Total Temperature Control

The pipe in my studio started to leak after Total Temp was hired by our condo asso to install a central heating sys in the building. They went to every unit to install a new pipe connection.
The connection point started to leak after TT left. We called our condo asso. A guy from TT showed up two days later. The guy worked for less than an hour, but they charged me for a Sunday with 3 hours over time. (They were here on Tuesday morning around 8AM but they charged for off-​hours). They also charged us for their parking ticket and car fuel.
In the bill, they indicated the water damage was from the existing pipe and tried to pass the buck. Fortunately I have evidence from our insurance company. The small leak also damaged my hardwood floor, books and bookshelf and they just tried to ignore this problem.
This is totally unfair. My pipe in my studio had been working fine and never leaked before their very first arrival. They charged me $ 470 for the issue they caused.
Please be extremely carefully when you call this company for any service, they will rip you off.

Total Temp installed a new high efficiency heating system and water heater at our home. I can’t say enough about the experience. Everyone we dealt with was professional and courteous, and the men on the job couldn’t have been nicer or more efficient. They left the basement area where they worked in immaculate condition, unlike the business that installed the previous system. Now as the heat comes on we think of them and the company with gratitude. We highly recommend them.
They’ve also done a lot of work at the graduate school where I work, and they are reliable, efficient, and do excellent work. This is a great company.

I have used total temperature control in wakefield to install my central air from A-​Z they were so polite and very experience in there line of wrk the owner John & wife are very nice they make u feel like family and the workers they have, atleast the one they sent me was outstanded I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to put a central air unit or etc.

My Central AC was in and out, I called total temperature control, they sent over a nice guy who had no idea what to do. It took him 1.5 hrs to determine he wanted to change the transformer. the old transformer had a test button, which when pushed, began working right away. I actually told him the transformers had been tested but he did not care. he hot wired the system, charged 315.00 and the next day the AC was down again. I called ASD Air solutions the next day, that service tech ran continuity tests and found I had a short in a line. he replaced it and my ac has been running fine for 2 weeks now. if I could give total temperature control 0 stars I would, had their tech just said I don’t know and left, that would have been fine, but no, he had to make somethign up to charge me.

Nice enough guy, but after $ 1000 and over a week of elapsed time problem still not fixed. The guy came initially, was here for 5 minutes, and told me the unit was frozen and he would have to come back in a week. He billed me for a full hour even though I live about 100 yards from the shop. When he came back, he spent the entire day here. One thermostat ‘coincidentally’ broke while he was here and he ‘graciously’ replaced it with an inferior part that he had in the truck (looks like crap and has much more limited functionality). I called them back to tell them I was unhappy, that after all this time and $ 1000 I still did not have AC. The receptionist told me, «we can send someone to take a look, but I have to advise you that we bill $ 115 per hour for every hour spent there…» Buh bye! It was only a courtesy that I called them back, because as a business owner myself I would want to know about terrible service.
I called a different local provider and will post about that experience.

Great company do do business with! Fast professional service. They replaced my AC condensor unit. Showed up on time and did a great job! I highly recommend!

Total Temperature Control was referred to me by Whirlpool for repair of my hot water tank. After multiple phone calls and commitments by repair tech ‘Don’, I never received a call back and was left hanging for several days. Beware of this company. They commit and DO NOT follow through. The tech had told me he’d show up to diagnosis my hot water tank multiple times and each time, gave me an excuse. I then spoke to the main office and the lady was very rude, not friendly and ignorant to my situation. I do not recommend this company.

I’ve used TTC multiple times for a/​c repair work, heating repair as well as light plumbing work. Their prices are fair, they show on time and are VERY honest. Out of three a/​c contractors I found them to be the ONLY honest ones. The other two were caught ripping me off. You should have no hesitation in hiring them — they are total professionals!

We used Total Temperature Control to covert our house from oil to gas and prep for A/​C. We received quotes from five different vendors and TTC was the best in many regards (price, availability, thorough and timely quote) by a long shot. On the day of our appointment, a whole crew of men descended upon our house and completed the work in timely fashion. Our heating works great — we couldn’t be more pleased. Also, the crew was fantastic… they clearly enjoy working together and to boot are polite, kind and extremely professional. I would highly recommend them — we’ll certainly use them again in the future.

If zero stars were an option I would give total temperature control zero stars.
Our central air starting blowing warm air last week so I called them to come take a look. The gentleman came the next day and inspected our system – it took him an hour to do this. He then informed my wife that the system was «broken» and that we «could get a new compressor» ($ 2,000), but said he «wouldn’t recomend it since the system is so old» (it is from 1996). His recommendation was that we replace the entire system, which would run us about $ 10,000. He charged us $ 105 and the work order invoice, which contained no name, had about four lines of mostly illegibile writing, describing what he checked.
Not happy with this, I opted for a second opinion – calling Chambers Heating and AC (Peabody). The next day they came and identified the issue: the capacitor was no good. A $ 57 new capacitor and $ 120 in labor later and our A/​C is working great. He also took the time to clean our filter and show my wife how to replace it, and made some great suggestions on how to maintain the compressor in good condition (this is our first house w/​central air).
Nowhere on the Total Temp Control work order receipt does it say that they checked the capacitor. So I’m left to think that either he had no idea what he was doing, or he was being deceitful and trying to scam us to replace our AC system.
Won’t be calling these guys EVER again.

After a disappointing service with ModCon, (good service, hugely expensive), we called Total Temp. What a success! They were helpful with fixing and servicing our Munchkin heater. Also, their hourly rate is about half that of ModCon. If you have a Munchkin, and don’t have an unlimited home maintenance fund, skip ModCon and go to Total Temp!

I found Total Temperature Control on the web after my boiler failed in the dead of winter. They gave me a same-​day appointment and did a great job fixing a boiler that was improperly installed to begin with. Since Total Temperature Control worked on my boiler, it has worked better now after 10 years than it did when it was first installed.
I now use Total Temperature Control for any plumbing or heating work that I need done. In the spring of 2010 when my basement flooded, they were the ones who fixed my boiler after water damaged the air intake, and the technician even checked out and restarted my water heater — I had shut it down because I was nervous that it too may have been damaged.
Total Temperature Control might seem expensive, but in the long run, the quality of their work will save you money. I would highly recommend Total Temperature control to my friends. I believe they have done work for This Old House on PBS as well.
