Amazing amazing chocolates. We always got them as presents and they are amazing. I would love to visit the store sometime soon.

This place was perfect. I always drive by when I’m on my lunch break or just around Walnut in general. I finally had a reason to come here as I had a friend’s bday to go to and I thought this was the best present. When I stop by during my lunch break, I was disappointed that they were close. I sent an email and was replied back really quickly. The owner Elizabeth told me that she only have a few different fresh chocolate ready but not enough to open the store. She then offered to open the store for me to pick up my order as a special exception. That was very kind of her. I ordered the 35 piece chocolate and the packaging was very cool. She also offer 2 samples for me to try out. I have to say the chocolate was pretty amazing. Needless to say, my friend loves the chocolate.

Love the chocolates. Got a one full minute of mouthful flavors from a small piece of sample. Purchased a two-​tier, 8 pcs gift box for my son’s teacher birthday, and another 8 pcs for us. It took my two boys more than 5 minutes to pick the ones they like, so you know how pretty they all are.
Either for a little treat or any special occasion, this is one place you have to visit.
Call before you go. The summer schedule is a little irregular.

Holy moly this place! Went in and the woman before me was placing her order and paid $ 80 for 12 pieces of chocolate. I think she saw my eyes widen lol.
The ambiance is really quite exotic considering it’s a chocolate place. The place is very dim and display many if their chocolates even samples next to the cash register. Prices are very expensive and portions are small. They must put much love in creating their chocolates!
I grabbed a box of Belgian dino milk chocolates because it was actually the cheapest thing I can buy (i know :[) But hey, I least I bought something right?!
All in all, even though it is quite expensive, just remember you are paying for the quality of the chocolate and the design.

Oh my goodness~ I’ve been patiently waiting their reopening to taste these gorgeous chocolates… And They are absolutely HEAVENLY. The textures and flavors are so refined and smooth.
Completely deserving of their chocolate awards.
The store hours and location can be a little inconvenient for some but if you love and appreciate good chocolate~ DEFINITELY try this place.
I will be coming back for more in the future. (Especially since they are in my area ^ ^)

Yes! They’re back from a long break!
The only gripe I would have is the odd times that they’re open but I’m guessing most of the business received is done through phone or online and it’s probably with big events.
But I’ve managed to score yet another box of Petit-​Dinos ($ 5 for 4 cute pieces of dinosaur chocolatey goodness) :)
I was given a roasted banana truffle as a sample — to be honest, I tend to avoid anything banana tasting unless it’s the fruit itself. One hesitant bite later, I actually found it pretty good. I expected the typical artificial banana taste but this was pretty understated yet aromatic.
I’ve been meaning to try the chocolate dipped orange peels but I suppose I’ll get them another day (they’re pretty pricey).
So even with a long break, it’s still as good as I remember :)

When we first started dating, my husband sent these chocolates to me on almost all occasions. Though the gesture is oh-​so-​very sweet of him, I’ve concluded that the chocolates are… ehhhhhh. My sweet hubby and I agreed that we’ve had better else where. These make wonderful last minutes gifts. I’ve collected so many of their special red boxes that I am able to create my DIY earring cases.

Stumbled upon this Chocolate dream as we were driving down to have breakfast at Sugar Rush. I saw the name and searched for it on my phone to see what it was about, but it said it was closed on Sundays. After breakfast we stopped by so I could see in the window… The owner was there with a private party and ushered me in… to my delight the chocolates heaven. I will be going back again and again for special occasions. They chocolates may be considered expensive… but they are worth every penny. Handmade and delightful.

Best chocolate ever! I would say it’s better than Fouchon and La Maison du Chocolate. I see some reviews saying the chocolates are expensive but I really think you get what you pay for. For hand crafted chocolates, that is a very good price. Service is always great and you get to choose different packaging. I had order from them over the phone also, and the chocolates arrived in excellent condition. I always look forward to their new flavors which is something beyond anyone’s imagination how good they are. Great gifts for any occasion.

