West Main Kitchen & Bar

Oh I like them. Have not been there for happy hour but have seen crowds. Not too bad. I like the food, the bread is great. Crusty and chewy. Great sandwiches, great beer. Delicious burgers and great fries. It’s very comfortable. Nice staff too.

Last night’s dinner at West Main was fantastic. I’ve been there for lunch several times and feasted on their yummy sandwiches, but I’ve put myself on a diet this month :’(and I decided to try one of the salads. It was delicious. Great dressing, not over done, tossed with raisins and bacon, topped with goat cheese. I was full and satisfied by the end.
Apparently on Wednesday’s at dinners you can get a bottle of wine for half price! So obviously that happened! Had a great bottle of Pinot Noir along with my bomb salad.
The service was great as well. The lady was just the right amount of attentive. Not hovering or pushy, but always there when we needed a plate cleared or to order something else.

Wonderful evening at West Main last! Thank you for accommodating our neighborhood gathering. Our waiter Michael was outstanding! Compliments to the chef… all of our meals were delicious and beautiful prepared. Also enjoyed delicious cocktails at the bar before our dinner. Can’t wait to go back.

As an aspiring Chef in the industry I love going to different places. I’ve been in for lunch and now recently dinner. By looking at the kitchen and the food I respect their high standards on what they’ve put out and how they represent themselves. It’s hard to find somewhere that not only matches a price with deliciousness, but also for owners and kitchen staff who care on what they put out. Dinner was honestly busy, and my food took time to come out. Since I understand this scenario I was okay with it; especially since my chicken and waffle with sausage gravy was so good. Hot, fresh and stomach happy. I’ve also had previously their fried goat cheese salad and other apps. Keep up the good work! It’s an excellent place for a night out. Not too big which also pleased me. It shows that they’re focused on a smaller crowd and rotation to keep detail on their food and service. Will definitely be back!

Food quality is quite good but the wait staff needs training. We really enjoyed the «chowdah». It took a long time to get our main courses. The berger was beyond awesome. The mac and cheese with short ribs was greasy and just fair. They messed up my daughter’s order of gluten free mac and cheese with shrimp. There was no shrimp and the pasta was not GF. That is a really big error in my book. It’s really too bad that our evening turned out this way. I really want to give more stars but I can’t.

I am shocked to read the glowing reviews this place is getting. About a week ago my husband, two children and I dined at West Main Kitchen & Bar. The waiter was about 18 years old, and although really sweet, did not seem to know anything about real food, much less the offerings on the menu. They don’t offer food for children so we had to try to figure out what an 8 year old and 10 year old would enjoy. My 8 year old ordered the chicken with waffles (two things she loves, and since we love having Chicken & Waffles in the City/​Brooklyn, we figured how could we go wrong), my 10 year old ordered the braised rib grilled cheese sandwich, my husband ordered the burger and I ordered the beet salad. When the food came, the waiter set a blackened/​charred grilled cheese in front of my 10 year old daughter. I could not believe they would serve something so burnt to anyone, much less a child, and charge us $ 12. Although my daughter enjoyed the taste of the ribs and cheese, she did not want to eat it because the bread was burned. The chicken and waffles. .. I pains me to describe how awful they were. The chicken tasted like re-​heated leftovers (was not spicy, as described on the menu) and the waffle had absolutely no flavor (certainly was not savory), was rubbery in texture, and it was an old re-​heated waffle. The whole thing was covered with the most disgusting «sausage» gravy I have ever encountered in my life. For an $ 18 plate, couldn’t they have made a fresh waffle and fried the chicken freshly that day? Maybe they could have tasted it to see if it was edible? We couldn’t eat it. My first bite of the beet salad revealed a moldy-​type flavor. I couldn’t figure out whether it came from the blue cheese (sometimes that happens with blue cheese and you have to shave off the sides before you cut into it and serve it) — or it could have been the pine nuts (which get rancid pretty quickly if you don’t keep them in a cool/​dry place). Suffice it to say the rancid flavor permeated the entire salad. I ate the salad because I was hungry and I did not want to make a scene in front of my children. However, I was really sickened that the quality of the food was as horrible as it was, as we don’t get out much with two small children. There was one thing. .. My husband enjoyed his burger and we all enjoyed the French fries. But I certainly would not give those items a glowing review either. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me to eat there.

