Found this spot by searching Unilocal.Went in today on a rainy day. Nice cozy little spot in the middle of Wappingers. Don’t be fooled by the neighborhood, the Ground Hog felt like home when we walked in. My wife and I both had egg omelette’s and the grain bread. My wife also had the peanut butter late. Food was great, felt home cooked. The owner Mike came over and introduced himself. Great guy. Asked us where we were from since we just moved up and even gave us a recommendation of a local place to check out. Awesome little gem.

Best blueberry pancakes I’ve ever had. The breakfast sandwiches are really tasty, too. My boyfriend ordered the medium roast Honduran coffee and it was fantastic.

Stumbled onto this café while researching Wappingers. Owner Mike very friendly and they’ve been in business 15 years. Nice, hip, interesting décor, great vibe, a very excellent omelet(I would definitely go back for the bacon, tomato, swiss)-not a big, fluffy, tasteless thing, but a really well-considered balance of ingredients, with a nice, crêpe-like thinness to the eggs, wrapped neatly around the contents. A.Really.Great.Omelet. I’ve been told the blueberry pancakes are the best in the county, so will definitely make the trip back.

Loved this little shop! The food was super good and the staff was very friendly! I just wish the staff told us about their cash only policy before we ordered, ate, and then had to go to a nearby ATM.

Stumbled upon this place and pleased we did. The outside of the place appears beaten and in need of paint, but don’t let that stop you, the food is awesome! Once inside it’s quaint, relaxed and cozy, but It is not polished — not dirty, but rough around the edges. That wasn’t a problem for us, but others might be turned off. Prices are reasonable, maybe a little higher than the diner, but the food is so much better than at the diner, so its a small premium for a friendly place with great food. Staff was great, friendly and efficient. As others have said, CASHONLY*****

Don’t make the mistake of overlooking the west edge of town, ’round the corner from Main proper. Just a few buildings up the hill from County Players Falls Theater, this is the sort of gem you need to know about if you’re two thousand miles from home exploring this huge but uniquely accessible country. Bank Square in Beacon, with its gentrified Brooklyn flavor, is closer to Interstate 84, but The Ground Hog is authentic Americana, and worth the ten extra minutes. Same goes for the elusive charm of Wappingers Falls itself — the hidden village removed from the retail chains on U.S. 9. It’s not farm to table, but the food is exquisitely prepared and the coffee delicious. Tins of loose tea abound. The T-shirts run long and narrow, perfect for my slender but squishy treelike frame. Two rooms, several tables, three comfy leather chairs, dark cigar-lounge wood panels, framed photos of the Hudson Valley, motorcycle and pig art, an actual motorcycle. This is the place to have a seat. Don’t miss out. My marbled rye toast — a singular joy — was served buttered, so it’s properly melted. There’s a parking lot in back. You’re still a short stroll from the falls, a pub, a pizzeria, a dairy bar, a bicycle shop in a former bank, the Grinnell Library, historical landmarks. Ask Mike, the proprietor, about his days in the service in San Diego. Drenched with sunlight. Cash only.

Saturday, 11:30AM. CASHONLY. Quickie: + Food quality + Friendly staff + Hygiene * Turnaround + Menu options And then??? The Ground Hog is good place for breakfast/brunch. Good job representing mom n’ pop shops! ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Redneck omelette + Pulled pork retained moisture without sacrificing smoky flavor. — Veggies should add their elements to the dish. 2. Blueberry pancakes with Maple syrup + Fluffy hotcakes with fresh fruit. Constructive comments: *Do you compost? *Source ingredients?

So glad we came! They have the best cup of coffee around and over 30 varieties of tea! My daughter and I had breakfast sandwiches one on an everything bagel and one on a Portuguese Roll which was stellar! Mike was amazing and personable! Very knowledgable about local areas to visit! A must if you are in the area!

We were looking for a place to have brunch and this place popped up-more of breakfast than brunch. However, pretty good. I had the breakfast panini and my son had the southwestern omelet both very good. The only reason for the 3 stars — a little overpriced.

I love this place! Came here for a latte and it was perfectly made. I didn’t need to add any sugar and it was the best tasting espresso drink I’ve had our whole east coast trip. So glad to have stumbled on it. My son also loved the peanut butter shake. The service was excellent and personable. Will return next trip. Make sure to bring cash as I didn’t and had to get some and return. But so glad I did.

Terrible. Ordered a salmon burger from the board. First had to send it back. Salmon raw. Bread soggy and not toasted. Came back, still very small, marginally edible, a bit of mediocre slaw, a pickle, and a slice of tomato and a small bag of crap potato chips to throw away. Then they say it is $ 13 with tax. No price had been listed. Does not even deserve the 1-star. The nice seats and AC get the star, plus a good coffee or something I had had months back on my earlier visit.

Nice vibe to this place and the coffee is great. Had the full stack if French toast with real maple syrup. A standard and for good reason. Comes with pan fried bananas. Nice touch. Restaurant also is a store selling eclectic stuff, which occupies ones time while enjoying the great coffee. Lots of terrific baked goods in the case up front. Could get real fat as a regular!

**Cash only** I had the French toast(real maple syrup!!!). It was just right, with caramelized warm bananas on top. This is a great little place. It’s very«upstate NY» and has a cozy relaxed vibe to it. I feel calmer just sitting here. Worth checking out!

The redneck omelet truly amazing with great taste laced with pulled pork imported from South Carolina. Also great place just to stop and pick up a coffee or latte before work. Friendly staff and the owner goes above and beyond to make your visit enjoyable. ***Check out the motorcycle in the back room.
