If I could give minus stars, I would. Total fail.
Let me first explain that I *like* Subway. I get lunch at one of the stores in Berkeley quite often, and have never been disappointed. I like the fact that they bake the bread onsite, and that your sandwhich is made to order and you can tell them what you want on it.
So, when we were figuring out what to do about lunch for our miniature horse show at Heather Farm Park, we thought, «hey, Subway caters, that would work!»
We decided to get one platter each of Black Forest Ham, Turkey Breast, and Veggie Delight – 15 sandwiches on each platter. According to the receipt, we were supposed to get one «Fresh Fit» platter, one «Flavor Craver» platter, and one «Classic Combo» platter. I don’t know which was which.
We put together a «lunch special» which was a sandwich, a bag of chips, a drink, and a slice of watermelon for $ 5. Our judge and our volunteers receive lunch for free, so we figured we might break even on the food if we had a good turnout at the show.
I was embarassed to ask for money for these sandwiches, and to feed them to our hard-​working volunteers. The «Veggie Delight» was the worst – a bunch of lettuce and a little tomato on what I guess was Italian bread. That was it. Lettuce and tomato. No cheese, no other veggies, just lettuce and tomato. 15 sandwiches for $ 36.
The Black Forest Ham and Turkey Breast weren’t much better. These consisted of a bunch of lettuce a little tomato, and three tiny, paper thin slices of ham or turkey breast on Italian bread. These platters were $ 40 for 15 sandwiches.
Total Fail. I won’t be going back to any Subway for anything any time soon.

I love this subway. They are always so nice and friendly. The sandwiches are always consistent and made nice and neat. The owner is very friendly and nice.

i really love their customer service and sandwiches. They always pile on the right stuff and its pretty consistent every time i go in. They are always very friendly and get it done quick.

The staff sure does work fast and give you exactly what you want. However, what’s up with their frowning face??? I mean, they look like they hate working there or something. Smiling is important in customer service! I hope the manager can read this.

Borderline fast-​food? Maybe. But I am usually in and out quickly, and my orders have almost always been accurate. With all the different options that’s pretty hard to do but the «sandwich artists» have to deal with every possible meat, veggie and bread combination, which must be in the millions, so by now they are probably used to the special orders.
It’s a small lot that they share with three other restaurants, and it doesn’t help when people park there and walk to Trader Joe’s or Kaiser, so maybe off peak hours is best time to go.

Perhaps the best Subway I’ve ever been to. The folks behind the counter are great – and they make great sandwiches!

Again, cannot reiterate how much this is by far the best Subway in the area and maybe the best Subway I have had the opportunity to visit. Keep up the good work!

Great place if you are short on time. Don’t let the line fool you, this staff is fast. Try the chopped salad if you are on a diet. Several times the owner has been there and he is always pleasant– even get free cookies.

Best Subway Restaurant I have ever been to by far. Staff are friendly and the service is exceptional. I recently hosted an event and ordered sandwich party platters from this location. The platters turned out great. Food was so fresh and everyone at the event loved it.

I don’t know what Subway you are talking about. I have been to several Subways. The one in Alamo and Carmel are great. The one on Newell Avenue in Walnut Creek is good. But the one on Locust Avenue in Walnut Creek terrible, I got my usual vegetarian sandwich and the bread was so stale that it was falling apart. The tomatoes were old and mushy! Blech! I will never go back to this Subway. The one star is for the nice employees.

If you are wanting subway in Walnut creek this is the one to go to. They always have great customer service especially the manager, and the sandwiches are always fresh!

Went to this subway and was helped by a well dressed man so I’m assuming it was the owner or manager, he was very nice and took his time making my sandwich, very good experience!

This is the best subway ever! The manager runs the cash register most days and really tries to get to know his customers.

They don’t have a lot of stuff and the ones they have they don’t put much in so I was pretty disappointed with my 4.50 turkey sandwich…

I’ve been to many subways but this one has the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE! This is not your typically subway employees, they are very friendly and fast too. Whoever is the manager is doing a great job because ALL the staff and so nice. The place is clean too. Even when it’s super busy they are fast so it doesn’t take forever to get your food. I recommend to go here!!!

For some reason the owners think that adding ceiling fans will make up for the fact that they no longer turn on the air-​conditioning. This can not be good for the food. I know it is refrigerated from underneath, but no refrigerator can keep up with soaring summer heat in the East Bay. Yesterday it was over 100!

I love me some Subway for lunch! Great walking distance from work and other businesses. They have great employees who actually make the subs look amazing!

Make no mistake — this is not your typical Subway.
I first went to this location due to its proximity to my office. What a surprise! The staff and service here are top-​notch. It’s not a large, loud location. The sandwiches represent a great value.

Recently we stopped by this fresh Subway at the height of the busy lunch hour and were both pleasantly surprised and pleased!
First off, the place is kept sparkling clean and immaculate, so it’s bright, cheery and most welcoming.
Granted, there’s an assembly-​line standard when it comes to the content and quality of Subway sandwiches – personally I prefer Quiznos when it comes to sandwich chains – but that’s hardly the fault of the local franchise owner. Where this shop excels and sets its own standard is by its superior CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Its sandwich-​makers are cheerful, friendly and take the trouble to take great care to pay fastidious attention to how each and every customer orders their sandwich dressed and with what condiments.
Its equally conscientious manager personally greets and checks out each and every customer with a sincere smile. And he isn’t chintzy either.
Unlike the local cheap and petty KFC, this manager doesn’t begrudge a pair of customers exploiting two buy-​1-​get-​1-​FREE 6-​inch sandwich COUPON during the very same visit without any hassel!
Unlike the local cheap and petty KFC, this manager informs all visiting customers that their sandwich combo soda refills are FREE AND UNLIMITED. «You can stay here and drink soda all day if you want to,» he told us! Utterly Unbelievable!
And if that weren’t enough, folks, upon checkout this manager quietly presented us with a warm pouch of not one but TWO complimentary chocolate cookies fresh out of the oven!
Before this visit I’d never been to this particular Subway outlet but now I’ll doubtless go back – frequently!
When a food service place works this hard, going out of its regular routine way to get and keep my patronage, I’ll happily oblige to give it to them – repeatedly, as they deserve!
Run, don’t walk, to this high-​quality customer service-​oriented Subway, but whatever you do, don’t make the mistake of ever passing it by!
