This true Gentleman has been our guide, our mentor, our life coach for over 8 years now.
This wonderful human has cared for both our girls from day one.
It is not just the medical part but the mental coaching.
I find it hard to believe that in this day and age, a Doctor would take an hour and just talk to parents.
We did not go to collage of raising a child, without Dr. Hanson’s coaching, things would had been tough.

Sob! My daughter just had one last appointment with Dr. Hanson before she leaves for college. About 18 years ago, Dr. Hanson was following me down the hall of John Muir’s maternity hallways all ready giving me priceless neonatal advice. When she was about six and had what we thought were insect bites around her collarbone, Dr. Hanson immediately suspected metal allergy and asked whether she had been wearing jewelry. Yup. A Barbie necklace was the culprit. Dr. Hanson is an ace diagnostician, kind, caring and a fount of parenting wisdom. They don’t make doctors like this anymore. He is the best. The real deal.

Fabulous pediatrician. Same day appts, same staff for years and years. His wife, Mrs. Hanson always remembers us. My son has asthma/​allergies, I don’t feel like I need to go over the medical history with him, he remembers. He is a master diagnoser.
As far as the 1 star review goes, Margaret C, you have given a review for the wrong dr. I have never had a billing problem, the staff are not idiots.

Dr. Hanson was my pediatrician since I was born. He is now my son’s pediatrician… and is still my 22 year old little brothers lol. My family has total confidence and trust in Dr. Hanson. He spends around an hour with you at every appointment, answering questions and going over safety and health. The office has an old school charm, so don’t expect any flat screens or game boys when you walk in. In fact, the office still has the same wall art, toys, and wall paint since I was a kid. Dr. Hanson still writes everything down by hand and actually looks at you when you talk, rather than down at a screen. There is a personal touch here that has become defective in part of the medical field. Everyone in the office is courteous, friendly and professional. The few times we had any concern, Dr. Hanson made time in his schedule to see my son THE SAME DAY. My only concern is that Dr. Hanson will retire before my other children are born hah.

Dr. Hanson not only cared for my children, he has helped me become a secure informed parent. When my daughter was born in 1989 he took care of both of us from day one. Actually my husband and I met with Dr. Hanson before she was born and he gave us valuable information to make decisions regarding infant care before we were offically his patients! Dr. Hanson keeps up on the latest medical information and always used his experience when diagnosing and making recommendations. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

I was assigned Dr. Hanson as a pediatrician when I was ready to deliver my son at age 40. Not only was I considered to have one foot in the grave to be having a baby this late in life, but I also have certain medical issues that made my case a rather complicated one.
Dr. Hanson paid very careful attention to me when I met him before the delivery and was at the hospital way ahead of time when my scheduled C-​section took place. My own OB-​Gyn was late, but Dr. Hanson was on his toes and ready to help!
As a previous reviewer mentioned, Dr. H spends a very long time with you during office visits explaining «What to Expect When…» all the way up to teenage problems, emotional issues, everything under the sun.
Dr. Hanson does not always come across as the warm and fuzzy, overly smiling stereotypical pediatrician. This may be off-​putting is that is the kind of doctor you seek. If, however, you want a doctor who listens, is knowledgeable and who takes very good notes, this is the doc for you. Dr. Hanson’s office does not take my insurance, but I continue to take my son to see him out of my own pocket. After meeting my son on the day he was born and now, twelve years later, I don’t feel the need go to any one else for my child’s care.

Dr. Hanson has been my kids’ doctor since they were born (11 and 9 years ago). He is caring and compassionate and extremely thorough. He strongly advocates for each child to make sure each receives proper care. I’ve learned so much from Dr. Hanson over the years, and I have so much gratitude for the time he has spent with us. His insights are invaluable, not only from a health standpoint, but from a developmental one as well. He has definitely contributed to me being a better parent to my children. I know several other parents whose children see Dr. Hanson, and we all agree that our children are very fortunate to have him as their Pediatrician.

Best doctor ever. Knowledgeable, takes time (unheard of nowadays) — loves what he does. He understands childhood development and has guided us through the stages of our daughter’s lives. I would recommend Dr Hansen to anyone!!!

I cannot imagine a better pediatrician than Dr. Hanson. I have had both my children in his care for four years now and that was never a time when I had any reason to complain or feel that I was not getting the best of care for both of them.
He takes time to listen to your concerns and spends at least half an hour on any appointment; you never feel rushed out the door as is the case in other offices. I also want to make it clear that Margret C.‘s review does not in any way reflect our experience. The quality of care he provides is outstanding!

Dr Hanson is the best. We have twins and we have been with him since their birth, 16 years ago, based on the recommendation of my brother & sister-​in-​law (3 girls). He is a no nonsense doctor with years of experience. He does not take any shortcuts or down play any concerns. Dr Hanson has guided the family through all stages of child development, what to watch for & what to avoid. We are always amazed on how he can describe an upcoming life change and BAM, it happens. He has a wonderful staff, too! Thank you, Dr. Hanson!

I just had a baby September and since it was our first baby we interviewed many pediatricians before choosing the «right» one for us. When we first met Dr. Hanson we didnt think «oh yes this is definitely the guy» as he doesn’t come across as «cute & Cuddly» like many of the other pediatricians. However, after sitting with him and talking for several minutes we knew without a doubt he would be our pick. He takes the time to answer any questions, gives you his take and philosophy on pediatrics, and anytime I call he always responds to my phone call by the end of the day. We have been going to him for 3 months now and his advice is invaluable! He spends at least an hour with us at every visit, and even takes notes for me! In this day in age that is so rare to find in a doctor, most doctors want you in and out the door so they can take the net patient. Not dr. Hanson, he takes his time, is incredibly thorough and sooo knowledgeable! He is older and has many years of experience, but also stays on top of all the new research and is very up to date on the latest medical research, and also very practical. He is wonderful and I cannot say enough great things about him! I am so glad I trusted him with our new son. His staff is also great and so helpful!