Stopped by today to see if there were any chocolates with an Easter theme — I was in luck! They have chocolate eggs and a really cute trio of bunnies in dark and milk chocolate. A great place to get a unique gift for the holiday!

So worth the VALUE! Recently found this «Diamond in the Rough» and so, so happy I did. Previously, I would have to drive out to the Westside of LA, not anymore. We have a fantastic «Chocolatier» in our own backyard. Within the past few months I purchased Chocolates for Valentines Day and my Wife’s Birthday and nothing but pure happiness and joy from her. The Owner Liz even stayed open for me a little longer than she normally does on a Saturday (Thanks!) and gave me her personal services. She made me feel so special, here personal and professional touch was over-​the-​top,
I’m so appreciative «The Nordstoms of Chocolatier’s». You must visit and see her shop, so exquisite (don’t let the outside fool you). Not only her Chocolates taste fantastic, but her packaging is so «Dazzling», presentation is everything!

I’m not entirely sure how I should review this awkward place in an even more awkward location.
I stumbled upon this while returning my Enterprise rental and saw the dreamy word, «Chocolatier.» I stood outside for quite awhile contemplating whether or not to enter; the A grade from the health department and the bright neon OPEN sign didn’t really entice me to go in, it was more of the dark shades, tinted, blocked windows that said, «Come in, I don’t bite.» (Oh, and a lovely woman told me to go in while I was standing in the middle of the parking lot)
Upon entering, I felt like I entered a different space continuum, it doesn’t look like anything outside, but inside, it was chic, modern and something out of a luxury magazine (been there done that). This place reminds me of the specialty chocolate stores in Las Vegas, somewhere in the Venetian or Wynn. I was definitely out of place, in my brother’s PE shorts and a printed shirt that says, «I’m SO Talented.»
The lady was nice, gave a sample and explained her shop, but I felt and knew that she wasn’t going to take me seriously and there I stood feeling unimportant. After giving me the sample she was quick to dismiss me and returned to her work station in the back.
And although I only had a sample of a truffle, it was surprisingly light and decadent. The prices are definitely over the top, especially in a location unfavorable to most, and for flavors that are classified as ordinary. I saw the chocolates, heard the chocolates as I tasted them, and felt the chocolates, but I didn’t smell it at all. I think that was one of the drawbacks of the store, you just couldn’t smell a thing, bummer.
However, I believe this is a cool place to check out whether you’re a chocolate fan or not, and why not? They really don’t bite.

I only went here because of the Groupon that I had purchased. You don’t expect that this high-​end chocolate place to be located on Valley Blvd in Walnut. It’s very industrial. When you walk in, it’s nothing like it is on the outside (photos of it help, or use google maps to see!). It’s like walking into a jewelry store. It’s around $ 3 for a piece of chocolate the size of a nickel but it might be one of the best chocolates that I have ever tasted.
The groupon I purchased only included 3 different truffles and I would say the Parisian and the Champagne truffles were my favorite of the three. The Parisian is a double-​layered chocolate truffle with a hint of citrus and crunchy bits on the inside. The texture of this truffle is amazing and the citrus is a nice subtle touch.
If you are willing to splurge on good chocolate, this is the place to go. They also have a lot of gift packs so it’s a good place to go to buy a gift.

