The Windsor

This is a very nice apt complex located. In downtown WC. I know that I need to move back to CCC I am just not sure when it is going to happen.
Marlon is the man, he took me on the tour. We saw the 1bed 1bath model which is quite spacious. One thing that really amazed me… NO FREEWAY NOISE.

Well taken care of grounds, professional and attentive staff. I looked at several properties in Walnut Creek and this one was the best taken care of, best managed and best value. Marlon and Andrea at the office are great. Stuart, Mitchell and the maintenance staff are prompt and efficient. Great place to live.

I moved into the Windsor in August of 2014 and moved out in December of 2015. I have nothing but good things to say about the apartment I lived in, the building, and especially the staff. Marlon, Andrea, Stuart and Mitch are the greatest. Any problems are handled in record time. The walls are
very well soundproofed. I never heard my neighbors beside, above or below me and everyone was really friendly. The location is wonderful. Easy walk to downtown Walnut Creek. I would highly recommend the Windsor Apartment Homes.

Great place to live! I have previously lived in several WC complexes, and this one, by far exceeds all the others. The grounds are impeccably kept and the complex is well-​maintained. The Management team is professional, welcoming and attentive to your needs. You are treated as a person and not solely a unit number. I would recommend the Windsor to anyone looking to move in the WC area! Great job guys!

I have lived here for almost 2 years and love it. I wouldnt want to live anywherw else.

So far so good! Keep up the good work! We have been here for about 3 weeks so far and have found the staff to be very responsive and kind. Property is clean and well maintained.

Beautiful apartment building, awesome amenities, great community space, and friendly managers. We love how easy it is to walk to downtown Walnut Creek and to the BART.

New management is so much better! My concerns are dealt with in a timely manner and I feel as though they hear me.
The Maintenance staff seems to really know what they are doing and are always willing to help whenever possible. This place a has truly turned around.
My only complaint is the security. I have a loud neighbor and when I call they don’t seem to do anything about it.

Well, we just moved out and I was compelled to write a follow-​up on our whole experience:
The staff that moved us in almost completely turned over during our stay there, but the changes were all improvements. Andrea and Mike are super accommodating, and the maintenance crew lead by Stuart, are on top of it.
The entire atmosphere here is welcoming, high-​quality, you feel like you’re a person not a unit number and that they care, which may sound cheesy, but considering the apartment we moved TO, is really worth it’s weight in gold.
There is really only one thing we found that we didn’t like about living here and that was the lack of closets in the units. For some weird reason, there’s only one medium-​sized closet in the 1 bedroom we rented. We made it work and really, we knew going in that’s what we’d get, so, it was on us to choose differently if it had really been a problem.
I can’t say enough good things about this complex and the management. I wish we could have stayed and I’m fairly certain they will go down as the #1 apartment I’ve lived in in CA out of eight.

I just moved out of the Windsor this past weekend, and it was incredibly hard to leave this place behind. I have lived in 13 different apartment complexes over the last 13 years and this place was absolutely the pinnacle of my apartment dwelling experiences so far.
The staff here is outstanding. Michael, Andrea, Stuart, and Mitch were all so incredible during my entire duration at the Windsor. They took customer service to a completely new level for the rental hospitality industry. Michael and Andrea accommodated every request we made, not only were they super friendly to me and my spouse, but they extended their kindness and hospitality to my family as well when they would visit from out of town. They helped my parents with parking, reserved bbq areas for us, helped us with extra keys, the list goes on and on.
Mitch and Stuart do an incredible job of maintaining the property. I never had an issue with cleanliness or broken amenities. The grounds are very well kept. I had also seen Mitch many times late at night helping out with a stuck garage door or anything else a resident may need. Stuart gave us a bunch of moving blankets for our moving day, and also lent us a dolly for the heavy items. We didn’t even have to ask! He just stopped by and donated these things.
The apartments themselves were spacious and pretty quiet. The use of the amenities at the Marriott were an absolute bonus.
You can’t go wrong living in this community. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. If I am ever living in the Walnut Creek area again you can be sure that I’ll be checking out the Windsor again!

