it with me so I could make an informed financial decision about how I wanted to proceed. Overall, a fantastic first experience with this office, and I will certainly be going back again.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Jahangiri for three years and she’s a great dentist. Was seeing another one in the area who didn’t fix slightly chipped front tooth, just said there was nothing to be done about it. Well, a friend recommended Dr. Jahangiri and she fixed it, otherwise, it would have cracked in a few years! Now, I see her regularly and love her staff. Saved me from a cracked tooth! That would have been a first impression killer!

I chose this office based on its positive Unilocal reviews, and I’m glad that I did. After not visiting a dentist in years I found a hole in one of my teeth and braced for an expensive fix. Dr. Apana repaired the hole with a filling on my first visit.
The staff is young, friendly and knowledgeable. Though quite efficient, they were transparent about everything and seemed eager to educate me. The prices were reasonable and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a follow-​up call the next day from my dentist. I highly recommend this office. I just hope they don’t become too popular!

I just moved here from Ohio and I was definitely concerned about finding a dentist that didn’t try to get me to do extra procedures. The hygienist Michelle was fantastic and had some great suggestions and I felt very comfortable asking questions. Overall everyone was very nice and I would refer anyone to this dental office.

I have never written a Unilocal review before, and I am logging in (after scrounging around to try to reset my password) because Dr. J is so fantastic.
Long story short, I had a pretty complicated veneer issue I needed fixed that a previous dentist had not done well. It was made even more complicated by the fact that Dr. J needed to essentially backtrack on what had been done previously. Dr. J and her entire staff were so thorough and so supportive throughout the entire month and a half or so when I was coming into the office once every week or two. It was a pretty intense procedure and I was comforted by the fact that everyone was so precise, responsive and knowledgable.
This review is made even stronger by the fact that I had been through this procedure with another dentist (that had been highly recommended to me) and it was night and day how the previous dentist and Dr. J’s team handled it.
Bottom line: have a complicated issue that you want the best team to handle? Come to Dr. J’s office. Just need a standard cleaning? Come to Dr. J’s office. Along the spectrum of issues, they handle it all spectacularly.

Moved to the DC/​MD area and spent months researching all the dentists that I had access to on my insurance to find…“my new doctor”. Dr. J was my first choice and I was very glad they had space for new patients. The whole team has been wonderful! I am so happy I went! Michelle, the hygienist, is caring, patient, funny and explains everything! She is so knowledgeable! Love her! Dr. J is very kind, caring and super smart at what she does. She also explains things well and is a great communicator. Love her too! Lilly, the front desk specialist is a sweetheart and Pausides, the treatment coordinator, is very joyful.
I have high anxiety whenever I go to dentists due to traumatic childhood experiences at them. Dr. J and Michelle do more than they realize at settling nerves. I am very grateful. They are doing a fantastic job of helping me get my teeth/​gums up to speed, from not being able to visit the dentist for several years. I truly feel like I am in capable hands and that they have my dental and health well being at the forefront. YaY!

I was referred to Advanced Cosmetic & General Dentistry of DC by a coworker and I’ve been absolutely pleased with their service. I have not taken the best care of my teeth over the years, mostly due to ignorance. I’ll admit, I was not paying attention to my dentist as a kid. However, my dental hygenist, Michelle, has been wonderful at explaining fundamental things like proper brush-​strokes and flossing techniques. As a result, I’ve likely saved a ton of money in oral surgery.
I always recommend Advanced Cosmetic & General Dentistry of DC to my friends looking for a dentist in DC and I’d highly recommend their services to you, dear reader.

I came here because I’d had such a horrible experience with another dentist. In my experience, I have always felt as if Dentists were more concerned about scaring me and/​or getting the most money out of me than actually being caring health providers. I immediately felt comfortable at Dr. J’s office. The hygienist was finishing up with another patient so I met with Dr. J first. We discussed my concerns and my options and she listened to and addressed all of my concerns with a number of different alternatives. After my cleaning, she met with me again and explained all of their findings. At no point was she in a rush or not attentive. I can say the same for her staff. In general, I had a fabulous experience and have already recommended her to friends and family!

