Cuddle Cupcakes

Cuddles’ website has a disclaimer that Unilocal!reviews are incorrect and that Unilocal!has a conspiracy against them. as a lover of local businesses, I decided to give them a chance.
CLEARLY however, there is NO conspiracy between Unilocal!and Cuddles… the only conspiracy is that Cuddles is pretty much a scam.
I emailed them before placing an order to make sure that they locally delivered to my boyfriend’s house, which someone emailed me back confirming they did. So I placed an order (over a week in advanced since the form said they needed at least 48 hours notice) .they charged me for the order. but did not deliver my cupcakes. Which, by the way, were a surprise for my boyfriend’s 30^th birthday.
Now, conveniently they will not answer my emails or my phone calls.
Last time I checked, taking money out of someone’s account and not giving them what they paid for was illegal. It’s pretty much like stealing. I wasn’t making a donation to you Cuddles.
Word of business advice, maybe instead of caring so much about the so-​called Unilocal!conspiracy you should actually do the business you’re in and go above and beyond and maybe you’d get some great reviews and not make the customers who have heart enough to give your company a chance.
Oh, and by the way, I wasn’t a groupon customer either.

As an update to my earlier review on this place… If you purchased a groupon from this place, contact groupon and ask for your $$ back… I wouldn’t give this place my business! After 3 more phone messages and no previous responses to my email (except the computer generated auto-​reply) this is what I got back today from Cuddle Cupcakes
«Hi Kim,
We are extremely sorry that we did not deliver your cupcakes on the date you requested.
We are sorry for any embarrassment this caused you for your event on February 11^th.
An email was sent to your last week regarding your order, requesting that we reschedule your delivery due to an overwhelming increased demands this week, however, we should have followed up with a phone call once we did not hear from you. We apologize if you did not receive that email and would like to reschedule your delivery for another day. We can deliver as early as this Saturday if that is what you choose.

I’ve checked the spam folder, inbox and trash and guess what??? NO EMAIL from them… so I can understand that there was overwhelming increased demand IF I hadn’t placed the order 2 weeks prior… but really? What was the reason for not returning calls or previous emails? I think this is really poor customer service…
Can’t comment on the cupcakes since we never received them… suffice to say I will not be asking them to deliver as early as this Saturday!!!

I’m curious to see how much longer this place stays in business.
Bought a groupon like the rest of the world and totally neglected to read the fine print. I didn’t realize I wasn’t in their local delivery area. I was told it would be $ 30 to ship my cupcakes or I could give the groupon to someone in their service area. Not the greatest, and certainly not the friendliest customer service. I had to call a dozen times during business hours before anyone even picked up.
I live down the street from Molly’s, the best cupcakes I’ve ever had, so I wasn’t about to shell out $ 30 for a total of $ 49 for 12 cupcakes.
I called a friend because I knew her mom lived in Frankfort so it would be no big deal and hey, who doesn’t like getting free cupcakes? My goof up could be her gain.
I gave her my groupon info and I get a call several days later.
«I just got a shipment notification from FedEx from your cupcake company. They shipped them over night.» We were both a little confused. She didn’t pay $ 30 for shipping. She said no credit card info was taken.
The next day her cupcakes arrived. She called again.
«The packaging is outrageously costly and wasteful. It’s beautiful, really, but each cupcake is in it’s own cupcake cup. The frosting fell off most of them though… They know they make things specifically for overnighting cupcakes right?»
Yeah yeah, but tell me about the cupcakes!
«They’re kind of the most disgusting cupcakes I’ve ever had.»
So. I don’t really know what to say. On the one hand, thanks for the free overnight shipping! But on the other hand… there was a lot of money lost on their end during this transaction. For bad cupcakes. Which in my head I think, how bad could a cupcake be, but then I remember why I go to Molly’s and not just anywhere when I want a cupcake usually.
Also, their pricing is a bit confusing. If I had been thinking I never would have purchased that groupon, I just remember it saying «worth $ 65» or something and thinking «that’s a great deal on cupcakes!» when really, 12 cupcakes should never cost that much, even after overnight delivery.
Pretty sure they wrote some fake reviews too.
So, I’m going to let the Darwinian nature of business take care of this one.

