Mount Diablo Lending

DO NOT USE THEM. They are UNETHICAL and dishonest in their practices. They will tell you one thing, and do another. Throughout the entire process I raised questions about the rate, the points (there were not supposed to be any) and fees. Their response was always that that would be addressed on the next round of documents. It finally got to the day to sign and there were still points on the loan. I was told to go ahead with it and they would reimburse us after the fact. Well, after the fact they no longer remember having that conversation or any of the other issues that were brought up. Unfortunately, the most important one was from a phone conversation so I have no documentation but the others I have the email chain but they don’t care. To quote Ramon, «The loan is closed, there is nothing I can do» but it’s more that there is nothing that he wants to do. So much for honesty and customer service. BE WARNED.

Extremely easy process. I noticed all the 1 star reviews on Unilocal had some sort of issue with the person applying (and not Mt. Diablo). I am glad I chose to move forward despite several 1 star reviews. Ramon is prompt with responding to all of my inquiries, and there was never any delay with my process. He and his team were very professional throughout the process (done in less than 30 days).
As long as you have all your stuff ready (and do not have any reason to be denied), and you are also serious about refinancing or looking for a loan, Mt. Diablo is definitely the way to go. I did a cash-​out refinance (house in Hayward CA), and the whole process was done in 24 days! Process is all online so it is extremely convenient. The only time I needed to physically sign anything was with the title company for closing (which is required).

**Also wanted to add… I literally went out of my way to create this positive review. I have not ever posted a review on Unilocal until today. The establishment and team deserves the credit!

I hesitate to write this review since Ramon responds to all reviews that are less than perfect with a book. I don’t have time for that. We just (finally) closed our loan. I think it was two days after the rate lock expired. I submitted all the documents that Ty Cabalsi requested. Then one by one, Eileen continually asked for additional documents and wanted them asap. This is a 441,000 refi on a 785,000 home, A REFI Folks. We’ve lived in this house for 24 years and were just getting a lower rate and lower payment. We have excellent credit scores and excellent credit. I have done this before, not my first rodeo. I left messages and emails for Ty and Eileen and all but one email from Eileen went unanswered. I received a call on Friday at 4pm wanting us to sign loan documents the next day (we were leaving town). The Title Company had the notary out that night. Who knows what might have happened. I liked the fact I could upload all my documents online but I’ll just say this, I won’t use Mount Diablo again.

So, so many competitors contacted me when I posted on GetLoans websites that I was looking to refinance. I went through many many responses getting detailed estimates and timetables, working with Ramon Walker, Ty Cabalsi and others. They kept insisting that their trademark was lower costs — and they followed through. In addition to the price, they followed through speedily, efficiently and patiently, quickly working out all the kinks that came up. It all worked out well and I thank them for being there.

Extremely pleased with the ease of funding our refinance. All correspondence was through email and secure web documents. You should be very comfortable uploading and reviewing online documents. This was truly a near paperless process. When I did have questions all were responded to in a prompt and courteously manner. Ramon and Eileen were both extremely knowledgeable and patient in working us through the process. I would extend my compliments to their property assessor, the good folks at Ethos Lending LLC (lender), and notary public. I was extremely pleased that the final signing was executed at our home. Ethos Lending sent a mobile notary public to walk us through final signing. Great option for busy lives. I would give 5 stars were it not for a few relatively minor points. During the process it’s not entirely clear if the ball was in my court or theirs. When in doubt, I asked and they replied promptly. Also the rate was slightly higher than some advertised rates but given the ease of doing business, I am still pleased with this our refinance. Overall, it was a convenient and painless experience. I was looking to refinance my mortgage for a while and had noticed Mount Diablo Lending in the West County Times Bank Rate. I called and talked with Carlo who was very prompt and professional in providing me with the information I requested. After looking at their rates and other fees I decided to go with them for the refinance. The application and entire refi was handled smoothly and electronically with the exception of the signing of the final docs, they made it very convenient for me. I would recommend Mount Diablo to others who are interested in refinancing a loan.

I had an excellent experience refinancing with Mount Diablo. Ramon, Carlo and the whole team were attentive throughout the process and always answered all of my questions and concerns. I found them through Lending Tree and compared their GFE to a few other lenders while also cross-​checking with online reviews. Ultimately, they offered the best deal on closing costs while also providing the type of loan and rate I was looking for. The whole process was smooth from start to finish. I’ve been through this process before and had all my ducks in a row so I did not anticipate any real hurdles. I would use Mount Diablo again in a heartbeat!

