I think they have the address listed wrong. It’s 5023 Wake Forest Hwy, Durham, NC27703, not wake forest rd. Anyway the food here is super delicious. Husband and I visited many times and never got disappointed with their food. They always serve their in house chips and salsa and it’s great. You can’t missed their pork shank. It worth much more than the price you pay.

A hole in the wall, I use to frequent when I lived in the Dirty Durham. I am happy to say it is still a great place! They have a great authentic Mole, fast nice service and good price! Very small place, but if you are in the area it is worth a stop!

Stopped by for take out last night, first time visit. They actually have chili verde on the menu, which is only something you commonly see in the western US. Server said it was good, so I tried it. Not the way I make it myself, but flavorful and the pork was very tender. Chips were fresh, salsa was flavorful and also fresh. I will be back for tacos al pastor in the near future! This is a small, hole in the wall place on the eastern edge of Durham County, but definitely worth a visit. Most meals were reasonably priced, too. Huge serving of to go sweet tea really hit the spot. I am sure you can get Americanized Mexican food here, but do yourself a favor and try something different and more authentic.

Maybe it was just the day I went, because my friends GLOWED about this place; they literally said the food presentation alone was as if it were being photographed for a magazine. I had lunch, chicken enchilada, nothing special at all. The chicken meat was dry and the plate looked like every other mexican restaurant plate I’ve ever seen other than Dos Taquitos/Centro. One of us had the pork shank, which I tried, and it was good. The waiters were extremely nice. It’s important to note, however, they they do not take tips on credit cards — you have to tip in cash, which could really suck if you don’t have cash on you.

My husband and I live nearby and as our favorite neighborhood cantina was taking it’s time to open and Mi Barria was nearby we decided to give it a try. I can’t say enough about how amazing the food was. The reviewer above me talks about the surreal atmosphere and he’s absolutely right, it’s beyond strange but the food more than makes up for it. I got the taco loco and was happy I did. There has to be at least a 4 star chef lurking in the in the kitchen unseen and unknown cause if any of the local eateries tried his food they would have stolen him away. truly you won’t regret going there.

My wife and I tried Mi Barrio after finding a coupon and were impressed to find some of the best Mexican food around in a slightly surreal environment. The place is sparsely populated with televisions running peculiar Mexican variety shows(at least they were the last three times we’ve been there). Few members of the staff speak English, but all of them are warm and eager to please. They have a typical Mexican Restaurant menu, but the food is fresher, better. The combination plates are much larger than typical, more commercial Mexican places, although, I usually shirk the combinations for the al pastor or chorizo tacos. They have different salsas for your dining pleasure(although you have to request them, they don’t bring them automatically). After dinner, you will sometimes get complimentary sopapillas(this seems to be a random occurrence, though). When you walk in the door, you ask yourself«why is this place still here?» When you leave, you just thank goodness that it is.
