History

Established in 1949.

Established by Robert Marowske and two other business partners in 1949, FLAME Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical has been offering high quality service to the Metro Detroit area for more than 60 years. During this time, our well-​trained, expert technicians have installed more than 75,000 home comfort systems throughout Southeast Michigan and at one point owned three other companies in the Metro Detroit area.

Our company has been family-​owned since the beginning and that’s the foundation on which we have built it. Our customers, staff, technicians and owner are all part of the FLAME Family, and that’s something we pride ourselves on.

Business Owner

FLAME Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical is owned by Gary Marowske, the son of company founder Robert Marowske. Gary, who is also FLAME’s President, isn’t just a member of the FLAME family by birth, but also by trade. He started working for FLAME when he was in high school washing trucks and over time rose to the top of ladder, where he sits today as the dedicated President and owner.

He’s so dedicated to FLAME that his wife, Kathy, sometimes asks him, «What do you love more, me or FLAME?» His answer? «The dog.»

Gary is also a proud member of the Metro Detroit area and takes great pride in being from Detroit. He stays active in the community, including attending church in Downtown Detroit, and participating in many other events throughout the city.

it’s been THREE DAYS since the «professional» snaked our main line and it’s backing up AGAIN!!! clearing a clog is plumbing 101!!! Flame Furnace does not live up to their name. stay far, far away from these guys!
we ended up going with

I have been a Flame customer for several years and subscribe to their service plan, by which a tech comes to my home twice a year to check furnace and AC to head off any problems. For the most part I have been very pleased and have recommended Flame to others. I am a discriminate consumer and when friends, neighbors and associates heard good reviews from me, I believed they were confident that Flame was good. Untill now!!! Just as a friend’s new furnace installation was concluded, the friend had life saving emergency surgery. He is still in recovery and unable to drive or conduct business. He contacted Flame to let them know that asap, the balance would be taken care of. Staff was very nice and understanding. The staff, except for the owner, Mr. Morawski, who called to insist that the balance be paid NOW. An explanation was given. His answer? Not my problem. How insensitive and callous! He would make no allowances. Can this man be expected to be concerned about a lack of heat or AC, if he does not care about a life. I will not deal with someone so unconcerned with a customer. I have canelled an upcoming sppointment and am looking into another company for a service plan. Because of the owner’s insensitivity, Flame does not deserve my loyalty or business.,

A complete waste of time and money, I found this company on Angie’s list and though because of all the good reviews they would be reputable company. They first off stated it would be a $ 85 fee for a estimate for a Eletric job I needed done, I gladly paid it without a problem, it took me over 2 weeks to hunt them down by phone and when I finally was able to speak with who claimed they took my estimate he stated the amount of work would be $ 48,000. I double checked them triple checked to make sure the guy I was speaking to had the right adress. I had 3 other bids from contractors I found online and all three of them were bellow 4k in work, either they did not want to do my job or they were just trying to take me for a ride. I later found out that my contractor changed the lock box weeks prior, so the code I gave them wouldn’t have works there fore they never really inspected the property and gave a estimate out of thin air. Stay about for the company they will waste your time and money

It was a cold Saturday in February, I was without heat, and I had a hard time finding a company that would come out right away. I called Flame, and they said they could be out shortly. I was told the charge would be $ 89.00.
The Flame serviceman came out within 3 hours, and the technician was polite and seemed professional & knowledgeable. Within 35 minutes, he had the problem diagnosed and corrected. Up to this point, I was highly impressed.
Then the tech went out to his truck for a few minutes, and when he came back in the house, it’s as if he transformed from professional technician to pushy salesman. Instead of simply handing me a bill, he proceeded to sit down at my kitchen table and push a monthly service plan. When I told him I generally shy away from such plans, he became visibly agitated and his friendly demeanor disappeared. He handed me a bill for $ 291.00 — quite a difference from the $ 89.00 I was quoted on the phone. He says the $ 89 was for diagnosis only, and to actually fix the problem (no parts were required) was an additional $ 202.00. Wow. At this point, he had been at my house for about an hour, and a good 25 minutes of that was spent sitting at my kitchen table.
While I am appreciative of having my furnace repaired, I feel that $ 291 for 35 minutes of work is a bit excessive. I would only call this outfit again as a absolute last resort.

RUN AWAY. These people are crooks through and through. They charged me $ 297.00 to install a $ 10.00 part in less than a half hour. That was after the service fee was waived because I recently purchased the «Gold Plan» from them. Not only did that not fix my boiler, but they continue to charge me for the gold plan even though I have written them several times to cancel it. Save yourself the headache, worse experience ever.

Unfortunately, we have to agree with the reviewers. We have been a long term customer of Flame at both of our homes in Michigan. We have two Gold Plans. Once again, today, they cancelled their appointment at the last minute — canceled at 4:00 PM for a 4:00 PM appointment, and wanted to reschedule for the next day. We had multiple missed appointments with their plumbing division over the past six months, and now the same thing is happening in the furnace division. We don’t want apologies — we have had it with this organization. They have no respect for our time — only their own. If this was the first time this happened, it would be a different story. Once is too many, but multiple times — no excuse. It is kind of funny that the technician that was our first house today, tried to sell me the 10 year plan! At this point — no more chances — find someone else. Glenn Hague (Master Handyman) has to be much more careful with who he recommends.

Same day service (albeit bearly), but very expensive. Requested furnace service via web in the morning, but since no one responded by noon, I had to follow-​up w/​call. Was told a serviceman would contact me shortly to schedule service that afternoon. Came 5pm and no one called yet so I when I called again, I was told serviceman was almost done with current customer and would call shortly. He finally arrived at 6pm… but never did get the ETA call.
He diagnosed and replaced a $ 25 igniter within 20 mins for a total bill of $ 370! ($ 100 fixed price for the housecall & diagnostic and $ 270 to snap off/​on a new igniter). Since he had the furnace open, he did wipe clean the soot… However, a week later, I heard water dripping and sizzling and traced it down to a plugged waterline filter in the furnace causing water to backup and escape through seals above the furnace burners. I’m speculating it may have been related to the ash «clean-​up» (like flushing too much hair down the drain). 1hr later, I was able to remove, clean and reinstall the water filter.
Bottomline, even though it only took 20 min to swap out a $ 25 part, I’m okay with paying more for a professional diagnostic and having the part in stock, but $ 370 seems excessive. He also tried to sell me a $ 360/​yr maintenance agreement that would waive the $ 100 housecall and get an additional 20% off that day and for all future service calls. However, just to break even, you would need $ 1400 of repairs every year… NOT!

Too expensive– I could tell that the tech was immediately tying to sell me on more being wrong. not to mention the «Maintenance Service Pack» which was more expensive and even Thorton and Grooms who I had a Maintenance contract with in previous years. I really hate feeling like because I am a female that techs think that they can get more money out of me. I stopped the guy short and told him just fix what needs to be fixed, nothing more and leave.

Watch out for these crooked clowns. I called for a boiler replacement estimate. The estimator tried to get me to agree to pay a certain amount for the job before he even wrote up an estimate. He never even completed one, and I hired someone else, a licensed master plumber. Months later, when his management followed up on why they didn’t get the job, I told them the story. Then… The called the city to complain that they were «cheated out of work» by an unlicensed contractor.
Crooks!!!