When I originally applied with the broker from Mt Diabolo who’s named is TY, I aw an advertisment on the paper on a low rate availalbe. I explained our position which was very good. Money in savings a decent mortage rate but wanted to see if they can meet the rate the was promoted in the newspaper which was a a quarter point better than the one we already have and had qualified. They said because I was reported late on a mortgage payment back two years ago that I couldn’t qualify. Interesting that on my initial call I told Ty that but told me to proceed in sending all my private docs-​bank statements-​ss number and other info.
It took several attempts to even hear from him again. And when he did he stated that same reason, I told him to confirm the reasons and gave me alot of bull. i ask to talk to his supervisor, NAME «RAMON». and of course said he was busy and would call me… still waiting…
What really freak out Ty is that I said I wanted to record exactly how they determine yea on no on their advertised rates.
If you have extra time and want to forward your private info and kill time and not get any really explanation, and little respect, this is the place to do it.
I do recommend others such as Cardinal Financial who has our mortgage now, they were considerate, professional and always got back to me on a timely fashion.

Beware. I rarely comment on a business or provide a review but am compelled in this case. There are many other wholesale mortgage brokers that believe in exceptional customer service and exhibit the ethics and professionalism deserving of your business. This is not one of them. What you see is not always what you get. I would also caution Lendingtree on using this company.
After reading Ramon’s comments I’m so glad I went to the #11 mortgage broker and got a great loan. Apparently meeting all the required parameters he posted in an email back to me and an 809 credit score isn’t sufficient? What a crock. Unethical and unprofessional. Steer clear folks.

I would highly recommend Mt Diablo Lending for your
finance and/​or re-​finance needs. Ramon knows his stuff and will definitely deliver as promised. He has a knowledgeable and efficient staff. Be patient, upload
the the items they need (easily done on line) and they will close the loan quickly.

I got the best rates after shopping around so many places and my refi closed and funded without any issues. Ramon and his team always responded my questions on timely manner. Five start for the best rate, cost and easy refi process. I highly recommend Mount Diablo to people who have done mortgage transactions in the past and somewhat familiar with process. I provided all my docs electronically ahead of time and don’t have to do much after. They can give you wholesale rate for reasons, if you know how mortgage works you will love their rate and service. It seems negative reviews on Unilocal were given by people who are not familiar with mortgage application and process and I can also understand that.

Not sure why MDL received low reviews. Ramon was a pleasure working with and was very responsive to all my emails. He even responded to any questions or inquiries past 11pm and on Sundays. MDL was excellent in providing me a great rate in addition to wonderful service. I would highly recommend Ramon as he is a fantastic broker.

I chose Mt. Diablo Lending because Ramon initially sounded personable, professional, seemed responsive and I liked that they were local. The process started out fine and a lot of the application process was done on-​line. Once most of the initial documents requested were provided I reached out to their loan assistant and Ramon to find out how our refinancing process was coming along. I did not hear back for days and finally Ramon sent a message saying his assistant would call me. Another few days went by… just radio silence. I then sent multiple messages and phoned and again… heard zero. My husband finally showed up a their office to talk with Ramon only to find out our loan would most likely be denied. At the end of the day, we accept that we did not get the loan but the lack of response and courtesy of letting us know was absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. In this day and age how hard is it to send a message explaining the situation? Seems like once they find out a loan is not going to go through, they drop you like a hot potato. Hopefully, in the future they will think about their customer service and building long-​term relationships for future business. I cannot recommend this company.
Ramon, how ironic that you responded so quickly to my review and you must have spent some time writing it. Going into this process, we had no idea of the issues the bank would have and some of our items we found out about through the process. My review was simply about communication and your lack of it to my emails and calls. Again, extremely unprofessional. Not everyone is aware of the process and how it works, so a simple discussion with me about the status would have been appropriate and greatly appreciated. Good luck with your business. I would not recommend them. I was in the mortgage business, so I know what I am talking about. After sending them all of our documentation, they claim that our income doesn’t quality. My husband draws from his 401k rather than taking SS (which he could, but opts not to). I have a stable job and although we don’t make the kind of money we used to because my husband is now semi-​retired, I know that if they would have added my income into the equation, our DTI would be well within guidelines. Instead they send us a BS statement «I don’t see a path forward through us, sorry.» What does that even mean?
After I resent them my pay stubs and asked them to let me know what new DTI calculations they came up with, we didn’t hear back from them. Feels rather suspicious to me.

