Psychotherapy & Counseling for Trauma, Washington, DC
I work with a variety of people and psychological issues, but the heart of my practice is working with individuals, couples, and families whose traumatic or painful experiences – either recent or past – contribute to their current problems or difficulties. I work with all responses to trauma in its many forms. Through psychotherapy, you come to understand how your traumatic life experience is playing out in your life today. You will discover that processing your painful traumatic experiences helps you feel stronger, and feel more alive. With attention, understanding, acceptance and changes in thought and behavior patterns, healing and recovery is not only possible, but can leave you in a more resilient state.

I view therapy as an invitation to bring awareness to the here and now. For many of us, we press forward, through, and over difficult feelings when they arise in our daily lives. Often they show up as unwanted thoughts or images. They not only fill us with dread, but we will go to great lengths to avoid them. On the other hand, what if moving toward our feelings actually reduces the influence they have over us, allowing us to attend to the very things we value, thereby creating meaning and purpose in our lives.
