Johnson Compounding and Wellness

They have a terrible service. The lady attending me said she needed her supervisor to process an exchange. Her supervisor was talking to someone that seemed more like a friend than another customer. I waited for over half an hour and decided to leave because of the poor service.

Had a Minor Possible Problem, But They Remedied It Extremely Well
I had an Rx for Low Dose Naltrexone. They had changed one of the fillers to a calcium based filler. Which I did not want. And so initially, I was unhappy about this.
However, the response from Steve Bernardi was the most professional, respectful response I have ever received from a healthcare professional. I have had problems with the medical system before (medical errors, misdiagnoses), and the response of the healthcare professionals has always been a «blame the victim» mentality.
Not with Steve. He was right on the issue, fixed it right away, and had new meds for me the very next day. I was extremely happy with his professionalism and respect.
In talking with Steve since then, there appears to be disagreement among the LDN experts (e.g. doctors, LDN non-​profits, etc) as to what the best and worst fillers are for LDN. So I cant even blame this pharmacy for this. They may not, in good faith, even view this as a mistake. My unhappiness was more based on the change that was done, not to my knowledge.
Regarding whether Calcium should be used in the first place, my opinion differs, based on what I’ve been told by other experts. But I may be wrong on that. Things may not be initially as black-​and-​white as I thought they were, given that the national LDN experts cant even agree on this. So for now, I will avoid calcium fillers and do more research. I use Avicel as a filler only.
In any event, overall, I have been a loyal customer of Johnson for many years, and will continue to do so. They have filled other meds for me hundreds of times, with never a problem. One of my meds required blood tests every week to monitor its level, and those tests always confirmed that Johnson had filled it perfectly.
So I view this as a one-​time mistake that happened, that was handled extremely well. I guess it’s just a matter of, whichever compounding pharmacy one uses, always make clear, in writing (and your doctor should be doing this anyway), what fillers to use or not use, and monitor this as time goes on to make sure it’s being adhered to.
Because the rate of well-​done Rx’s with Johnson has been so near-​perfection over the years, I will give them 4 stars here. I think that is a reasonable compromise rating. I will continue to get my compounded Rx’s filled here.

This medium sized Pharmacy and wellness center is in the center of Waltham, right on main street (rt. 20). The location is really ideal for someone who travels 20 every day to get to and from 128/​pike. They even have a private lot around the store so you can park your car with confidence, unlike the street parking in Waltham.
You enter the store, and everything is immaculate. All the shelves were stocked, clean, and tidy. I have been to a lot of compounding pharmacies to get special medications, and none have really felt this inviting. I felt like everything was sterile, but the friendly staff gave it a homey feeling.
After only 30 – 45 seconds of looking around, a Pharmacist asked me if I needed help. Since when do you get customer service from a Pharmacist these days?! So often do you get somebody who is just working there to work there, much less someone who actually fills my medications. Nonetheless Dr. Walczyk was ready to help with my questions. He even asked about me about my other medications I was taking to make sure there were no side effects I would be aware of. I mentioned a specific drug I was on and he referred me to a Dr. Allibhai who apparently knew more about those types of medications than John. Yes, they like to go by first names there! John and Omar.
You can even see the team compounding medications in what looked like a sterile room. Always a good feeling when you can see your medication being made in front of you!

First time here and hopefully my last. The staff was not friendly. It felt as if my presence was bothering them.

Customer service is alive and well at Johnson Drug! Dr. Kracoff spends the time with each customer to insure every question is answered. His knowledge, concern and honesty can’t be beat. The store and the staff are excellent.

Outsanding customer service every step of the way! Dr. Gary Kracoff is very helpful and offers a level of service you’ll never recieve at a chain store. It’s definitely worth the trip to check them out.

This place is an overpriced joke. First, I was ignored when I was roaming around the store looking for an items I found online. When I went to the counter I was yelled at by the sale staff when I asked for what I came in for. I looked around the store and found some items were almost double of what I see at Whole Foods. Tom’s mouthwash was $ 7.99, Traditional Medicines Tea was $ 6.99 ($ 4.59 at Whole Foods). I later spoke to a friend who was talked into over $ 300 of items that produced no results. I will not be going back, which is too bad really wanted to find a holistic health facility.

Did you ever review a place and want to give it 4 or 5 stars, but have some seemingly minor hang-​up completely kibosh the whole thing? Well, for me, Johnson Drug is that review.
In May my wife and I had our first child. K needed some prescriptions filled and we needed a few things to help take care of our baby who was in the NICU at the time.
At the time, I was in Pharmacy nirvana. They quickly filled my prescriptions and they had all the mother and baby gear we needed. To make things easy, I even brought in insurance contact information and details on coverage for medical devices. When I picked everything up I was a little disconcerted to have a $ 200 invoice, but as I had brought in REAMS of paperwork I figured it was just my deductible.
Fast forward… turns out they overcharged me. This wouldn’t be a big deal, but everything was paid for with Flex spending and getting the credit back was a nightmare.
The mess all began with a careless mistake and hang-​ups with the credit were compounded by additional mistakes. All in all, we have spent a vast amount of time trying to clear all this up.
Johnson seemed like it might have been a great place for friendly staff, quick pharmacy services, and a enormous selection of alternative health care items, but their attention to detail, and I would have to deduce, their ability to listen to their customers is abysmal. I’m not sure I’m willing to give them another shot.