. Their rate was the lowest. Not knowing them, I searched reviews t get an idea of who they are. It was a mix of 1 star & 5 star reviews with most being 5 star. That’s a red flag to me — nobody’s perfect. But I decided to proceed forward cautiously.
During the application phase (online, unassisted), I entered my initial info to get to their site’s listing of the rates. The fees for a 30 yr fixed at the rate I wanted with them were in the thousands (no points). That same rate as advertised through Bankrate, listed the fees at $ 795. Not sure why the difference. I won’t assign blame.
Well, with this new info, it didn’t make sense for me to continue now knowing their fees. So I stopped in the middle of applying. Later the same day, I’ve received a few calls from them that I missed & one to my wife listed as the co-​borrower. I was in the room when the call came into my wife — I heard it all. After she answered and heard it was a lending company, she said «I’m not interested, please place me on your do not call list» and hung up. She didn’t know I looked into them & thought it was a telemarketer. I thought nothing of it. Until I got an email from Ramon just minutes after the call entitled «rude». It proceeded to tell my wife that she was rude by hanging up on him & that «she should work on that in life».
While this was all a matter of events & lack of communication as the events unfolded, I ask you — what kind of company seeks retribution & tells a customer, lost or not, how to live their life?
In my opinion, I believe those 1 star reviews a little more. Especially those that indicate a sense of vindictiveness by the company.

Ramon and Mount Diablo got me a great deal on my refinance. I was trying to refinance my home with a 7 year ARM loan and talked to many lenders. Ramon by far had the best rate…2.875% versus the next best was 3.12%. I was critical that it could be done, but I checked them on Unilocal and they had a good rating. probably the best I saw out of the mortgage companies. And I noticed anyone who had a bad experience, Ramon would personally try to respond to them… not with a generic «we are sorry for your experience» like so many other businesses… but a specific respond to why they couldn’t serve them better. I experienced closing loans with difference companies and I understand «stuff happens.» Sometimes underwriters ask for things that are just so out of the ordinary and it is hard to avoid such situations. As long as the company does their best to respond to the mistakes in the right manner, I am fine with that.
I also think Ramon is a hard worker… when he first called me it was 8pm a night and I heard his 16 month daughter do a little cry in the background. What that tells me that he not only works hard, but he takes care of his fatherly duties. Knowing those 2 things is good enough for me… and if that is good enough for you, I would recommend you give Ramon and Mount Diablo a chance.

Initially my partner and I were weary that Mount Diablo Lending could deliver on what they’d offered us, too good to be true was our first thought. We found them in the LA Times Bankrate section which advertises mortgage rates. The rates they offered were a quarter point lower than an offer I’d received from Wells Fargo, my current lender at the time. In addition to being a quarter point lower there were no cost associated with Mount Diablo Lending’s offer. Wells Fargo was essentially giving me a rate that was a quarter point higher for $ 2000 more in cost compared to Mount Diablo Lending. After some due diligence, reading reviews from other people that had previously worked with Mount Diablo Lending we decided to give them a try. Having the experience of refinancing 5 – 6 times before, never has the process been so smooth and easy. We completed our application online, uploaded our documents and signed all the necessary disclosures online. This company definitely incorporates technology into their process which we greatly appreciated because it made things easier with our busy schedules. Our appraisal went off without a hitch. A week and a half after our initial submission we had our approval and they requested a couple of additional documents, which we provided. A week after that Ramon was calling to inform us the loan was clear to close. Ramon and his team (mainly worked with Tracy) closed our loan in 26 days at a rate and fees we were ecstatic about receiving.

If I could give this place a lower rating, I definitely would.
I contacted this company to get a second opinion on a loan, after being approved by another company.
At first, Ramon seemed to have a positive attitude and seemed to want to be helpful. Within 24 – 48 hours I had forwarded him all the requested documents, except for the escrow contract. I told him that I was not familiar with this process, but I was certain that my agent could get that too him. HE NEVER REPLIED TO THAT EMAIL. After a week of attempting to reach this «company» to get status, he finally replies and is completely rude and says I need to get that for him which he could have told me the day I suggested he contact my agent. Instead just sat on my file for a week. Then when I final got the contract to him, he emails the escrow company. I then follow up (via email) with him to get status and nothing. I call and NOTHING.
I then become worrisome because this «company» has all our personal information and isn’t replying to my inquiries. So I email him again and admittedly I am upset and scared that this is a fraudulent establishment and this is the reply I receive:
«Good bye and Good Riddance Marisela… by the way your escrow company never sent the fees I requested, so like I told you from the beginning, if we don’t have the proper documentation we cannot move forward. I cannot work with people who are incompetent. Our business model is to work with those individuals who are ready to move forward and provide what we ask for upfront. We don’t waste time with anyone else. Unfortunately you couldn’t get your documents together and please believe I will be expressing this in a counter to your review on the BBB. I’ll put out there for the world to know that you couldn’t even get me an „supposedly signed offer“ for over a week. Whos signs an offer but isnt given a copy… What a joke, did you even really have a offer.
I don’t take kindly to peoples weak ass threats!!! You’re an idiot to say I sell peoples info. I run a business that closes over 200 million dollars per year. Was on Zillow and saw rates were low, and in the list they provided Mt. Diablo was the best rate/​expenses. I was a little leery since we had only used our regular bank for refinancing before, but it was really easy and completely electronic. The notary came to our home with all the paperwork and it closed promptly. Definitely would recommend.
