I’ve been coming here a long time. The people have always been very nice and the service is always good. The space is clean and comfortable. The prices are great and the sushi is solid. Now, I’m not going to claim that the sushi is inspired or in some way extraordinary– it’s not. But it is GOOD. Consistently. In particular, their salmon nigiri is always fresh and almost buttery in texture. The unagi is pretty good but I usually ask for less eel sauce. The yellowtail roll is classic the size is generous and filling. Really, in general the sushi is very, well– solid. I don’t get the«specialty» rolls and they aren’t as good of a value anyway. Really, I just appreciate having a nice place to have a tasty, heart healthy lunch right next to my workplace(Mt. SAC) for less than $ 15.

People are serious about the size of these things! I ordered a tuna, salmon, and albacore sushi($ 2.50 for two pieces each) and they took up more space on the plate than a full roll at most of the places that I’ve been to. A nice little place for a bite between classes. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

Delicious sushi! We had the dragon roll, a sashimi salad and another roll. Really good. They give you more than most sushi places. The rolls are quite big. Really good. The dragon was cooked perfectly. I’ve eaten a lot of sushi and this one actually stood out, in the sense that there was more eel on it than most places put. The salad was good, refreshing and the dressing was delicious. Can’t wait to be back!

It was good food but the service wasn’t the best, we ordered sake, water and soup right off the back. We never got our waters or our soups till after our entre’s where we had to ask her if she forgot about our soup and other appetizers we ordered, she told us it takes a long time… i would understand if it was busy and it was just this one server taking the whole floor but there was only 4 other tables with us which made myself and my girlfriend frustrated. In the future I will give it another chance

I have been searching for a good local sushi place for a while now and finally found this little gem. Funny thing is that I’ve seen it for years but from the outside, it really doesn’t entice interest. Anyway, decided to give it a shot and it did not disappoint! Fish is FRESH… yellowtail and albacore are buttery bomb! I also appreciate the everyday/all day happy hour beer/wine. It is VERY casual/simple inside so don’t expect an exciting vibe but I think it has a really nice comfy feel and I like that about it. It also has a few tvs inside, usually sports games are on. As far as service goes, I’ve been there 4 times now and only once did I feel like they were taking a lil long… but it wasn’t tooooooo bad. Also, there is one server lady who is a bit quiet/unfriendly… but it doesnt bother me because i love the food and the great prices! Overall– Definitely a great quality spot for locals! It’s my new go-to sushi place for sure!

Amazing sushi spot! My girlfriend and i come here atleast 3 times a month and have absolutely no complaints! We usually get the spicy tuna roll, baked lobster roll, and baked muscles. All so fresh and tasty! The food does take longer than normal to be prepared, but can’t rush a good job! A+ for Sake!

This is absolutely the best sushi at a good price. We get the shrimp tempera, ice green tea, hot sake and Supporo beer(for sake bombs) and we always switch it up with their sushi it’s all great! So we brought our aunt here cause we always have a good time we didn’t get our usual server we got the new girl and she was completely lost! Poor girl was running around and forgot lots of stuff. Before our aunt got there my boyfriend took the cake so we can surprise her after we wer done eating. So we asked the server to bring out the cake to surprise our aunt and she brought it in the box(fail!!!) We thought she was going to put a birthday candle at least. So we asked a candle and she brought a t light candle hahaha! So we knew she wasn’t going to sing. So my boyfriend got up and had the whole Restaurant to sing to her. Any way not the best service but great food at a good price.

I LOOOVE sake sushi! Ever since I’ve started school at Mt. SAC, I only eat here in between classes. Their $ 3.50 rolls are so filling, but really I’m here for their crazy roll! The salmon here especially tastes really buttery and nice, I’m always tempted to order sashimi. The waitresses here are really nice, the one that always sees me remembers my usual order. She always asks whether you want miso or ice cream, but be cautious since since it’s not free haha! But she’s so sweet and will always check if you have enough water! This place is the least busy in the afternoon, in my opinion. But I don’t know about weekends!

By far the worst service you can possibly get. I asked for some lemons two times and the second time i asked she said i don’t have time to cut them. The food service is also very slow. They have very lazy slow workers with major attitudes and no respect for customers. The only good thing about this place is the $ 3 rolls and how cheap they are. If you do decide to come and eat here expect to wait a long time for your drinks and food and don’t expect her to get you lemons either.