Went to happy hour last Friday, and that will be the last Friday I go. They not only increased the prices on their happy hour menu but largely reduced portion sizes. It was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation and people were standing directly behind us yelling orders for drinks and food. The bartender was nice, but I had to ask for a glass of water 4 times. I made sure to only have 1 drink so I could get out of there. You would think the owner would have pitched in but was not around. Really a shame because my friends and I used to enjoy going there.
Wow hard to believe no response from the owners. Guess that shows their lack of interest in Unilocal reviews.

Excellent meal. Went in at 6 on a Sat night. There was a 45 min wait for a table for two so we sat at the bar. Loved the atmosphere and the music. The bartender was happy and attentive. My girlfriend loved the Sangria, they had a number of excellent beers on tap. We had the chowder and the meatballs to start, both were great. I had the chicken and waffles and they were amazing. Crispy and delicious, cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the crab crusted salmon and she loved it. We will definitely be going back soon.

Not overly impressed. Very loud atmosphere and the music in the bar just seemed to get louder the more crowded it became. The burger and Mac and cheese were both very good but not worth the 14 dollar price. $ 9.00 for a mediocre wine and $ 6.00 for a bottle of domestic beer was really a bit much.

Great food and selection is the best aspect of this restaurant. Very loud and busy restaurant is the biggest negative. Solid restaurant overall, definitely would go back. Great squash ravioli and chicken and waffles.

Food is excellent, craft beer on tap including some local brew. Great place for a family dinner or a night out with friends. Try the chicken and waffles with sausage gravy.

By far the best food in wappingers, possibly in dutchess. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good drink selection. If you haven’t eaten here, you are missing out.

Ate here for the first time last night! The food was amazing! I had the calamari as the starter and it was delicious! For my main course I had the mac and cheese. I topped it with shrimp! It was spectacular! For dessert I had the deep chocolate brownie! It was magnificent! I will be telling everyone to come here!

We had West Main cater our wedding and it was everything we could possibly ask for: the service was excellent and the food was even better. The evening went off without a hitch, due in large part to Steve and his amazing staff, who did all the legwork setting up the venue and were there well after the wedding ended to clean up. Their efforts cannot be commended enough and we couldn’t recommend them any more highly. Thanks for a healthy contribution to a magical night!

I’ve been here three times now so it’s time for a review. Food is phenomenal. Flatbread and calamari appetizers were excellent. Had a better salad than anywhere I’ve ever been. Three different entrees were great. If you like short rib, this is one of the best around. Menu isn’t huge but it is varied and unique for the area. Wine and drink menu are good, draft beers are a couple locals and a few crafts i.e. Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, etc. Recommended.
Constructive criticism:
Staff is very friendly but seem… Inexperienced.
Entrees came out 30 seconds after salad and apps for mine and every table around me, except the table across from me… Who got their salads after their entrée.

Stopped for some dinner at this cute place! I had the sangria it was in a huge glass and very yummy!
Service was great. The waiter was friendly and made some honest recommendations.
For our appetizer we had the rice balls in a creamy red pepper tomato sauce! Delicious, highly recommend!
Also had the pork tacos with bacon black beans, fun play on a traditional dish.
Loved the place. My advice: GO THERE!

I have been here three times and I cannot give them high enough reviews.
The bartender is absolutely top notch.
The dining is absolutely wonderful. If you have the opportunity to attend a wine pairing event be sure not to miss it.

The food here is consistently great. It’s a small menu (varies based on the season) but we’ve dined here enough times that I’ve managed to eat several items off of it and nothing has ever disappointed.
The only spotty thing is the service. The waitstaff are extremely nice but not trained very well. When the place gets crowded, getting a server’s attention to get a meal wrapped or a check is nearly impossible. At our last visit, we had more contact with the bus staff than our actual waitress.

This place is always on point.
The presentation of their food to the freshness of the ingredients are top notch. There is something for everyone on this menu.
You can tell there’s a lot of care and attention put into each plate and the chef is present in the dining room asking how the meal was, he puts a lot of love in it.
We have done a small group to over 15 all flawlessly on the part of West main.

An outstanding place, from the ambience, food and service. Was with a party of 9 and had zero issues.
Good beer selection on tap and a lot of various wines.
Didn’t get apps but herd the rice balls were good.
I had the braised short ribs and they were out of this world! So tender and flavorful, it was in a brandy Demi-​glacé, it was delicious. My girlfriend had the Mac and cheese with the short ribs on it, omg. It was probably the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. My buddy got the curry chicken which was really tasty and had a good kick to it. My other friend got the pan seared chicken which was really tender and had tons of flavor. Everyone loved their meals. I would come back multiple times just to order what each person had.
Btw, our waiter was cool, he was attentive and down to earth. He took care of us.
