I came into the store to see if I could get my watch sized. I was unsure whether they would help me since I hadn’t purchased the watch in the store, but one of the salesmen, Vince Mason, was happy to help me out. He quickly and professionally size my watch and even offered to polish one of my rings I was wearing. Though I haven’t made a purchase from the store, whenever I do make a big jewelry purchase I will definitely return thanks to the great customer service I received. If you go to Davidson and Licht, ask for Vince and you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been buying watches for over 19 years at Davison & Licht and most of these years working exclusively with Jeremiah. Not only is he a walking Rolex and Panerai encyclopedia as well an overall watch expect, but he is a pleasure to do business with. He knows and remembers his clients likes and taste and never disappoints. Jeremiah is extremley professional and doesn’t rush or pressure you with making a purchase. He’s very patient explaining as much or little as you might want to know about a watch.
There are other non-​authorized places to purchases watches on the internet nowadays, but I choose to buy from Jeremiah, he really turns what would otherwise just be another average purchase into a whole positive experience.
If I had to single out one specific part of the follow up service I appreciate the most, it would have to be there annual no charge Rolex refinishing, it’s like getting a new watch ever year without spending any money… it’s really one of the best value added follow up purchases I’ve seen in this industry.

Just wanted to add: I came in again three months after my first visit and Vince greeted me by name. I don’t think I’ve had that happen anywhere, including places I’ve been a bunch of times.
Not only did he remember me, he proceeded to again spend a lot of time (close to an hour maybe?) talking to me and my friend about what was new in the store since my last visit and again pulled out a few watches for us to take a look at.
Even more impressed by the store & Vince’s service the second time around.

We recently purchase our engagement ring here and could not be more pleased with the outcome. Our plan was to check out a few places and before making any decisions, but once we met Vince at Davidson & Licht we had no thoughts of going anywhere else.
Vince was attentive and patient as he worked with us to find the perfect diamond that fit our budget and our expectations. I was really nervous about the custom setting because I had an idea of what I wanted but couldn’t articulate it exactly. Vince really listened though, and when the ring arrived everything was perfect.
I can’t comment too much on the price because we didn’t shop around except to compare prices on the internet. The cost of the diamond was in line with what we saw on Blue Nile. The setting was definitely more expensive than what I saw online, but I have no idea what the quality of those were.
I would absolutely recommend Vince at Davidson & Licht. The experience was 5-​star and I love my engagement ring. It all worked out even better than I could have hoped for, and when it’s time to purchase our wedding bands I know we will be calling on him again.

My husband and I came in today to look at watches. Vince greeted us and couldn’t have been nicer! He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We tried on a couple pieces each, they have a great selection! Vince was even kind enough to clean all of my jewelry that was purchased from a different jeweler. We will definitely be going back… And definitely ask for Vince!

I have been getting the battery changed on my Breitling watch here for years since they are one of the only dealers in the area. I’m a senior technologist for one of the larger tech companies in the bay but I normally wear jeans and tennis shoes when I’m out and about (like every other techie). When I went into this store recently I got a dirty look and was ignored by what appeared to be the owner. So, I’ll save my big purchases for somewhere else. Thanks.

