The Dovetail is a place of inclusion; a point of convergence for any and all. We specialize in being creative without pretention. We have a full espresso bar, sandwiches hot and cold, wraps, salads, nachos, plus ice cream and milkshakes.

History

Established in 2013.

I had been an ASE master technician who also played in three local bands and performed solo as a singer songwriter, and wanted to retire from auto repair. I was running the Sunday open mic at Tracey’s Corner Café. Tracey recently had her third child, and wanted to sell her café. I’m honestly surprised this place is still open. Their espresso lacks depth… the pastries are store bought. The donut I ordered on my most recent visit was stale.
The clientele is your standard older or high-​school aged Warren resident. Some might call them the alternative crowd.
I feel bad for the owner. He seems to do everything here. The few times I’ve gone in, I’ve seen his staff sitting around doing homework instead of working.
There’s so much potential at this location, given its proximity to a large hospital. Medical professionals loves their mocha-​frappa-​latte-​whips. The Starbucks on Woodward near Beaumont get so much business just from Beaumont, especially for the night shift.
If this place can get some better management, it has great potential. Otherwise, it will remain a mediocre coffee shop in a sea of sub-​par shops in Michigan.

Cozy little place with a friendly staff. Coffee and teas are all fine. I wouldn’t recommend the food though. It’s a perfect place for doing homework relaxing with a good book. They usually have music on the weekend nights.

As others have noted the area is quite spacious, the gal making the drinks was fun to speak with, and the drinks were done well. My only complaint is that the furniture is a little sparse and cheap looking, but I’m sure when they get more visitors they can replace that. Overall a great experience and I wouldn’t hesitate sending friends here in the future.

I originally found this place on Unilocal since I did not want to go to Starbucks and I needed a wi-​fi connection in this area of Warren. The décor is quite unique and eclectic. The employee was helpful. Better tea exists elsewhere, but for the location, the ambiance, and the price, this place is pretty awesome!

Very spacious inside, super friendly service, and good coffee. This is a great place to come and get work done on your own or bring a few friends to hang out (they even have a few board games inside to play for the spontaneous game of Settlers). This place needs to be more popular!

I don’t drink coffee, but I really enjoyed the food, ambiance, and friendly staff every time that I’ve been there. The open mic nights are run really well and I think it would make a great venue for other weekly events.

Good coffee with cool employee I met. This place is big and has a ton of potential. I would never had known this was a coffee shop if not for the Internet. If nearby give it a shot. Btw, they make sandwiches, paninis, nachos etc. They also have cookies cupcakes and other various goodies to try.