I’m irrationally afraid of the dentist but I still think Dr. J and her staff are great. They took the time to listen to my complaints and explain my options. Everyone was extremely helpful and worked to make my visits comfortable and pain free. I’ve had a cleaning, root canal referral, and crown so far and have no complaints. I would never say I look forward to going back to any dentist but at least I’m not afraid anymore knowing this team is on my side.
If you have fear or anxiety issues, take the time to explain that up front and they will do their best to help you and calm your fears whether its through conversation or medication.

I came into Advanced Cosmetic & General Dentistry about a month ago looking to fill my gap! I had braces a few years back and my gap in between my front two teeth was slowly but surely coming back. There was little to no wait after filling out my paper work. The staff was incredibly friendly and Dr. J was great!
I was given a few options, none of which were covered by my usually liberal dental insurance. Grace (Dr. J’s assistant) was a huge help in me deciding to go with the composite veneer on the two front teeth. As a college student in DC, this was my first time having any sort of procedure done without my parents by my side and Grace was a ginormous comfort! The procedure went smoothly and I love the new look! I’d gladly return!
Note: I initially chose to have my consultation done at this particular office because I make a point to exclusively support women doctors & professionals.

Remember in my review when I said that the checkout price was less than what I’d been quoted at the beginning of the cleaning? I just received a bill for difference. Not a huge deal, but annoying, especially when I did bring it to their attention during checkout that I had been quoted a higher price and they just smiled and said it was my lucky day instead of double checking.

I absolutely love this place and couldn’t recommend it more!
I first found out about this place because it takes my insurance, but additionally, it had great Unilocal reviews. After visiting myself, I had to write a review.
I have had to go there a few times over the last couple of months, and each time, no matter who I’ve interacted with, I’ve had nothing but great experiences from the front desk/​receptionist to the dentists. Everyone is completely professional and really strives to make you feel comfortable while there. Every time I go back, they remember me and I literally feel like I am their only patient, as in, I receive that much special attention.
They take extra time to show you the proper way to floss and brush and make recommendations based on what is best for you and your wallet, and not themselves. While I was having work done, Dr. Jahangiri even offered me an ipad to watch Netflix on and use noise canceling headphones to make me feel more relaxed and block out the noise of the drill.
Again, this place is fabulous. We all know how difficult it can be to find a dentist you enjoy and are comfortable with. If you are looking for a new dentist or even if you’re not looking, you should definitely consider this place.

I first found this place on Unilocal.Now I’m sure you’re wondering how that’s possible since I am only the 2nd to review it, but this business used to be owned by Stephen Barsky DDS. That is what my Unilocal search originally returned. The reviews for that location weren’t that great but the best I saw for dentist in DC. Upon arriving I was kind of confused as the name said Advance Dentistry. I assumed the original Unilocal entry was incorrect. It has now been brought to my attention that it used to be Stephen Barsky, DDS (
) but he had retired months before I came and is under a new owner with a new name. Thus we’re here. So on to the review.
This place is conveniently located between the Farragut North and Dupont Circle metro stations. Dupont Circle might actually be better is you exit near Krispy Kreme and Panera Bread. The office is a suite so be sure to look for the 1145 building as there will be no other signs on the exterior. The office was extremely clean and all the staff was friendly. I was able to schedule my appointment online and was happy that they were ready for me when I arrived. Michelle Kaszas R.D.H. was my dental hygienist and she was awesome. She was a people person, professional and friendly, and very thorough when it came to cleaning. I haven’t had such great care since my childhood dentist office in Atlanta. I was actually thinking back on how not so great my other dentists had been in DC compared to this office. The xray and photography technology here is some of the best I’ve seen. You can see every picture yourself so if you questioning what they advise, just look up at the screen. You can see each tooth and gum area for yourself.
Arousha Jahangiri, DDS was my doctor and is the best dentist I’ve ever seen besides Dr. Gailya L. Axam, DDS in Atlanta. She explained my trouble areas and along with the hygienist we discussed a plan of care. I upgraded toothbrushes and rinse products. I also scheduled a follow up deep cleaning appt, as well as a appt to do fillings, both of which I knew I needed before I came here but wasn’t going to do until I was comfortable with an office. This office has won my trust and comfort.
Update: I went back for my deep cleaning and additional fillings and my mouth feels so much better and cleaner. Second experience was even better than the first if that is even possible.