Next, to respond to some of the people who said the felt they were judged as soon as they walked in based on appearance… this was not the case for me. I am relatively young (30), probably much younger than most of their clientele. However being 30, most people who guess my age by looking at me would guess I was 23 – 25. The first time I walked in I was wearing a gym shirt and gym shorts. I definitely did not fit the «mold» of their typical client.
I was immediately greeted and welcomed. I told them I was looking for a Tag watch. I was surprised when they told me they no longer carried Tag. (It’s been years apparently).
Even though they did’t carry Tag, they still set me up with their watch expert, Jeremiah. Let me tell you what a professional Jeremiah is. His knowledge of watches is extremely impressive, and the service that he provided me was superior. Jeremiah spent about an hour with me, taking me through all the different watch brands they had. He took time to educate me on each and every watch that caught my eye. We found the perfect match… except the price was about double what I had intended on spending when I came in. I eventually let Jeremiah know that I would have to think about it overnight, so I wouldn’t make a impulse decision. There was no pressure from Jeremiah, and he sent me home with more information, and he encouraged me to do my research. I also want to mention throughout the entire process, I was offered coffee, water, candy… they definitely made sure I was comfortable and felt welcome.
I returned the next day as I told Jeremiah I would (once again in gym shorts and a gym shirt). Jeremiah took the time to go back over the watches we had visited the previous day, and showed me new time pieces that I had researched and that I had questions about. Jeremiah spent about another hour with me before I made my decision.
After I made my decision (the watch that was a perfect match from the day before), Jeremiah spent another 45 minutes with me, getting the watch fitted, going through every detail of the watch, until I was fully knowledgeable about all the functions. He also throughly explained the maintenance of the watch, and explained care and made sure I knew when to bring it in for service to maintain the warranty.
I actually returned the following day, (This time in a suit and tie and not my gym clothes). All the D & L associates immediately recognized me and made me feel like I was part of the D & L family. They didn’t just record the sale and classify me as a number.
Jeremiah was finishing with a customer, so I decided to wait for him. In the time I was waiting for Jeremiah, I had a coffee in hand, along with a water and snacks, and another associate had offered to assist me until Jeremiah was done.
As soon as Jeremiah was done, he came right over to me. Jeremiah had no idea why I was there, and i’m sure anytime he sees a customer the very next day after a sale, its not a good thing. This did not stop him from continuing to offer superior customer service. Instead of having an issue, I was actually there to look at more watches. Jeremiah spent another hour to hour and a half, and set me up with another watch.
To be honest, when I initially walked in, I expected to be judged based on my appearance, and expected to be overlooked. I have to give it to the team there, as I was welcomed with open arms and received 5 star service. Had D & L judged the book by the cover, they would have missed out on 2 sales, but this was far from my experience. These 3 days of shopping there were 3 of the best shopping experiences I have encountered. I would consider myself a good judge of customer service, as I had spent a few years working in a demanding customer service environment while in school.
If you are looking for a 5 star shopping experience when shopping for jewelry, this is the place to go. I also highly recommend you utilize Jeremiah, as his professional demeanor and knowledge is unmatched.

My husband went into the new location to get me a new diamond for my wedding ring as a gift. He got broomed out by the staff, they clearly attempt to «qualify» their walk-​ins without any knowledge. He got a poor vibe and felt very «read». He didn’t have a suit and tie with a Rolex, judgement was there from the start. Needless to say, he went down the street and my new 1.5 carat diamond is being set with a humble, trustworthy jewelry company. Customer service and humility go a long way when people are willing to fork up the dough, that’s the basics of generic sales. And this company could use some «retraining» on social skills, and how they put people together without knowing what their clients have… Thanks for brooming him, it was worth it!

I’ve been a longtime window-​shopper at Davidson & Licht, always looking but never buying. The staff have always been very friendly, helpful, never hesitant to let me try on different watches, and never made me feel pressured to make a decision.
I recently got serious in finding a nice watch, so I walked into a few jewelry stores in the area. Vince helped me for an entire morning taking watches out, explaining the nuances of each watch & brand, and helping me to narrow down a watch. I decided what I wanted, but wanted to do more research before I bought it. Vince was smiling just as big when I left, as when I walked in.
I looked at pricing online and considered buying it during my next trip to Portland to save on taxes. I eventually decided to buy local, and specifically at Davidson & Licht, for the reasons another Unilocaler pointed out:
1) If you buy from Davidson & Licht they honor the products they sell, and maintain a record of your purchases for future service needs.
2) For watches, they have an annual service where they will clean your watch to look as brand new as possible – for life. This was a big selling point for me, because I trust leaving them with my watch, and this service is normally charged by other jewelers.
3) Watch maintenance for most of the brands they sell is done on-​site, they don’t have to send them out.
4) They were knowledgeable about the products, confident about their service, and very friendly and personable.
On the day I went to buy my watch Vince was off, so August helped me. August was equally friendly, and happy to pull out more watches from the cases to make sure that my final selection was the ‘right’ watch for me. I ended up buying a watch that I had never considered until that day. Mr Licht came over to introduce himself, and thank me for my business.
Vince, August, and Mr Licht made this entire process very special, easy, and comfortable. They are professional, understand that this is a personal purchase so selecting the right watch takes time, and exceeded in providing the rewarding experience you hope to get when you make a purchase like this.