When I first moved here, everything was great. It’s quite brand new, quiet and the neighbors were nice. There was also security patrol that will go around during daytime and at night time. Fast forward a few months later, everything went downhill…
As another reviewer pointed out below, we now have rowdy neighbors (plural, not singular) that play loud music during weekdays, worse during weekends. Smoking, screaming and yelling at the balcony. The worse is that the design of the unit is such that you are «sharing» your balcony. Think of a long balcony that is cut in half. The middle part have a wall that is only a waist high and nothing else. The left part is your unit, the right part is your neighbor. Now, you’re next door neighbor is partying all night long. What do you think will happen to you? Not enough sleep, agitated, etc.etc. I tried to bring this up to the management team, but it fell to deaf ear.
Oh, and the security patrol STOPPED showing up. I never seen them anymore. Had they been around, they probably could stop these rowdy neighbors.
Guest parking is supposed to be for 2 hours only, but people parked overnight and all day. Management is onsite Monday to Saturday and nothing is being done. So if you have guest, they won’t be able to park here.
I really like living in this place but the situation has deteriorated to the point that I’ll be moving out soon. If only management will bring back the security patrol AND enforce the guest parking limit…

** First I’d like to say that the rating on here is seriously skewed, please look at the filtered reviews; they are definitely monitoring these pages and trying to remove the unflattering, honest ones.
I lived here from early 2013-​early 2014. I was attracted to the nice, quality apartments and the peace and quiet of living in Walnut Creek. At first, things were great, however, as many others mentioned, the shift in management really caused a decline in quality. They must have ran some sort of white-​trash special because my neighbors went from professionals to people who I witnessed having sex on the balcony (only because they woke me up at 3am). I escalated that situation to management who told me it was my word against theirs so she could do nothing.
While it’s a non-​smoking apartment complex, that certainly doesn’t stop anyone from smoking. I had to keep my door and window closed at all times, otherwise, my apartment REEKED of cigarettes, which is repulsive to someone who does not smoke. I complained, and even provided photos of the people who were smoking below me, yet management shrugged it off and did nothing.
Management doing nothing seems to be a common theme from the amount of people complaining about parking, unclean hallways, etc. Once a neighbor posted a rant in the elevators regarding managements unfair treatment of tenants… I can’t say I blame them.
The final straw was a garbage truck that came by from 4−6am (depending on the day) and backed up, causing a loud beeping sound that could wake the deepest of sleepers. I asked management, who pretty much rolled her eyes at me and did nothing. I was so desperate, I called the Motel 6 manager to beg him to change their schedule. While he was much more receptive to my complaints than the woman sitting in the leasing office, he let me know there was nothing he could do.
Basically, we decided for the amount of rent we paid, we could do much better, or at least find a place where you’re treated like a human being. We did, and moved immediately. When we moved out, we were told we’d get half our deposit back. Not only did they take all $ 400 (for literally, our perfectly clean apartment), but they charged us an additional hundred or so dollars for «damages.» We were going to fight, but would rather never deal with these scummy people so we paid and washed our hands of the Windsor and it’s AWFUL, awful management staff.
OVERALL: Do not move here, especially with such great alternatives nearby!

We were told by the Winsor manager that we could get $ 89 per night at the Marriot hotel for our guess. We were also told we could get dry cleaning done, ordered food to our door, use the swimming pool and the gym from the Marriot Hotel… The Winsor made it sound like we were going to live as if we were at a resort, with bicycles available for the tenants, and more… and that is how they justified their high rent prices.
When we called the Marriot to book a couple of nights for our guess; they did not know what I was talking about. It is a big fat lie that Winsor managers use to make the Winsor rent desirable… This happened to a lot of tenants but they don’t complain so managers keep using it.
The apartments are small and do not enough have storage, the closet is so small and uncomfortable.
The area around the building has so much dog poop. It is a miracle if you step outside and do not bring poop on your shoes to you beautiful carpet.
You can’t enjoy the balcony if you face N. Main St; it collects so much smoke that if you walk on it stains the carpet and it will be taken from your deposit. You have a couple of choices: wash the balcony every 3 days or more often if possible, live with a very dirty carpet, or do not go to a balcony that you are paying for it.
Security is a joke… they will be rude to you when you need them, tell you that they are on their way to help you NEVER show up.
THE WORSE!!! Every time the Marriot hotel decides to install an «emergency air condition» for their guess they will put it right next to your apparent window… This Machine is huge makes a loud noise day and night. It does not let you sleep and there is nothing you can do.
NOISE…NOISE…NOISE… Marriot pick up trash is about 4:00Am so you will be hearing a beeping noise for a while with a couple of slamming metal… after you go back to sleep around 6:00 AM you will hear the same noise again when they collect the Winsor trash…
Read this because the manager will not tell you about…
You are lucky if there is a manager when you need it but, be comfortable, she will roll her eyes at you when you «bother her» asking for something.
It is not worth the money spent on rent at the Winsor and the headaches you get with management.
There are better places…