Terrible service. I’m a college student so the only reason I go here is for the $ 3 rolls

Always love to eat sushi here. The waitress is friendly and super sweet. Every time we come we order the caterpillar roll(pictured), Mexican roll, and California roll! We come to eat here at least once a week. Service is great. Food is delish and happy hour mon-Sunday all day(not that we get it but in case)

I come here with my mother a lot, sometimes bring the kiddos. We have yet to get assaulted by the waitress or owner, and after coming here for 5 years they’ve never chased my kids out. People please use critical thinking, I highly doubt they would chase any customer out if they were not provoked. And why would you NEED to be chased out? Restaurants have the right to refuse service. If an owner or waitress tells you to get out(because obviously there is more to the story than you just seating there peacefully and then suddenly them attacking you), you should have probably left when they told you to instead of them having to chase you out. Oh goodness, the downside and curse of Unilocal, haha. Anyways, onto the sushi. This is a cheap place to grab a bite of some cheap sushi. Don’t expect anything fabulous. It’s across from Mt. SAC, so it’s nice just to get some food in between classes(they have a TV which usually plays sitcoms or sports — somehow I’m always in when it’s showing«Everybody Loves Raymond», love that show haha). If you want a suggestion… You HAVE to try the Yellow Dragon, it’s sooo good. It’s drizzled in some orange type of sauce that is so delicious! I believe this is a family owned restaurant because I sometimes see their kids here working on homework and it’s always the same waitress(nice gal, but like another reviewer said I think she is just shy). Don’t be afraid to flag her down to ask for stuff like the receipt. I know a lot of people complain about the service but I think they are expecting some high class avenue of waiters, keep in mind that this is a small place for cheap sushi. It’s always clean and service is usually fast(unless it’s dinner type on a Saturday night or something and they’re packed, like I said — usually). I have to hand it to the waitress because it seems she is ALWAYS there(obviously works long shifts), and I don’t think she ever tries to purposely be rude but maybe she’s just tired. Like I said, I’ve been going here for about 5 years and I know that it’s just not like her to pop attitude or start confrontation. I think the regulars here appreciate the place more than those who stop by just once and expect the place to be something else(if you want Katsuya service and food, you’re going to have to drive yourself to LA/Hollywood).

We got lucky and had a male server who was quick and friendly. The food is moderately priced, and I’d give the food 2.5 out of 5 stars. Its cheap and really close to home or I’d probably never some back. Lastly. I REALLY like Vanilla moshi. I asked if they served it, the waiter told us they did, but when I ordered it he came back a few minutes later to tell us they were out. Def not a good first impression.

I should have taken the waitress’ disrespectful behavior towards the customers sitting next to us as a sign to not eat here, Instead I stayed. The waitress and OWNER then harassed my 1year son, chased us outside, and threatened us. I called the cops as she harassed me by recording me on her phone unnecessarily close to my face. When I moved her phone out of my face she attacked me and assaulted. I left wit deep cut wounds on my chest, my son crying from fear as the waitress opened my backseat door of my car, and my fiancé moving the OWNER before his hit landed on my face as he attempted. I’m sure this is enough said, so eat here at your risk.

I really don’t have much to say, honestly most of the food we ordered was great! Don’t order the baked scallop roll though because it was just fill it cream and broke apart so easily. We had to eat it with a spoon! It brings me ultimate sadness when I have to eat rolls with a spoon. But the food wasn’t terrible, the service I heard is bad at this place. Well it was half true because our waiter seemed kinda of miserable. She seemed like she couldn’t wait to get off her shift even though it wasn’t busy at all and it was lunch time. Cheap beer though! Change your server’s attitudes, revamp your menu a bit and you’ll be golden!

I was desperate for some beer today so I figured the nearest Japanese restaurant would have some. I was right. A lot of people rated this place for its bad service but I have no idea what you guys are taking about. I mean… The waitress wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t like she was trying to piss me off. She just seems shy. Besides, I’m here for the food. I ordered the baked scallop roll and salmon sashimi. My buddy ordered the ichi roll. Before our orders came out, we received a large amount of hot edamame… That’s new. It’s usually served cold but ok. I got the miso soup as a starter. It was. Different. It was a lot sweeter than most so it was awkward trying to drink it. My salmon sashimi was pretty good but it seemed like it has been out for a while. Not very fresh. My baked scallop roll was burnt on top :(I don’t know how but they somehow made it taste and smell like sausage. Impressed but not what I ordered. Presentation wasn’t nice either. Looked like my 6 year old cousin threw it all together on a plate. My friend’s ichi roll was the bad kind of chewy and the avocados were sort of bruised. On the bright side, beer is half off. Advertised as «Happy Hour Monday-Sunday 50% off!» So I guess you get cheap beer all day everyday. Yay Asahi! Overall, two stars based strictly on food. Service, meh.

I ordered the $ 6.99 lunch special at 3:20pm this afternoon. Got the spicy tuna and California hand cut rolls because I am a pansy. The combo came with 6 of each sushi, a side of rice, a side of salad, and a side of miso soup. Definitely worth the price! The sushi wasn’t really that good. I mean just look at the picture I posted. Lol… The salad and rice were ok, and the miso soup was amazing. It was kept fresh and hot as this was a take out order. Only thing I would order here again is that soup. The staff was friendly. They greeted me as I walked in like I was lost in the smallest restaurant in town. There were only a couple customers in there at the time when I walked in. My food was ready within five minutes. I initially thought this wasn’t going to be enough food, but is definitely more than enough.