My kids have been seeing Dr. Hanson for the last 8 ½ years. My oldest is now 8 ½ and my youngest is a newborn. Dr. Hanson has been with us 100% of the way through all of our ups and downs. He is a terrific listener (as well as talker)! Herespects the patients’ and parents’ points of view. His staff is attentive. I have great confidence in Dr. Hanson’s care and expertise and feel very fortunate to have him as my children’s physician.

Love Love Love this guy. I asked some collegues for a good pediatrician after moving to WC. Struck gold. Dr. Hanson had to do some retro work with us because he hadn’t known the kids since birth. Very thorough with family «psych» checks every year. Lets me know how I am doing as a parent through kids eyes. Thank god he was in hospital when my son had his appendix out. Turned out to be swine flu and Dr. Hanson recognized something was wrong within 5 minutes of a visit. He saved my kids life!

Dr. Hanson has always taken such great care of my kids that I chose to keep him when I moved to Solano County. I cried the day I moved to Placer County and had to pick a new doctor for my kids. He is caring and thorough. I once called with a potentially serious problem on a Friday. He told me to come in first thing Monday morning (it was a holiday weekend, he didn’t want to spoil it for the kids with the drive and office visit). BUT, he called me early on Saturday morning to ask me to meet him at the hospital. He wanted an MRI to rule out anything neurological. He said he hadn’t slept and didn’t want to risk waiting until Monday. He really cares about his patient’s. And don’t forget Rose and Susie! What a great team!

Dr. Hanson has been a valued member of our family for the past 14 years. He cares truly for the overall well being of child and family. He has guided us through the ups and downs of infancy, the frantic toddler years, pre teens and so on. His advice and genuine concern have made the journey all the better. His staff has seen very little turn over through the years. They know who you are when you call and if you need to be seen they make it happen. Dr. Hanson is no nonsense and to the point. He wants the best for your child and for the family as a whole. I often lament the fact that I am ineligible for treatment in a pediatric office, I would give anything to have him as my own personal physician. Thank you Dr. Hanson.

We adore Dr. Hanson & his staff. He spends at least an hour with us for each visit. Telephone calls are always returned promptly. His advice is invaluable! My husband is in the Coast Guard and is scheduled to change duty stations in 2012. Dr. Hanson is one of the main reasons we will try to stay in this area. I don’t know what I would do without him!

I love, Love, LOVE Dr. Hanson-​he is the BEST doctor I have ever encountered-​EVER! His knowledge, expertise, experience, and patience (especially for this ‘Nervous Nelly’ new mom) are immeasurable-​how many doctors do you know freely and willingly spend over an hour discussing your child’s health, progress, and well being?-even routine ear checks, etc. are thorough-​NOT the in/​out in two minutes you experience elsewhere. He is also available over the phone to answer questions/​concerns you may have and responds in a timely manner if he is with a patient when you call. If I had any complaints it would only be that I wish he was a family practice doctor, because both my husband and I would love to have him as our own doctor as well. Yes, he is that good. As selfish as this sounds, I really hope he doesn’t retire anytime soon-​we look forward to having our son grow up with Dr. Hanson as his primary and only pediatrician.

New baby last year, and Dr. Hanson is still my guy for pediatrics. I read Margaret C.‘s review, and can understand her frustration, but what she would not know is that the woman who has run Dr. Hanson’s office for as long as we’ve been seeing him had some very serious medical issues right in the timeframe she was seeing him. So, although we haven’t experienced any problems, I’m not surprised if there were some mistakes in office administration around that time, especially for new patients. Her experience is DEFINITELY not representative of the over 18 years I have been taking my now three boys to Dr. Hanson.

I delivered 2 weeks early and had not yet confirmed my pediatrician so I had Dr. Hanson assigned for my new baby for care. He does spend an inordinant amount of time with you at bedside but its way too much to process (I just had a baby… was tired… he asked me to stay attentive…) and he did the circumcision and recommended that we didn’t attend, and did a poor job. And this was after he told us that he hasn’t had an operation go bad for over 30 years… Our pediatirian we did go with took one look at it and knew it had to be adjusted. We had to have a second operation within 1 – 2 weeks. Terrible ordeal. Finally — the billing office is a joke! Everyone of the doctors got paid on time and in full but THEY COULD NOT GET THE BILLING RIGHT FOR 7 MONTHS AND KEPT OVERCHARGING ME BY 100S OF DOLLARS! They got the wrong member ID so it kept getting denied. They said the hospital gave it to them wrong (yet everyone else got it right) they finally got it corrected and rebilled. Then I got a bill again and they overcharged me by over 200 dollars because they didn’t adjust the allowed amount for the circumsicion. They took the time to put florescent stickers all over the bill saying past due, you need to pay your share — but they didn’t bill audit to see if the right bill went out to me. They made me call my insurance when they had the right EOB the whole time. To boot — they charged me FINANCE CHARGES on the bill even though it was their mistake from DAY 1! I’m already taking care of a baby and had I not audited the bill — these people would have been paid an addition $ 200 dollars out of my pocket in this economy for a poor service that needed to be done again. Amazing. Just check your bills — these people are idiots…

Dr. Hanson is wonderful. We found a review for him after moving here 2 years ago that looked favorable so we decided to try him. He spends such an incredible amount of time with each patient, you know he really cares and isn’t in it for the money. All my boys love him. His staff is excellent. When I have to bring more than 1 child, they will watch the other child up front and give him crayons, etc. to keep him busy. And there are always stickers on the way out.
I am sure he will retire one day and it will be a loss to pediatrics.