I moved into The Windsor in October 2012 and lived there for a year. I would have stayed longer but had to move to Southern California for work. I absolutely loved living at The Windsor. The property is newer so the units all have nice appliances and granite countertops. The common areas are kept clean and the courtyard is nicely landscaped. There are also two fully furnished rooftop decks with BBQ’s. And lastly the location is awesome, right off the freeway and close to downtown Walnut Creek.
As for the management, I never had any issues. Alvaro helped me when I was moving in, it was a fast process and I felt very welcomed. Esther helped me with moving out and did what she could to get my unit rented faster so in return I was able to move out ASAP. The maintenance team was always nice and responded to service calls quickly.
Other perks are you’re able to request maintenance and pay rent via their online portal, and you have free access to the Marriott’s pool and gym which is located next door.

Have been living here for almost a year now and have absolutely loved the experience.
The staff (Esther, Leah and Mitch) are friendly and quick to respond to any issues.
The gym is well equipped, the premises clean and well maintained.
This definitely is one of the best apartment complex in Walnut Creek.

Very sad that I have to write this long lengthy review about how I am displeased with the management and The Windsor but it is important for the future renters and current renters. I give The Windsor 2 stars only because we did like our unit and enjoyed the discounted prices at the Marriott Hotel for brunch and rooms for our staying guests.
Living:
We lived at the Windsor since Aug. 2010 and Moved out on Sep 18^th 2013.
We loved our apartment on the 3^rd floor it was nice, closet was too small, and we couldn’t use our balcony because it is always covered in black dirt but over all we were satisfied with what we had. It was nice to be able to use the upstairs BBQ areas (we used them once for a birthday and 3 other times just to BBQ our dinner when my parents were visiting). There was almost always dog pee in the path to the elevator and once even dog poop… on the 3^rd Floor!
Parking:
Isn’t that great we paid for an extra spot because we have 2 cars (extra $ 75 a month). Parking is in a gated garage which is nice. Someone always parked their car in the drive way area in the garage which always got on my nerves only because I paid $ 75 a month so that I could park my car. I think the person was giving her spot up to a guest because guest parking is almost impossible for more then 2 hrs.
MANAGEMENT: (AND THIS IS WHERE I’LL BEGIN MY RANT)
We have been through 3 changes in management. The first manager was GREAT! Then the second was good too… the third is where that ends.
Leading up to our departure I called in to find out how the move out policy went. I first talked to Leah who I asked what happens if we move out in the middle of the month and when do we get our deposit back?
She told me that if we left 2 weeks before the month was up that we would be reimbursed for the prorated amount of days in the month that we had already paid for plus our deposit minus the cost of any damages that needed to be fixed. Then she checked to see what our deposit amount was which was $ 700. I repeated it all back to her just to make sure that I understood what she had said and she confirmed that it was correct.
The day before I move out I tell Esther that we are going to be all moved out by the early afternoon the next day. She then mentions that we were supposed to give them a 30 day notice that we were moving out. I told her the conversation that I had with Leah in detail and she said that she would ask her about it and get back to me. The next day I turned in our keys to Leah and let her know we were all moved out. Then I see Esther in the parking lot as I am getting ready to leave and I ask her if she got the information from Leah. Esther told me that she had talked to Leah and that she didn’t recall that conversation… OH REALLY??? Hmmm ok! Esther informs me of the TRUE protocol of moving out! (We were paying month to month at this point so we were not in a 1 year contract anymore) Which is… 30 day notice and if you move out sooner then you are responsible for 1 month rent or until they find the perfect person to rent your unit to.
This correct information should have been given to us the first time. They were not willing to go by what Leah told me the first time and in fact I asked to have the contact information for corporate so I could call and talk to them… I was told that Esther was talking to her Supervisor and that she would get back to me… that never happened instead multiple phone calls and emails that I had sent where never replied to until Oct. 9^th when I received an EMAIL titled «Move Out Statement»… «With your previous apartment being re-​leased… there is a balance on the account… responsible to pay 13 prorated days + a difference in previous rate and new MTM rate caused be non-​renewal…» That is A LOT DIFFERENT then receiving a reimbursement for the days we paid and didn’t stay AND our deposit back!
NEVER was the first conversation I had with Leah EVER addressed and when I asked for corporates’ contact information once again I was given an email to Resident Services:
. Then when I asked for their supervisors contact information my email was never responded to.
I AM VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE WAY OUR MOVE OUT WAS HANDLED!!!
We were great tenants, paid on time, respected our unit, and the building complex…