First thing’s first, the chocolates are VERY expensive, $ 2.25 a piece, $ 18 for 8 piece regular box, $ 20 8 piece signature box, $ 42 20 piece signature box, $ 70 35 piece signature box. And each piece is no bigger than ~2 cm. So don’t go there expecting See’s or even Godiva prices.
Also, don’t be confused with other reviews regarding booths and chocolate conventions. The main storefront in Walnut had an extremely helpful and patient person assist us and the chocolates were top notch.
That said, I considered giving 4 stars because of the price, but the quality and service really matched the price. The storefront is next to an Enterprise Car Rental in a cookie cutter business complex. Once you step inside however, you’ll wonder when you got to Rodeo Dr. The décor is exquisite and minimalist, with the chocolates displayed in front of you under a glass table and gift boxes displayed on glass shelves along the wall. Even choosing your chocolates matches the high class ambience, with the person putting on gloves and holding a silver platter to handle your chosen chocolates.
I got the Groupon 8 piece truffle sampler (Praline Orange, Congnac, and Champagne). The outer shell was thin and had a pleasant snap when bitten. The center was very creamy, unlike other truffles which are usually more «chewy» in texture.
I also grabbed a 20 piece set. You can choose any chocolates under the glass counter (approx 36 choices) for your set. The only negative about choosing was only a few of the name cards had descriptions of what the chocolate was. The rest we had to ask. The girl helping us was very kind and patient though, and walked us through each chocolate and its contents. The chocolates were some of the best I’ve had. Each had a complex characteristic I can only describe as similar to wine tasting, with multiple flavors combining with aromas that fill your mouth when you bite into it.
If you are a chocolate lover, you’ll definitely need to check this place out. It’s an extra godsend for those who live this far east from LA/​Beverly Hills and want specialty chocolates without fighting traffic.

I usually am not motivated to write reviews, but I must say that Ciel’s definitely has good service! I wanted to order a gift box set of chocolates for a birthday of a chocolate lover and was pleasantly assisted over the phone. Elizabeth was very friendly and considerate even though I myself am not quite educated about chocolates. She found the quickest and cheapest way for me to ship my gift and even wrote a happy birthday card for the chocolate lover.
As for the flavor and presentation, the recipient is extremely happy with the packaging as well as the chocolates. (Although they did comment that the chocolates are smaller than comparable brand names)
Definitely a good experience with Ciel’s. It is at minimum worth a try.

I’m not a chocolate feind but I know when I taste something exceptional. The truffles were beautiful inside and out :). Very fancy-​shmancy. If you have a chocolate lover in your life, skip Sees and Godiva go to Ciel.

This company had it’s booth out there…
Let’s start…
1) They had an amazing long display of chocolates @ their booth +1
BUT you couldn’t try any of the displayed chocolates, you only had a SMALL selection that you can try.
Compared to the other booths, where you could try so many different types of other company’s chocolates… BOOO! =(
2) The line to this company’s booth was LONG… then at the end of the line, there’s this Chinese guy that says to me, only 1 sample of chocolate per person…& he meant ONLY 1 =(-1
NOT only that, he cuts SMALL TINY portions of the chocolates for each person to try. =(-1
FYI, other booths were letting customers sample as many of their chocolates & people were BUYING a LOT from their booths. BUT NOT from this 1…
3) The guy then tells all of the people in line that if we want more than 1 sample, we have to get BACK in the LONG line to get another SMALL sample. =(-1
TOTAL FAIL here, if people are gonna pay $ 20– $ 30/​pp tickets to go to an event like this, they WANT to TRY the chocolates, & they WANT to BUY chocolates here.
it’s also GREAT advertisement & exposure for all of the companies here.
if you were a SMART business owner, you’d let people sample as many (not all you can eat) as they’d want & NOT be so CHEAP about it… =(
The chocolates here do NOT impress me @ all. I’ve had much MUCH better @ other places…
as for the service. TOTAL FAIL…

I get chocolate shipments from relatives in Europe & chocolates over there are NOT as pricey as the 1s here & taste so MUCH MUCH better than MOST of the chocolates here in the US. =)

I bought an assorted box of chocolates here as a gift but I ended up eating them. Unfortunately, chocolate is my weakness and these chocolates were just delightful.
The store is so clean I was afraid of touching anything but the chocolates are beautiful to see and they taste just as good as they look.

Everything is perfect there! It’s amazing how the owner can make such great chocolate, especially with so many different kinds of flavor. The best chocolate I ever have and I told all my friends I will only eat Ciel Chocolate, no other brand.
Ingredients are always fresh. There isn’t any flavor that I don’t like, love the Violette, the Honey lavender, Earl Grey Bergamot, szechuan peppercorns, butter ganache, the French four spices. You can really taste the different flavor.
Also highly recommend is the dark chocolate Mendiants, the nuts and dried fruits on top makes it a healthy snack! Citronette is also my favorite, something you can’t find elsewhere.