While I did not have the delivery horror experience Patrick A. had, I totally had the same horrible taste experience.
I ordered the groupon basically because of the free delivery to my home and was truly hoping they were a good cupcake. Boy was I wrong!
First of all, nowhere on the groupon does it say we have to order the specific variety cupcake. We could not order the flavors we wanted. That was the first issue.
Secondly, I have never tasted such horrible baked goods in a long time. The red velvet was the most dense — even denser than a poundcake — that I’ve ever tasted and red velvet is my favorite. The frosting was absolutely disgusting. 4 inches of frosting on a 1 inch cake. It tasted nothing like typical cream cheese frosting.
My husband tried the chocolate ganache — also horrible.
I would not recommend these at all to anyone at anytime! If I want a cupcake I’ll stick with Flirty Cupcakes, Sprinkles, or Crumbs!
If you are still one of those unfortunate people still holding a groupon for this business — take our advice — ask groupon for a refund!

We recently went to Georgetown Cupcakes (The Cupcakery on the DC Cupcakes TV show) on a road trip and while the wait to get in the door was 2 hours, it was well worth 10 times that span in the queue. Since then we’ve been on the lookout for a closer substitute.
Cuddle Cupcakes is NOT that substitute. We gave them a try due to finding a Groupon for a trial dozen. We went through their website order form and ordered our trial dozen to be delivered on Thursday ¹²⁄₈. After doing so they sent an email asking us if we wanted to purchase an additional dozen for the same price. Hoping they were as good as the DC Cupcakes we caved and responded to the email asking for 12 more and info on how to order.
Thus started the chaos. Instead of reading the email which stated that we already ordered a dozen and wanted to tack on another, they sent us a canned response about how to order through their website. Going back to the website they were trying to charge us shipping again. We opted to call the phone number on their website. Throughout this whole ordeal we called their phone number at least 8 times during business hours, never once did anyone answer the phone; all calls went to voice mail which was irritating already. Eventually someone called back and asked for payment info for the second dozen sans shipping charges. Before giving up the info I wanted to ensure the second dozen was a different group from the 1^st. This was cleared with management and when asked what time of day the cupcakes would arrive we were told that they can not be sure but only that their courier gives them a window. When asked about what the window was, they could not tell me at the time.
Thursday came and went without delivery. We left another voice mail and asked what had occurred. Friday comes around and we get angry messages stating we weren’t there to accept the cupcakes and they would be leaving. At this time we are 10 minutes away from the house and ask if they can wait. The woman on the line says they’ll try and hangs up without any notice. We get home and they are not there. Called the voice mail again and again asked what happened. We got a call back stating the reason we had not received delivery when we scheduled is because they do not do local delivery on Thursdays. Really? The website sure let us schedule one. We rescheduled a new delivery for Wednesday ¹²⁄₁₄ nonetheless. Asking that the cupcakes be delivered before 4pm resulted in getting a response that the only time before 4pm they could assure they be there would be 730am. Pushing sleep aside we were fine with this because we wanted the ordeal to be done with.
The delivery woman was not pleasant. I’m guessing she was the same one who came before and left without delivering the cupcakes. After giving me the cupcakes she closes my own door in my face. Rude. I go back to bed and wake up a little later with my fiancé to try out the cupcakes. First, they got the order wrong. Instead of giving me the custom order they took down, they gave 2 dozen of their variety pack. Then, the cupcakes were obviously the same cupcakes that could not be delivered the previous week. The frosting was sliding off every cupcake due to the temperature changes. Finally the cupcakes were horrible. So far we have only eaten 2. The red velvet was not red. The flavor was way off the mark. The cake was very very dense from being frozen and defrosted. The frosting was over the top. They had about a 2:1 ratio of frosting to cake, probably to make up for the crappy taste of the cupcake itself. Also the frosting was runny. The dark chocolate caramel was even more dense. The caramel was underneath the cupcake because of the freezing and unfreezing. The frosting was piled on just as high as the red velvet.
Horrible website and order form. Horrible customer service. And worst of all, horrible cupcakes. If anyone has better suggestions for an upcoming bridal shower, please feel free to give me hints.