This is my second purchase here. Jon Licht knew exactly what I was looking for the moment we met. We found a superb engagement ring. Never was pushy or rushing me into buying. My fiancé proposed to me about a month ago with the most stunning ring, from Davidson & Licht. When he proposed, the diamond was set in a beautiful white gold presentation band. We went to Davidson & Licht to change out the band to platinum as well as look at wedding bands. During my experience, I worked closely with Vince. Vince was able to show me several different bands. I am very indecisive and was taking forever to make up my mind, but Vince assured me that I could take as much time as I wanted. I never felt rushed and was able to really think about what I wanted while talking through it with Vince. When he noticed that none of the bands I saw were «the one,» he offered to replicate my presentation band in a platinum version. I was elated and did just that.
I returned a week later to have the band switched out when it arrived. This time I was helped by Mr. Licht, his son Jason and Vince. While having my ring set, I was given espresso and water while they walked me around to different areas of the store to look at band options. They thoroughly educated me on the different metals for men’s wedding bands and how they differ both good and bad. They were able to guide me in the right direction and arrive at a decision. Once that was done, they began walking me through my band and went through my Pinterest with me to get ideas of what I was looking for. And once again, they thoroughly explained the pros and cons of the band style that I had selected and offered similar variations that would be more resilient in the years to come. When I was finally able to arrive at a decision, they were able to write up a quote for the order. As if that wasn’t enough, I then had Vince show me necklace options for my wedding. When I briefly explained an idea of what I was looking for, he immediately pointed a necklace out to me that was absolutely perfect.
The experience I had both times was outstanding. I could take as long as I wanted and could ask as many questions as I had. They were informative, incredibly friendly, and most importantly professional. I look forward to my quarterly visits for ring cleaning as it’s always a pleasure to visit. I highly recommend Davidson & Licht for anyone looking for quality paired with a great jeweler relationship.

While I lived in Walnut Creek, I once walked into this location just to check out their selection. While I was in there, I believe a woman named Mary, complimented my engagement ring and asked if I wanted her to clean it for me. Only having the ring for a couple months I was quite nervous, however she carefully inspected it first, and then cleaned it right in front of my eyes. It came out gleaming! With a big smile she then told me to come back anytime to have it cleaned and to this day I have been back 3 times to have it done! They are always so friendly and so accommodating and of course make my beautiful diamond shine even brighter!

I had one shot to get an engagement ring right, and I chose D&L as the place to get a beautifully constructed ring built correctly. Jon personally helped me through the whole process and I put a lot of trust in him. His salespeople are great too (as is his family who worked on the ring).
He worked with me to get a budget together that would give me the most beautiful ring I could get with the highest quality we could find. They finished ahead of schedule, they are super friendly, and the store is really nice. I’ll be back to buy a watch soon. I really was surprised to read a lot of the negative reviews honestly. It’s definitely not a cheap place, and it has its quirks, but its not a fake department store vibe. It’s a really high end place with really high end quality — so it really hit the nail on the head for me. My fiancé absolutely loves the ring and we get complements on it all the time for its uniqueness, clarity, and sparkle. I actually really like going here and will use them again for sure.

Nice selection of jewelry and a large collection of rolex watches, nice staff, average prices, worth a stop in to peak around, I am not loyal to this place by any means… shop around for your bling bling :)

They are RUDE to customers, existing and new, and especially rude if you bring them appraisals. Not worth their time…
If they want to provide service and be a true family jeweler they should be as welcoming and friendly when you come in for repairs, watch batteries, and appraisals as when you buy a rolex or diamond ring.
Bottom line– customers are ridiculed and treated poorly get something beautiful somewhere else.

Only two pieces of information worth reviewing:
1) The sales people here are wonderful. If they collectively owned the store, we would have happily purchased what later ended up being about $ 20k in rings.
2) The owner is the definition of a skeevy slime ball. You can almost see the arrogance and misogynistic undertones coming out of his pores. He could not tell me where the diamonds came from, and became visibly agitated when questioned about sourcing for the purpose of custom making my ring. I think a buyer has the right to know where their purchase is coming from.
3) Go elsewhere. Don’t be afraid to check online or smaller jewelers in the area.
Mr. Jon Licht, you are NOT my friend in the diamond business. (Neither is that other guy but you get the idea.)