NO GUEST PARKING!
They have about 15 spots for guests with 2 hour maximum parking during business hours. They are VERY strict with this policy. They slap a sticker on your windshield after two hours as a «warning» that is near impossible to remove from your window without adhesive remover. THEN your car will be towed an hour later, this is not a warning at all! I’ve been towed 3 TIMES while visiting a resident for parking for a short 3 hours. Office staff is not at all sorry, in fact, I think they enjoy it.
Seriously, give a $ 50 ticket to visitors rather than a $ 300 tow. This is JUST as effective and won’t piss off your current residents and guests.
Office staff are worried about having parking for future residents during business hours; however, they should really be worried about keeping their current tenants, especially since they charge an additional $ 200/​month for «apartment services» on top of your rent.
EVERYONE is upset and loud altercations between office staff and residents has become a daily ritual.
DO NOT LIVE HERE, YOUR GUESTS WILL BE TOWED!

My wife and I lived here for 1 year while working in San Francisco. My wife convinced me to move in here because I thought it was too expensive. After living here I am very happy my wife convinced me to move in.
Pros:
Staff — 5 star service and quality people. The property managers, Shannan and Alvaro were quick to responding to our needs and maintenance requests.
Location — About a 10 minute walk to the BART station.
Safety — I never once saw any «creepers» in the parking garage or in the hallways. Just the opposite everyone I met was friendly and respectful. Other apartment complexes in Pleasant Hill/​Walnut Creek have had molestation charges — so safety was a big concern for me.
Amenities– Access to the pool and fitness center at the Marriott next door. There is also a fitness center in the apartment complex. Both fitness centers have personal TV screens hooked up to the treadmills, free-​weights, elliptical, and weight lifting machines.
Room — Marble and granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom. Spacious rooms.
Paying Rent — automated payment system instead of checks is very convenient. Never worry about forgetting to write checks.
Cons:
Location — located on a busy street with heavy traffic most of the day. There is a freeway off– ramp right up the street and cars don’t slow down enough.
Overall would highly recommend this complex to anyone asking.

I decided a while back that my first Unilocal review would be for something that I felt very passionately about, and the Windsor Apartments is definitely worthy of my first. The fiancé and I moved in about a year ago, and we both agree that this apartment complex is the best that either one of us has ever stayed at. We chose the smallest one bedroom apartment, which at approximately 750 sq. ft., is still quite roomy for two people. With the stand-​alone island in the kitchen to the enormous bathroom with a two-​sink vanity, we really felt like we were living in luxury during the past year. Everything looked practically brand-​new because this apartment complex was built just a few years ago. My fiancé has a nice car and motorcycle, so it was nice that this apartment complex offers gated garage parking as well.
But in addition to the amenities and apartment itself, the people and service here are FANTASTIC. The apartment managers, Shannon and Alvaro, seem to have memorized just about every resident’s name and are always quick to resolve problems. They really seem to care about the residents here, even offering free breakfasts on Sundays in the past, and occasional wine and cheese gatherings up on the rooftop.
We’ll be moving again at the end of this lease, but I’m really going to miss this place. I’m also going to miss utilizing the free gym and pool access at the Marriott right next door (complimentary to all Windsor residents)! So if you’re looking for a nice apartment to stay at in Walnut Creek, definitely check this place out! You won’t regret that you did. =)

You can use your gas/​electric grill! And they also have a grill on the top floor for people to use!