My boyfriend and I were shopping for an engagement ring and had planned on stopping by a few jewelry stores in Walnut Creek. We happened to find parking right across the street from Davidson and Licht so we figured we would take a look to get our shopping started. Walking in that store was probably the worst experience we’ve ever had.
We were greeted by a gentleman who opened the door for us. Other than that, no one in the store talked to us, let alone even paid any attention to us. There were only a couple other customers in the store, but apparently they needed the help of at least two or three associates each. We spent about 5 minutes browsing the engagement ring selection so it wasn’t a matter of us not staying long enough to be helped. We decided to leave since they obviously didn’t want to help even though we were ready to make our biggest and most important purchase. Again, the only person to care that we were leaving was the same gentleman who opened the door for us yet again.
I was definitely feeling very dejected after this experience. Thankfully, my boyfriend encouraged me to try next door at their competition. Not only were they much busier when we got there, but we had three different people helping us find more settings and stones to compare. Quite the opposite experience for sure.
Not sure why we were completely ignored at Davidson and Licht — maybe the fact that we look young, or that we were dressed comfortably in jeans and tshirts, or maybe the fact that we are an interracial couple — doesn’t matter what the reason is. It was completely unprofessional and could have very well ruined the ring shopping experience for us. We will happily take our money elsewhere and encourage everyone else to so they don’t have to be subject to the horrible service here. If there was an option to give no stars, I definitely would.

I was really surprised to read some of these poor reviews. My wife and I have always been treated well here even when we were just looking. We bought a Rolex a number of years ago at their other Walnut Creek location. A few weeks ago we needed to have the band adjusted so we came back. To our surprise it wasn’t there. We googled it and walked to the new location.
The new store is beautiful! We walked in with jeans and tennis shoes. We were immediately greeted and helped. While we waited we looked at their large selection of Rolexes. We met Jon Licht, the owner and Jeremiah, the in-​house Rolex expert. We learned so much from him about the history of Rolex. Jon has a great sense of humor and gift of gab. We bought two Rolexes! While we were looking they offered to clean our rings and our watches. They cleaned and polished them for free.
We spoke with Jon about our 25^th anniversary next year and our desire to have rings made for the special occasion. He put a $ 100K ring on my wife and walked away. Then I wore it walking around the store. When Jon came back we discussed different possible designs.
We were treated as if we were part of his family. We were not dressed well. We were not wearing a lot of expensive jewelry. We are gay. Sometimes other stores do not give us the time of day, so we just leave and find another store who will treat us with respect. We did not feel this way any time we entered this store.
I highly recommend shopping here.

I recently just purchased a Rolex Submariner here and I am extremely pleased with their customer service. As far as anything customer service, they are top notch and very professional. Anytime a jewelry store gives out orange-​flavored candy and customized water bottles, you know you’re in a fancy place that takes care of you. I guess I would’ve preferred some champagne though. Anyway, why else would they still be around for almost 100 years and in an affluent part of Walnut Creek?
I’ve lived around Walnut Creek my entire life and Davidson & Licht Jewelry Co has always been a name I’ve seen/​heard. When I graduated medical school, my parents wanted to buy me a watch so I strolled over to this spot and checked out their Rolex collection. At first, I was going to just try some on and get some information with the intent of buying a watch cheaper on the internet. I actually did buy one from the internet but quickly returned it because it wasn’t «100% new,» the warranty/​paperwork seemed sketchy/​illegitimate, and it was a display model people tried on (I didn’t know that until after I received it in the mail). I mean, I bought it from Amazon Prime and the seller looked reliable, but I wanted to be sure I got something 100% new and not worn by 50 random people with who knows what skin diseases.
Anyway, I went back to Davidson & Licht to instead buy the watch there. I was helped by the same young gentleman that initially helped me a week prior. He answered all my questions very patiently and I was in no rush. I’m assuming they work on some sort of commission system and if they do, this guy deserved whatever cut he earned that day.
Now, instead of buying the watch online for $ 8000, I bought it here for $ 9500. They don’t price match. The reason why I didn’t mind paying the extra $ 1500 is because of the following reasons:
1) If you buy from here, they will always have your back for the item, will have your warranty/​receipt on record, and be happy to tell you everything you need to know about care/​operation of your item.
2) For watches, they have an annual service where they will clean your watch to look as brand new as possible – for life. They are one of the few stores that are certified to do this. This was a big selling point for me.
3) Since I needed a few links to be taken off my watch bracelet, they happily did it the proper way with the appropriate tools. This can’t be done via an online vendor.
4) They taught me everything I needed to know about how to recognize fake Rolexes.
5) It’s close to where my parents live so I’ll always have a reason to be back in the area and if I need something I could just drop by.
Are all these things worth the extra money I paid? For someone who is just starting in the Rolex game and needs a trusted source for quality jewelry, I would say absolutely. Since Rolex owners usually buy from the same location (so that they can get dibs on new releases), I think Davidson & Licht will be that dealer for me should I continue to purchase Rolex. You can’t do this from some random internet vendor who could for all your know sold you something old/​fake.
Bottom line, great service from the time you’re there and for life if you purchase and service an item from there. Highly recommended!
